Hi and thank you for joining me for tonight's tutorial. I am pam wiggly and i'm just going to adjust the camera just a little bit. That'S a little bit better than i can get a bit closer better. So i'm pam wrigley and i am a wedding makeup. Artist and hairstylist and tonight i'm going to show you how to create a fabulous little kind of half up style that i actually created on uh. I did a trial. No, it started off with a half up style, but then i couldn't change it into a bun and it's a trial that i did last week on friday and she's going to be getting married, this friday actually um. So i thought i'd share it with you now, if you have any questions about the style as we go along as we go through the tutorial just get in touch with me. Put your put your message into the chat box and i will do my best to get back to you straight away. Now it could be a question about tonight's style. It could equally be a question about anything to do with working as a bridal hair stylist. Now we do already have a. We have an online training platform that people can join and learn kind of close up and in detail how to become a bridal hairstylist and you can sit your exams and get your certificate. But here on youtube: every week we do a kind of little taster, so i'll show you how to create the styles that i'm creating as i'm working with my brides, and we go through step by step. How to create these different looks. So, as i say, if you have any questions, please just pop your questions into the chat box, hi louisa, thank you for joining me today, so for this particular style, as you can see, i've already kind of done, half of the hair prep. Well, i've done the hair prep and i've done kind of half of the style. So when i went to see this lady last week, she had just kind of hair similar to this practice head just below kind of show her shoulder and she thought she wanted um. Well, actually, what she did want was a half up, half down style, but she wasn't sure whether she wanted a curl or a wave. We tried a few different curls. She decided she didn't want the wave, so we tried. Instead, i did two different colors on one side added straightener curls. On the other side, i did curls with the tongs and they both looked very different. We created our piece a little height here, so i've put some mousse in her in her hair, got some texture in there and created a little piecey work here and then at the back. Well, actually i did the whole head in the two different types of curls. So here it's very subtle. This difference, i'm hoping you can see, but this side, i've curled with the tongs and here what i did i can get this out. That'S it so i'm not. I have actually already curled it, but i'll show you what i did with the tongs. So here i took the hair: let's get a piece here and wrapped it around the tongs, keeping the hair flat on the tongue. So you get more of a kind of corkscrew curl and then on this side i did a slightly softer curl. So here what i did was i took the tongs. Let me see make sure you can see to the end of the hair like that, and then i just took the tongs twisted the tongs and went up the hair so with when you curl it like this. You end up with a kind of slightly tighter curl at the end, but just a bit of movement kind of on the mid length of the hair. So you get a very different look and, depending on your client, you know she might decide she wants it. A little bit curlier, maybe if her hair drops quickly or she just prefers the curly look or maybe she wants to keep the length of the hair, because this is just a little bit longer and it's less curly. So she may prefer these kind of softer curls. But that's what the trial is there for, so you can try out different ideas and then i created so once i'd curled the hair. We created a secured a little bit of height here. We brought these side sections around with a little twist, leaving a little bit of hair down at the front and twisted those side sections and secured them at the back. Now we do have quite a few. The reason i did this reason i've already done. This is because we have quite a few tutorials, where we kind of show you how to do really pretty kind of half up half down styles, whether or not it's with just the twists at the side or we've done ones with braids at the sides. So i haven't kind of gone over that ground for this particular style, because i just wanted to show you what you could do if your clients kind of, if she kind of liked the style me with my with this lady, we just kind of said well, maybe She'Ll be just as a last minute thing: she decided she liked the curls with the straighteners, she loved the half up half down, and i just said to her: shall we just try a quick updo just to see so we tried it and she loved it. So when you do a trial quite quite often what i find you can do is you can go from one style to another. So here we've already got two styles: we've got the different curls, the tighter curls, the softer curls. You could maybe do one side with a braid one side with a twist just so your client gets different ideas. So now, let's give it a go, creating a bun and let's see if she likes she prefers that. So you can use a little bit of padding, which i actually didn't use for the trial. But i'm going to use it today, because if you want to do this style and you want it to stay up, then it does help to have a little bit of kind of an anchor a bit of security there so but on the trial. I just quickly did it went on straight onto the next step, which i'll show you in a minute because she wasn't going to keep the hairstyle up, so we didn't need it to stay. So i'm just going to use a couple of bobby pins just across the back of the padding here and then we've got some bobby pins across the back here. So i'm just going to use my up and over and secure the padding to the to the hair. I'D say it's already really nice and secure. So i met a lady actually the other earlier this week at who's, one of our followers one of our subscribers. She met me in ikea of all places and came up and said hi, so it was lovely to meet her so shelby from werneth if you're watching today hi and it was lovely to meet you the other day. So, let's keep going just make sure your padding is really secure. So wherever you see me out and about come up and say, hi, okay, that's it lovely right! So we've got our anchor here a little bit of padding and the padding make sure when you create this style that the padding is really secure and then literally all i did because it was like you know. It was kind of like just really quick and last minute, this style, but she's actually going to have this for her wedding day. So i'm going to get the curls here and i could include that one yeah i'll include that and what i did was i put because the hair was kind of relatively short and without the padding, and it really did need to make sure i needed an anchor. So i've got a little elastic band, but it still helps with the padding. So you can use this anchor with or without padding a little elastic band and twist and pull that little section out and pin it just to secure it to this padding. So literally it is such you know when you're working with brides, especially if you're doing a trial run, then you kind of you want to try different ideas. Let me just separate some of these curls. You don't necessarily want to have to take every style out and start all over again. So quite often you can go from one style to another, so you can pick up the curls you can twist them. You can loosen them a little bit and then we're going to pop another hair band onto here. Let'S just decide which way we want this to go a little twist. This practice head, the hair is a little bit fine. I think we'll have enough hair here. So twist gather it together, get it all, really lovely and loose, and you can use a little pin that one's pulled out a little bit too far. That'S it! You can use your pins to prop this hair in place. That'S it until you're happy with the position. That'S it and because the hair is kind of gathered together with the band this one needs pulling in a little bit here, because the hair is actually we could leave that down. You know that looks nice down, because the hair is gathered together into the elastic band. It kind of gives it a it looks really soft, but it's actually really secure and then we're gon na do our last one over here. So you might decide to have a few little bits down just to give it that gorgeous soft look gather together. Twist put an elastic band on the end. So when i do this job, when i do this hairstyle for my lady on friday, i'm going to create the same half up, half down style and i'm going to do exactly what i'm doing today. But if you're not sure - and you want to kind of see things a bit closer - maybe you want to learn about the hair prep, so you'll find all about the hair prep on our e-learning site. So please just get in touch. If you want any information on how to become a bridal hair stylist, let's just pop this prop this up and i've got my padding there, of course, that always helps hi sharika and it's a really super quick style. Once you've got the half up, half down cell. So it's fabulous this, as i say, if you're doing a trial and you want to kind of transition from a half up style to a kind of quick gorgeous low bun. All you need to do really if you've got a bit of padding great. If you don't have a bit of padding with you for the trial, then you can always just use the the um, the elastic bands, to grip they the little ponytails in place, but i would suggest on the wedding day, it would be better to use a little Bit of padding because it just it makes the style more secure, but it makes your job so much easier. So look, that's it done and i think it looks fabulous. Let'S lift her up a little bit and you know i even like these little bits that are just tumbling down here now you can see the difference in the curls. This curl is a little bit tighter and this one's a little bit softer. So it just gives you a different idea and i think probably for this style i would re-curl this this one, so it's just a little bit tighter just so that it gives it a little bit more longevity throughout the day. So i hope you've enjoyed this super quick tutorial. So not only has it kind of helped you, you know if you're doing a trial run, so you can try different ideas quickly and easily, but it's also really super quick, pretty style, maybe for a bridesmaid or for a bride. So, thank you for joining me and it's very quick and effortless thanks, louisa and gorgeous so remember to in order to get the hair to do this. You need to get the hair prep right, so get some mousse in there get a nice strong, curl, probably using a stronghold hairspray or a setting lotion to get the curl really strong, and then the hair isn't floppy and it kind of when you put it in Position it stays there, so it feels a little bit crispy, but it looks soft and gorgeous. So thank you for joining me and um yeah. I look forward to seeing you next week. If you have any styles, you particularly want to learn just get in touch or, and don't forget to subscribe, and of course you can join me on my e-learning course.
