This is real. I contemplate hey guys, welcome back to my channel my name's Courtney and I provide all content on lifestyle travel and hair in this video. I'M going to take you guys, along with me, to the hair salon for my big chop. I know a lot of you guys are thinking what in the world are you doing? Why are you cutting your hair? Well, in all honesty, I really wanted a fresh new start for 2023.. I reached my max length of hair growth and over the past year I was putting so much heat on it. I noticed I had probably about four inches of heat damaged, hair. It probably didn't help that I went nine months without getting it trimmed, but in my defense, when I went to the hair salon every time I went there like no, your hair looks good. We can wait till the next month, but I would get busy and I would do my hair, so I wasn't going to the hair salon as frequently, but by the time December came around. I realized. I need to get my ends trimmed now. I hope you guys want to stick around while I regrow my hair and the next couple of videos, I'm going to show you guys some of the top growth oils that I use to grow. My hair, I'm also practicing some new protective styles, since I won't be putting a lot of heat on my hair with that being said, I'm still gon na flat iron, my hair, but I'm gon na try some different heat tools that I believe may leave less damage. I'M also going to make sure I get my regular trims. I have been preaching all of these tips and last year I did not follow any of it and look where we're at now. I am definitely an example of why you need to make sure you're not putting too much heat on your hair. You need to make sure that you're using the appropriate hair tools, as well as the appropriate growth oils, but I hope you guys want to stick around and follow me on that Journey. So this is one of my protective styles. I went ahead and put it in a bun, leaving my back hair out and then just add in a little cute little curl uh dangly up front. I don't even know what these things are called, but um yeah, you just put a little curl in it. So over the next couple of videos, I'm gon na be practicing uh protective styles on medium to short length. Hair, like I said, I'm also going to be showing you guys, the top hair growth oils and I'm going to give you guys updates on how long my hair is growing. Now this has been about a month since I cut my hair. I am late from recording this video. I am in a course that's required me to write a lot of papers, so I had to kind of take some time to focus that over the holidays to get my schoolwork done. So I do thank you guys for sticking around and I hope you guys enjoyed this video and I hope you guys enjoy the cut with that being said, if you enjoy this video and you want to follow the journey, go ahead and hit that subscribe button and If you like, the video make sure you hit that like button and leave a comment, so I just arrived to the salon, and at this point I was still unsure. If I was going to do a cutter trim either way. I was like I need to capture whatever I'm gon na do and, as you can see, everybody was staring so yes, this was a little embarrassing, but a girl's got to do what a girl's got. Ta do give me time to think my stylist decided to blow up my hair in case I wanted to cut my hair and at that point I was ready. I said just go ahead and cut it to the shoulders. The one thing I loved about the salon is the owner works there. She does hair as well, but she was also helping me trying to get my setup right. She was like you need to close the blinds if you could have put the camera over there and it was really helpful so next time I'm probably gon na bring an assistant. If I ever do this again, I did want to take a moment to highlight the salon that I'm at I get my hair done at dioli's, Hair Salon it's in Lanham Maryland and they have the best stylist that I've ever worked with in Maryland, not knocking anybody Else, but I truly love these guys and I always go to Trey, but sometimes I do sit with some other stylists if Trey's busy before we started, I asked Trey to take some pictures of my hair, as you can see, there's about two inches that need to Be cut off and another inch and a half to meet to the breakage in the middle, so in total I would have had him take off four inches if I was doing the trim now. Unfortunately, Trey was in front of the camera when he started cutting, but you will get to see he took off some lint. I honestly thought I would freak out, but surprisingly, this was very liberating. I felt like he was freeing myself from the shackles of my long hair, trying to maintain my hair at some point, became stressful and overwhelming over the years and always needing to have it done and just became a lot the amount of time it takes to get It done and then needing it to last through workouts or weather was just too much for me and when he started cutting it, I immediately felt free it's a hard feeling to describe, but it was definitely a stress-free moment prior to washing Trey only cut my hair To my shoulders, he planned to go back in and finish up the cut and style, one tea blow dried and flat ironed, my hair all right! So now the initial cut is done now we're about to head over to the bowl for Trey to wash my hair. I had a wash deep condition and a hydration treatment to restore the moisture in my hair. Here I am admiring the cut, so my hair is natural, it is not relaxed and in its natural state it looks like I have a bomb Jerry curl going on. My hair has never really curled, it's always been kind of wavy, but I was seeing some curls and I was getting a little excited tray prep, my hair, with some heat protectant before he went in to start blow drying. I love his blow drying technique. He will get your hair so straight just from the blow dry alone that you don't even really need to have it flat ironed after it's almost like a Dominican blowout without the excessive heat. I do not know how he does it, but he is the only person that I've ever sat with that has gotten my hair, so straight with the blow dryer. Now, if anybody's wondering Trey is not single, he is taken imma make sure I leave his IG in the description below. So you can go. Follow him. Here'S a better angle of the blow drying technique. He uses a detangle brush and a high grade blow dryer, but I'm pretty sure it's, because his hands are just gifted and they really know how to blow dry hair. I typically like my hair with a little bit more volume, so I could have honestly left out after he finished blow drying it, but we still had to go back in and finish the cut and take it up a little shorter. I think my camera died around this time, so I had to film the cut with my phone and let my camera battery charge for a little bit for the cut. He really didn't take that much more off. He really just kind of trimmed it and started to shape it a little bit as you can see here. My hair already looks pretty straight, and this was all done by the blow dryer. He really could have just slicked the edges down and I could have had it out, but that's not what I came here for so now we're going in with flat ironing my hair. I know you can't see it in my face, but I am absolutely loving. This cut, I know people cut their hair every day, but for me I've always focused on trying to have the longest healthiest hair out there. So I never really cut my hair short like this, so for all the long hair girls out there or girls who are afraid to cut their hair. The one thing I thought when I decided to do this was, I am not my hair and my hair will grow back. What'S funny is Rihanna's Black Panther song, Lift Me Up was playing as he was flat ironing my hair, and I was all in my feels so, if you're thinking about cutting your hair and starting with the fresh set of healthy hair, this is your sign. Go out and do it since my hair is already generally straight from the blow drying. The flat iron process always goes pretty fast. However, going into 2023 I plan to only put heat on my hair every so often I mentioned it earlier in the video, but you may only see my hair straight, maybe once every quarter, I really want to focus 2023 on healthy hair growth and also practicing on Keeping my curls so as he does some last final touch-ups, you can see that this will be the final look. So this is the final look. Let me know in the comments, if you like the haircut, if you guys want to follow the journey I'll be regrowing. My hair and showing you tips on the best hair growth oils, please feel free to subscribe, and if you like, this video make sure you hit that like button. I want to thank you guys for joining and see you guys next time. Bye, foreign

Tanya Heath: You did so well! Your hair looks BOMB as hell! I just damaged my hair AGAIN and I'm freaking out--it'll grow back for sure! I needed the sign to just go do it and do my absolute best to maintain and never trust just anyone to put heat on my poor protein sensitive hair! I got you for anything curly otherwise! So proud of you!! <3

Sister Love: I only cut my hair when it’s bone straight to get a more precise cut… it looks nice, your wash day is going to be a lot shorter and easier. I’m sure it will grow back faster and healthier. Tfs
