Hi I'm T Cooper, I'm in New York, City, makeup artist, hair stylist and co-founder of beauty and grooming company Metro. Look today we're going to talk about a question. One of you recently asked, which was: how will a perm look in fine limp hair? Now there are a couple of ways of finding this out. The first way is that you can go to your local wig store or a beauty supply store and try on curly wigs, but I know sometimes some of you people are really really busy. I know I am sometimes and ain't nobody got time for that. So therefore, another way to do it is through curling your hair. As you can see, I've already curled my models hair to give some volume, and I actually like the way this looks so she'd be a great candidate for a perm and I'm going to show you how to do it. But this you're going to need some good old fashioned and heat protectant, of course, because you need to protect your hair you're going to need some hairspray and a curling iron and what size curling iron you need is up to you. You can try it with different barrels and then see what kind of curl that you like in your hair. So I'm going to try it with a few different barrels. Now, the first one I'm going to do is a 3/4 inch. So I'm going to spray all the hair, I'm going to be curling and I'm just going to comb the spray through, so I can distribute the product evenly. That'S just how I like to do things so now, I'm going to take this section and I'm going to use a 3/4 inch, so I'm just going to wrap this around I'm going to get as close to the root as I can, because, typically, when you get A perm they start all the way from the room, I'm going to hold it here for a few seconds until the hair gets hot and then I'm going to let it go, and then there goes one curl now another one. I'M going to use I'm going to use a one inch and we'll see how we like the curls that a one inch makes so I'm just going to slide it in wrap the hair around it and get as close to the root as I possibly can. And I'm going to let that go, and you see that's a bigger curls in this one and then the final piece of hair. We can use a one and one-quarter inch, so this will help you determine eight if you like the way, curls look in your hair and be what size curls that you want in your hair, because there are different techniques that they can use for perms, and then We let that go so you can pretty much see it's a big curl, there's a medium-sized Caroll and there's a smaller curl. And then you can determine how it's going to look in your final and pair and if you're, going to like it, I'm tea Cooper and thank you for watching bye.

JENNIFER LAYNE MUSIC: What a person's hair looks like curled, sprayed and styled, is completely different from how a person's hair looks permed. This title is totally illogical in reference to the video you made.

Cyndi A: THIS VIDEO HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PERMING FINE THIN HAIR- SHE IS SPENDING HOURS CURLING IT. THE OBJECTIVE TO GETTING THE PERM IS TO AVOID THIS TIME

dot: I don't know about this girl's hair in this video but if it's anything like mine then this video is false advertising. I have very fine, dead straight hair and it's laughable how long (or lack thereof) curls last. I always decline getting my hair curled at the salon because there's literally no point, something that many girls with fine, limp hair would understand.

David Chatel: I don't think trying on wigs shows you what fine or thin looks line permed. it shows you what you would look like with curly hair. that's not ...question.

Angela H.: have you ever done an actual perm on a white girls hair?? curling with a curling iron does NOT give the same effect as a perm!

Jen Desabrais: I agree in that curling hair with a curling iron doesn't resemble a permed look at all. Being a professional stylist you should know that.

dragonbone5000: Fine, limp hair???? You’re joking right? That is thick, coarse hair with some natural wave.

sammy sammy: Lol.... This is funny..... I love the model.... And her expressions... I'd love to see the original video your sending up

Kk & Ally: Can you apply heat when you have a perm?

Alana Smedley: Erm, that's not a perm, its just curling with hot irons!

Danielle: I got a perm when I was 14. I have straight, fine and thin hair. It looked like ramen noodles and not at all what we had expected.

Blah blah: Wait a min! The first hairspray at 0:54 is not the same as the one shown at 0:55. LOL. Anyone else notice this?

Jenni G: Nessecary to get haircut before spiral perm?

Heather Eastin: How will a perm look on fine, thick hair?

Lyric Berlin: sorry but that is not thin hair
