Professional Hair Stylist Shows Me How To Create My Dream Loose Wave Hair Style

The @prose hair products I've been using for 3+ months: https://www.prose.com/helen #ad

In the past month or so I've started to actually put effort into styling my hair, beyond a quick blow-dry. Prior to my recent hair styling phase I always thought of curling hair as too daunting a task, but let me just say - I GET IT NOW GIRLS. Totally worthwhile. I am still learning the proper technique, so until I master that I wanted to let my hair stylist do the talking in the hopes that I learn a thing or two. And if that happens, I'll make another tutorial video showing off my skills!

So they look a little tighter right now than they're gon na look, but he just lets them cool. We don't touch them, i'm getting her ready for quinceanera girl. Welcome back to my channel. Today'S video is going to be all about hair. I'Ve never really styled. My hair um ever i only blow dry, my hair and i never take the time to curl it or really do anything beyond blow drying it. I have been using the same curling iron. Well, it's a curling wand that i'm pretty sure i got it in high school at like a walgreens, not that i don't have nicer tools. I just don't know how to use them and i just have never bothered to try. I wanted to do a tutorial about how to create a loose beach wave style, but then i was like wait. I am not qualified to make this video. Why not ask my hairdresser, who i trust, to come over and supervise and by supervise i mean do my hair and then i thought maybe i could pick up some of the techniques. Maybe try and do one side of my head and he does the other side. But mostly just for me to learn what i'm supposed to be doing, how to actually create this look. The reason why i've been more focused on styling, my hair and paying more attention to it is just because of my hair health for the longest time. I think just like over the past five or more years my scalp would get insanely itchy. It wasn't a dandruff issue, so i wasn't really sure what the issue was or why my scalp was doing that. There'S a company called pros and they do custom hair products. Everything is completely customized to you, based on your hair and your scalp and all of your needs, which is all determined in a quick consultation in the form of a quiz that you do in the consultation. I definitely touched on my scalp issues that was kind of my main thing other than that i just really want soft, shiny, manageable hair. I filled out the quiz and then they sent me my customized products. What i really love straight off the bat about pros is that all of their ingredients are sustainably sourced free of harmful parabens gmos, mineral oils, things that you don't want in your products, so they will choose ingredients that are actually going to be effective on your hair And get the results that you're looking for rather than just a generic product that is hitting all these buzzwords of ingredients that people are talking about it's more about what is going to work for you. I'Ve been using the shampoo conditioner and the pre shampoo scalp mask for several months now. I have not had an itchy scalp once since trying these products all right come on into my bathroom, where the lighting was far worse. This is where my products live. I wanted to show you guys really fast the products from pros that i've been using i'm almost out of these two and i just got refills and i completely went through one of these, and so this is a brand new one. So this is the pre shampoo mask. This is a scalp treatment that i apply to my scalp on wet hair. Before i shampoo and conditioner my hair, i'm assuming this is really what has attributed to my improved scalp health. Next, i shampoo. This is a really great shampoo that rebalances your roots. It doesn't strip your hair of all the good natural oils. It'S very light and it's clear. I use this conditioner. This conditioner is so good to moisturize, add shine mine says it's the smooth solution and volume building. I think i in my quiz, i said how i wanted a little bit more volume and i wanted shine so what this conditioner does is it adds that shine and that volume without weighing your hair down, but clearly, as you can see, my hair is just so Shiny and so soft and manageable, i love that i found these products that are so customized to me that works so well. For my hair, i can really tell how the consultation led to finding the perfect product for me and for my particular hair type pros is amazing. They offer a membership program that they call the salon, and the salon is basically a way to continue to receive your products automatically, because once you try them out you're going to love them and you're going to keep needing more. They have a lot of perks to joining the membership program right now, they're running their biggest offer ever, which is 15 off plus 10 off for all new members. I will leave all the info for that in the description, so you can go check them out. Let'S get to the fun part of the video, which is how i achieved this look he's here. This is glenn. Everyone, glenn is my hair, stylist hello. He works out of andy lincoln, yes in west hollywood and white heart salon in new york, so i called him and said: can you help me because i can't style my own hair? I don't know the proper way to do it. I'Ve been trying to do it myself lately and he does like the perfect loose beach wave, so he's here and he's going to show us how to do a speech wig. So i washed my hair this morning. It'S currently in this cute turban situation, we're just gon na go step by step of exactly what to do, starting with wet hair, how you're supposed to blow dry it and then how you style it okay, so i just took my hair out of my hair towel. Glenn, what's the first thing you do before blow drying your hair? Well, the first thing i do is that i prep the hair, meaning detangle the hair brush throughout the whole entire head, just to make sure there's no knots, because you don't want to run into knots later on, because that can just be a recipe for disaster when Styling, because that's when you can get your hair stuck in your brush, now that i'm done brushing her hair, all i'm going to have her flip her head upside down and blow dry it, because what that does is that puts in volume already before i start curling. Her hair and we want to set up for the um for the beach wave. I also too want to get like 85 of the moisture out of her hair. Just so, i can still go with the raw brush and style it a little bit. Okay, now that most of the moisture is out, i'm going to go in with a round brush and start styling. So you want to have the hair. You said 85 percent dry before you're, okay good, to know because i feel like i usually just go straight in with like a brush, so it's bad to do that on, like stopping wet hair. Well, the thing about that is that it will just take longer to blow drying in a style when you do that when you air dry, your hair or sorry rough dry, your hair you're, taking out most of the moisture. So what happens is it will just cut your blow dry time in half what i prefer a lot, especially with like helen's hair with your hair. It like has a lip. It has a little bit of texture and has a little bit of weight to it, which is great, so you can get your hair 85 dry or you can get 100 dry and just skim it through with a round brush just once and then going straight with The curling iron and it doesn't even have to be a perfect blow dry at all, because the curling iron will just polish everything. Okay, so we were in the middle of glenn going through his process of blow-drying, my hair, and he does it like a very expert way. And so i asked him if he has any tips for me doing at home, because that's what i'm really trying to learn. So the biggest thing for you at home, first off you're, going to section out the top and how i like to do it exactly so, as you see in the mirror, it's like from top of the eyebrow-ish to top the eyebrow going back to the crown of The head kind of like a squarish section and then how you're gon na do is you're gon na blow dry it in three sections, lifting it up, so you're gon na do one two three got it and lifting it straight up. So going like this exactly okay and then with the sides, you honestly can just grab it in one chunk and just blow dry. It don't don't, pull it too much, because the one mistake that i see a lot of clients doing is when they pull it too hard you're taking the life out of it. You'Re pulling the life out of it, and what you want to do is be softer to put life into it for everyone at home. That gets like a limp blow dry or like a blimp beach wave. It'S probably because they pulled too hard when they were blow drying their hair, interesting, because what you're doing is you're stretching your hair, and sometimes you can stretch it so much that it'll just lay flat straight. Oh okay, good to know because i feel like that's a lot of people's concerns with the back. What i'm doing is that i'm just blow drying it just to make it smooth. You don't have to do it any specific way. You just want to make sure that it's dry, so what we're going to do is glenn's going to show the technique of how to create the curls and then i'm going to hopefully successfully do the other side we'll see. Okay. So, what's the first thing to do after you blow dry, the first thing: what i'm doing is that i'm sectioning it from the top of the crown and the top of the crown is the highest point of the head. So just right there and i'm sectioning it to right behind the ear and when you're doing a beach wave you never want to grab a section. That'S larger than the curling iron and one rule of thumb, i think, is one of the most important rules. I always stick to is i always follow the hair lines like you see how your hairline goes right there, it kind of has that ankle. So i'm gon na follow that angle all around the head. So i clip it in from the top and then i turn it and then i pull it out and then i go a little bit down, go up and go down and then the ends. I don't want to grab that because that's where you want it to be straight yeah, the second section i'm going to still follow the angle, go a little bit up down round up, pull out. The reason why i follow the angle too is because have you ever curled your hair and then it just turned into like one tendril on each side. Yeah, you know what i mean doing it and doing it at an angle makes me confident that it's not going to turn into one yeah. They don't all like blend together, exactly yeah, so they look a little tighter right now than they're going to look, but he just lets them cool. We don't touch them, i'm getting her ready for her quinceanera girl, she's, ready or like your debutante ball yeah. So i'm doing the back right now and with the back, if you're doing this at home, you can just grab a section bite. You don't even have to look at it. Just trust your instinct and grab like a section, easy close your eyes and just do it, but i'm just like grabbing it and how you're gon na do it. Helen is you're gon na grab a piece from the back and like do it like that, and then you're gon na pull it forward. Okay, so you can kind of like pull to the front exactly. I think one other important rule is not to pull your hair. That much when you're curling your hair, okay, so guys now, i'm going to attempt the other side right there straight down, yeah to the back of the ear. Just push that back worry about that later and then you're going to section it like an inch and a half section starting right. Oh just not with your thumb, yeah yeah and deal with club, i don't just do it with your finger or whatever little hair, you're gon na split it in half and then maybe show me this first one, oh with me and then turn okay. Okay, like i, let it go, let the hair grow. Well, no, like get this hand, i panicked. No, no! No! It'S! Okay! Let'S just do it one more time but like with um a more tedious like motion, so i pull out the top part right there. Oh, my gosh guys, i don't know why? Is it so hard? Okay, you do it so like that? Oh and then you see how it has like two around it: yeah, okay, because having the second one under it will give you a lot more grit. So it won't slide out as fast try with this section. Let that hair clip this hair down. Okay, grab it with your yeah and pull the top piece out and then go straight down perfect, oh my god, you're doing so great. This is actually really difficult, but i think once you kind of get that motion, i'm sure it's like. Oh, it's so easy, i'm so proud! Oh, is that the actual last one yeah, okay, okay and then what you're gon na do flip your head upside down? What i like to do is just like, run my hands through it just to deconstruct everything, so i just grabbed my flat iron, but i'm going to show you it's like something super easy. If you want, if you're going out for a night, you don't want something like super pretty like super constructed, and you want to deconstruct it and make it a little bit more edgier. What i do is, like i grab a flat iron and just like look in the mirror and just see like what pieces. I want to be a little bit straighter. You know what i mean this will give you like more of like less glam, like more edgy cool like see even like here, you just like look in the mirror and see like what pieces. You want to be a little bit straighter and then just apply your flat iron through it. It gives it more like a daytime. Look i'm going to use a little bit of mr smith hairspray, which is really great, because it's super light super flexible and also like it's great like putting in like a little bit of body too as well, and what i like to do with hairspray is i, Like to go under and like lift up and then go to the top, how do you feel so good, so beachy, good? Okay? This is the final look all right, we're all done! Thank you! So much chloe, you
