A local business owner is campaigning to be labeled "essential" so she, and others in her position, can get back to work.
Pat KRISTINE LAZAR TALK TO HER ABOUT WHY SHE THINKS HER OR FASHION SHOULD BE THE EXCEPTION. REPORTER RACHEL HARRISON SPENT THE AFTERNOON PREPARING FOR HER LOYAL CUSTOMERS.. The STYLUS WAS FORCED TO CLOSE OR SALON IN CALABASAS SIX WEEKS AGO.. When I TURNED OFF THE LIGHT - AND I COULD HEAR MY ECHO IN HERE - AND THERE WAS NOBODY HERE WAS GUTWRENCHING. - HARRISON - SAW THE GOVERNOR'S PROPOSAL FOR REOPENING CALIFORNIA WITH SALONS IN STAGE STAGE III BEHIND RETAIL SCHOOLS AND CHILDCARE. She WROTE THIS OPEN LETTER URGING THE STATE TO RECONSIDER.. I TRIED TO SEE WHERE HE WAS COMING FROM AND MY ONLY THOUGHT WAS. He REALLY DOES UNDERSTAND OUR INDUSTRY. GUNNAR LETTER HARRISON POINTED OUT. Cosmetology IS A REQUIRED THAT BY THE STATE TO TAKE 1600 HOURS OF SANITATION LAW COURSES., THE MOST EDUCATION YOU GET IS SANITATION AND DISINFECTION AND STERILIZATION. HARRISON MADE A LIST OF PRECAUTIONS. Salon SHOULD EMPLOY BEFORE THEY OPEN THEIR DOORS.. The FIRST THING IS PROTECTIVE GEAR.. Everyone WEARING MASKS, AND EVEN OUR CLIENTS. FAY SHIELDS FOR ALL OF MY STYLUS.. We ARE ANYWHERE CLOSE. REPORTER ALSO ADDED TIME BETWEEN CLIENTS AND LESS PEOPLE IN SALON.. Earlier THIS WEEK, ISLAMIC RUN TO DEFY THE STATE STAY AT HOME ORDER AND OPEN FOR BUSINESS.. Recite HEALTH DEPARTMENT SAYS THE OWNER COULD FACE CRIMINAL CHARGES. HARRISON HAS NO PLANS TO OPEN BEFORE THE ORDERS WITH IT.. If YOU'RE GOING TO CLOSE ME DOWN NO PROBLEM, BUT I INSURANCE CLAIM WAS DENIED.. My PPP IS OUT OF MONEY AND MY SPA HAS BEEN A ♪. It'S KIND OF HARD TO KEEP HEARING THE RHETORIC. HARRISON SAID THE SALONS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO OPEN FOR MONTHS AND MORE STYLIST WILL GO INTO PEOPLE'S HOMES TO DO THEIR HAIR.

A S: Sanitizing, Face Shield, Face Mask, Gloves what else does she need to cut hair? Its been proven that PPE is the main reason that cops, health care workers, train and bus drivers are being effected LESS than the people who are just staying home and coming outside just to run errands. She will have the PPE needed and its already been proven that makes all the difference in infection rates.
Jori Kennedy: I understand her argument on having to take classes regarding sanitation and that she is having financial difficulties, but this is not essential right now. My ends are SCREAMING please TRIM me right now, but I will just deal with having more chopped off to stay healthy and alive than running to a salon and risking contracting or passing covid for vanity purposes. It's just not that serious for me. My mom always says, "the cemetery is full of pretty people" The mortician will provide a one stop shop of hair, makeup, nails, clothing and put you in a pretty coffin...definitely would make a great selfie but too bad you'd be dead to take it. So just be patient and hang in there with split ends, grays showing and all, there will be plenty of time in the future to get gorgeous again. Appreciate your natural God given beauty in the meantime.

Carl Jay: My friend needs her hair styled in order for her to function in life she needs to look good! She's going to look like a ragamuffin if she doesn't get her hair cutting another month. Her roommates been cutting her hair andshe gets much better cut professionally.
Ema Stanton: If she and her clients wear masks, why not. She wears gloved to. When these businesses do reopen, they should be allowed to open 24/7. Because if clients have to social distance thete will be less in the shop at a time, and a lot of people wanting to get their salon appts. I think there are enough night birds and people who won't want to wait weeks for an appt who will come at all hourd.

It’s like playing with a double sided blade! Right now it’s not the time. I'm a cosmetologist and although they ask a bunch of questions about it on the test, it only makes up one chapter in the book. I like how she talked about hearing the echos that she heard as if she's never heard them before....like EVERYDAY AT CLOSING TIME. Just stay closed with your disinfectation methods.

And one of her clients who spoke to the reporter wore her mask incorrectly, too. And she wants to service the public with such low standard of protecting the public. Very irresponsible for people not to know the most basic of things. Face masks need to fit properly and need to cover both the nose and mouth. So many people have no clue. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! And here this young lady who is very convincing that she is an essential worker is not even wearing one as she speaks to the reporter. Even if the interviewer is wearing one it is not enough. The hair stylist needed to wear one to protect the interviewer and camera person.
