Hey guys welcome back to my channel, so in today's video we are going to be talking about the difference between low manipulation, styles and protective styles. They are two different things that people use interchangeably. So without further ado, let's get started, you might be wondering low manipulation. Styles, protective styles: are they not the same? No guys they are not the same. So many people um confuse these words and use them interchangeably, but guys i can assure you they are not the same. The truth is all protective. Styles are low manipulation, styles, but not all low manipulation. Styles are protective styles. Now before we continue this video, i made an announcement one of my previous videos, um in case you missed that video in case you are new here. What i said was that there's um a new update on this channel yeah. You um just comment whatever you want to see like your challenges, your worries, any questions. You may have any video. You want to see whatsoever just leave it in the comment section down below and what i'll do is i'll pick them one after the other and make a video on them to provide solution to your challenges. To help as much as i can to the best of my knowledge so that we can all grow together in this hair journey. Now, back to this video, like i said, all protective styles are low manipulation, styles, but not all low manipulation. Styles are protective styles. Now, what are the difference between these two or? What is the main difference between these two protective style, just like the name implies, is to protect your hair is to help it length. Retention is to grow. Your hair is to protect your hair from breakage from damage and other, so protective styling is more concerned about the ends of our hair. Like i always say when it comes to length retention, your ends is the key. Your ends is the focus because, if your ends are healthy, trust me, you see light retention, because your hair is always growing from the roots. There'S always new fruits hair does not stop cream. Most people may feel their hair may still break. That'S not true when your hair is at a plateau, and what platoon basically means is that your hair remains at the same length for a long period of time. What it means is that the rate at which your hair is breaking like the red out with the ends of your hair is breaking it's equal to the red at switch. It is green, so that is why you see no difference in length for your hair is always great, because if it's not grey, how come there's always new growth for you to relax so guys your hair is always growing. The problem is with light retention. So what protective styling does is so focus on the ends, make sure our ends are protected, make sure our ends are tucked away, make sure our hands are healthy. That is the purpose of protective styling. The method cause of protective styling is on the ends of your hair and that's why, if you do a protective style correctly, you are going to see a positive difference in length retention. Now, let's come back to low manipulation cells, just as the name implies low manipulation. Styles are styles that does help you to stop, manipulating your hair or reduce the manipulation on your hair. It does not necessarily mean your ends are tucked away or your ends have been protected or they are being kept in a healthy state. It just means that it's reducing the frequency at which you are going to style your hair to if you are going to manipulate your hair. Now let me give you an example: um, let's pick a protective style example box: braids, okay, i don't know why this is the first example to come to my mind because i'm on box braids, currently, okay, so box braids are low, manipulation. Styles. You know why, because you're not going to be combing your hair during this period, you're not going to be touching your hair you're not going to be styling your hair every day you are not going to be manipulating your hair every day, so box braids are low. Manipulation styles, but at the same time, box braids are protective styles, especially when your box braids, are in a bun most of the time, my braids actually in a pond. I just brought them out for the purpose of this video. You know this is a hair channel. So i have to at least show some hair, so that's why i brought it out and actually immediately after this video, i'm going to put it back in a bone. So when your ends are tucked away like that box, braids are protective styles. So you see that ball, sprints are both protective styles and low manipulation. Styles, like i said, all productive styles are low manipulation, styles, but not all the manipulation. Styles are protective styles. Now let me pick another example wash and goes wash and goes a long, manipulative style like when your hair is in your wash and going i'm not going to be i'm coming your hair every day. Obviously, you're not going to be manipulating your hair too much, maybe basically the manipulation. The combination and all that is reduced on your hair, but now wash and goes are not protective styles. You know why, because your ants are exposed, especially when you're rubbing on your shoulders. Rubbing on your clothes rubbing on the wall being exposed to the environment, so um, the sun, the wind and all that you can see that in washington goes your ends are not protected. It just helps you to manipulate your hair less, but your ends are still as supposed to damage through different factors, so you can see that wash angles are low, manipulative styles, but not protective styles, so guys, that's the main difference between low manipulative styles and protective styles. So if you have any more questions feel free to leave them in the comment section down below and i'll make sure to reply you by either making a video on it, so that i can answer your question in detail.
