Top Rated Japanese Hair Curlers - Do They Work?!

TOP RATED Japanese Hair Curlers - Do They Work?!

Today's video is a good one. This one surprised me. I decided to buy some highly-rated Japanese spiral hair curlers to see if they would work on my shorter hair. To my surprise, these hair curlers did exactly the opposite of what I thought they would do. Have you tried these Japanese spiral curlers before and how did they work out for you?

Today we have a very exciting video.. That'S why my hair looks very crazy.. I'M testing out highly rated Japanese spiral. Curlers.. One thing I do wan na say is these were not as cheap and they only come with two.. I got them on YesStyle and they were $ 8.21, but I did order three more., So I got two four six eight.: Let's try it out. And they do say to well. They don't say I can't read Japanese, but I'm looking at the illustrations and basically you take the hair, you wrap it around the spiral curler and then they use a hair dryer to dry it in place.. So I'm assuming they're using this on damp hair. And my hair is damp right now, except for these little front pieces and then a little bit toward the top, but I can still feel it and it's still quite damp.. So I'm just going to brush my hair out., Going to dampen some of these little front pieces right. Here., (, bottle spritzing ), (, hairbrush, whooshes ), Because they come with two one of them is left and one of them is right.. So on the very bottom, where basically you're gon na start wrapping the hair around it either has an L or an R. All right. Let'S do this., I have my bonnet set up and I'm just gon na basically start basically take my hair split it in the back in the middle and just start taking sections like this and they're gon na be big sections., Because I have only eight of them. ( chuckles ), so four per side of the head., I'm probably not going to get such great waves and curls like she does because her hair is super long in the illustration.. But we're gon na see if we can get some kind of volume and bounce to the hair.. Let'S try it out. And I don't want the ends to be curled, so I'm actually just going to leave them out.. Ah, this is a thick section., ( chuckles ) [ Andrey ]. You might be winding it the wrong way. (, inhales ), I'm winding it the wrong way. Folks. Yeah, I'm gon na, do right on the left left on the right. ( chuckles ). I want the curls going away from my face. Babe. I think I need your assistance in this.. This is gon na, be so much easier on longer. Hair. (, chuckles, ), Yeah. -'Cause. You don't have to go towards the root of your head. And with me to get any kind of wave. We have to go up as high as possible.. Then. Basically you take that and then you bring it toward the top. [ Andrey ]. It'S not gon na unwind is it I don't know. It wants to unwind.. It wants to unwind [ Andrey ]. Wait. Maybe we can do it. This way., Maybe it'll hold it., It's a little better. It doesn't --. Oh that's, better! Yeah., That's much better. All right! I need your help with the rest of these. [ Andrey ], Ohh ( Milana, chuckles ), It's tricky.. This is tricky.. This makes me feel so good that I'm not struggling with this. ( laughing ) [ Andrey ] Yeah. This is not as easy as it --. It'S not as easy as it looks. Like. Even on the picture. It looks so easy. The way they did it. [ Andrey ], Those other ones where you were just pulling them through --. Oh no babes. Was much easier.. Oh yeah, the Curlformers Curlformers yeah. Yeah. Those are a lot easier. Okay. How's that [ Andrey ], Pretty good. I think. (, both chuckling ). What do you think of the Velcro? It'S helpful. Yeah, All right. Let'S see if I can do this. Myself. [ Andrey ], ( laughing ) Okay., Well, you're gon na don't leave.. I just wan na. Do this front section myself., [, Andrey ] Yeah, I’ll be here for emotional support. Thank you. Yeah. You just unrolled it. (, Andrey laughs, ), All right guys. This is a lot harder than it looks. [ Andrey ]. Here, let me do this. I'll. Just have the expert do it. (, sighs, ) [, Andrey ]. There we go. All right. Let'S do this side babe.! This is so much more fun when Andrey does this. For me., I don't have to sweat as much. ( laughing ) Rolling it.. So what's the trick Roll it horizontally up. Yeah. Then put the band in front. In the front of the curler okay. [ Andrey ]'Cause. Otherwise it's just gon na fall down.. I wonder how long it's gon na take to dry it ?'Cause. They are such thick sections right, [ Andrey ], I'm getting better.. You are look at you. [ Andrey ], I'm an expert by number eight., Perfection. [, Andrey ]. I got my process: down. ( Milana, chuckles, ), Whoo., That's how you know it: works. Okay. [, Andrey ] That only took 10 minutes. ( Milana, chuckles ), Not bad., [ Milana, ] For eight curlers Yeah., Not bad. (, chuckles ). I'M going to use my little hair bonnet with my Dyson hair dryer ,'cause. This one has the best heat setting options.. I think I might give it like a couple of minutes of the lowest heat setting and the highest airflow. And then just take off the heat setting and then just use the airflow of the room temperature airflow. If that makes sense. ( bonnet rustles ) Ow. All right, let's turn it on. Try the blower on Yup. (, hair, dryer, whooshing, ) Whoo. All right 20 minutes has gone by., Let's see if it even dried. A little bit of the hair. Ow ow ow. Ow got ta, be careful taking that off. ( chuckles ) It kinda feels dry, but not really., Like the top of it feels dry, but then a little bit underneath it feels a little damp. [ Andrey ] Yeah. There'S still some moisture there.: Oh there's a lot of moisture, still., (, sighs )! What'S a girl got to do, But these ones right here they feel pretty good. But yeah, I'm gon na put another like 15 minutes. All right. I need your help. Again. ( chuckles ), (, hair, dryer, whooshing ), All righty. I actually kept it on for 20 minutes instead of 15. ( chuckles ). It feels a lot dryer, which is good. All right. So let's babe you wan na, actually help me take these off ?'Cause. I don't wanna like rip my hair out., Or should we just take the front one out? Okay, let's take the front one out.. Let'S try this whoop., Let it unwind yeah, see ( lips, smacking ) Created that crease. [ Andrey ]. That'S what we wan na see. ( Milana, laughs, ), That's tight. Hold on. Hold on. I did not expect this whatsoever.. That is tight, But in all seriousness, though whoa. ( laughs ), Oh my goodness. ( inhales, ) Ahhhhhh. I didn't think it was gon na. Be this tight., I mean it's good, it's good, but the bottoms. They don't look. Good., (, laughs, ) Whoa! I mean it's just it's just a spiral: wave., Not even a wave. This is a curl. Wow., [ Andrey ]. You wanted them to be bigger. No, I thought I thought that it was gon na be more loose.. I didn't think it was actually gon na be like a curl.. Are you kidding me? This is awesome., But I mean like it isn't: -- [ Andrey ]. You allowed to do something. I mean yeah, I'm gon na probably wear a hat. ( chuckles ), But the hair on good note. It feels very dry and it's not damp anymore.. I mean look at that. That'S bouncy.! That'S good., Whoa! Okay, so let me kind of wrap my mind around this. (, chuckles ). You know what I'm gon na just kind of break up these curls first., (, laughs, ), [, Andrey ], Looks good (, gasps ) Wow that is hold up hold up.. Now that I'm breaking up the waves and the curls in the back, I'm feeling a little bit of dampness underneath like inside the waves. Like right here, especially you, can kinda see that it didn't really take a curl., But I'm kind of surprised at how well. This did for such thick sections of hair.. Do I like how this looks We'll see. We'll see we'll see.? I don't like how it looks at the very top. You can really see the creasing from where the rubber band was sitting.. The hair tie. That'S just it looks really bad.. Is this the whole thing (, sighs )? I was expecting waves and I got crazy. Tight ringlet, curls. [ Andrey ], You got ta admit like ,'70s.. Am I the'70s mom again Yes. (, laughs ). I think you're obsessed with her. Let'S just be honest., Let's just be completely honest., I mean it did a phenomenal job. It surprised me., Just it has flaws of ... [ Andrey ]. You just have to work on this.. I just have to perfect yeah. Now that I know it creates a lot of curl. I can now go in and perfect the ends.. I can perfect the top so maybe kind of maneuver the rubber band. So it's not really sitting at the very top., Maybe kind of try to put it underneath. You know what I mean since the best way to hold this little curler. It was at the top., So I'm kind of thinking, maybe for the future. How would I do that, So the line wouldn't be toward the top, but -- [ Andrey ]. That might be a big flaw.. That might be a big flaw exactly so. Y'all. This is pretty pretty phenomenal. And the curls feel really nice, but I did prep the hair using leave in conditioner by Ouai and then the hair oil by Ouai as well. And the hair. Just it's not frizzy., That's the whole thing. The hair is not frizzy. And it looks it looks good.. I can see that this product works actually pretty good on shorter hair.. It might not work on super short hair unless you really want just some hair up -- (, laughs ). I was honestly expecting a big flop and a fail, but this really surprised me. I mean., Even though some of the hair in the back - it's not as a tight of a spiral curl just because it was the most wet. And it didn't have as much time to dry. So I would probably dry a lot of the hair in the back to match the front., But I'm so happy that the rest of the hair, where it is dry, it's very consistent in the type of a curl that I got.. Okay. This was a really cool, find., That's fascinating and I did like I said. I bought four of the packs because per package there's only two a left and a right., And I did switch the right on my left and I put the left on my right side to go the curls going away from the face instead of towards the face., Because if you have left and left, the curls are going to be going towards your face. And I did like I told you guys, I blasted it at the lowest heat setting., But it's just so hot in the air bonnet.. It'S just not possible even on the lowest heat setting., I blasted it for probably 20 30 seconds max and then turned it off because it gets really hot. And then I just used the highest airflow with no heat on the Dyson.. That'S why I prefer the Dyson for this type., Because you can really control the airflow and the heat setting, but you still can get a lot of airflow, but with no heat. Just the room temperature heat.. I hope that makes sense.. Let me know what you guys. Think of these.. What are these even called The Spiral Winding Hair Curlers. From the brand Noble. [ Andrey ], How to they compare to -- The curl firmers Curlformers. These are definitely not as painful. And plus the whole pulling of the hair into the Curlformers. That'S kinda, where I had I like literally I ripped hair out or I could even break the hair. So with that, I feel like this is a lot safer., Even though I didn't really do it on myself. I had Andrey help me because he's such a good husband.. Thank you, sweetheart. (, laughs ), It's not bad, but it's definitely easier when somebody else does it for you., Because you don't have to struggle with the mirror effect you know. But overall result. I think it's pretty great. That completes this. Look you guys. Again, please. Let me know if you have tried something like this. Or even this particular brand and these spiral curlers.. Thank you for watching spending time with me and these really highly rated Japanese spiral. Curlers, and I see you in the next one very soon., Bye, ( lips, smacking ). I want to do a quick little update.. I didn't think I was gon na. Do an update on this video for the hairstyle., But I really wan na show you guys how the curls are falling. Out.. It is dark. You can see the window right, there. (, laughs, ) Wow! This is so right. There. That's the window, I'm catching up on! `` Bachelor'' right now., But the curls are falling out. So nicely. I mean that's so nice.. My left side is a little tighter. As you can see compared to my right side.. I don't really see the crinkles anymore as much. I'm trying to see., Maybe a little bit on this side, but I'm quite impressed with how the hair is looking.. Even though the hair was damp in the back. I still have quite a bit of curls happening. And they didn't really fall out all the way, so A plus for holding power and the way the curls are falling now and settling. And it's just what can I say, Sometimes products. They really surprise you in a really good way., And this is one of those products, even though yeah it's a little bit more expensive, but I see myself using these curlers when I'm maybe just doing my makeup, I kinda wan na take a little chill out. I don't really wan na put as much heat on my hair and just use the blow dryer with the bonnet., I'm quite impressed, honestly., Actually quite impressed., All right, you guys I'm gon na end the video here. Again. Thank you for watching spending time with me and the hair curlers and I'll see you next one very soon., ( laughs, ), Bye., ( lips, smack )

Laurie Johnson: Take a note from those 80's perms, you put a coffee stir stick under all the elastic loops/ties and it lifts them enough not to get the creases. Put as many on one stir stick as you can to get the best lift.

jo jo: I'm in the uk and I bought these from ali Express for 79p for a pack I bought 4 packs and have thick hair which is now bra strap length. I've found using bigger sections and doing it on dry hair which has been slightly dampened is best and then it does come out more waves than curls. I only use 4 rollers in total. It's easy putting them in when you do it by feel rather than looking at yourself lol xxxx

Jann Kanizar: As a young girl my grandmother would curl my hair just like that but she did it with rags to get the “Shirley Pemple” look. Of course, I’m now the great grandmother so that tells you how old this way to get curls in the hair is. Love your vids......keep up the great job.

Tamara Morton: Really pretty curls! I, too, was surprised with how much curl they gave you. I bought some of the foam round curlers from Dollar Tree today and am going to put them in my hair right now. It's 1030 at night and we'll see how long I keep them in.

stupor mundi: I love it when you review these tools! These worked surprisingly well though hard to put on by oneself.

Its_Jolaine: I’m literally sitting here with one hand in the nail polish remover steamer machine that you recommended! I absolutely love this thing and can never thank you enough. I bought several his Christmas gift and they all loved them as well. I think the curls are beautiful!

Sabina Hertzum: A tip for the creasing is to twist the elastic before hooking it over the top...

Kelly Poole: I love your channel. I went back & started watching your videos from 2-3 yrs ago & I did notice that you used to do a lot of tutorials for beginners but not so much now. Even though I’m 42yrs I’ve been out of the makeup game for about a decade (mommy-hood + chronic illness) & I’m just now getting back into makeup. I’d love some more tutorials for beginners. CONGRATULATIONS  on the baby!!! You’ll never feel a love like you’ll feel for that baby!!! Praying for good health !! PS Hi Andre & Karina!!!

CFC thegreatesttherecanbe: It seems no matter what you try on your hair, it always looks awesome.

Esellajessica: Put the roller in Upside down compared to how you did it the first timeIf you do a horizontal top and bottom layer, you'll dry more evenly and get a curl all the way through. I really like them!

Joyce Judd: to keep from creating the line with the rubber band holder...use a plastic pick - like for brush rollers - at the top of the roller under the band. The finished look is cute!

Cat Toy Lady: Wow, I actually really like how the curls turned out. Glad you tried these!

Rachel Dee: MILABU! HELP! I have thin hair and I'm a mom of a 1 year old. I'm looking to streamline my routine and be gentler with heat styling by switching to hot rollers for an everyday polished blowout look. Could you PLEASE do a comparison of some different hot roller brands (including the Caruso steam ones that KKW used in her recent photoshoot)? I've searched for reviews of different brands but haven't found many good videos by actual hair channels.

LaLa From Alabama: Ehhh, I’ll stick to my air wrap curler which I bought this past weekend thanks to your review. I think those type of curlers are a little dated, hard to use and way to time consuming and don’t like how flat it looks after the fall out

Gail Simon: I love the way you're doing your hair color now! Did you're static nails come off, or did you paint them? This looks hard but i think your hair came out beautifully!!

Cheryl Wiens: Love the curls after theyve been touseled, but I absolutely cant get past how user friendly they are NOT. Thanks for posting

Alisa Shafar: I have just received similar curlers (also goes two in a pack, color pink, with the string). But I ordered them on AliExpress and 3 packs cost me only $5.33

Dale T: You can lay a folded tissue or makeup pad down as a shield from the cord of the roller to avoid banding. Also you can do the same set but on dry hair and the hair will still take the curl. You just want the hair to get it hot and let it cool off.

Magan Evans: I like how it came out. The crinkles weren’t too bad.

katkat521: Your husband is so patient and such a good sport for helping you out! He's going to make a great dad.

Run It By Me: Love how that turned out! Can't wait to try them❤️

Secret crush on glam: Read the title and thought to myself: "It has 'Japanese' in the title. It's gonna work!" They (and Koreans) know how to beauty

Ann Stanbridge: Love the video as always and Andrey is so sweet to help you without complaining or moaning. Can't wait for the next one

Sarah G: I would love to use these on my long hair

Ange B: Wow they worked really well, loved the end result ❤️

Alina Valentino Fonseca: U should use the kristiness hair mist it literally softens tight heat styled curls. This definitely needs to be in a stylist travel kit or salon

Mandi Palermo: This actually came out pretty cool! Your haircolor is gorgeous too! Thanks for sharing!

smilegigles1: That looks really nice on you! I love the curls that the curlers created and I'll have to invest in some!

Teresa Salins: Girl!!! I now have more curlers than a beauty shop! What’s crazy is I never take the the time to fix my hair!! I still have EVERY size of Velcro roller made!! I don’t use the Velcro ones cuz I they pull so much hair out!! I found 12 pack of these rollers, including the elastic holders for $13.99. The first pack of 2 rollers was $10.99. One must look carefully at quantity & cost. I’ll try this when I get enough tollers☺️☺️

sharon oneill: The curls look fantastic, maybe if your going out for the evening you could just wear them around the house through the day x

lecker1019: Im so happy to watch that you tried Japanese product and liked it. You look amazing !! From Japanese girl

lindsay: After you switched the part to the side I thought it looked gorgeous! Love the nice big curls!!

👾 dog: I use the soft ones that bend totally to your will and are wrapped in a silk like material! I never get creases with those. I do 4 sections to get the dolly gyaru style hair! The soft ones are the secret. :)

trukanit94: You two are a great team!!

Cindy Mindy Loves: Love that your husband helped. Even if he complained he still did it.

Elvira Zeb: I like the curls! :) what if you placed the plastic upside down on the root with the velcro and wrap the hair downwards? Then the rubber would go on your ends, right? Just an idea

Lisa Marie: I Love it. Really cute and no heat damage!!

PetitMew: I can't help but love her sweater. Looks so cute on her!

Valerie Conway: Your husband is a legend. I wish I'd longer hair . I'm growing it but it's taking so long . I'm impressed with them too so cool .

Alana Marie: I love the volume it gives! I'm impressed on how it came out!!

Dani P: I do spiral curls all the time using regular foam and satin bendable. Just roll your hair sideways, sleep in them, and you have spirals in the morning.

Tanelia Matthews: Honestly I love the end result!!! I love curls!

Avril Bissell: I love those curls. I have loose curls, which when I use a products in it, it looks like an explosion in a mattress factory ha ha XX. These would be good for defining my curls. Thanks for your video, I will definitely look out for these. X

Margie Jopson: It is so awesome that hubby knows how to do your hair. Love ❤️ it

Marla Baldwin: I like how your hair came out. Surprisingly good curls. Really pretty.

Andrea SC: Interesting product! I’m just wondering how it’d come out if instead of the cap thingy you used the diffuser? On a low airflow setting there are not flyaways and maybe there’ll be no moisture?

Debbie Bush: It looks so pretty with the side part.

Shawna Brock: I think it turned out so cute! Plus it will be really nice after sleeping on it. Maybe place a double layer of tissue paper between the hair and the elastic? ‍♀️

Chio García: Amazing!! I think the crease was created because you used left on right and right on left.

Candace McCormick: I’m curious how the curls would turn out if you put the curlers in upside down. So the Velcro part was on the top. I’m wondering if that might help the crease issue.

Judy Berends: Great curls . These curler's really work. Thanks for sharing .

Rara U: Thanks for introducing a Japanese product❤️❤️ Love you from Japan

Lois Thompson: I love the way your hair turned out, I'm impressed!

D. Dee 2003: If you had long hair not sure how it would all go into that small curler. I too thought it would come out frizzy - looks cute!

Tessa Martin: Just because it’s not your typical style doesn’t mean it doesn’t look good on you. I think the hairstyle came out great. You shouldn’t be so harsh.

dlxe: I personally would do it before sleeping because the next morning I think it would look perfect. It’s a bit too tight immediately after but after some time it’s so pretty

いわおゆかり: I own them. On my Japanese pin straight thick hair it create waves lol.

Harphoney: I really like the looks of your hair with these once you flipped your hair over to the side, very nice!

LORETTA TENNANT: You look absolutely gorgeous. Those curls are everything on you. Love your videos.

cristinakeiko: “Am I the 70s mom again? ” LOLLL. That made me laugh out loud.

MC: i think on longer hair, if you just do the ends, this would look great, and honestly i really liked how ur hair came out

Sue Jane UK: One thing, it actually looks like you have naturally curly hair. Looks good!

Julz Guess: Sorry but I loved your hair after you flipped it to the side. And I really love your hair when it is straight and slightly turned under. Beach waves to me are so over done by everyone and by the end of the day I fell like most woman's hair just looks like you haven't done anything to it but let it air dry.

Mousy Leigh: I love all the new unique hair videos! I’m new to YouTube. Your channel is great.

MrsLoretta: Andrey is such a good sport to curl your hair...My husband would be all thumbs...I don't think he could do it....I think it looks cute on you...You really don't notice the line...Hugs and Love Loretta

Manuela Terrero: Your husband is so lovely helping you out with those curler

Nancy Morin: I love your hair! The curls are beautiful

Art Gremlin: Nice to see that they worked out well. I struggle with the crinkles a lot. I have a request for a video tho. I have an undercut, I know you don't, but was hoping that maybe you'd be able to do a few hairstyles that work, fit or look nice with one. Because I love your videos and I am not finding any good ones for undercuts.

Sharon La Tour: Alison Arngrim( Nellie Olson from Little House on the Prairie curls!!) WOW! those did curl!! your hair looks very pretty Milabu!

J Nelsimpson: WOW how cool! Your hair looked amazing after you raked it to the side. I bet if your hair was just barely damp it may be more relaxed and less time? Maybe even just damp from the products.?

simon keller: Normal cheap rollers do the same thing lol as someone who does hair I’m not shocked for the turn out of these but I think I will still stick to the normal rollers

SOOPERlouie: Well, you did use the L on the right side and the R on the left side, if you used them on the "correct" sides, that might help with eliminating the top crease.

Jenni: I would love that on my longer hair, but they should sell them eight to a bag.

Nadine l Garza: The curls Really look Glam and Beautiful on you. Especially when you have it parted on the side. Looks Really Good.

Yvonne K: Try the curlers with dry hair, you might get the wave you like better although it might not last as long

Dia 3307: Andre is so right! When your hair first came out of the curlers and before you really separated the curls, you looked just freakin like the mom from That 70’s Show. Spitting image!

Vanessa Milligan: I love how you two relate to one another. Cuties. Lord bless y'alls marriage

Nicola Ewing: I like how they aren’t all loose! Very tight curls!

Jennifer Wilson: Your hair looks amazing!!!

Lizzy Jones: What do you do when your curls come out frizzy or staticky? What products do you use?

festivelady826: Your hair looks great!! You look so pretty; pregnancy obviously agrees with you!

Sips with Steph: Wow!!! I think it looks amazing and beautiful!! ♥️

peachy75019: If I were going to use those, I would twist the section and then place the curler at my scalp and wind the hair around the curler from top to bottom.

David Landry: The JetSet rollers; get at Sally's Beauty supply store. had a perm-kit like the pink roolers. In the 90's. This seems smular.

Rusty Stevenson: You can brush it out. In the old days everybody rolled their hair but you brushed it out and styled it. Try that. I liked how it looked after you pulled them out.

Cindy Snow: I'm pretty sure a lot of Japanese people have hard to curl hair so ...they need to find special methods. Also I love that Andrey helps with your hair and make up! Maybe I should train my guy to give me a blow out? Ps you look very cute with that dryer on it looks like a Russian hat.

Kim Alexander: I love how your hair came out I'm impressed really .

wendytube007: I think if you start it from dry and just put heat on it and then cool to lock them in you wouldn’t get the ping of that overly tight curl I think they would be more loose like a beachy wave. And yes yes to the stir sticks to hold the band off the rod an old 80s perm trick.

MellyMae44: I also wonder how they would turn out with setting lotion.

MarieLine Beaupre: Impressionnant !!! Je croyais pas que ça fonctionnerait.

Lisa Kessler: Omg it looks beautiful... I love it

Cat Ludy: Kitty from that 70s show is goals, so wear that hair proudly! It looks so cute on you! You pull it off well!

Ju Mariano: Ficou lindoooooo

Huschler: Can you test out the wave curlers?

gatorrollu 2: 1st of all....You have an awesome husband! 2nd for the price and harassment of doing this, I think I'll skip it. But at least you gave us an idea of what it is. 3rd you have this amazing face that everything looks good on you. Just wouldn't be efficient for my schedule. Love your videos, thank you for your time. God Bless

Raghad Alashoor: These are amazing Except for the crease but you can fix it it's not a problem but it's great

Paulina Torres: Quedaron muy bonitas ondas

Koko Smith: Once you finger combed it I fell in love with how it looks

Kalisha J: This looks like a more complicated version of a flexi-rod. I'll pass but thanks for always trying weird tools, lol.
