Hey guys, it's your girl, kc welcome back! Welcome back now. If i stutter that's because there's someone else in this room say: hey papa papa bear who was listening, that shouldn't be listening, but that's okay, but today we're going to talk about starter locks with relaxed hearing before i get started. Don'T forget to smash that like button hit that subscribe button and tell a friend to tell a friend to tell a friend to do what that's right subscribe to the channel, but guys. So if you haven't seen my last videos, i revealed my locks. They were fresh um, they were so beautiful, although they're still beautiful, i'm about two weeks in and if you haven't seen that video go ahead and check it out in the description below. But i've had my starter locks for about two weeks now and i think they're starting to kind of sort of lock, and i i have relaxed hair prior to getting my hair locked and i had to do a couple things before i went and got my hair Done or the locks weren't going to really form, so i'm going to give you guys three tips. If you have relaxed hair of what you should and shouldn't do before you start your lock journey and get your starter locks so number one. If you have relaxed, hair or texturized here, do not put a texturizer or relaxer in your hair for at least two months, you need your roots to grow out that your roots are. What'S going to save you when i got my hair done, she asked me when my last texturizer was - and i said it was about two months ago and she said good, because if my hair was freshly relaxed, she was gon na, send me home packing. So it's really hard to start dreadlocks with relaxed hair. So let your roots grow out, don't put a texturizer in it, don't put a relaxer in it. Just let it grow out, and i know it might look crazy for a while. But if you want to start your loc journey, you really need your roots to be really thick and really help your dreads start to form so do not relax your hair. Do not texturize your hair, now number two. In addition to not texturizing or relaxing your hair, you should not put any heat on your hair. You want your hair to be full, you want it to be thick, so what i suggest doing is washing your hair and letting it air dry. Now that doesn't mean you, don't comb it or put any conditioner in it. No, you don't want your hair to get all matted up, but what you do want to do is just put some conditioner in it. Braid it up and let it air dry. You want your hair to be as thick as possible because if you have a texturizer or relaxer and then when you like dry your hair and you use a blow dryer or a flat iron, your hair is going to be like really stringy and limp and you're. Not going to really like your dreads or your starter locks, so don't use a relaxer and don't use any heat. Just let your hair air dry. Let it try to get like really let it try to get more full like. Even when i had a texturizer or relaxer, if i didn't use any heat or use a blow dryer or a flat iron, my hair would be more full and thicker. So no heat no relaxer for about two months straight and you should be good to go now. I'M gon na show you guys um what the dreads look like. I'M gon na take down one of these twists over here. I already took it down and then i was like. Oh my gosh. Oh no and i had to re-twist it guys because it looks so crazy, but the dreads they're not gon na, be super super full or super thick because most of my hair is relaxed. So you have to keep that in mind that you're gon na likely be be rocking like a lot of up dudes uh playing around with different scarves. I'M sure if you saw my last video, i can't even get this rubber band out. Oh, my god, i'm sure if you saw my last video, you would see that i was playing around wearing these cute scarves that i got from a fabric store and it was so cute. Maybe i'll insert a picture here all right. So this is what they'll look like guys. Should i take my earring out? Is it blocking your view from seeing what the dread looks like so they're look they're, tiny! You see how tiny these are and mind you. I have thick hair like even when she was twisting my roots. She was like. Oh my gosh girl. Your hair is so thick, like you're gon na have beautiful dreads, but right now with the texturized hair that i have. This is what this is. What i got it's and most of it's not even like in that little spiral curl. This is all out. This is all out and i'd say the spiral stops like right here, but it's gon na be thin guys and she cut some sections of my hair off. I really don't know why um well. I do know why. I guess you know it can't she could she couldn't do much with it, but some sections are a little more shorter than others um. I don't know, but eventually over time. Honestly, this sections or the ends of my hair, i'm gon na - be cutting them off because my dread itself is going to be so much more thicker. But just know your hair is not going to be that full guys. But as long as you don't put a relaxer in it put a texturizer in it, you can start the process because it's the roots, it's that new growth, that normally you would put that texturizer or perm on, but the new growth is what's going to save you. I don't think i've ever took out this part. Let me see how it looks. It probably looks so crazy ow. I don't know what's going on right here. Oh, maybe it's like the products used that kinda had it set, but i think you guys can see that you're likely not gon na be wearing your hair down, especially if you have relaxed hair. It'S gon na look a little crazy, as you can see so you're going to be wearing updos you're going to have. You know, stringy looking dreads at first, but in the end that looks so crazy. It makes me want to twist it back up like right now, but in the end it's going to look all beautiful and your dreads are just going to blossom into these beautiful, thick dreads. So don't mind this phase guys it's just a phase, but if you want to start with your relaxed hair and not completely cut all your hair off i'll, take this over being completely bald. I don't think i could do it i'll. Take the little stringy dreads and twist them up all day long before i just chop off all my hair, but that's me like you could chop it off start fresh, have like those little tiny, dreads nah. I decided to do it this way. So as long as you, so as long as you don't put a relaxer in it, don't put a texturizer in it, put no heat, not even a blow dryer. If you blow dry, your hair, put it on cool, put it on a cool setting. You don't want any heat, you don't want anything to thin out your hair. You want your hair to be as thick as possible during this appointment, but make sure you keep it brushed and moisturized, because when she was going through those roots, oh it hurt. Like you know how your hair gets all all tender, when you got new growth, it hurt so bad when she was sectioning out those roots, but those roots is what helped the dreg form and what she was able to work with. So if you stick to those tips guys, i promise you can start your dreadlocks and start your lock journey just like me, but anyways. I just want to share that with you guys, because i was looking for this information prior to even starting my lock journey and i couldn't really find it so i'm kind of sharing what i learned as i go with you guys, and i hope this helps someone So if this helped you go ahead and leave a comment in the comments below if you're starting your lock journey, and you have relaxed here and you're going to try these tips out. Let me know, let's support each other on this lock journey guys. I can't wait to share this journey with you guys, so don't forget to smash that like button hit that subscribe button and turn on that post notification bell. Miss Kay Cee: 3rd tip: make sure you deep condition and Detangle your roots. It will help with parting when you get your starter locs. The Parting was kinda painful for me! Hope this helps! Don’t forget to like comment and subscribe! ❤️

Kia: I appreciate this content!! It's been a year and a half since I got my texturizer but my hair was damaged from blow drying it. I haven't blow dried in two months so I'm excited to start my journey!

L. Bell: I started my mine with heat damaged ends..I wear a lot of braid outs just so I can wear my hair down I love the crinkle look

Adeoti Wewe: I'm one month in with relaxed ends. Before I installed my locs I was six months post relaxer and I used the interlocking method.

Danielle Shears: Thank you! this was very helpful

Karrye Flowers: You won’t have to cut most of those ends off because they’ll just break off over time.

Deborah Houston: You should have someone do instant locs on the processed hair and it will be thick and you could keep it like our white counter parts who have thick locs. Do your research and consider doing that.

Dee: So helpful!

Eva Carattini: I’m jut starting my loc journey with texturized hair smh ‍♀️ I recently dyed my hair honey blonde than after 5 MOs try a texturize-Er smh needless to say my hair nearly fell all out and and I was left with less than half my hair and I wanted to start my lox journey by Dec my 50 th bday but was left with no choice but to start it now with less than half my hair it’s not as bouncy and full as it could be but I will have to settle for stringy and patience until all my hair grows back and then I can really embrace my natural hairs locs journey I just can’t cut it off and start with nothing I’ve always had hair on head. And besides summer will be over b4 we know it and living in NY I will need my hair, God bless all of us starting a new loc journey. Make sure it’s what you really want I’m so ready I can appreciate whatever the journey I know it will get better with time and TLC
