Natural Hair Rods & Rollers You'Ve Probably Never Heard Of | Try These Next!

Hey y'all welcome back to another video of, as always Aaliyah where we always keep it real now, y'all. If you are tuning in to this video, then you are most likely here, because you want to learn more about rod and roller sets in this video I'll, be showing you guys all of my rods that I own all of my rollers and all of my heat Free hair tools that I use to curl my hair, but without further Ado I'm sure you guys want to jump into the meat and potatoes of this video. I am breaking out my entire hair stash of hair tools, y'all and if you are someone who wants to learn how to do more rods and roller sets, then you definitely came to the right channel because my name is Aaliyah, and that is all I do here. I really try to Niche down in the natural hair community and just focus on rods and rollers, because I feel as though more people should be trying these intricate hairstyles. I probably have around maybe 15 different rods and rollers that I use in my hair. I'M gon na tell you guys, which ones I would recommend to you guys and which ones you might want to stay away from all right without further Ado. Let'S just go ahead and jump into it. This is in no particular order. Y'All, I'm gon na break out the first one right now all right y'all. So I have my first tool that I use right here now, just a friendly reminder. If you are new to my channel, I store all of my hair Tools in my Sheen or fashion Nova bags, they're huge they're, gallon bags, and this is what I like to personally use. So I can keep everything organized and I would definitely recommend that to you, as you start to grow your hair stash in your hair tools. It'S important that you stay organized, so you know where everything is at so try using either gallon bags or, if you shop, on Sheen fashion, Nova or similar websites like that keep the bag friend keep the bag all right, but without further Ado, let's open it up And I'm going to show you guys my first hair tool that I use on my channel to get my hair curly frame. Now these are jumbo rollers. This is how they look right here. Y'All I have a huge bag of jumbo rollers. I will have everything linked below for where you can get all of these hair tools at, and also the the video that correlates with the hair tool, because I did videos on all of this friends now for these rollers. I would recommend these jumbo rollers because I believe they're two inches in diameter. You have to have long hair for these ones. Specifically now, thank God. These rollers do come in different sizes, so try to get a size that matches with your hair length, not your density, not how thick or full your hair is you're, specifically focusing on the length of your hair when you are purchasing a roller y'all. So I have these ones right here. These were actually bit too big for me. I actually uploaded a YouTube short with this hair tool and it got over three million views, guys so I'll have that link below as well, but these are really popular if you want to go ahead and try some rollers, I absolutely love how the style turns out I'Ll try my best to have it on screen, so you guys can see, but yeah these rollers are really cool. My hair is pretty long, and these are actually a little bit too big for me, they're about two inches, if I'm not mistaken in diameter, I'll double fact check that and put it in the description below or on the screen somewhere of how why these rollers actually Are but just remember the longer your hair, the bigger the roller, the shorter, your hair, the smaller the roller should be so y'all. That'S that's the first one we're breaking out is the jumbo rollers super super cute, they're, so much fun to play in. Let'S move on all right friend, we are breaking out the next one, and that is y'all. I have here with me something that is very unpopular within the natural hair community and if there's like one thing that I want you guys to take away from this video try this hair tool, these are called Flex grip, rollers y'all, you have probably seen them debut On my channel multiple times, if not, this is how they look. They are extremely similar to flexi rods. However, you are supposed to bend and connect the ends where you can put them in just like that, and this will help create a beautiful heatless hairstyle. Now, the reason that I prefer Flex grip rollers over flexi rods is because these are a lot easier to install and they stay once you hook them together. They do not pop out at all and they make a beautiful hairstyle now with most rollers. These also do come in different sizes. I have here with me the orange and the red, but you can check out the website that I'll include below. I believe I got these off the Annie website, so I will have that link below so you can see which size you would like to try on your hair, but if there is one hair tool that I probably would recommend to you guys if you're just starting Your natural hair Journey, or you want to do more advanced hairstyles, try Flex grip rollers. I want to see this more in the natural hair community. More people should definitely be trying this hairstyle there's nothing to be afraid of y'all. I promise it's just like Plexi rods. So if you can do flexi rods, you can easily do Flex grip, rollers, so try these out as well. Okay. So while we're on the topic of flex grip rollers, I might as well show you guys my flexi rods. Next, I actually need to get a larger bag because they are starting to pop out y'all. So here are my flexi rods, and I also use this as a heat free, hair tool. Here'S how they look right here, if you guys have never seen flexi rods before they're a lot different from Flex grip rollers, because you cannot connect them at the ends. Now you can put flexi rods in multiple different ways and they're, also different sizes and colors that you can buy for your hair specifically, so I have here with me some small ones, some big ones, some fat ones, some skinny ones. These are all flexi rods and they make a beautiful hairstyle. Now these are a little bit harder than Flex grip rollers, but you'll get the same results. So again, if you are a beginner or just want to start trying new Styles, I would recommend starting with flex grip, rollers. And then, if you want to step up your game, you can go into flexi rods as well, but both make a really good hairstyle and with these ones you can actually wrap or roll your hair onto the flexi rod. So I will have that link below. Okay, let's see what's next y'all I got ta reach, I got ta reach in the beginning of the video. I told you guys. I will be recommending hair tools to you guys and I would also be telling you which ones you might want to stay away from and this one you might want to stay away from it, and these are called waveformers all right y'all. So let me take out my waveformers out the bag, we'll just grab a bunch here. You might have seen these circulating around on the internet on Tick, Tock or whatever app you guys use for your social media scrolling. I I just can go off of what I personally recommend, and these just did not work for my hair within like an hour. The waves came out and it was just poofy, and it was not worth it at all. If you want longevity, except for the curls or the waves to last, I wouldn't recommend this. I don't know what it is about this, because, because waveformers actually has a sister that we'll get into later in the video - and I would definitely recommend those ones to you, but for some reason, waveformers just don't work for me. They come in two different colors. You only can get well, they come in multiple colors, but I have them in pink and orange and, like I said I may try these out again in the future. If I have a video on these, I will link it below. I don't think I do. I think I just tried these on Instagram and they just didn't work for me, so I don't use them anymore, but comment below if you've ever tried waveformers and what were your results but yeah. So those are probably the only hair tools that I unfortunately would not recommend you trying me personally. I feel like it's just a waste of time, all right, y'all. We are moving right along with this video, and I have here with me another Sheen bag y'all. Now, if you can guess what these are, these are the newest rollers that I have added to my collection. I just dropped a video on this a few weeks ago and that is wire mesh rollers now with wire mesh rollers. There is a spring in there, so you can make them small and big you're really not supposed to do that, but I just love playing with them yeah. So these are called wire mesh rollers, as you can tell because they have wire and mesh on them. So the title fits perfectly and y'all. I got the most beautiful curls with this roller. This is the perfect size roller for my hair, and so, if you guys have similar hair like mine, then these rollers might just work for you and if I'm not mistaken, I do believe they come in different sizes. So I will have these also tagged below, along with the video that correlates to these rollers, because baby, it was phenomenal y'all, I absolutely loved on this style, and I cannot wait to break them out in a few months or a little bit later this year. We just dropped the video, so I'm gon na give it some time for maybe around the summertime, we'll break these bad boys back out all right y'all, let's move on okay y'all! So next I have an an OG with me. I have no idea why I did not transfer it over into a Sheen or fashion Nova back, so these are the only hair tools that I have in this random bag. I don't know what is this Dollar Tree? I'Ve been in a Dollar Tree bag. I don't even know y'all, but we are throwing it all the way back with this OG and that is perm rods. So here are your perm rods. My friend, these are the very very famous you will see these everywhere. Flexi rods and perm rods are like the staple within the natural hair community, and that's why I actually try to stay away from them, because I want to bring you guys, different hairstyles on my channel and introduce you guys to different tools on my page. I get so many comments saying I've never seen that before I've never tried that before, and that is exactly why I'm here I want to introduce to my audience. That'S you friend, new hair tools that you can be using without heat to roll your hair. So, even though we have the famous perm rod and it makes a beautiful, beautiful, curly hairstyle - I personally do like these, because, with these, my hair lasts all week long with no problems, and I can do a lot of different styles with perm rods too. Now also with perm rods, you have a few different sizes here as well. So if you want to go small, if you want to go a little bit bigger, you certainly can but, like I said, most people have seen perm rods before it's pretty much a staple within our community. But I want you guys to try different and more advanced Styles than this. If you have not seen how to do perm rods, I'm sure I have a video on my channel, so I will try to find it and link it below. But if I cannot find a video, then I will certainly do a video on how to rock perm rods, y'all, alright, throwing this away and then moving right along okay, friends, I'm so excited for this one. I'M so excited, that's so excited. So this is another hair tool. This is not either a rod or a roller. This is a heatless hair tool that you use to curl your hair, and these will give you some beautiful overnight curls and that is the Octo curl y'all. I just dropped a video on the Octo curl, so I will definitely have that tag below and again I love the packaging. First of all, it is so cute like come on sis. She did that that is so cute. So this is how the Octo curl looks. I will break this bad boy right on out. This is called the Octo curl and if you guys want to learn how to use this properly, I will have a video linked below here. Are the curly ends how to secure your ends? I did a step-by-step tutorial recently like real, like maybe a week ago, on how to use the Octo curl y'all, and I will have a link below where you can actually purchase it right off of the website. But this is the Octo curl they make beautiful overnight. Heatless curls and I would definitely recommend you to use it. It takes a while to get used to because it's like I've never tried this before. What is this on my hair, but I give you guys a step-by-step walkthrough on how to properly secure it on your hair, how to properly secure the ends, how to get a cute and curly hairstyle friend. So if you guys want to learn more about octo curl I'll, have this link below as well, and I heard from a little birdie that this company may or may not be dropping some new heat free hair tools. So make sure you guys stay tuned on the octocro website and their socials to see what they're dropping or may not be dropping all right guys, let's move right along okay y'all. So this is another one that is not really popular within our natural hair community and curly hair community. More people should really be trying these Styles, like I'm, trying to help you friend I'm trying to help you so that is these are called Loop rods. Let me break them out of the bag y'all. These are called Loop rods, all right y'all. So, as you can see, they are not that famous as they should be within the natural hair community. Now these have pros and cons, and I'm going to go over everything right now, so the pros are bro. If you want your hair to last, you go ahead and get you a loop Rod. I am not playing these like on the second week. They look like. I just did the hairstyle you're not supposed to use a lot of hair when you're wrapping it around the loop Rod so like your curls are just so defined they literally last into like the second week. You can probably make them less into the third week, but I got ta wash my hair. I can't do all that, but that's useless you do you get somebody else to do it. I don't know that, but they definitely last you like two to three weeks, and so these definitely compare to my um Flex grip rollers that I showed you earlier, because with flex grip, rollers and with Loop rods, you can connect the ends and loop. It just like that and that's how it's supposed to dry in your hair. I actually used these years ago and they are still kicking in y'all. So I gave you all the pros, but let me give you one con, there's only one. Unfortunately, these do sometimes pop out. You will have to keep popping them back in or if you want to just leave it out, I understand, but they do pop out pretty easily so, unlike Flex grip rollers that do not pop out at all, your loot rods May pop out when you are trying To sleep in them, or you might be trying to dry your hair and you're sitting under a hooded dryer, and you just feel like them popping. You will never experience that with black strip rollers, but you may with Flexi Rods, not saying that it's going to change the style if it pops out, because you're still going to have beautiful, curly hair but just be cognizant. I think that's the word cognizant or cautious that these do or May pop out, but, like I said these, create such a beautiful um hairstyle. I actually put these on my best friend and that video got over 3 million views y'all on Tick Tock. I believe so I'll have that link below. If you want to see it as well, but I'm telling you if you start putting rods and rollers in your hair, the curlfriends will start coming. They will support you, and I want to thank you guys for supporting me all right, let's move on and let me just break those out right now: y'all and y'all. These are jumbo perm rods. Look how big they are look, how beautiful these are wow this size. I believe it's an inch or an inch and a half, and it works perfect perfect for my hair and again my hair goes down to around my chest when it's blown out or straight, and I really really love these. I have a full, oh Jesus. I have them all right here, sort away carefully in my Sheen bag. You can kind of see them hanging out in there, but yes y'all. I really really like this style. I do have a video on this as well: either a tick tock or a YouTube video. So I will have that linked, but most likely, the next time I put rollers in my hair. It'S probably going to be a jumbo perm rod set because this hairstyle is so cute. You get the cutest curls and I just love it. Y'All and I've been like learning new ways on how to advance my roller sets. Uh in my last video I just did with a roller set. I actually wind up combing out the rollers, and I got this really really pretty hairstyle style. We are on like day four or five here, but still baby still we're still looking good friend, we still looking good so yeah. These are perm rods, y'all they're jumbo perm rods, and I would definitely recommend them to you. I don't see these a lot in the natural hair community, it's normally the smaller ones. So, if you want to take a risk, y'all take a risk, take a risk and just try something new. That is my message, for you today is to try something new with your natural hair all right. So let me zip that back on up, that's how I keep them secure. We just zip, lock it back on up and now we can move on. Okay, since I've shown you guys my jumbo perm rods, I might as well show you guys my jumbo flexi rods, y'all, look at these beautiful, beautiful, flexi rods. This is what they look like. They are huge. They are huge friend like they are really really big. When I do these, I actually do the Horseshoe method, so I will break it down like that and then I'll put hair on this side and I'll also put hair on this side as well. I have a video on this, so I will link it below for you guys to see. I don't think it's a YouTube video. I think I just did this on Instagram if I'm not mistaken, but I can certainly show you guys how I use my jumbo flexi rods now remember when you are dealing with jumbo hair tools, the curls are not going to be as defined, but you will have All the volume in the world, if you want to take a leap of faith, if you want to take a risk, go ahead and get you some jumbo flexi rods. These things are huge and you only need, like maybe three or four on each side, because they're that big. So definitely let me know if you guys want to see a step-by-step tutorial on how I do these. Because again, I think I just have them on Instagram, but I can definitely show you guys a tutorial on how to rock this hairstyle and again I do the Horseshoe method. It just works a little bit easier for me, so I don't have to have a lot of these in my hair, all right y'all. So let me put this away and we'll keep moving forward. Okay, friends, as you can see by the smile on my face, I'm so excited to talk to you guys about these, because I do see some curly girls trying this hairstyle out and that is my spoolies. I have them stored away beautifully in my Sheen bag y'all. Why is there no thingy? Where did where does this thing at y'all like how did how did that happen? There is no zip. How do I get these open friends? Oh, and now I just rip the bag y'all. I don't even know how I did that. Okay, I got it open, but I ripped my bag. Luckily, I have some extra ones on hand, so let me go ahead and break it on down break it on down friend. So let me show you guys what the spoolies actually look like, because I have tons of them in here. I ordered them twice, so I have like double what the normal person would have, but these are which your spoolies look like y'all and if I'm not mistaken, this video did very well on my channel. You can see that they come in two different sizes. You have your log, your large spoolie, and you have a small spoolie as well. Now the large spoolie I prefer to use, because my hair is just a little bit thicker. You do not want to overload these with hair y'all and then also keep in mind that these do slip. So the best way to avoid that, I actually have a step-by-step video on how I get these to not slip in my hair y'all. So if you want to see that, if you are somebody who used spoolies in the past - and you are turning your nose up like girl - they don't work, they slip, they don't curl. I have the perfect video for you friend. I show you guys, step by step. How to make these not slip, how to keep them tight? How to do these from start to finish? So, let's just keep on moving all right, so the next product I have to show you guys are called magnetic rollers and again. I do not know why they are in this bag. I need to get more big Sheen bags. I think that's the problem. I think I ran out of the big Sheen bags, and now we're just storing them in is this Walmart. This is Walmart friend I'll, be storing them in our Walmart and Dollar Tree bags, so these are called magnetic rollers. I just use these on my hair not too long ago. This is how they look y'all, and you are supposed to place it just like that on your hair, snapping it and it makes a beautiful, beautiful roller set. So I have a video on this hairstyle. I think it did really well if I'm not mistaken, like really really really well, if I'm not mistaken, so I will have this link below as well, but this is just your typical roller, but instead of securing it with bobby pins, like I normally do you just Place this right on top and it don't move friend, it don't move, so you should be good to go and they also has holes in there. So if you do sit under a hooded dryer, the airflow is a allowed to access through the holes and help dry. Your hair a little bit quicker, so I have a full tutorial on this style as well y'all. If you want to try magnetic rollers and they do come in all different shapes and sizes, so you can find the one that perfectly matches for your hair. I think this is about an inch or an inch and a half. If I'm not mistaken, those are your rollers y'all get you some magnetic Rolex frames stop playing. I know this is like the grandma style, but you don't be a grandma when you take it out and you be walking there, everybody be looking like. Oh who that girl don't worry about it, don't worry about it. Sweetheart don't worry about it. Okay, we rod and roller over here baby we ride and roller all right. Let me stop talking and grab the next set of hair tools, all right friends, so I have here with me. I only broke this out, maybe once or twice it kind of went viral, not my video personally, but this hair tool went viral on, I believe Tick Tock, once a person did it and it just shot up, but I am talking about the Pearl ribbon y'all. So let me break it on out friend. Does this look familiar y'all? This is called the curl ribbon. This is how it looks. I don't have a YouTube video on this, so I might have to do one for you and I'm happy, I'm actually going through. All of my stuff, so I know what videos I can make for you guys, but yeah. This is called the curl ribbon. You just put it on like that. You wrap your hair around it on both sides. I'Ve actually seen some people use two in their hair, but one is enough for me and I can make this work now. You do get nice wavy hair with this hairstyle, and it also is very comfortable to sleep in as well. I think I have a tick, tock or Instagram video on this. So I'll show that to you guys, you know I'm trying to see what else is in here I got all types of um. Oh, that is pretty. Let me show you guys, I'm like what else is in this bag. These are hair clips. So this is what you would use to clip it, because when you put it on, you have to like clip it to the top. So when you're rolling your hair around it, it doesn't move ain't. That'S pretty, and I got this one too, so these ones actually came with the curl ribbon. So, if you guys want to, you can purchase it off Amazon and you'll, get like all these really cool clips and stuff. The ones on Amazon are they're, not pricey. However, you can find the curl ribbon Dirt Cheap on, like Sheen fashion Nova. I think Teemo tumu, whatever that website is called, I think it's Teemo um. They have them on there for like two dollars or three dollars as opposed to Amazon, where you have to spend like 19.99. So if you want to try this out, I would recommend going to Sheen or Teemu or even fashion Nova and see if you can find the curl ribbon, that's what it's called all right. So let me go ahead and store this away, and then I'm gon na show you guys what we have next. We only have three more hair curling tools that are heatless to go over y'all, so hang in there all right friends, I have something that is near and dear to my heart. I attempted to do the world's smallest flexi rod y'all. I have it right here. These are really teeny, weeny, tiny, shiny flexi rods, and I will show them to you. I actually have one set left that is not out the bag, yet there are, if I'm not mistaken, 120 flexi rods in this bag. Look at all of them they're, so pretty and I'll break it down. So you guys can see how skinny these ones actually are. So I went ahead and did a challenge on myself on YouTube. I was like, I wonder if I can do the world's smallest flexi rod, so I went ahead and did that video. It performed very well if you guys want to check it out. I put 60 on this side. I put 60 on that side and before you know it, I had like 120 flexi rods in my hair. It was absolutely hilarious, but the result wasn't funny honey. The results I killed it. I killed those results. But I love the pink love, love, love it all right. So let me go ahead and break down my last two uh rollers that I have all right. So these are actually what I did to get these beautiful curls. I not only use the rollers, but instead of me separating the rollers once they dried. I took them out of my hair. I went ahead and combed them out with a wide tooth comb and that's how I was able to get so much volume with this hairstyle. These are a few days old. I do also go to the gym, so my curls, don't unfortunately last as long as I would like them to, because I sweat My Curls out at the gym, but I prefer health over my hair. So if I can do a nice, curly hairstyle and show you guys, but by day three four and five, it looks like this, which still looks cute, don't get it messed up, still look cute all right. Let me go ahead and show you guys the next one. I have - and these are just more rollers, more rollers y'all, so these rollers come in all different shapes and sizes. I'M trying to like look at that. Look at that y'all! Oh, look! It doesn't fell out, I'm trying friend. So you can see. These are all the different sizes, and then I have some red ones. I have some turquoise ones. The turquoise and red were the ones I used in my hair. So I just just dropped a video on these. If you guys want to check that out, look you got like these little tiny, blue guys. I will have this link below where I got these from. These are called magnetic rollers, and this is how they look they're, so so pretty, and they also come in different sizes as well. I'M looking for like this smaller one, so you can see they also have the half size rollers. If you have like thinner, hair or if you're doing a section that isn't too too big, you have like the smaller rollers as well. So again I just dropped it. I feel like I keep saying I just dropped the video, but I did it's the truth. Y'All. I upload three videos a week on YouTube. Just for you guys, I'm a full-time content creator and I love being in the natural hair community and showing you guys new ways that you can style your hair without heat, using rods and rollers. So that's what I do and I'm going to keep screaming it from the mountaintops, because there's always somebody new on my channel. Can you guys guess what it is? Can you guys guess what have we not spoken about that? I absolutely love on this channel. I am talking about the famous my favorites. I want to say phrase, but it kind of is it's like it's giving top five energy. It is giving top five energy and that is CurlFormers. I love me some CurlFormers. I love me some CurlFormers here they are right here. Y'All, I'm gon na show you guys how they look. I have seen CurlFormers in different colors. I personally have the orange ones and the pink ones as well, and you can also get them in long or short form so I'll have that um link below on my Amazon. It'S in my Amazon store so I'll have it linked below. Also, I will um tag. The corresponding video that goes along with that, because CurlFormers frame now some people do complain that these don't last long that they slip out um that they can't pull it through. There'S a lot of technique that goes behind CurlFormers. This is an advanced hairstyle. I would definitely definitely label CurlFormers as an advanced hairstyle. You need hooks. I have like one here if you've never seen CurlFormers before you're like how do you get it in your hair? You actually need Hooks and you would put these together and then you take your curl former and you have to slide it through the hook. Just like that, and then you would hook it onto your hair and pull it through, and then your hair will be caught in here, creating a beautiful spiral. Curl now, like I said, some people do say that they have a hard time hooking it through or that they're it's not turning out correctly. It doesn't dry properly. I'M not sure what your problems that you are having, but I talking about everything from start to finish. In that YouTube, video y'all, so if you want to see how to properly use install wear and maintain the curlformer hairstyle, please please please go check out that video. I will have it tagged below and I like CurlFormers, because the drying time is really easy. I don't know if you guys can see that, but there are holes little tiny holes in there. So when you are sitting under a hooded, dryer you're able to the heat is able to access the actual hair, thus drying it a lot quicker. Now again, I don't have any problems with CurlFormers. I think that me, using these Heat, free hair tools for so long. My hair has kind of adapted to it, because when I hear other people saying like hey, I tried and I failed it's like I. I don't know, I don't know it might be your hair type, it might be you're using the wrong size. I have no idea what the problem is that you guys are maybe facing I'm actually going to open up this year.
