Hey y'all, I'm Chris, and I am a pro artist for Sephora based out of New York City. My pronouns are he/him, and today I am super excited to bring you the next video in our bold beauty for the transgender community series. Today, we're gon na be focusing on hair styling for trans men and non-binary individuals, and I have an amazing client to connect with, and I cannot wait for you all to meet them. Lorenzo. Introduce yourself hey Chris. My name is Lorenzo. I identify as non-binary and my pronouns. Are they them when it comes to shopping for beauty? What is what questions? Do you have? What kind of guidance can I help you with? What'S your experience been like uh shopping is usually very accessible for me. I get frustrated and overwhelmed, sometimes by men's things and women's things I don't like to try as either and so right i define set for gender-neutral items, is what I'd like, but it's often hard. I was able to pick some androgynous scented products for you, because I think at the end of the day, products are not gendered and they are for everyone, and self-care is for everyone at the end of the day too. So I really really love that. Tell me a little bit about your hair and kind of what you want to get out of our time today. So my hair is super long right now and it's usually a lot shorter um and it's been sitting very heavy on my head, which is so annoying. I want it to be a little bit more tousled and up right, yeah. Exactly talk to me about texture a little bit more. Do you have a finished preference? Do you like shiny, no shine, Matt, Matt Matt? What'S you what's your jam? I am NOT a big shine person. I definitely like it looking pretty natural, it kind of sunkissed Beach sort of look. You know yes, effortlessly fabulous right. Alright. Now that we've nailed down your preferences and you're looking to get out of this, let's talk about how much time you really want to invest. I'M assuming you're a bit of a minimalist, yeah, correct, correct! I am, I really hate putting a ton of time and energy into getting ready in the morning time. Ain'T, no good time. It'S not. You know like literally it. No, how does a three-step routine sound? This sounds doable. I can do that right, pretty easy, okay, so for our three-step routine, the first one is always gon na be prepped, and this is where we're gon na build that foundation for the volume that you're looking for so that first product, it's our bumble and bumble. Thickening spray, so you can use this in a multitude of ways. You can spritz it in right now on dry hair to give yourself a lightweight, hold um, and it's amazing just to let it air dry or you can spray it into damp hair. Give it a little bit of a blow-dry and that's: what's gon na really help to blow up that volume so that you can build as much height as you can, while still maintaining the natural tousle texture that you wanted and without being too shiny? Does that make sense yeah, that's that totally makes sense. I want you to get in there, give yourself a little lift and then you're gon na do a couple of sprays. I want you to get a bow. I don't know what is that, like 8 to 12 inches flat hair, okay yeah, you don't want it to be too saturated, that's the key, and then I like to almost do like a directional movement as I spritz, so that I can ensure even distribution. Okay, I need to do like on this side. Maybe yeah go for it. I love the scent. We got. The two gorgeous smells really good. It'S gon na give you that grit that you like almost like um kind of like a beachy product, but it's not gon na, weigh it down. Okay, now that we've preps, are you ready to actually style yeah? Let'S do it, I'm ready, I'm ready. Okay, grab that living proof. Your aunt doing you some like a tiny bit like literally so small, like just the baby estab itty bitty baby dab both hands warm it up and still until your hands start to stick together. Does that make sense, yeah start to feel drag and that's when you know it's been activated and then you want to avoid the root so you're always gon na go for the tips. The mid links to the ends really avoid the root. You said: okay, yes, I've done that wrong. This whole time love that you're, starting at the back and working your way through. Yes, little judge motion boosting the volume all right Lorenzo. Let'S talk about how to care for those gorgeous locks uh, just like we care for our skin. We need to put that care into our hair too. So a couple of times a week. I would have really encourage everyone to incorporate some type of a treatment or a mask designed specifically for their hair. So, since you are looking for light weight, you don't want that heaviness and you want to avoid a product build up one of the best hair treatment options, for you is gon na, be the better, not younger new dawn activated charcoal scalp cleanser, it's a mouthful, but It works, amazingly, so why this is so cool once or twice a week before you shampoo and condition you're going to grab this in the shower. The little nozzle actually turns on and you can dispense and you literally dispense a little bit and massage it into the scalp really cool. I love the little sashing wand on the end. Essentially, this is gon na help eliminate any kind of product that gets stuck around the root and ways the hair down and prevents you from getting the volume that you're. Looking for the other thing that I love about this particular kit is it comes with travel sizes of their shampoo and conditioner for you to try as well. They also help boost that volume. Oh cool, okay, that'll be helpful, all right, one more care step, and this is actually internal. So as much as we love to care for our hair and our skin externally, we need to do it internally as well, and Sephora collection and Ally. Have this amazing partnership, and so our lustrous hair gummies are going to help maintain again a healthy growth and a really really just I know I know they smell divine that grapefruit flavor I've already had mine today, so I don't want to go to ham and you Can'T I also want my whole month supply to last um, so I try to use this recommended so Lorenzo. We have taken care of pretty much every aspect of your hair routine so far, except for one, even though we did get you the you know, the trial sizes. I want to talk about cleansing. We'Ve got our Sephora collection, amazing, shampoo and conditioner for you what I love about these specifically for you. You know you mentioned that you're a bit of a value shopper and I love how much product you get it for such a reasonable price. My little pro hac with this, I learned this from one of their trainers. If you hole punch a corner, you can put it on a carabiner and hang it in the shower, which i think is genius yeah. I love that what I love about this this particular line of shampoo and conditioner, is it's super gentle on your hair. So it's not going to dry you out. It'S not going to strip your hair, which is then gon na, prevent you from creating excess, Shyne yeah. That'S a really good point yeah. So what if I wanted my hair to be more hydrated, if you have a dryer hair type or maybe a tighter curl, a hydration mask at least once a week, is a really really amazing way to help infuse that moisture into the hair, without weighing it down. Even further or exacerbating that dryness does that make sense, it only makes sense. The first thing that I love about all of these products is that the smell feels very gender-neutral, like it's got about that middle ground, which I'm like, I really like it a lot. So I guess that's awesome. I know you're you're dying to get your hair cut. We'Ve all been locked down for a while. Now, let's talk about what that conversation with your stylist sounds like have you ever gotten a haircut? You were not crazy about so many times. Oh my gosh so many times yeah, I think at first. It was an issue where I had long hair like very long here, and I would tell my stylist. I want it short and they would smile at like a feminine short haircut, which is not what I wanted so then I started going to barbers because barbers would be like. Oh, you want a men's Cotton's like yes, so that's kind of how I started on that journey. But at this point it's been a while, since I've had a cut and I'm actually at a point where I'm not sure. If how much I want to cut it. Honestly, I love the blend of you know traditionally, feminine and traditionally masculine elements that you have in your hair right now on what I'll say is as you, you know, when you get to your stylist, the the more faded, the closer cropped you go on the sides. It'S get a little more traditionally masculine and if you see that razor come out and they start giving you those like wispy bits towards the end, that tends to lean a little more feminine, a little softer, which neither is bad. I think, because androgyny is what is so important to you at the end of the day, having a mix of those two things in your style will help tell your story even better, so what I'll say bring some visual references, so I would bring at least one Shot of yourself, where you feel like your hair is on fire, just looks so good and then bring one of what you're trying to go for. How does that feel? That sounds fantastic all right Lorenzo! Thank you so much for joining us. I feel very informed, very confident, very educated now on the topic. I'm a trans non binary man FTM He/They pronouns Advice?

Ritsu: Why did Lorenzo say mens things and womens things for haircare products? Its hair at the end of the day, nothing to do with gender, if the product works it works! :D just like how there is those who identify as female may buy products that are marketed towards males, but that doesn’t mean you can’t buy it because you are female. Or you can always do diy products if you’re that bothered by the products design or labeling. My opinion btw.

Kainaiwa East: Inclusive the HOUSE! ❤️

mikah ong: Lorenzo is gorgeous...
