KookyCookiez: Cosmetologist in Training here, Thinning shears are used for bulk hair and you are supposes to use it near the scalp or the top of the head if you don't want it to show. Also proper shears technique is Ring finger in the still blade, pinkie finger on the finger bump, and thumb in the moving blade, hope that helps a little!
