Chris Mcmillan, Celeb Hairstylist, Short Hair Styling Tips

After the 2013 Oscars, Living Proof Celebrity Hairdresser Chris McMillan demonstrates some short hair styling tips, inspired by Charlize Theron and Anne Hathaway from the red carpet.

If you look at the Academy Awards, 2013 last night, Jed really wanted to look natural. She wanted to keep the makeup natural and the hair natural and it was between two dresses and she was definitely heart set on the red dress. I think it's about at this point being really comfortable on the red carpet. My two favorite looks of the night last night were most definitely, of course, besides Jennifer Aniston always was Charlize Theron and Anne Hathaway short hair incorporates amazing on the red carpet. Their hair looked really modern and and simple and chic. Last year my girl was Michelle Williams and which was the representation of short hair last year. Nothing, she Kerr it's fashion, it's true fashion. My inspiration for short hair has always been anywhere from Twiggy to Mia Farrow. In Rosemary's Baby to Jean Seberg Janet's hair, she has a lot of hair, but it's kind of fine, and I like the little like fullness in the crown we shampooed her hair with full shampoo and conditioner full, is what I used to prep her hair. You want to make short hair as full as possible and what I did was I cut her hair shorter on the sides and back and I did kind of a disconnection. So you can see I cut the underneath shorter so that the top kind of lays over. So it's a little disconnected haircuts change. I always like on a on a woman, I, like short necklines, because I think that the neck is really feminine. When you show this area it really, especially with a short haircut which could be very boyish, it creates a real feminine look and I did a more cleaner around the ears rather than soft whispies, and you know that always changes with the year. I think short hair is always in, but this is more of an updated version of what short hair is doing now before the styling process. I always use a little bit of prime. She had a little bit of. She has short hair, so I only needed a little bit like like that much it's a foolproof product. I use Prime on everybody, it adds shine, it adds smoothness and then, at the very end I just take a little bit of amp and again like prime. It just use a little bit in my hands. It creates texture. It allows your hair to do whatever you want it to do, and then it gives hair, which I like that lived in kind of look also creates that modern edge that we're all looking for in hair boy short hair. Like Michelle Williams, she wore that headband. You can just add simple barrettes like these are the Jen Meyer limbs that she created they're, really beautiful, they're, really easy to use. They'Re like bobby pins and simple and effortless and they're very chic, add a little bling to short hair short hair. Is you know it translates really easy onto the red carpet? It doesn't matter every but there's a short haircut for everybody.
