Hairstyles for Men With Receding Hairlines:

Now, let’s just jump into the good stuff.

Men’s haircuts are kinda my forte; there’s nothing better than a fresh, clean short haircut on a man.

I want to kick off this list with the…

9. The Caesar Cut

The “Caesar haircut” is definitely one of the best hairstyles for men with receding hairlines because it actually covers up the hairline.

Named after Julius Caesar’s very famous haircut (see below), this hairstyle will make your hair appear much thicker and fuller.

The sides can either be shaved, or scissor-cut at a longer length, but what distinguishes this haircut from others is that the top is combed forward and cut in a straight line (although the line can be softened with some texture).

8. The Modern Comb Over

When I talk about a comb over, I’m not talking about this:

…because let’s be honest, comb-overs aren’t that sexy. However, the modern-day comb over is easily one of the trendiest hairstyles for men with receding hairlines. This haircut works wonders to draw the attention away from a receding hairline.

The hair is typically cut short on the sides and left a little longer on top so it can flip over to one side or the other. It should be very blended, and I don’t recommend this haircut being used to cover a bald spot… because that just looks silly.

7. The Messy Spikey Look

Similar to the combover, a messy spikey haircut draw attention away from the receding hairline. In fact, many of the upcoming haircuts on this list do the same thing. You could do a clean spiked haircut to achieve the same effect, but I’m a much bigger fan of the messy look.

Again, the sides could be as long or as short as you want, as long as they aren’t longer than the top.

6. The Crew Cut

There are a lot of variations and misconceptions of the crew cut but I’m here to tell you what a real crew cut is. It should be relatively short all around the head, but should gradually get longer toward the front. It’s almost like a toned-down version of a flat-top haircut.

I’m a fan of the textured look, but both versions are great hairstyles for men with receding hairlines. To add some texture, ask your barber to use the thinning shears or razor in the longer top section.

5. The Fade

I’m a huge fan of the fade haircut. When done properly, it looks so clean and trendy. The goal of this haircut is to have super short hair on the sides (usually down to the skin), that gradually fades to longer hair on top, without a line.

Here’s a sweet timelapse video of me doing a fade haircut on my husband a few years ago. Read more about it here: Fade Haircut Timelapse.

One main advantage of a fade haircut, is that the trend is to “line up” the edges in the front and the hairline. This is a great way to blend in a receding hairline.

4. The Faux Hawk

A faux hawk is really just a combination between a messy spikey haircut and a mohawk. The hair should be short on the side and should gradually get longer as it moves towards a point in the middle of the head. Like everything else, I feel like texture makes this haircut better.

I think that this is one of the best hairstyles for men with receding hairlines, as the focal point is strongly directed away from the hairline.

3. Longer Hair

Tread lightly with long hair, as it could either accentuate your receding hairline or make it look worse. If your hairline is super high, I would steer clear of longer hair. On the other hand, it could look okay too; it really just depends on the person.

Mostly, I just wanted to post a picture of Chris Hemsworth as Thor.

2. The Dapper Cut

The classic dapper cut is a great hairstyle for a receding hairline. This haircut should be pretty blended, so longer sides might be better, although the sides can still be clipper cut. The top should be slicked back or to the side and it should all blend together.

If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. A total buzz-cut is definitely one of the most efficient hairstyles for men with receding hairlines. After all, there are tons of sexy celebrities that rock this haircut. Cue exhibit A:
