Does The Pony-O Really Work?!? | Fab Or Fail | Cute Girls Hairstyles

It’s time for another #FabOrFail, this time I’ll review the Pony-O bendable ponytail holder! The website says it holds every hair type and thickness, and without tension on the follicle or damage to your hair? Is that true? Watch to find out!

As a mom of 6 with an extremely busy schedule, I'm always looking for quick little easy "life hacks" and I love trying out products that could potentially make my life easier and save time!

This Pony-O product claims to essentially replace the need for traditional elastic ponytail holders, will work on all hair types and thicknesses, will not add tension on the hair follicle, no ponytail constriction or annoying crease in the hair, and that it is extremely comfortable. That sounds great to me! (I find ponytail holders as kind of a necessary evil, so trying something new that proclaims to be better is an easy choice!)

After trying the tool, I have to say that I was a little underwhelmed with the final result! Not that it did not function, I will leave more of my comments to the video for explanation. My hair looked good when it was in, but I'm not sure how durable it would be in even the slightest active day. (The traditional "split-cinch" to tighten the ponytail doesn't work on this like it does with traditional ponytail holders.) I liked the thinner #PonyO much better than the bigger one, and loved the magnetic pearl band the most!

This tool lands pretty much on on the FAIL from me, in terms of functionality, easy of use, and price. I would like to try it out on Paisley's natural hair, with puff piggies, to see how it holds up. It tended to loosen fairly easy on my 2b hair.

Again, these are my own opinions based on my own hair and experience. Your experience may be different. If you are interested in trying out the Pony-O ponytail holder, you can order one HERE: https://www.ponyo.com

Okay, so we got the hair through., I'm gon na keep it close to my head. Where I want it. And now it says: `` Squash, it flat.''. So I'm squeezing it. Squashing it flat. (, easygoing pop music, ), Hey everyone, I'm Mindy from Cute Girls Hairstyles. Today, I'm doing a Fab or Fail that one of you guys sent me.. It is the Pony-O.. So I have two colors here. One, because I would normally really buy black in real life and use it in my hair. This one, because I thought it would show better on camera, for you guys to see.. But also, can you see that there's just a little bit of width difference on'em, So a Pony-O if you're not familiar with this, is supposed to replace a traditional elastic if you're doing a ponytail., So I wouldn't call it stretchy.. It'S like malleable plastic that you can like kind of shape and form, but you put your hair through there.: Squeeze it down, bend it. And it's supposed to hold your pony, really really tight and be very secure, but also give it more lift and volume off the Top of your head for, like a nice fluffy, looking ponytail., So we're gon na, try it and see what we think. Let's get on to it. Okay, so I'm starting the video by putting my hair in a regular ponytail like I would, if I didn't, have a Pony-O. Now you guys know my go-to tricks for getting high, really secure ponytails is are there's more than one to double up on your elastics.. So normally I would add, a secondary elastic in my hair right on top of my first elastic to give it extra height and volume., And then my second trick would be adding a little bit of dry shampoo., (, bottle, spritzing ), Just to add a little texture. And then you guys know, I love my magic dust from Heritage. and I would just tap it like this. Right in the root of that ponytail. And fluff right, And I would get a pretty nice high ponytail and it's pretty tight.. It'S not gon na come out right If I'm running exercising it's gon na stay put.. So this is what my go-to is.. So this is what we're kind of comparing the Pony-O against.. So now, let's start over using the Pony-O.. Okay, guys, here's my hair., It's down.! I'M gon na just swoop it up. Like I normally do., I don't usually use brushes.. I just kind of finger comb, my ponytails in unless there's something really going crazy with my hair.'Cause. I just feel like your hair, lays better and you're less likely to get those ponytail headaches if you're, just kind of letting your hair do its thing., So scoop it up. Scoopity-scoop., And then I always right here in my part line. I have some little highlighted pieces. I pull forward. Now. This is where I would get my elastic out and add it. In. Draw your hair up and stick your thumb and first finger through the Pony-O.. I'M gon na use the thicker one just'cause. I think it's gon na show better on camera., But remember in theory, because it's thicker, it should also give me extra height.. So it says to put my fingers through, like this. Thumb and fourth finger. Use these two fingers to feed the desired section of hair through the Pony-O, keeping it close to your head with the other hand. ( Mindy playfully groans, ), Keeping it close to your head Squash, the Pony-O flat. Okay, so we got the hair through.. I'M gon na keep it close to my head. Where I want it. And now it says: `` Squash, it flat.''. So I'm squeezing it. Squashing it flat.. Can you see it's flat. Like straight flat.? Now it says `` Place one thumb under the Pony-O end.'', So it says `` Place a thumb here and bend.'', So I'm bending. And then it said `` Do it on the other side.'', So we're gon na try to bend and curve'em both inward.. So I'll show you I'm just bending. And it's like bent in now, so it's not straight. Straight in front. See it, But then it's bent in back.. This is what I would do. If I were doing my normal ponytail.. I would pull these front pieces forward, so it leaves a little.. I would tuck my baby hairs. And then I would just fluff. Give it a little bit a zhuzh. Little zhuzh-y.. So we can do this. Fairly. Zhuzh it up.. How do we think it looks compared I'll? Do a nice, slow spin for you to see it. My squeaky chair. One thing I did notice right away when I put it in is like if I do this normally my elastics hold it really tight. With a Pony-O. It feels a little bit looser, but it is staying.. Let me see if I can whip my head around and it loosens up. ( chair, squeaking, ), Okay, so you can see it did loosen.. I have thick hair though. Like I have medium to thick hair. So I feel, like my hair, might be harder to grip fully. Like if you had thinner, hair it might've stayed., But you can see on me. It came loose., That's what I was worried. About. Was coming loose.. I want to show you the other thing.. I don't like it ,'cause this Kinda ugly. Like if you had black, maybe it would just blend in., But I like to hide my elastics. And so a lot of times I'll take hair and wrap it around.. I do think it might be harder to do that. If you're wearing a Pony-O., But they do sell these things called Bling Ringz, which looks like this., So I bought one to try it and it's magnet clasp.. You can see on the backside., But in theory what you're supposed to do is just put them over the top to help hide the ponytail.. Like the Pony-O holder., I mean I'm gon na try the thinner one and see if I like it, better. Just'cause. It'S a neutral color., So let's try that.. Also. We need to see how it's taking out of my hair.. I'Ve never used these before guys, so I'm learning right along with you.. I have my mirror over here. If you're wondering what I'm looking at. There's a mirror on my left, so I can see what I'm doing.'Cause, otherwise, I'm flying blind. Four finger. Pull it through.. If you have really really really thick hair, I don't know if you'd get it through there. Squeeze it.. Okay, squeeze-y. And then bend it in. Bend. Bend, I'm like really bending it., I'm trying really hard to make sure it stays tight. Loosen it up a little bit. Like that., Okay. Now, let's try adding the Bling Ringz.. I mean I'm feeling it now that it's like nice and neutral., It kind of looks kinda cute. Little bit different way to style a ponytail with something decorative on top.. But I think you could do that with elastics, underneath too.. Let'S try and see if this one goes flying like the other one did. ( chair, squeaking ), You know what guys This one stayed in better.. It wasn't as tight as my hair elastics, but it did stay in better.. So if I were gon na buy it again, I would definitely buy the thinner, not the thicker., Something about the thicker. Maybe the weight I don't know didn't whip around as much.. So let's do the thumbs up or thumbs down.. I would say overall on the lift of ponytail and like cute factor., Like just my ponytail, looking fluffy and stuff, I would give it a thumbs up. I feel like it did accomplish that.. It didn't stay in place as well as two elastics.. If I were out running or something that's high intensity, so for like durability, I would give it a thumbs down.. I would give it I'm trying to think of .... If I were gon na take an elastic out of my hair. What I would normally do with it is just this., I'm sure every girl wears their elastics on their wrist.. I don't know how you ..., What do you do with this? If you take it out of your hair, when you're done with it Like there's not you know what I mean, I guess you could fold it up and put it in your pocket, but then that's annoying.. So I feel like that's a negative towards the Pony-O.. Also cost-wise the Pony-O for one was 9.99 and if you bought more, then you got discounts. But that's significantly more expensive than just buying a ring of elastics, like you would from your local store. Or even microfiber bands, which are a little bit more expensive, but still Less expensive than the Pony-O., So I feel like that's a negative. Thumbs down on pricing., And I don't even think that it's like ..., I mean if they made the argument that it's better for your hair. I don't even agree necessarily with that., Because if you see inside there's these little ribbed teeth to help grip your hair., But to me that's like gon na pull on your hair every bit as much as any hairband would.. So I'm gon na go with thumbs. Down.! Okay, so overall Pony-O would I buy it again. Probably not.. Do I like the idea in theory Sure, but I just don't think it's worth the money or the cost, and it's not wowing me with anything that just a basic pony, elastic or two couldn't do. So thumbs down for the Pony-O. In my opinion, guys., Okay, the one thing I would maybe give a thumbs up to ironically, is this random Bling Ringz that I just like threw in my package at the last second. Only because if I didn't want a hair wrapped by elastic that day and add Bobby pins, this little magnet clip. Actually, I think it kinda looks cute against the hair. And it's just a little something. You know different and kind of fun., And I think you would maybe see people that, or I think people would notice it because it's different and unique. And it just clips around with a magnet. And because that's so easy to use. I do think that you could still use your basic elastics and use the Bling Ringz right over the top of it, and it would be just as effective. So thumbs up on the Bling Ringz. If you haven't watched my other videos, I've done tons of other Fab or Fails over the years. So you can click right here to subscribe and then go over there to watch the other videos., And we will see you guys next. Time. Bye, guys ( upbeat pop music, )

Mindy McKnight: So, what would you like for me to review NEXT??? ✅ Also, shop ALL Hairitage Products at Walmart HERE: https://shopstyle.it/l/bcn9T ❤️'s -Mindy

SharmaLlama: I ordered some Pony-Os and they were great for the first maybe ten uses. After that, they kept bending in the same place. Once it’s been bent in one specific spot, it becomes very difficult to get it tight enough because it just folds in a used spot.

Jade Billington: I love your fab or fails ❤️

Tara Lackovic: i’ve been following you and your family for so long and y’all still manage to put the biggest smile on my face :) ’s - tara

Claire: I think the Pony O would actually fall right out of thin fine hair! One of my friends has super fine hair and this would definitely not work for her.

Tobi: I can’t wait to get the styling heads!!!! I’m still trying to convince my parents. Love you the most!!!

Bella Raine : Watching your videos and Brooklyn Baileys Is literally one of the best parts of my day!

Alexis Dawkins: So glad you did this! Been wondering about the pony-o for quite some time! Think I’ll save my money lol but the bling ring thing looks cute! I would definitely use that!

Urvi Saran🧣: I absolutely love Fab or Fail videos

L 0: I feel like this sort of thing would be a life saver for curly girls

Danielle Ruth: I always love the fab or fails! They are always SO much fun to watch! Thanks for this Mindy!

Sana_the _lilac: U guys r so helpful, ur always giving us positive vibes even in this crisis situation, really hats off to u guys! Lots of love

Hallel Calandrillo: Even though it didn’t hold quite as tightly as two elastics, I wonder if it’s better for people who get really bad headaches? Because I could not do the two elastic trick since I would get an almost instant headache from a ponytail being that tight. I usually have to use an old elastic, loose scrunchy, or just deal with my hair down. So maybe this is a good middle ground for people like me? Idk

Wayne Fry: Fab or fails are literally my favorite videos you do... besides behind the braids! I love your earrings and necklace so cute! Love ya!

Missgurl TrustGod: These are so helpful and I love you guys so much thanks! I've been watching you guys for awhile now too so now I know what is good to get and what's probably on the lower side

Emilia Donovan: Love your tutorials! And Fab and Fails are always a laugh!!! Love from across the pond x

-dqrknessigniites: Great video, Mindy! I really enjoyed watching it. Also, a huge thanks to you and your entire family for always providing us with entertaining videos! I love you guys! ♥️

Sarah and a Camera: I love fab or fails and the whole family! Your videos are amazing I love them all!!

Shelly Fengler: Hey Mindy, I definitely want to try this pony-o on my hair! Can you try the “powercurl” hair curler?

Gem Camp: Love your fab or fail videos!

taylor grace✧: Hii Mindy!! Hope you all are doing well! I love these fab or fails videos!! :D ♡

𝘀 𝗼 𝗻 𝗻 𝘆: Loved this fab and fail so far your ponytails are so effortless yet look so formal and volumeanus! ✨✨

Robyn Campbell: Totally agree, I bought the Pony O’s, I also have medium to thick curly hair and the were a huge fail, Thankyou for always being so honest, love watching your family channels, have a happy day

Urvi Saran🧣: It looks pretty but loose, I'm pretty sure I'll prefer my elastic more too Edit : it's so costly too So I definitely agree with Mindy on it being a Fail

Kat Berns: Love this video!! Fab or fails are amazing!! :)

Annie Ma: Thank you so much for an honest and extensive review. I have very thick hair. So not buying it now haha! Xx from Amsterdam!

arianna: These are so fun to watch! Love you

Bundles Bear: Love fab or fail ❤️. Great video Mindy

sluggish_moxie: Mindy is just the best and most honest reviewer ever!

The Life of Jamie G: It looks really cool! Fab or Fail is so cool! What would be wrong with schruchies?

Kathryn Gugle: I love your Hairitage line. I stated using it about a month or so ago. Best shampoo & condition I have ever used. It also smells SO good.

ItsCharlieBee: I’m halfway through the video and I can already tell that my super fine super annoyingly silky hair would not hold that AT ALL. And forget volume, who is she, my hair knows no such thing. If I try to get a little volume bump in the front it just loosens my ponytail and causes my center part to come through. Long story short my hair sucks and idk why YouTube is recommending hair videos for me haha. Cool video though thanks for sharing!

Kellie Kamilian: Your family is amazing also I love when you do fab or fail products xx

Alana Alvarez: I love these thank you so much

Allison: The double elastic is actually very damaging for thick hair if worn routinely like that. The extra tension puts stress on the roots which can cause ballerina alopecia (forehead hairloss). I learned this from Chris Appleton.

Hope Hayley: fab or fails are the best! also i love your necklace mindy

Willa: i just went two weeks without washing my hair and by the end of the 2nd week it still smelled amazing! bc of hairitage! thank you!

Re: I love your videos. I love the fabs or fails so you can see if they are really worth buying for it.

Andrina: I love that you’re honest about your review

Anushikha Rawani: Yay! Waiting for a fab or fail so much, finally you made one. Love you mindy♥️

Hanaa and maariya Khan: Love ur videos hope you see this. Your family is so fun and amazing

Ally Barker: Mindy- Love your hair in a high ponytail ❤️❤️❤️ Love the mcknight’s

Victoria Castillo: I miss the Fab or Fails! I hope you do more of them!!!

Jenny Bell-key: One major con is they’re really expensive for what you get. Kind of gimmick-y, IMO. Thanks for the great review.

Slavinski: My goodness, i watched you years ago while the twins were still small. This is a first time YouTube recommend one of your videos in ages. Happy to see you are still making great content

Loria Crews: I love your vids so much and I love Brooklyn and Bailey!

Harmonie: Your videos are very helpful! Thank you!

Itarsi Sanskritik munch Itarsi: I am a big fan of your whole family and you all are doing a great job just keep it up love form India, namaste. ☺

Billy: I think this is very helpful thank you!! Also watching this channel makes my day❤️❤️❤️

Margaret Lisac: I’ve missed fab or fails! So happy to have them back

aliya hallick: Love your fam and all the videos!❤️

Lindsey Dodson: can u maybe have bailey do a diy on how she curls her hair? i have been wondering for a while

Claire Ellen: Awesome vid! I love your fab or fails!

Amelia Zidek: I love the fab and fails. I’m a huge fan of you mindy. I love you mindy. ❤️

Anick Gauthier: I keep seeing those hair ties called pro hair tie advertised on fb! Would love to see a review on that product!

Juliana Marie: Mindy looks so young!!! Her oldest are twins in their 20s wow.

Katee Eh: I had the exact same experience with it! I was so disappointed, especially since I have a couple as gifts lol!

Noemi Quezada: Love you guys can you do more fab or fails and I love your decor and all the tips on hair it really helps because I have 4 ft long hair

Faiza.Krishnarao: Your Fab or Fails are so fun!

Reffa the Rat: Oh my god and your pony stays in place, what a dream! My hair is way to shiny for that to be possible with any product.

Kaela B: my mom bought one for me and i couldn’t grab my hair with my fingers. i have super thick hair and once i got my hair through, it wouldn’t grip so i used a normal hair tie and then put it over the top and that works a lot better.

TwoLaLa: Yea with that thing you gotta be careful about the take down as well. It looks interesting so I still might give it a shot. I love trying hair gadgets. This was a great review Mindy!!

Noelle Wheeler: Mindy doesn't age, and if she does she just gets even more gorgeous!

Kelly T: love you guys!! i’ve been watching u guys do so many years now!!

Lyra Kapadia: Can u do another video on easy short hair styles? I love your previous ones and I want more

Danikaa Mahabir: I love your videos and your family thanks for making more videos

ThatWunFanGurl: If you like trying out hair ties, you should try out pro hair tie. Basically you put it in your hair and when you take it out you don't pull on your hair so you don't pull hair out. The way you take it out is by a clasp that they have on the hair tie so when you let down your hair the tie comes right out with no pain and no hair loss

Maggie: This is my favorite channel! I always look forward to your videos!

G. Fleming: I love your family! Can you make behind the braids longer!!??

Jeanne Coit: I asked for some of these for my birthday and was really hyped about (hoping they'd work) it cause normally elastics almost always give me headaches or hurt my hair and I have thin hair so it promised to make it look more full. buuuut these didn't live up to the hope I had for them. Too loose and eventually fall out/to a weird positions. Doesn't support the hair like it says. Disappointing. I've got 4 of them somewhere I think

Giselle122: The elastic I know are or can be tighter. But In general does the pony o hold hair in place comfortably w/o whipping your head around to see if it holds in place or loosen up? For myself & my daughter we both find the elastics are right which I know you would want but we both have thick hair & here is long. Thank you for sharing how this works.

Tanvi Shetty: I have been following cute girls hairstyles from past 3 years and even Brooklyn and Baily as well as Kamri Noel I love your fab or fail videos ❤️❤️ Love your whole family ❤️❤️ ❤️- Tanvi Shetty

Urvi Saran🧣: Love y'all McKnights...your entire fam has the best videos on YouTube (I came say that enough!)

Tia: I love you sooooo much y'all have helped me with my hair skills. I do my sisters hair for work I owe it all to u❤️

Trishitha T: I am getting Brooklyn vibes while Mindy is talking.. I love CGH...❤️

The learner: I have been a subscriber for years...so nice to come across cute girls hairstyles again ..

Flower Dolphin: My hair doesn't stay in high ponytails ever My hair is too heavy lol well, with normal elastics it does stay up, but I stopped using those. I only use scrunchies now because they don't leave a crease mark and they also don't pull my hair as tight.

AMama All-in-One: Hi! Do you think it’s worth buying these things rather than just learning how to make the styles themselves?? Lots of love for the whole fam!!

Gloria Mary Peter: Hoping u guys start shipping internationally soon!! I madly wanna try ur products. Love from India ♥️

Jane Budde: I got one after I broke my wrist and couldn’t twist a regular hair tie. It was horribly disappointing. I had to take it out multiple times and re do it. My hair is very thick and it’s heavy.

Debby Powell: I love your channel so much and I just got the styling head and it is so cool and I use it all the time

SerenityTravel1222: I love my pony-o’s. I have blonde hair now.... so I have to blonde colored ones. I use them in my hair when I’m working out because they don’t slip out. I do high intensity workouts and other things just slide down and fall right out. Never had a problem. Maybe people just need to practice with them more... because I couldn’t be happier with mine and how they look or work. But also, what works for one doesn’t work for others. I would say give it a try.... YOU might love it.

taylor grace✧: Who else loves Cute Girls Hairstyles?? ♡♡♡

Candi Lindsay: I just got a hairitage product and I love it!

Ellen Goodno: I really love ❤️ fab or fails

always alonah: omgggg i remember this channel! brooklyn and bailey was literally the first youtube channel i discovered <3

𝕐𝕠𝕦𝕣𝕃𝕠𝕔𝕒𝕝𝕍𝕚𝕣𝕘𝕠𝔸𝕟𝕥𝕒𝕘𝕠𝕟𝕚𝕤𝕥: I wonder if these would work better on different hair types, like ringlets or straight hair. I think it didn't work because of how thick your hair is. I have a friend with thin hair that this works great for, I have thick hair though so it doesn't work that well for me

kaitie648: I have thick hair and found these AWFUL. They’re painful and don’t look good at all, especially on me since I’m a blonde!

Diana Tavares: the accessory was kinda cute and the only thing worth investing in if you're into that! it's a fun thing to have :]

Venus and Serena: mindy is mom goals

Abiシ: Loved the hair flip, Mindy. ♥️

lu lu: You are so cute! I shared video with my daughter, she lives ponytails ❤ Thank you for your video

Alice Forster: Would love to see a video on how to manage frizzy hair and fly aways when doing hairstyles

Hafsah Qureshi: If I shook my head like that my ponytail would be miles away and my hair would be a mess! How does mindy do that?

Cecilia W: I have thicker hair and I bought 4 of these (2 thin and 2 thick ones in black) and it did not work for me unfortunately...and actually after the first day one of them started breaking apart where I could see the metal/copper piece inside...So it was a Fail for me ...

KJ Wrobel: awesome! do you think you could do some fall/halloween hairstyles?

DreamyGirl73: What about comfort? I find elastic bands can feel tight when they're pulling your hair, is that the case with the Pony-O?

EOK: pony o doesn’t stay on my hair. It keeps your hair up for 5 mins then it’s worse than regular hair tie.

It’Sarah💜: To whoever reading this: May all ur wishes come true, stay safe! Love from a positive Utuber

Setareh Pourfakhr: I love your necklace Mindy, it is so cute
