Braid Out Hairstyle (Relaxed Hair) (Tutorial)

In this video, I show you how to braid out relaxed hair which was requested by some of you sometime ago now, so I'm finally getting round to showing you exactly how I created the style.

This style can be created in so many different ways and I tend to alternate how I create the style if I feel like doing it slightly differently. I've created the style with just 2, 4, 6 and even 8 plaits, but today I'm doing 8. One problem I find when doing it with just 2 plaits is struggling to hide my partings (down the middle) which always appears to reveal itself. So to avoid that, I like to part my hair horizontally, rather than virtually.

So before I create the style, I always like to do it on freshly washed & conditioned, semi air dried hair, as the style is likely to last longer when there's less product in it (which tends to weigh the hair down) and when it's left to set overnight or for long periods of time.

The products I use in this video are;

1. Mane n Tail - The tangles and knots solution

2. Creme of Nature - Argan Oil Strengthen & Shine Leave in Conditioner

3. World of Curls - Comb Out Moisturising Oil Sheen Spray.

So that's it! The style is really easy to create and I love wearing it as a low maintenance style, especially when I'm beyond 10 weeks post.

Hope you enjoy my video x

Hi everyone and welcome back to another video and sorry I've been away for a while. It feels like ages. Since I last on a video, it's mainly because been lots going on. I had my nephew's christening a couple of weeks ago. I had a friend's wedding last weekend. I'Ve got another friend's wedding this weekend. It'S just been so much going on. I haven't actually had time to kind of do a video, but today I'm going to be doing a hair braid out video, which some people progress with some time ago. So sorry for delaying on doing that, and there is like a list - the videos that I've been honest to doing I'm trying to get through them. You know bit by bit so and yeah today is how I do my braid out, and so I'm going to show you exactly what I do and now my hair has been washed and it's been conditioned and I have applied my mane and tail detangler than tangles And not solution spread to my hair and I have also applied my argan oil cream of nature strength and shine leave-in conditioner. So it's the only products that I've applied to my hair. Now, when I'm doing my braid outs, I like to it on my hair to stanley dry before I actually start to do the breaks and it's simply because our hair is its weakest when it's wet. So I don't like to kind of braid or plat my hair and to put too much stress and strain on it in case, of course breakage. So I like for it to kind of semi driver, which is what it's done now before, I'm doing that. So what I'm going to do normally, I would apply some moisture to my hair before letting it up and I would normally use my Cantu shea butter cream hair lotion by matching out of that. So they be using my wonderful world of curls and moisturizing oil sheen spray, which I've spoken about so many times so knowing you miss on my hair, alright, so let's get started first thing: I'm going to do. Is I'm going to section my hair now there's some different ways that you can do braids out. Some people will part their hair in two and just do two plats and some people do or Platts, which is what I've done in the past and then sometimes I tend to do. Maybe five or six different Platts. But one thing I try to avoid is part in my hair directly down the middle. That'S what I find these when I take out the braids. I find that I'm kind of fighting to kind of cover up the part at the back, which always seems to reveal itself somehow. So what I like to do is obviously do my part is going across so that it kind of covers up and avoids that them taking place alright. So, first of all, I want to show you what I'm gon na do, so I'm going to section it at the back right cross. I'M using my this is my own applicator brush, which I usually use the relax in my hair and I like to use this brush. The the kind of rat tail ends just to part my hair, rather than using a comb. My point: it really is it just glides through and it's so much easier, just the section it when I put in my hair. I don't worry too much about how it looks. It have to be perfect line as long as you can like section your hair. Somehow that's the main thing, because it's the kind of the end look that we're looking for anyway. So, as I said, don't don't just kind of ignore and it's crooked don't worry about that, because we use my Hobart just to keep my head up out of the way and then then apply my world of course, spray just to kind of add a little bit More moisture into my hair because it's been air-dried, obviously we lose minor stuff, so I'm just putting moisture back in it and also my hair's kind of drying in a lot, and I won't fly my hair to being kind of semi wet when I am braiding. My hair, because when it sent me wet by the time the hair dries when you braid it actually sets into the curl, which makes it more like last longer and the style is so much better when you do it that way as well. Okay, normally I use my large tooth comb, which is what I still use. It'S just that I'm finding it lots of little bits and pieces in here that's getting stuck in my hair, making my hair a bit dirty. So I am using my son's afro comb today. As I said, I still do use the large tooth comb. Okay, I'm just brushing up the facts and it's nice and smooth, and then I'm going to begin to just tap the back section, also completely up to you. How have big you want the curls or how small you like them to be. Obviously, the more press that you do, the tighter the curls will be. The less part is that you have the less fat you have the more bigger the curls will be. So I tend to go for in the mid: don't want them to be too small. I like them to be kind of medium in size. Okay, so I do. Is I don't braid all the way down to the end? What I'm going to do at the end is put my flexi rods and roll you up, so the ends are not left straight because I find that in the past, when I've done my braid outs, the ends have just been left like that, but a time I Unravel it all the ends are straight and the rest of the hair is curly, so I'm puttin the flexible on the end. It helps to keep that curl from top right through to bone okay. So that's the first one done and then what get? What we were doing again is section my hair and that you just do great all over and then show you what it looks like at the end. Okay, so this section here, I'm gon na part into two, so we have two separate braids head. I think all in all, probably gon na have one two three four: five: six, but seven or eight brains: okay, okay, so this is the last section now I'm just brushing up the front to smooth it down, just so that it's nice and smooth okay. So all the braids are done just turn around and show you so there it is eight braids in total and then what I'm going to do. As I said, if you look at the yen's, I haven't braided them all the way down, and I don't like to do it all the way, because, obviously, as you get to the ends the ends of going fragile, I don't want to cause any breakage to them. So what I'm going to do is apply my flexing right. So I'll show you what I do now right. Okay, so I'll! Do this well, then put in flexi rods on inch flat, because this is quite heavy. I don't want to put too much just and strained on the on the braids, so I just literally just put two together like this and then wrap my hair and and then just rolling it up just to about here and only one all the way up. Obviously, I'm doing a braid out not flexing right style up, so it's really just for the ends of the hair. So I'll probably do it to about here and then just lock and round like that, just like that, okay, so, but once again just putting them together. Like this get in the flexi rod back hit the bit my hair around break flexi bars and then rolling up slightly to about there and then just locking it around to keep them in place like that. Okay, that's it them all in and that's exactly what I do now when I do a braid out, I always like to do on freshly washed hair reason being is because, obviously, when you just washed your hair, you've removed all the products on there. So obviously this it's not gon na wear your hair down. So when your hair's freshly washed and it's air dried and put into the braids, it's allowed to be sit overnight, and she what I tend to do kind of wear this overnight and then take out in the morning and the hairs olmstead. It comes out really nice and the style tends to last a lot longer as well and so yeah. That'S it really. I'M going to put my setting head scarf on now. Keep this on overnight. Then, tomorrow, in the morning, I'm gon na take it off and show you exactly what the brain that looks like see. You then, okay, so it's the next morning and I'm going to take out my rip, see rods and the braid and show you exactly what my hair looks like and so, let's just take them out, you can see the ends their curly, which is what I wanted. I didn't want my hair to be straight, as I mentioned before, I wanted to that little curl to all blend in nicely. Okay, writes it somewhat out now what I always do whenever I'm unraveling any brains, I always like to put a little bit of oil. On the tip of my hand, I've got that tip somewhere on YouTube, a trot member whose video it was or where I saw it, but and what it is you put a little bit of oil to the tips of your fingers. So when you're unraveling, your braids you're not kind of putting too much tension on the ends so that this is not so dryer and the introvert breakaway, so you're going to use, in my hundreds, a natural raw virgin, coconut oil. All right, I'm just going to apply just a small amount on the ends of my my hand, it's not too much it's a really really small amout and then I'm just going to unravel it gently I'm just literally just going to take it all out and then Show you what it looks like after okay, so I've taken out all the braids. Alright, I'm going to do now. Is I'm going to unravel them so to create more volume all right. So that's what I'm going to do and I'm going to use the same applicator brush, which I like to use to literally just tease it through my hair like this, which is how I like to separate my braids up. I'M just going to do this all the way through that kind of evens out each and every braid to get more volume. I also like to use my fingers just to feel for any braids up and still feel that kind of clock together just to kind of separate them and just create as much volume as I can now. There is still some damp areas. I can feel - and sometimes that does happen when the kind of thicker areas of the hair got some of the brain that are slightly thicker, don't get too dry properly, so it kind of gives a bit more of a drop which I don't really like. But it looks okay, I can get away with that. The rest of my hair tight, really nice, it's just the middle area here, where I can feel it's a little bit damp. Yes, I'm going to do to strain some of my work coax washed erisa. Just to add some more moisture back into me, not too much because with this spray will find that you've spread to be much. It makes your hair really really moist, overly my sometimes wet. So I don't want to do that. Obviously I want to keep my house. I'M just gon na lightly spray a little bit and then brush up the sides. Okay, so that's it! This is the end product of my braid out. I just turn around for you and that's it. What I find my braid adds that you can come out in 70 different ways. Every time I do it comes out slightly different. Sometimes I really like here sometime. I don't like it. Sometimes it's, okay, and today it's yes, it's okay, I'm happy with it! So yeah! That'S really it! That is how I do my braid out and I hope that's been useful to some of you that wanted to see how I create this style. This look and going to questions as always through post them below and I'll try my best to answer it and yeah.
