Hi friends, how are you today is a very special video. I mean this video is not out now, but by the time you watch this video. I did my hair care routine last week and I realized I don't know what I'm talking about so luckily, one of my very good friends Anna is a hairdresser her Instagram will be here. You should follow her. Also her salon open link down below cuz. She does hair in Southern California. This video has two parts. First part. I asked you your hair question, so we can actually get a professional answer and know what the heck we're talking about. In second part of this video, our other bestfriend Kaylee's is going to be our model and Anne's gon na teach us how to actually properly curl hair, because you saw my terrible version now. Let us learn, I mean it looks good, so you're fired oh well. We have a literally hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of questions there, so I'm just gon na pick ones that I think are most applicable and we'll try to rapid-fire all right. So that sounds, let's start off with something easy. How often do you recommend washing and cutting your hair, okay, so washing first, I know there's a lot of people that watch to her every single day because, like my hair is so oily, I can't like go without like a day without washing or you work out. Every day truthfully, you should be watching her every two to three days. You could, if you can push it to four. That'S awesome, then natural elastics but natural oils that your scalp produces are what keeps your hair, hydrated and moisturize. So, if you're getting rid of those every single day, you're drying out your hair. Another thing when you shampoo your hair, you're drying out your ends, because I know it's gon na get like scientifical, but you're, opening up the cuticle of your hair and you're kind of stripping whatever lives in there. So the more you're shampooing, the more you're drying out. If you're, a daily shampoo variety recommend getting like a heavy mask to compensate for that and then cutting your hair, it just depends. If you don't do any color to your hair, you could get away with maybe like 12 to 14 weeks. If your blond, dings or like highlighting your hair often I would recommend every other hair appointment so maybe like every eight to ten weeks, mmm, that's good to know. It'S got my hair work and you come see. You I'm gon na pick. One of my questions. Okay. Okay, if you could only live with one product in one tool for the rest of your life, what would each of those be like specific tools, not just like generic, the curling iron, and it would be - I mean how specific, like a legend, a quarter, curling iron. Okay and one hair product, like you, protected some sort of like thermal protectant. What'S your favorite heat protectant, I love I'm gon na use it on Kaylee's. Later, okay, actually get it a target which is awesome because a lot of hair products at the grocery store are not great, but it's Kristin. It'S her dry conditioner. I'Ve been using her hair mask. Yes, I love her product, Agatha, she's, really cute, but her dry conditioner. It'S a thermal protectant and it also has castor oil in it. So it's moisturizing and hydrating. Her hair, like on the days like in between washings, so good, to know I'll link that down below too. So it's easy for people to find what is the best way to define naturally curly hair and several people said specifically on top, I guess I said: sun damage to sun damage effect, curls yeah, I mean any sort of like heat damage or thermal damage or sun Damage can affect your curl pattern and if your hair is longer, it's obviously gon na weigh down your curls, but my suggestion would be to as soon as you get out of the shower use a wide tooth comb to comb through your curls. If you're coming with a brush, you're gon na take that curl powder out a lot faster. So why tooth comb and then some sort of curl definer, whether that's a gel, a mousse of curl lotion and then just let it do its thing. Let it air dry a little bit. If you like, obviously don't want to leave the house dripping wet use a diffuser. It looks like a little claw that you put on the end of your blow-dryer and just kind of like till your head and just like air dry it a little bit, but you don't bless you touch it the better. It'S gon na look because when you touch it that first starts to show up. I know you don't have curly hair, but do you have a specific product? You love for curly, hair or BAE has a really good curl line. They have a gel, a mousse like a lotion, so I really really like their products they're a little bit more on the pricey side back to Kristin s, it doesn't have a curl primer that I said is actually really good anything that controls frizz is gon na. Be good because a lot of curly people have frizz tips on giving thin hair more volume, texture spray lots of texture spray lots of like volumizing products, but also layering. I know when you have thin hair. You don't want to add too many layers, because it could take away from the hair that you do have, but giving like those layers is gon na help give you body. So if you next time you go and get your hair cut, tell your hairdresser that you want longer layers just to give you movement and body it's gon na! Let the hair just like not fall flat on your face. It'S gon na give you some like movement and also, if you want to do like face trimming layers, just give some movement around your face. That helps a lot too. What'S the difference between this is me asking texture spray and, like a sea salt spray, are they the same? No, they are a little different, so sea salt sea salt spray literally has like sea salt in it. So you know when you go to the beach and like you've been in the ocean or even if you haven't like gone in the water like you, have that gritty texture to your hair yeah. That is more of like a sea salt, but then texture spray is more for your roots. It'S like lifting a root and then it's giving it more texture and movement. You can feel the difference like. I have texture swimming hair right now and it's soft, but like a sea salt spray would make it gritty and almost like PC. If that makes okay yeah. No, that totally makes that it was probably not a great to know. What'S your go-to styling tip when you don't to use any heat product on your hair, it's a hard button because my hair is wild without he I'm an avid curling iron user, but I would say kind of just letting it do its thing and if you have To like, if you're really trying to stay away from heat like I'd, get that but letting your hair do its thing air dry and then maybe going in with a curling iron and curling a few pieces just to give it like some control. But if you don't want to use any heat whatsoever, I would recommend not going to sleep on it wet because when you're rolling around and bedding your hairs wet it's probably drying and like all sorts of funky ways and you'd want to avoid that. So I would say recommending annex hour in the morning and kind of put some sort of air dry cream in it. Let it do its thing yeah. Do you have a favorite way of like either braiding like loose, braids or bun, or have you found that any of those kind of like no curl curl things you actually work? Yeah, a braid would definitely work because it's giving you that, like wave pattern of a bun for me and doesn't work because my hair is wild. Like I say, I would say, like a braid like a low braid, something that's not putting too much tension on your hair, because the more attention that you have on your hair is easier. It could break with something just to give it like structure while it's drying, it is gon na be helpful. So if that's a braid or a button like either of those would work, I can't find the one right now. I remember seeing it earlier and I want to ask, because I have the same problem too. Someone said they have to wear their hair up for work, as do i okay, and is there anything they can do to prevent that damage from that really a tight ponytail that they wear all day yeah. So there are, they do make hair ties and hair elastics. Now that are less tension. I actually have them with me and I just took it off my wrist. I could have shown you. It almost looks like it's like a stretchy, it's plastic and it's stretchy and it acts like a spiral like like what I will be lurking, not exactly like an old keyring that you would have so those are really good. They have a lot less tension. They also have these cool snap clips. They like they're a circle and then you snap them closed on your hair, and so it doesn't. It'S not like an elastic tie that you're wrapping around your hair. It'S like a clip almost in a sense or a clip, would work too or, like I said, like a low-grade. If you can get away with that, if you have to wear it up up, that's a little harder, but maybe try wrapping the elastic just a couple times. If you can't find those non damaging. Hair ties, that's good to know. I need I start doing that. I kill my hair at work so once I not a question, I'm so pumped for this video yeah, okay, this is good for you, cuz Anna. I think when I met you, you had bangs or like you right after I met you, but do bangs cause more acne on your forehead um. They can absolutely because if you have bangs, you are kind of enclosing that sweat and it's gross, as that is. I know it's nasty but, like you have just this barrier in between, like your skin and like their so, if you're, getting sweaty or you're getting product build-up like that, can definitely cause a reaction on your forehead and it can cause acne. I wouldn't say that it's like a maker, breakage type of thing just depends on how sensitive your skin is mm-hmm, but if you have acne on your forehead, can't be no big. What is the best way to get rid of frizz? Don'T touch your hair mmm limit. The amount of like heat and anti frizz products are helpful just depending on how frizzy your hair is, but a lot of times is touching it, and if the elements in the weather and the air is causing that frizz to come out a lot of times, if Your hair super dry. It could be more frizzy, so something hydrating like a hydrating, shampoo and conditioner or moisturizing, shampoo and conditioner. She says please send help. I could barely grade. What is your opinion on coconut oil in hair? If your hair is superfine, it is not good. I know, like people have come up with their own at-home hair masks. Some of them are okay. I will say for like single use every once in a while, but if you're overloading your hair on coconut oil, I mean like that's thick and I think much as you think, it's probably conditioning your hair. All that's really doing is building up on your hair like over and over again, especially if you have super fine, thin hair. It'S just creating just looks like layer of just not good, and it's almost weakening your hair, because it's your hair's trying so hard to like soak in that product that it's almost overworking itself. So if you'd have like super thick curly frizzy hair, maybe that could be good for you, but I would definitely recommend a professional mask over coconut oil and I, like it a little bit or like a spray, maybe not like the actually goopy coconut oil. They got x-rays that have it in it. What is your favorite, affordable? Purple? Shampoo, if you have one Kristen? Oh really, I'm gon na like talk a little bit about her products. Okay, drugstore products are something you really want to stay away from. There'S this huge black market for them same with Amazon, you could be buying a bottle, that's filled with something not what it says it is, or it could be expired or watered-down, and so it's just this was like random. Just assortment of who knows what I've like done, tests where I've bought something from like a salon, and then I buy it on the Amazon and they're completely different products like one super watery and the other ones like how it should be. But Kristin s is a hairdresser. She is in the same industry as me. She works with a lot of celebrities. She came out with her own line of products and she one of her direct customers and people are target, so you can go to Target and buy all her products and they're great hers is amazing. My other favorite and it smells so good - is unite. They'Re purple shampoo is incredible tonight that attracted to that one's like professional. Only so you would have to find a salon that sells it. I can't buy it online, that's a good sign if you can't find it anywhere, it's probably really good product. So I know it's like more difficult to find good products like that, but it's worth it and then, if you wash your hair less frequently like you're supposed to yeah, are you sad at all you've been out long, we're gon na end on a good question, one That I have as a hairdresser. I know that probably a lot of people come to you with pictures I find on Pinterest or Instagram for color. How likely is it that you can actually achieve the color that they want in a picture on a person yeah? That'S a great question: I deal with this every single day, my manager, when you're, looking on Pinterest and Instagram or wherever you're, finding your hair inspiration most of the time. Those pictures are somewhat filtered so say. For instance, you want this crazy, vibrant purple, pink color chances are that's photoshopped like it's, not probably real or if you're coming in with looking for this super, pretty like. Oh, my gosh is something super simple. You need to be finding photos that match your natural hair. Color you'll always see some sort of like dark route. Try to find something that matches yours the best, because it's not always gon na, be achievable McKell and I have pretty different hair colors. My natural hair comes a lot darker than hers, so she can achieve blond much easier than I can so anytime, like I'm wanting to go a little bit lighter. I have to keep in mind like my natural hair. Color is a lot darker and there's a lot more levels. I have to lift through to get that pretty platinum blond. I know for myself I'll never be that icy blonde, like it's just not possible, because my hair isn't light enough. If you have like a natural light dirty blonde, you can probably achieve that. So when you're looking for inspiration, photos try to find something that matches your natural color the best and understand. When your stylist said it's gon na take a couple services, it's gon na be a process she's not just saying that, because she wants to like trust me if she could get it done in one service and be a magician, she probably would yeah, but if they Could do it in one shot? They probably would because that would be the dream, like everybody wants to make their clients feel like the best that they can in one service, but sometimes that's not reality. You have to really really trust your stylist, because their number one priority is the integrity of your hair and if your hair is bright blond, but it's breaking off you're, probably not gon na, like it anyways. So you kind of have to like understand that things do sometimes take time but yeah. My biggest advice is to find something that matches your natural, hair, color and maybe lower your expectation, exactly don't maybe come in with, like I'm gon na end up like a pot. Actually, like this yeah, I'm yeah, that's very rare, because that person also didn't do that haircut. They have their own techniques in their own style of how they work so good to know. Okay, cool I'm excited for this next part, because I know that there's gon na be a lot of more like golden nuggets of advice. Yeah, as you hands-on, show us the best way to curled hair
