Adrian Calisto: As an asian with very straight and coarse hair that is relatively well versed in hairstyles (had multiple perms). I don't recommend it for most people. 1. It is generally extremely expensive. 2. It damages your hair (leaving it porous) and it is generally not recommended to use bleach on permed hair. Therefore limiting your choices in styles 3. Your roots regrow exactly like your natural hair and it looks very weird if your perm isn't very loose waves if you have straight hair. If you want to maintain its look and volume effect, you would need to redo it every 3-4 month approximately. 4. The perm itself doesn't style itself automatically. As silly as it sounds, you would most likely still need to used either need to do blowout, rollers sets or flat iron curls EVERY DAY for it to look nice and not just flat waves or curls that dangles in your face+ frizz. The only benefit from a perm is that it looks good when you are traveling to a humid/ hot or rainy place as your hairstyle can literally survive the whole day FLAWLESSLY without the need of heavy product. In general after you style your permed hair in the morning and add a bit of product you can just dance, run or do whatever and it would still look nice. I just think it isn't worth the cost if it would take the same amount of effort to style my hair without a perm with the added hair damage, limitations and cost especially if I don't live in a humid place, do not care how my hair looks when I work out or often have events to attend that last more then 8 hours
