Why Hair Stylist Shelby Swain Inspires Us | Muses | Bella Doña

In this episode of MUSES, we highlight our homegirl and celebrity hair stylist Shelby Swain!

You try and get that baby here to the finger way, some sleep, ponytails and brains, doing everything in the world. This come to me the Beyonce. That year I was bald-headed ass bug. Throwing up when you ball head. You come from a family who all have just hair Mane's, all that type of is just kind of like I had to learn. I had to fend for myself my older sister shout-out to Sherry to do my hair, but then she got tired and doing my hair too. I was inspired by her going to her hair school, seeing her do hair and seeing all her little homegirls since I was rocking all the ratchet ass slick, sleek Waterfall ponytails with a bang y'all know the I'm talking about that ghetto. I wanted to have all those hairstyles and I didn't one stops my 4-inch having ass hair from not being able to do that, so it was like. I just started practicing on my head, which I got good. I started doing hair high school start, making money for it. I'M like. Oh, this is cool. Eventually he wants a hair school. It was on a crack in from their Los Angeles. Trade says. What'S up. As far as I was doing, like that everyday girl's, hair, which was cool you know I was doing like $ 50 - leaves braiding people's hair for, like $ 80 $ 100, just trying to make it. You know I was also a little make-up at the same time. So I, when I got a little white girls makeup for high-fashion shoes, so it's pretty dope, but then I took Priscilla on those class shots Priscilla, oh no, because she taught me how to make a borough bomb. I hope I make it look. Good class people started taking me more serious as a makeup artist, but then, sir same time as a hair stylist and I'm like I didn't learn here in there I started getting more opportunities to just do more hair for more people more shoes. Things like it was just help me just get my name around from there. I met Sean Ross with Sean Ross had introduced me seasoned day. So then, from there I started doing I started doing good handful of people's hair, I'm not gon na, say everybody's hair cuz. That'S I still there's a whole lot more people I want to work with, but I started doing a lot of people that I wouldn't imagine doing one moment that I never thought would happen. I knew that I want to do something amazing at the office. It wasn't some random vision. It was like that shook me, though, when the Oscars come around, I get a phone call from the home. Shine Ross like a new day was who do her hair for the Oscars, and this is 94 and I'm like whoa. Okay. What do you mean she want me, do her hair for the Oscars like that is yeah right now, let's do it. I pull up to the D supply. I go straight to the Slauson. I buy hella hair. Just all types of hair took the colors, her hair. Just jewels just to make sure I just had variations just to make sure that whatever it was, I was about to do it and it was gon na be bomb. As that's what I wanted, I gave some day a faux locs for the Oscars, which I thought would be like an amazing moment just to have on the red carpet. Because of why it hasn't been done - and I feel like that was the best decision that we could've ever made because, like at the end that took off in a way that I never could imagine it to take off like a whole, show ended off of his Fashion, police bye, it was already going downhill because in general rivers, r.i.p baby girl, i was in their song. I love when she has the little hair she just had it. I think this she's such a she's, a such a tiny frame that this hair to me overwhelms her, like, I feel like she. She smells like patchouli oil watch me be like penalized and scrutinize to disease, us there's being our black ourselves when the faux hawks came on the red carpet is such an elegant moment. It'S like you expected to be like such like a sleek chic look and it's like. We broke boundaries and barriers. I think, as though, because it's like even Barbie, acknowledge the beauties of her wearing her dress on the red carpet at the Oscars. Her being like slanders are coming through with that bomb ass. You ain't about to attack me. Let me tell you what's up: this is for my people type. Yes, it's beautiful. I like hair for the art. I like the things that you can do the hair. It'S a hair, how you can move in and make it Bend like create like statues. I love hair, shows. You know, I'm saying old, school hair books with all the crazy ass hairstyles like I always love that it always spoke to me as a kid. I would love anything: that's packed like a little swag little wager like the sleekness for like a little kinkiness to it, to just really by being inspired by the everyday woman. The everyday woman else out here working that got kids, that's out here, just trying to do her best but trying to fly. At the same time. I love my ratchet girls. I love y'all y'all would be so pressed out sleep dick, oh, my god, y'all just with these curls are just come out of nowhere. I'Ll show ponytails like I love that I love my colors while y'all business are live everyday black girl. Today, everything I've seen the girl, whatever that may look ratchet, see y'all, I love is this bond. This fly is artistic and that's why I want my hair to beat. This is a collective, my ass ratchet things. It'S the culture, you believe in yourself in your dream. Anything is possible. I'Ve done that I've never thought I'd ever do that I ever could do you know. I'M saying I knew like some people's gon na see it. I knew I wanted a lot of people see it, but actually the that I've done and since, like this out here doing the mouth, your story is your story. So, however, you get, there is how you get there um I abused a whole different freeway. Okay, you might be on the scent, but you really on the 605. Those do you figure out a way for you to do it. Don'T let nobody tell you you're, not good enough or that all make sense. I want you. Do it like that that works for you that don't work for me, make it work for yourself. However, you got ta get giddy
