Hi welcome back to my channel and if you're new here I am Abaya Jones and on my channel I talk about natural hair. I do lifestyle content as well as a little bit fashion. So if that is something that you are interested in then stick around. So in today's video I want to talk about products that I've used for the past 13 years of being natural, since I went natural way up until now, I've used quite a bit of product and I just want to talk about the ones I've used, and maybe You might want to give it a try, it might work for you, some of the products I've used from the beginning way up until now and some I don't use anymore. So if you are interested in knowing what those products are then keep on watching so now without any further Ado, let's Dive Right into this video. Thank you. So let me quickly address the elephant in the room before we move on, because some of you might be wondering what's going on was this was this? Yes, I blew my hair out and there's a video coming. No I'll joke, I'm joking! It is a wig and I already shot a video talking about what this wig is about, so that video will be coming after this one or so so just look out for that video, okay. So now this is not my hair. If you are new here and you're wondering you actually want to see my hair, I have a lot of videos. You can go through and actually see how my hair looks. So it's not like uh you're talking about natural hair, but you have a wig on your head. Well, yes, I can be talking about natural hair. I still have a wig on my head because I have natural hair underneath the wig. So yes um, I don't know. I can't help you, maybe I can help you, but if you have a problem with it, then I can't help you, but if you don't then um, let's just keep on okay. So, since I've addressed the elephant in the room, I think we can move on to the actual topic of today's video, okay. Okay, I have a list here because um I had to sit down and actually think about it. I also have my phone just in case uh. I have to Google something because it's been 13 years and I may forget something but some of the products. I will not really remember the actual name but I'll, insert pictures right here so that you see which products I'm talking about. There'S one oil in particular that I've been using since I went natural that was in 2010 May 5th 2010. I went natural way up until today. Today is what is today's date. Today is 4th of March 2023.. So, yes from then till now, I've used this oil religiously, with no stopping any, and I even use it on my face. That'S what I used to clean my face and that's olive oil like I want to give a big big, a huge shout out to olive oil. Can we just? Can we just clap just just give olive oil a big shout out, because it's my ride or die ride or die? It'S my ride or live. Why must it be dying? I'M just gon na change it. It'S my ride or live yes or live. Oh see what I did there, let me Focus because if I continue like this, it is going to be way too long, because I have quite a few products. Olive oil is my bestie. Okay, apart from my husband, olive oil is my bestie and yes, it's it's. So versatile, like I said, I also use it on my skin for like for the longest time I used to use it on my body as well, but I don't use it on my body anymore. I just use it on my skin on my face as a cleanser, to get my makeup off my face, so it's really versatile. I love the way it makes my hair feel I just I don't have anything bad to say about olive oil. If I had, if I did, I wouldn't still be using it up to today, but for some people it might be too heavy. So I don't always have also used in the past, which I liked, but I don't know why I stopped using it. I just love olive oil so much to the extent that I just stuck to using it. The other oils have also used in the past is uh jojoba oil, almond oil, castor oil feel, and that also I always use often on often on. I think those are pretty much the oils that I have used. Shea butter. I'Ve used mango butter, aloe vera butter, I've used cocoa butter, that's pretty much it. These Butters are used way way in the like. I think that was a year two, three four, where I was experimenting with shea butter mix and trying to add more to my shea butter mix. But eventually I just stopped buying it because it was expensive and I didn't see the point of buying those oils because um not always bad as because shea butter for me did the same thing. And even though I liked especially mango butter. Even though I like the way it felt in my hair in combination with the shea butter, I felt, like my hair, still felt equally good just with using the shea butter. I could achieve what I wanted with the shea butter and my idol leave-in. So I didn't feel the need to continue purchasing it. I may still, I wouldn't say that I have stopped using it or it will not come back into my regimen, but for the past years I have not repurchased it and maybe in the future. I will from the German drug store. I used an avocado mask that one I used for a very, very, very long time and I'm actually contemplating to repurchase it again and bring it back, because it's something that I would use for a while. Then I would kind of replace it with another product. Then I would still find myself going back to it. It'S like a long distance friend. You don't lose that relationship with that friend, even though you don't talk so much, but once you talk you're like yeah there's this connection, that's how that product is to me so once once like, whenever I have this itch in my fingers like, let me repurchase it Again and I'll purchase it, and I like it, I this I don't really have anything bad to say about it. I just remembered right now, because I did not even have this on my list there's another leave-in, but that one I just stopped using it. It'S from Maui and I think it's the pink one I will set the picture - I'm not really sure if it was the pink one or the purple one or which one in particular. But it's this one right here. I don't think I even used it up. That'S how much I disliked it, so I threw it away because it was just doing some things to my hair that I did not really like. I just heard so many people talk about how good it was and then, since I was able to get it in the drugstore, I purchased it and decided to try that I didn't really like it, so it just went out. It went into the trash yeah. I also tried the sheer moisture that was once that was the time where I was eventually able to get my hands on share Master because for the longest time here in Germany we couldn't get or I couldn't get my hands on the shea moisture. So once I was able to order it, I did I liked it um, mainly this particular one, because I tried two different um shea moisture lines. I only used this leave-in right here and the other. Even this one as well. I don't remember the names, I'm so sorry, but I'm just gon na insert the pictures right there, the one, the the yellow one I liked. I prefer the yellow one over the pink one, for whatever reason, but the same thing was that I had to purchase it online and the price was for me not reasonable, and I felt like the product that I had still gave me what I needed it to Give and I didn't have to spend that much money for a product that basically did the same thing where I could just go to the store and buy it like at that time. I was using the avocado mask from the drugstore and then I decided to try the shea moisture so once I realized that it wasn't giving me anything different. I went back to my avocado. Another product I tried was the the Cantu, the basic one. I think the first one that came out - and I my hair liked it for a while and then it didn't it just stopped liking it, and I think it had to do with the alcohol that was that, isn't the product. I don't know if it's still inside in the current uh formula, but then it was and my hair, I guess, did not like it after some time of using it, so I stopped using it. I actually gave it to my mom. She liked it and then she kept purchasing it another product that I used as a leave-in is aloe vera gel for the longest time. That is what I would use as my leave-in and then I would follow it up with my with the avocado and then I would seal it with the shea butter and my olive oil, and that time my hair felt like my hair, was quite juicy and I'm Thinking about them like why don't I go back to doing that? My hair was always moisturized. It felt very good and very like it stayed moisturized for a long time with that combination, so I don't really have anything bad to say about it. The reason why I stopped purchasing um the reason why I did not have it in my staple again for a while was because the particular Olive on the particular aloe vera gel was out of stock like they stopped producing it, and I didn't find anything to replace It I didn't find another brand that was that had What that particular one had to replace it. So that's what I didn't purchase it again, but now like they're different on aloe vera gels out there and they are similar to that one, and I think, if I wanted to, I could reintroduce it into my regimen. My hair actually likes aloe vera gel and there was there's actually no reason for me not to go back to using it to reintroduce it into my regimen. There is this Garnier three in one, it's different from the one that I showed you it's it's. I think it's grannies super something, but I'm just gon na insert it right here and I actually liked it as a deep conditioner, and I also used it as a leave-in yeah and my hair actually liked it. It wasn't like super super good or it wasn't bad either it was. It was okay. The reason why I got it was because I was starting to dislike the smell of the shea butter because it was just smelling so natural, like the scent, was not giving me this scent that I would want to have like. I want you to pass walk past me or even, if you're, starting to Whispering something to my hair ear. I don't wanna like. I don't want you to just be smelling the chef, the shea butter like this raw smell, but I wanted to smell like flowery, sweet and yeah, so I purchased that product because of the smell and I would use them together. That is why I got it because I liked I liked the smell a lot, and but the performance was also okay. It wasn't bad, it was also okay. I can. I can definitely recommend it. Leaving from that, I also tried, but did not. Stay is from Aunt Jackie's, the quench first time I used it. I thought that I had found the product. I don't know why, like the moment, I put it in my hair. My hair was like it felt so good, but then, after a couple of uses, I don't know my hair just felt dry and stiff it just it was just not working like when I applied it. My hair feels good and after some like hours later, I just felt some type of way, not even hours like not long after my hair stuff. That started starts to feel some type of way and then I'm like what's this, because I thought I had found the product and I can stop um searching that was that was like that's years ago, that's like very very long time ago, but then it disappointed me, Like so badly that I lost hope, no, I didn't know little, but it disappointed me so much so I I just finished the bottle. Did I finished the bottle? Did I throw it? I didn't throw it away and then asked me why I decided to repurchase it, because I thought that maybe now it might work differently in my hair, so last year or so I bought it. I think I bought it because the other one I actually currently still use was out of stock and I needed a product and I thought that, ah maybe maybe it was the way I was using it and I wasn't using it properly. So let me just buy it again and see if it works, tell me why it still doesn't work. It still feels the same, so I have almost full bottle of that product. There it's still there and I don't know what to do with it. So there's another and Turkish product that I used I'll inserted it also right here. It'S also a leave-in like that and my hair did not really like it either. So I also once I finished it up. I just didn't repurchase it anymore, but I believe that one. I actually used it up all the way to the end, just like the quench when I bought it the first time. I also used it up all the way to the end, also, but in conjunction with my other products, so that the drying effect would not take place. The one at Jackie leaving that I actually like, and that also works very wonderfully in my daughter's hair. Is this one both our hair loves it and especially hairs hair hair? Once I put it in her hair, I feel the moisture like how her hair transforms from dry to soft it just just works. I don't even have to apply water to her hair, just applying that product alone brings back moisture into her hair and it just works beautifully. For me. I do have to apply water. I still apply water to her hair, but I'm just saying that in her case I just apply the product and it just works in her hair wonderfully her hair soaks it up, and it just does what it's supposed to do so another product that I recently discovered Is the cream of nature angle leave in this one right here? This one has become my favorite product for now or unless should I say one of her favorite products? Okay, let me see it's my favorite product for now, because I really really like it. My hair loves it when I apply it to my hair. It just feels the way, my hair. It feels the way my daughter's hair feels once I apply the and Jackies, but her hair also loves this mango. It did the same thing yeah. It did the same thing with her hair. Another new product that I also started using is the Garnier three in one banana and something something this one right here that one. I don't think that I will repurchase it again because in my last video I talked about that, I'm still giving it a chance and I'm still trying it out. I think that I will try out the other lines and see whether I like those ones better. This is not bad, but it's not something. I need to keep in mind in my products touch stash. It'S not something! I need to keep my products attached because it's not really giving me something extra so once I use it up because it's okay, it's still working fine and I can still use it once I use it, I'm not going to repurchase it and I'm going to try The aloe vera somebody said, like said in the comment section that I might like that one more so I will try that one out and if I don't they have different lines, I'm sure there's something in there. That would also work fine as a leave-in or as a deep conditioner, because I like the fact that one product has multiple purposes, so you kind of get like not the kind. I guess you do get a two in one and even a deep conditioner, even a conditioner, so it's like three products in one. I also tried out the melanin line. Okay, first of all, I tried it because of the hype behind it, because, first of all it was Whitney, so I felt like she she she would do something because I trusted her. Why am I saying transiting as if she disappointed me, she did not her products. Did not disappoint me. The only reason why I'm not gon na repurchase, it is because of the shipping cost, the expense, the price and everything it just did not make sense to me. Okay, if I could walk into the store to get it, then I would get the leave in because I really like that um the leave and I think that one also had multiple purposes. You could use it as a deep conditioner as a leave-in yeah that one. I really loved my hair did not really like the shampoo, but I'll talk about that when Once I'm talking about the shampoos that I miss I have used. If I could physically go to the store to buy it, I would get the Leaf in and the oil as well yeah. I would I liked those two and yeah I did not really like the mask is okay, but it's not something I have to have, but the leave-in and the oil. Yes, I would repurchase it if I could go to the store to buy it or if I could get it on Amazon or like order it without having to pay extra import fees and all that other stuff yeah. I also used to use aloe. There are juice and the reason the only reason why I stopped using it, not because it didn't work because it worked beautifully in my hair, my hair loved it because of the shelf life. It doesn't last long after you open it, and you have to use it up quickly and I couldn't use it up quickly because it was a lot and I didn't need that much at a time. So I would really waste a lot of it because yeah like I said because of the shelf life, so that is why I eventually stopped purchasing it, but I think right now I think I could preserve it with using vitamin E or other natural preservatives to extend The shelf life - if I did that, then I might, I could reintroduce it as a as a leave-in Spritz instead of just using water. I could just add it in my bottle with the preservatives and then put it in the fridge, something like that yeah. So as for shampoos, there aren't so many like that and in the beginning of my hair Journey, when I went natural, I would use the drugstore product, so these shampoos I used, they worked fine. I think I could still use it today and that shampoo that I used is from my jacket this one right here. The only reason why I don't really use it, because is because I clarify my hair since I wash my hair, currently um every four weeks. So I think I need to clarify my hair, and so I use a clarifying shampoo instead of a regular shampoo. So that is why I've not been using that shampoo. But if given the opportunity, if I washed my hair, if I start washing my hair every two weeks or so then I can, I would go back to using it. So it's not a shampoo, it wasn't a bad shampoo. I actually liked the way it felt in my hair. It felt moisturizing without stripping, but it's still good. You still got the hair clean yeah, so it was the perfect combination. So I think in summer, when it's hot and I'm going to be washing my hair more frequently, then I will go back to using it by the moment, I'm just using the other junkie, I'm just using the other um Jackie's shampoo, which is the clarifying shampoo. It'S called this: the power wash yeah this one right here, that's what I'm using currently shampoo that I interchange with the other moisturizer shampoo is from NatureBox. It works just like the and Jackie's product cleanses, the hair, without stripping the hair. The hair still feels moisturized. So I like that one also a lot, but the same reason why I'm not using it at the moment is because currently, I'm washing my hair, maybe four weeks, sometimes it's five weeks yeah, sometimes if it's even six weeks, if I don't have time at all, yes, So I need to clarify my hair, because I have four weeks five weeks six weeks, it's a long time without washing, then I need to clarify my hair since I'm still applying um products, because I'm still moisturizing my hair and that would cause build up. If I don't actually clarify my hair, what you're supposed to do anyway, um every four weeks, every five four to four to five weeks, so yeah girls that have you have unit two gels that I've used is the Eco Styler gel and the A and Jackie's gel. There'S nothing much I can say because that's like we will wait back then when my hair was shorter and I would like curl my Define My Curls and do all that. But right now I don't do wash and goes. I don't do that. I don't really lay my edges like that. The other gel is the um got to be glued gel right now. I don't know if I'm using it out of purpose, because I don't think it's meant to be used as uh to lay the edges, but to is to glue the wig on. I don't know, but I actually got it for the purpose of using it to glue a wig down, which I never did, because I thought I was gon na get a lace wig and do all that. But I didn't it's just not my um something I just don't understand the mechanics of doing all that so even like it was just last year. Also, I decided to use it to to to lay my edges for whatever reason, and then I like the way it looks so whenever I really really want to lay my edges, that's the one I use they got to be glued the black one. I also have the yellow one, but I use the black one and but I moisturized my hair, I put a leave-in my oil and then I put that on top so that nothing is happening to my Edge. So it doesn't it still. It stays and if I put it, my hair stays late till the end of the day. Until I actually clean my face and clean my edges, it stays like that. It'S it! I actually can recommend it for laying edges as well, because if you are into that swooping and swapping and all that thing I can recommend the got to be glued for that. But I think you need to still moisturize your hair so that you don't break off your edges and then you say, oh why I said that I can use the got, ta be glued and it's breaking off your edges. It'S not my fault. I don't have anything to do with that. It'S on you, try it at your own risk you're on your own, because me I don't do it so much too often. I don't do it too often, but if you're doing it every single day, I don't know what's gon na happen, I wash my hands yeah, I'm I'm not part of it. Yes, okra gel as a detangler and flaxseed gel as a detangler and out of the two. I prefer, or I love the okra, the most because it just left my hair, more moisturized and um soft. The flaxseed gel I felt, was more strengthening my hair felt more strength thing, so I think that one was more of a protein treatment and the okra is more of a moisturizing treatment, because what I would do like then sometimes, if I didn't have time, was I Would detangle my hair and then like leave my hair in the twist cover it up and then would wash my hair the next day in the evening. So the gels would stay in my hair the whole day, and I felt like with the okra my hair felt soft and it felt it looked very dark and if my hair looks dark, it means it's very moisturized. At least that's how I know my hair is moisturized and the product works. It'S supposed to work. My hair, the color of my hair, is really black, like black black and with the flaxseed gel. My hair felt some. It didn't really feel soft. It just felt, like I said, strengthened the felt harder like not hard in a bad way, not hard in a bad way, but it didn't feel moisturized compared to the okra, so um yeah. If anything, I would recommend you try both and see which one works for you, because I can definitely recommend both. For me, I prefer the okra, but the reason why you haven't seen me using it lately is because of how messy it is in my older apartment, the setup I had made it work that I could lay stuff and I could still shoot, and I could still Have um a somewhat nice background, but with um my new apartment, I don't have no figure out. I'Ve not figured out a way to make or because I usually shoot here in my bedroom, and I cannot detangle with that with the okra in my bedroom, because gon na make a huge mess and I don't want, I would have to lay a lot of towels On the floor and kind of get a table, I'm looking there because this is where I usually also, if I'm not shooting here, I'm shooting there is where there's where I shoot, when I'm detangling my hair, so I'd have to get a table and all that so That I can place it on and do and that's a whole lot. So the only way I can like reintroduce it and and actually detangle my hair with, is, if I shot in the living room by the dining. But the thing with it is that I don't have a an aesthetic background because I like to have like this, like a nice background, so that's something that I'm still trying to figure out. I will figure it out and then once I do, I will share with you when I'm using it again like with you together, because one one once like when I was off camera, I would use it when I'm not shooting like that's last year, when I wasn't Really uploading anything much so I would, I could still use it here and there but uh once I moved into this apartment. I'Ve not used it because of like. I said how messy it is. So that's the only reason why you haven't seen me use it, but I it's still my staple it's like like this. You remember the friend I talked about that you hardly talk to, but once you do talk to her, it's like you can talk for hours. Yeah! That'S okra for me at the moment, until I figure it out, once I figure out the setup, then it was gon na, be it's gon na be back as my staple detangler. So what I usually use as a detangling medium is olive oil. Yeah olive oil made an appearance again, like I said, that's why I told you to clap for olive oil in the beginning, because it's it's so versatile, so olive oil and water is what I will detangle my hair. With recently I use, I tried using a conditioner from the moisture, not moisture. What'S it called from nature box, and I liked it as well. My husband uses those um uses that in his hair and his hair likes it as well. Another DIY that is more like a deep conditioner is the avocado banana mask and, I also add, was it called hydrolyzed wheat protein. I purchased it from a German store. Other things I've used in the past is yogurt as a as a deep conditioner with egg and all that, but looking back my hair felt hard because it was too like the protein was too big. The molecule is the molecule yeah. The molecular structure of the protein was too large that it would actually sit on the hair instead of penetrating the hair and since I'm low porosity, it was just a wrong. Combination in my hair would feel too hard yeah. So I eventually stopped using like egg and yogurt and all that and then using actual deep conditioner and use an actual protein treatment. Lastly, deep conditioners that I use is the one from I'm Jackie's to fix my hair that one is more of a protein treatment and then for deep conditioner. I use the currently. I use the soft and sassy, and what I've used in the past is the DIYs that I mentioned the egg yogurt and all that and the Garnier three in one, the first one this one that one was also a deep conditioner that I used from the German Drugstore these ones as well yeah. So those are basically the ones that I've tried, because I think back back then I would do more of DIY deep conditioners before I eventually switch to the Garnier before I eventually discovered the and Jackie's soft and sassy, and then they fix my hair. So for deep conditioners, I didn't want to really try so many and I'm still using the sassy, the soft and sassy and the fix my hair, deep conditioner and then the Garnier that I showed you that I was trying out. But I don't really like it. So I'm not, of course, the melanin, the three in one that one also I used as a deep conditioner, and I liked it like. I said I liked it and I would actually repurchase it if I could go to the store to buy so guys. Those are basically all the products I've used for the past 13 years almost and this natural hair Journey that I've been on for the past 13 years. These are the products that I have used. Some came, they left, they never came back. Some have used from the beginning way up until now and they are staying and I'm still making new discoveries. So maybe out of all these products that I've mentioned there might be something that you feel intrigued to try out. So you can check in my description box. I will leave a link which will take you to my Amazon front, store, storefront enough front store Amazon storefront, and I will try and Link all the products that I can. Jess so Bless: I use the Aunt Jackies clarifying shampoo too because I go long periods between my wash days. I also use TGIN Tripple moisture shampoo which is very moisturizing.

mw: I can’t stand CANTÙ their products are absolutely horrible! If you have type 4 anything or even 3C or 3B, avoid that brand! I have sections of 3c and it doesn’t moisturize that portion of hair either; it’s just a drying product line.

Rachel Sakyi: Have you never tried clay washes? I want to give that a try because I use to do that once in a while and I remember my hair feeling bouncy. but yeah I live in an apartment as well everything is painted white so I am waiting till spring starts then I can do it on my balcony.

TRUTHSERUM: Gorgeous

Ms B: Looking gorgeous
