Hey ladies, it's cindy from sitting pretty before i forget, or before i take too long. I wanted to come by and give you all an update on my hair. So again i haven't been on youtube in about two months and i definitely really haven't been on here. Talking about my hair in quite a long time, so i'm still on my journey to growing this hair out and as you can see from the last time i've been on here, it has definitely grown. I'Ve actually experienced a setback since the last time i've been on youtube as well as gotten a haircut, so i would assume had my hair not going through a setback, excuse my raggedy nails. I honestly think i would have been about right here, because i cut up quite a few of inches okay. It was like an inch when i got it cut like two or three weeks ago and when it broke off, it definitely created a lot of little strands and a lot of little frizzy hairs. But my hair is definitely hanging in there and i'm very grateful for that. So let me give you an update and update what i just said. This is where i'm at and i'm definitely happy with the current state of my hair. I'M definitely happy uh. This is my three years. My three years was about september 17th, so this is about three years post, a big chop. It was not a big chop from relaxed naturals, just a big chop, just a big top, because i was out of my mind at that time. Um, so this is about where my hair hair is uh three years post last haircut, so i'm definitely thinking next year, it'll be about four years. I'M definitely thinking that next year there will be a lot of progress, um and i'm pretty i'm pretty happy, but i'm pretty excited you know and uh. If you all would like to know what i've done to my hair to really get it to where it is or to maintain it as well as the same thing, i excuse me through all my clients. I would love to share i'll, be happy to share that with you, so anyway, let me get on track before i start talking about this stuff. About a month ago, i publicly announced that i was getting my hair permanently straightened, and originally i knew i was like. I want to relax her, but then i came across the japanese thermal reconditioning and i had heard about it before, but i didn't really know about it. I ended up looking it up on youtube or somehow stumbling across it. As i was looking up videos about relaxers and y'all, i was like there's a lady in uh there's there's about two or three people in california that do them very well on textured hair. However, i was like well california's in socal. It'S not that far. I would make that trip or they have another lady in northern california. I was like i can make that trip, but even though the maintenance period on that is fairly low compared to a relaxer, it just really didn't make sense for me to do it, and i didn't want to put myself in a position to where my hair's health Would literally be at risk if something were to happen and i couldn't get it back out there. You know what i'm saying so i was like. Let me just go with a relaxer, so i literally have one client that is relaxed. I did not do her relaxer. She goes to a local, dominican salon and um for me, as i always said, i've only had one hairstylist in my life. Cruz reyes at dominican touch beautiful highway in atlanta, georgia um. So for me, i'm very i'm a lot more comfortable with the dominican blowout being done on my hair in dominican salons, the products, because that's just what i've grown to know um. So i was very open to going to this lady. However, for me i was just a little bit. You know i just i was looking for someone that could kind of not console me but make me comfortable about this decision, because it's something i haven't done in so long and i didn't really get that there. So i ended up finding a lady named hair by youtube, who did a relaxer, and i love the way she did it because she didn't leave the hair uh pinned straight, and i liked her philosophy on relaxers how it should be a relaxer and not something to Break that hair all the way down to where it's pin straight. I like the way she applied it and when i called her, she was open to answering my questions and she was patient and for that reason i decided to go with her and as of right now, like i said, my relax is fresh. I don't regret my decision. Uh she made me feel very comfortable and um y'all. I can honestly say my relaxer or my hairstylist in georgia. Cruise was probably one of the best hairstyles. I ever met very professional um. She will tell you the truth, but she's not going to force you to do anything. You don't want to do just very gentle in the hair and healthy hair care. Is her number one priority? So if you live in atlanta you're, looking for a stylist, i've always recommend cruz um. Where was i going with this? Okay? I can't remember where i was going with this but um. I definitely i forgot where i was going with that, but i said that to say uh. She definitely made it a comfortable experience for me and um. I do not regret it at all. My edges are laid. This is no edge control. This is just a little bit of nairobi on my edges. It took her like eight minutes to blow dry. My hair took her like 10 minutes to flat iron, it and y'all. I am just completely happy with my decision. Uh again, the reason i can feel this way - and it was a big deal as in oh i'm so excited, but it wasn't a big deal is in like oh, is this a yes or no decision, because, to be honest with you, i have been considering doing This since last year, because the way my hair was looking and the way it was going, i knew that if i wanted to grow my hair longer, it was not going to work natural. I knew that was just not going to be a possibility for me because my hair is so shrunken. I don't wear my hair in this natural state. I will not wear my hair, massage will say, that's not an option for me um. Nor am i wearing protective styles 24 7., and i prefer to wear my hair and sew presses. But the thing is my hair is so shrunken and to be, detangling is as gentle as i am. It just was too much to in order for me to retain my hair in its natural state or it natural. I have to be extremely gentle with my hair, which makes it take so much time so much more time than i'm willing to give right now. You know time is too precious to be spending four and five hours on my hair, i'm just not doing it anymore and um. I just knew i've personally never had any bad experiences with relaxers. Again, i've only gone to one hair, stylist growing up, who was very professional, so i never had any issues with relax and i knew that if i wanted to grow my hair any longer. At some point, i needed to consider an alternative where my hair would have started breaking at a certain point and i'm just loving it y'all, like i said i don't know. If i already mentioned this, this was the first relax i've gotten. Oh, that's what i had to say so my stylist in atlanta cruise was an amazing stylist um. I do remember some burning of the relaxers, but again i was really young going to her. I started going to her when i was in like second grade till about 10th grade was the last time i went to her, so i've been going to her for a long time. So i don't know if it's just children, you know how kids are very sensitive or if the relaxed are actually hurt, because i can't give you my experience as an adult, but this is the first time that i can say i got a relaxer and literally y'all. It only burned right here which i wasn't shocked about, because this spot had been scrat itching me all week and i scratched my whole head all week. Y'All my hair was dirty um and it only started to burn like right when she took me to the bowl. So she knew exactly the perfect timing. I also like that she talked a lot about feeling because i work with hair based on feeling too. I think it's important that when you find a stylist, you find somebody that's not only going to go about a book. You know to a degree, but somebody that really understands the hair and can feel the hair and can really be one with the hair as crazy. As that sounds um again. I wanted to also mention, because i forgot this is what i meant to say earlier. Not only was my hair just really shrunken, but i'm just i have the type of scalp that needs to be washed at least once a week. Otherwise, my hair starts shedding like a dog, and i stopped washing my hair weekly because it was too much to do and, as a result, my hair was just shed shed scalp just itchy itchy itchy. It was just too much so this is a good way for me to be able to wash my hair when it's needed. It needs to be washed and also um. You know that's all i had to say so. All in all, i just wanted to. I guess to give y'all update on my hair, as well as my relaxed experience. I i put up a few videos on instagram, as i was getting it done, but it really was not no huge deal y'all. She was so professional with it. It was so simple and i was so happy to make the decision that there's really nothing else to it. Um. However, i i just i'm just so happy, and i one thing that i will say is make sure that you do what works for you and make sure that don't allow anybody's opinion to dictate what you do with your hair um. Yes, there are health risks involved with using chemicals, but at the end of the day we live in a toxic world. We live in a toxic country, the air is polluted, the water is polluted. Everything almost in this environment is a carcinogen, so it's like knowing that our environment is so toxic. That shows you how limited time is so hey. You need to do what's going to work best for you if you feel like getting a relaxer or still present whatever wearing weaves is going to maximize your time spent on things that add value to your life spending time with family working on your business traveling. Whatever, then you do that you, your hair, does not have to be again, it don't have to be political. We don't have to be philosophical. Your hair is your hair, it's a it's a part of you, it's a form of your own self-expression and you have the choice to do with it. What you please, so don't ever feel um pressured or don't allow the pressure that other people try to put on you to dictate what you do. I genuinely feel like that and um. I definitely do not regret ever going natural because it was what i wanted to do in that moment um. I can say that i know what my hair looks like in its natural state um. When i originally went natural in 2013. I definitely enjoyed doing my natural hairstyles and things like that, and it was appropriate for that time and it was a beautiful experience. It was fun, it was intriguing, youtube was in those days, very youtube was different, youtube was different and i don't it wasn't all commercial. It was, it was fun, you know, and i don't regret anything y'all, but i'm definitely excited for this new journey and um. Yes, i just that's all. I have to say i i feel so. I'M just happy - and i think i'm i'm happy because i made this decision not hastily like i did when i cut my hair, i was so mad after i cut my hair because it wasn't. It was a very impulsive decision, but this was not an impulsive decision. For me, this is something i've been thinking about for a year plus. So if you're thinking about doing it, ask yourself why really where the pros and the cons make sure you do research on how to properly do it relax that way you can see when you're looking up stylists, whether or not they're doing it right, don't be afraid To question the styles: don't be afraid to interview a stylist, because ultimately it's your hair and if somebody's going to get in their feelings about you asking them questions they're, just not the stylist for you and i would say, go for it but understand that i have Valid reasons for going relaxed, please don't think a relaxer is going to be your end, all be all if your hair is not healthy uh, you need to understand how to do your hair. You know you still need to put for some effort or you're going to wind up with the same issues and if you're nervous about it being a chemical um, but you color your hair and you do all these other things, y'all really don't. I personally really don't see relaxers as anything different, because color can relax your texture too. You know it's all a chemical and it is what it is. But one thing i can say about is that she does not like she says she does not rub the relaxer into your scalp. So what i love about the way she did. It is the relaxer i had very few seconds or it was it. Was it can't it came in contact with my scalp uh, very uh for a very limited time? So i appreciate that about her. So that's all, i have to say y'all, i'm gon na be back on the tube uh back on instagram, being consistent, y'all and i'm i'm so happy for y'all to watch my stuff and uh actively support and uh. Please let me know if you had any questions or comments. Have you been considering going back to a relaxer? If so, why did you just uh come back from a relaxer, or did you just go back to relax it recently? You know just let me know alright. So everybody thank you so much for watching and i'm out
