She'S gon na do exactly like i did robin you need to be more trusting. No, but it's me i would never do anything to make you uncomfortable here is robin going full-blown karen in a no i'm, not in salon room. I'M the boss here robin i'm not paying about her nope, but i pay her. So she does what i say and come on you want to leave you see robin is mad, that a hispanic woman seated behind her will be doing her hair in the future. You'Ll have your collar on. You want to talk to me like that yeah robin sure, robin she's, my assistant she's, got her hair. I want you to do my hair brother. Don'T talk to me that way. No, no you're, not gon na die. The hairstylist sharon spellman sticks up for herself and her assistant alex against a bigot you're, not gon na. Take anything. You can't talk to people like that and think that people are just going to like do whatever you say. I know, and i am running a full-blown business and i'm training wait, wait really, honestly robin if you don't want to hear me out and like get to the resolution of this. This is where it takes a turn for the worst you can leave without your color. Are you gon na hit me robin get the [ __ ] out yep robin the race has tried hitting spelman because she's training, someone who isn't white unreal? Oh my god you're gon na. Let me go look how you just spoke to me and, like i just saw that robin. Why is the i'm having a lot of stress the defense mechanism of karen's, i feel for sharon and alex they have to talk to a grown adult like a five-year-old one? Famous tick tocker wrote to sharon, you handled it. Well, thanks for sticking up for your assistant in an instagram live video sharon explains that karen robin had acted inappropriately towards her assistant the moment she entered the place of business. She kind of had this smug attitude right off the bat spelman recalled she looks alex up and down and goes will she be staying here? You could feel the tension from the second she walked in. She wouldn't look at alex. She wouldn't give her the time of day the daily dots headline sums it up quite well. Karen is so privileged that she goes to hit. Hair stylist still expects service spelman ads in her ig live. She basically told me, sit your ass down you're going to do my hair, when i tell you to do it robin bewildered at the idea that her actions have consequences, makes a few attempts to apologize so as to get spelman to finish up her hair after all. But this stylist wasn't interested in ramen's disrespect towards her assistant and was clearly done trying to reason with her after a threat of physical violence. I do not condone racism, violence or disrespect. Ms spellman said on the gram. I will always stand up for what's right. I understand people are going through their own hardships, but we all are. That is not an excuse to treat others poorly per yahoo news. Setting a 2019 pew research survey of latino adults found 48 percent had serious concerns about their place in the us, and 38 percent of participants said they had been discriminated against within the year. The problem is no one calls these people out for their behavior and words. That is why they get to this age thinking they are entitled to act like this, without repercussions kudos for the salon owner for standing up for herself and her assistant. I suppose my only question is: why did it take this incident to kick robin out? According to spelman herself, the former client had been racist in the past and continued to be a customer at the shop better way than never. But actions should have taken place to prevent an uncomfortable working environment for alex the assistant

Dollar Dude: She literally assaults her stylist and still expects her to shut up and finish the job. That type of entitlement doesn't happen overnight. That's the result of years and years of not facing consequences for her actions.

AIC C: I didn’t see or hear anything racist. I’m Hispanic. If someone doesn’t like me, it doesn’t mean they’re racist. Karen is an a-hole but that doesn’t mean she’s racist.

Jennifer A.: Glad this hairstylist defended her assistant. She said it perfectly.  "You can't treat people like this"

MiniCat: Wait wait she is SUCH a strong woman (the hair stylist). I am SO proud of her as a human. I would never think to be that brave. What a role model.

Thugsy DaClown: We all need to be standing up against these kind of behaviors or else people continue to get away with them.

Julie Froberg Rose: People like this are why I quit styling hair after 15 years. I was close to a nervous breakdown from the abuse.

Sandra Mason: God bless the stylist for standing up to the customer! In this situation ,"the customer is NOT always right".

cacambo: Well done, Sharon. You're building the new America. Justice for all!

Gentle as a 🕊: I have been under extreme stress for 5 yrs. made me a lot of things , never a racist PIG

Margrit Kaminsky: Bravo, salon owner. Bravo.

Ashley Magnolia: “I’m going through a lot of stress in my life” is the defense of Karens. Stressed because your husband is cheating and your kids hate you fine, but everyone else has to go through the stress of you blaming them for your problems and being a tyrant in public as a result. So yes, Karens. We go through stress too.

Brandon Rathbone: To everyone saying it's understandable for this karen to be upset that an assistant was doing her hair: you dont seem to know how high end salons work. Or what's actually being paid for. See, in high end salons the customers are more paying for the color formulation and cut. Of which this karen got both from the salon owner. Its incredibly normal for these high end stylists to train in this way. And if this karen is a regular of that salon, she knows this. If shes a regular of that stylist, she knows how the new stylists are trained there.

Carol Bamforth: Good for this hairstylist for sticking up for herself and the young woman she’s training

Deloris Gutierrez: Thank you for speaking up I wish more people would do the same we all have a reason to be here so sad and pathetic word up people it still takes a village let's put this racism too bed word

Carol Greathouse: That hairdresser is awesome!!! I am so proud of her!

Bridget: I think it is likely this older lady has the beginning stages of Alzheimer's or dementia. Atypical aggression (fist up to hairdresser) is a sign in some individuals as they struggle to understand and become confused in a tense situation.

Barbie 🌸: Yeah I love that she stood up for herself and her assistant, that's what all managers/owners should do but what I didn't like is that the lady apologized multiple times and she showed no mercy.

Dystany Sam: With me I never ,upset anyone who is doing my hair or handling my food you never know what’s ppl could do to you .

Alan Hamilton: “I’m having a lot of stress in my life so it’s okay for me to hit you.” I love when she says, “I understand people are going through their own hardships but… WE ALL ARE!” Yeah and part of non-white people’s hardship is racism and being treated the way Robin treated this woman’s assistant. Be the solution, not the problem.

Mizzy's Parrots: I'm glad this boss is not only sticking up for herself, but also her employee, the business as a whole, and pretty much every POC

David Dutton: "Get the fuck out" was totally appropriate, but that should have ended the conversation.

Nikki H: Having someone untrained working with chemicals on your hair can result in burns and breakage. This is insane that the owner took the liberty to decide who was going to work on the client's hair without the clients permission then instigate her for it. Insanity.

Sunshine 849: I admire the assistant for smiling the whole time and remaining calm as she was disrespected

8thwonder0608: Her excuse to dismiss her bigotry was because she's stressed? STRESSED? What about the stress levels of those on the receiving end of your bigotry?

Juliet D: I left the hairdressing industry 14 yrs ago and this still pumped the adrenaline up. Well done for sticking up for your assistant. My boss bowed down to an Australian racist Karen for refusing my services because I was 'some form of English aborigini' I had blonde dreads, I left soon after

Barbara Kirby: Well handled! The client is a jerk!

Grant Newman: Be rude to your waiter, expect jizz in your meal. Be rude to your hair stylist, walk home with a bald patch. Simple lessons in life.

justsaying: Ms Spellman good for you. You were so observant and stood your ground. I glad Karen (Robin) did not hit you or you might not have been able to maintain your composure. This world needs more people like you.

MrZenchiglow: Old or not, the content is still relevant. Some people will do anything to excuse this woman's appalling behavior.

Fiona Geddes: What a nasty woman this customer is!!! Well done to this shop owner for looking out for her assistant.

Edna Aziez: Wow!!!! No one mentioned anything about race!!!! except for the narrator and maybe the stylist but I haven't heard her say anything about race. Just that her assistant is a trainee

Alicia Johnson: As a Latino born in the U.S. I know what it’s like to experience this kind of hatred. Kudos! To Ms. Spellman for not allowing it! We need more people to step up and do the right thing.

Made in the USA: I've never personally seen racism if and God forbid I see it it won't be pretty for whomever is treating someone like that. Absolutely not! Her assistant is going to go far in life what a beautiful soul both women are. ❤

Mark Roberson: That's is exactly what earth needs more people like her !!! Sticking up for Goodness

Braezy: I’d be pissed too if I went to my barber and he did my fade but told me his trainee was gonna do my line up ‍♂️ she ain’t say shit racist. She could’ve expressed herself more nicely tho and this coulda all been avoided. Ain’t have to expose the lady like this

Louise Rose: Thank you for your courage and speaking up to not allow this Karen to get her way! If all would only stand up to these bullies racists it would be a better world! Thanks again!

Sloan Bishop: One you shouldnt hit anyone but if she just wants a certain person to do her hair then that's up to her, I never heard her say anything racist, my wife likes one hairdresser and one hairdresser only it's nothing to do with her hairdressers colour. If I had the most experienced person cutting my hair I wouldn't want a assistant suddenly doing my hair either.

Marie Reeder: That was a good way to get rid of a bad client. I'm sure the stylist knew that about that chick. I would have let her have the towel, clip and Cape. Don't want the evil rubbing off on someone else. Ugh

ChickOnRadio: I have no words. Shocking behavior. Immature and self centered. I can't believe she would actually hit the stylist after all of that and then have the nerve to expect to stay and have her finish her hair.

Sunny Deise: People just need to learn to communicate with each other instead of getting upset about a whole lot of nothing. Ridiculousness.

Common Sense Corner: No one deserves to be treated that way!!! I imagine she closed the door to keep other patrons from hearing the awkward conversation and initially recorded for training, but I’m glad it was posted!!!

taxiuniversum: The moment she notices she won’t get to go on being abusive, her whole petty little world collapses in total. ☠️

Goie: I'm a fellow hairdresser and I applaud that young woman.

Morris McKinnon: uh, why is there a hidden camera in a salon? Were they expecting her to kick off like that, or do they just carefully place cameras in odd places?

Cynthia Abbott: What exactly did this woman say that was "racist." I must have missed that part.

Precious Love: Good job lady for standing for what’s good and not bad.

Nancy T.: She's definitely a 'karen', but I must say, in ANY service, from doctors to hairdressers to dog groomers.... they have always told me in advance that I might be serviced by a trainee, or at the very least if I don't know ahead of time, I am told before the service starts, so I can decline if I want to. Karen was wildly out of line, but some of this behaviour can be avoided by making sure the customer knows ahead of time they may be dealing with a trainee (regardless of their reason for turning the service down).

Troy Green: Customers are not always right. I am so proud of the hairstylist for sticking up for her trainee, herself, and humans in general.

Donia Boumansour: I want applause this brave young lady who stood up against this tyrant old lady. We cannot stand by and watch the evil !

Robin Ranney: I'm a hairdresser and I deal with this sort of thing all the time ..She handled the situation very well.. I've had countless people act a fool in my chair and it's ridiculous. I'm in the service industry but I'm not your servent..

Drako French Jr: So just because u have had alot of STRESS you think you can talk to another person like that about another HUMAN BEING, then threatened to elbow her. What a dushbag of a women. Glad she got kicked out.

CyberKat: I'm so glad she was kicked out of her salon. And I hope she stays OUT for ever!

Orionishi: This is what we all need to do with these kind of people. Everyone is so afraid to make a scene and customer service is the most important thing. It's not.

ssdtrain1: I feel sorry for women actually named Karen and are really nice people..

dariasdouble212: What the hell! I love bosses who stick up for their employees. Karen can learn how to do her hair herself!

mckensyq: I've been discriminated against so I opened my own business

Eric Jones: I bet she learned a hard lesson... Great job for the owner sticking up for her employee and business.

JSimp: Honestly, what type of person acts like they are going to hit another adult in a situation like this? Surprised and disgusted. Adorable and very calm stylist handled it better than I would’ve.

Coach H.: The shop owner did a great job! She stuck by what was right and she kept her composure. She's awesome!

Alison: Ms. Spellman handled it so calmly. She was flabbergasted, but did well

Jennifer A.: Beautiful. I've been there in that exact position. I worked at nail salons, hairsalons, both upscale and urban ones. And had some of the worst most entitled white people in the upscale ones. I use to offer complimentary manicures (safe to say I was the only hispanic nail technician in this upscale salon and I was new). I would go up to clients and offer a complimentary manicure. (Who the f wouldn't want one?) I was a damn professional! But since I had moved to a new salon I'd figure I'd give clients something complimentary so that they can eventually trust me. WELL, lol. They would completely ignore me when I'd ask. As if I wasn't even there. Safe to say I left after 6 months.

Melanie Simon: Wow she actually attempted and intended to slap or hit the stylist just for stating the fact that she is the boss and that you can't be racist in here!!

Bo Ma: Some much respect for this hair stylist

Erika Wadlington: The owner handled it with class!!! I’m glad she stopped doing her hair, no one should be treated like that.

Ann Gore: Typical -"I'm stressed". Sick of it, why does been stressed got to do with racist behavior? Well done for throwing her out

Jeremy Bieniowski: This happened a long time ago. I saw this a long time ago. This was well before Karen's were a thing.

bikkiikun: Call it what it is... Violent Crime. This Karen insulted a worker and then assaulted the hair stylist. The store owner should file a criminal complaint for assault and trespassing.

Elizabeth Ann Hankins Campbell: I love the sign “ This is our happy place” but evidently this client didn’t read it or just didn’t care about that. I would’ve rinsed her color out and told her she never could come back, ever!

Kim C: They DO have a lot of stress in their lives. It's a lot of work, and very emotionally draining hating people you don't know and yelling at everyone.

Ewa Schultz: The salon owner was awesome

suzanne stone: she literally reared back and started to hit this young lady!! THEN begged you to do hair while apologizing. talk about running hot and cold, she's all over the map. The stylist handled this like a pro, I feel oddly proud of her lol Good job girly!

Donut Armageddon: I'm a white woman of about Robin's age & I was mortified to again see someone who looks so like me acting like something the trash men would leave on the curb. The smug disrespect, the feeble excuse, the instant segue into violence, the half-hearted apology when she realizes just being a jackass bully isn't going to get her her way. Shameful & disgusting. As a business owner, you are allowed to refuse service. I'm sure she is banned from that salon, but neighboring businesses might want to print a still of Robin from the video, post it inside labeled "Do Not Serve". The consequences for this crap need to become painful enough to make these bleeps reconsider.

Charlotta Ahmed: That salon customer was just "too much". Uncalled for behavior!

June D: They've behaved this way for generations and have gotten away with it. So many lives lost and ruined because of these vicious malicious decepticons.

U U: "I want you to do my hair, I'm not going to tell you again" How are people like this created, unreal.

Nikki & Nanette: Omg she really tried to hit her. She is disgusting .

Iceman: Sad that you think you should act this way and other people are ok with it.

Kimberly Room: You handled this so great!!

Zer0 Gravity: That old "Karen" knows how to make her life unnecessarily hard for herself. Just sit in the chair, let the owner finish the job, pay for the service and then don't come back if you don't want a different stylist in the future. But, I'm assuming that this woman could logically think it through, silly me.

Not Phantasmic: Race wasn’t an explicit issue but the fact that this lady raised her hand to a stylist instead of just leaving is unacceptable.

Lisa Marie: There was nothing in this entire video that was in anyway related to race. Women are very particular about our hair and when we find a good stylist we do NOT want to be handed over to someone else. I hope this lady sees this and sues you, the stylist and everyone else involved in this pack of lies.

Linda Dawkins: Wow... Good job, to the stylist. Just bc "the Karen" wanted a fight, not giving her the service was the best reaction. Ms. Spellman did handle it well.

MisterEL: Honestly the older they get the worse they get. My parents have the same aging in to a child syndrome.

JESS1CKA !: Hopeful that this wasnt a race issue but rather a loyal customer who was thrown off guard. Seems like Robin has a hard time adjusting to change, it's her hair I understand being nervous of new hair stylist however it was not ok to cause a scene and lunge at her. She could of been respectful and say " I'd prefer you to do my hair in the future because I love your work or maybe even I'll work around your schedule" I dunno some elderly folks have little patience. I hope this woman apologizes.

Bee Cee: The stylist handled it so well. Good job girl! thank you for backing up the girl you were training.

MeC 333: Um… both Sharon and Alex were under extreme stress however they handled it like adults not over wrinkled toddlers.

Kimberly Cockram: The assistant has beautiful hair by the way

Erica -: For people saying she shouldn't have to deal with the assistant: this is how salons worked. They have ALWAYS worked like this. If Sharon didn't have such a small salon, Robin would have likely never even met her.

Suzanne Bowns: I hope charges were filed for attempted assault. I would have invited this customer out the door far sooner.

E: I hear "I am under a lot of stress " excuse all the time..so sick of that crap..like she is entitled? We are all under stress..no one is immune..grow the heck up and keep your mouth and childish attitude to yourself..stylist is correct for asking her to leave..especially when the client attempts assault.

Lukasz Rutkowski: I would kick out that old lady right away from my business too !!!

Kali Simpkins: You don't have to say racist shit to be racist.

Tears_Of_Asariel: honestly, if i was the shop owner, i would have made an example of it.. the woman threatened to hit her, she had it on video, i would press charges for assault

Breana Padilla: Ooooohhhh snap, you go Sharon! We need more people like you who will put these people on blast! There is absolutely NO excuse to being a racist. And, I am still in shock a grown ass woman (or that is what we are led to believe she is) threatened to hit Sharon! She was being nothing, but professional and respectful despite the disrespectful nature of Karen. Not to mention how quickly Karen escalated things.

AJ Locs: Its the entitlement for me. Good for her standing up to Karen.

Cookie: Great Job !!!!! She can do her own damn hair !!!

None: I get not wanting a new person to do her hair… but the situation could have been handled much different that’s why the new person was watching so she would know how to do her hair… the lady was new to that salon at one time the stylist had to get to know her as well.. it all takes time!! She will learn

Miles Kelley: LMAO @ “I have a lot of stress”. So that makes it okay to punch a person then huh? Ok.

hutch: If you want to know why it's so difficult for businesses in the service industry to hire people back, this video is Exhibit A. During the pandemic, a record number of people decided they're never going back to these kinds of jobs where the pay sucks and the people are awful.

ChisCityChic: So...this business owner, a white woman, literally states in her interview outside of the video footage that this client was being rude and disrespectful well before what was seen in this video...that the client also had a history of acting racist and inappropriate even before this incident...AND we all literally SAW the woman lifted her arm to go hit the stylist at one point but ya'll still on here talking about "I need to see the whole footage...this video proves nothing, I'm still not willing to judge", etc. No matter what, the fact that this woman lunged at this business owner as if she were going to attack her should be enough "evidence" to warrant that the response of kicking her over entitled ass out of the salon was valid but for some reason, because "the racism was not blatant enough" and that the business owner "just wanted attention" somehow the customer was still right in this situation...??? You all are seriously a trip. None of you saying this must never have worked in a customer service job not to mention, doubt there's any amount of footage that would satisfy your ability to recognize that this business owner's response was noble. Too many bad customers get their way in the name of "keeping them happy" and at the expense of those who work hard and get treated like pure shit. Pretty convinced for some of you that the woman could have straight up called the assistant a derogatory term and you'd still be in here making excuses for her behavior.
