After washing, I just lift my hair in town for about 25 minutes just to let it soak up all the extra moisture. I really don't want it to be wet on my roof, because the next day it's gon na take so much longer for the full star that dry out. So I'm just gon na like walk around the house and let it air dry. So it's been about an hour and my roots are still gon na wet, but that's okay, I'm ready to start. My first part is going to be to separate the top of my hair. So now I'm just gon na spread through some of my organic root. Stimulator olive oil cream making sure that it is evenly dispersed. We want to make sure, there's not like any tangles or anything so I'm using a wide tooth comb and just smoothing them out now. I'M gon na take some of my diva curl ultra, defining gel and smooth that through as well. This is going to be the main ingredient for that definition. I'M just gon na go through with the brush just to be sure that everything's smooth Sookie okay. So, to start the twist, my first step is going to be to make a braid like I'm, starting it off as a braid. That way, it makes it tight at the root and flat, and it also kind of locks it in, because you know how twists can kind of loosen up and become puffy. So now, I'm about to start the twist. How we go is the one on the right goes to the left, and that is all that's to it. Look one: that's all the way to the right go all the way to the left, and then you kind of recycle. Okay, really, nobody will be able to see it so whatever, but I will tell you it's kind of confusing your first time trying this, because with three strands your brain automatically wants to start braiding. So sometimes, if you like kind of two now and you're, just like in the zone with doing it and you're not really aware of what you're doing you'll look down, you'll have a brace. So you kind of have to focus more with this one. To make sure that you're going with the right pattern and everything, but I'm telling you once you hi, you just have to keep practicing until you guess what I do, because we need to be all and I'm just gon na twist the twist in the opposite way. That way it starts to straighten out. This is definitely gon na prevent frizzing. So do this be gentle you wanted, like you, want to pull it apart, instead of ripping it apart. So you want to take each little individual strand and pay close attention to the way that it's it's woven in there. That way, you can take it out in the best way that you can it's time to separate those, and it's kind of like the same concept like we use to take the twist down just separate it, how it naturally will separate cuz if you force it it'll Get frizzy and you'll see like there are some frizzy pieces, but I take them and wrap them around my finger with the oil on it still and it makes it so it doesn't frizz up. You'Ll see me do that multiple times, and that is why, as you're separating you're gon na want to like kind of fluff at the root that way, you don't see parts where we made the twists. You want it to all look natural, as you can see right here. I have some frizzy pieces them. Then I'm just trying on my finger to make them not be frizzy to watch. You can also use to make those parts blend in with each other, because some of them are might be a little bit more stubborn than others. You can also use this to fluff out your hair to make it a little bigger fluff at the root to blend out any sections or parts

Lea A: Thank you so much ! For this video!! I could understand every step!

LifeWithKylie: I did this last night on my hair for school in the morning and when I took them down, they were BEAUTIFUL thank you so much for this tutorial Alyssa! I loved it!

All Purpose Mom: Great video!! I can't wait to try this on my daughter's hair! Super long, but super shrinkage with what I think is a 3c pattern! I saw a stylist on Insta post this style and you broke it down perfectly!!

Melanie Clark: I really felt hopeless trying to deal with my natural hair. I always got so frustrated and gave up midway because everything seemed so complicated and I have so much damn hair to deal with. But this gives me hope. I actually was able to get a hold of this technique. Thanks, girl. From me and my mane. Lol

Chanell Gabrito: This was the best tutorial on how to do a heatless type of curl and it's great for just restyling naturally curly hair. I do this when I don't feel like washing and giving my hair a quick boost of life for a few more days. The three stand twist is definitely tricky, but great results!

Lauren Hardcastle: Your so gorge! Such flawless skin x

Lisa J: I freaking love this! Tried it a while back and it worked great! I just got a process done recently that tightened my curls but haven't tried this process yet since. I am thinking it will probably turn out like your texture now. Otherwise my curls are wavy beach curls due to the length. My stylist showed me this a year ago and I always love sharing it and referencing it! Thanks!

Chaydé: Thanks for this video, it helped me get it on the first try I can't wait to see how it comes out

Holistic Beauty: the perfect twist out, whether it's a 2-strand or 3-strand twist out, takes time and effort to achieve AMAZING results. So glad to see a well-done twist out. I get my inspiration from videos like this and can finally say I've mastered the perfect twist out for my own 4-c, low porosity, thick hair. I make my own DIY products as well to achieve the perfect balance between nourishment and optimum hold for my hair. I've documented my own version of the perfect twist-out on my YouTube channel and am glad to see others achieve beautiful results as well!

Saanvi: GORGEOUS! Wish I had curly hair so I could do this!!

Karrisa Shea: Thank you , thank you , thank you !!! Ugh saved my whole curly hair routine . :)

Karina Quintero: You could definitely tell the difference by how it looked then vs now ! You go girl

Cassiane Marthyns: amei ♡ Fiz No meu é ficou show !!!

Shelly Gem: I’m Latina and this method worked very well on my hair it is a little time consuming but with the nice results, it’s totally worth it

Sherita Dunbar: I finally found someone with my hair type that I can follow. This initially looked like a lot of work. But I think I can manage 10-15 twists for such a pretty style!

Angie B: I LIKED this video before it was over. Loved the music, your pretty nails and the results of course. I've been doing 3 strand twists for a long time, so long that when I want to do a braid I end up twisting..funny how the brain works!!

Amaya Smith: Hands down. This is one of the best twists techniques on YouTube. My hair texture is a bit more coarse but this works. Only technique that has ever given me a defined twist out.

Coach Cree: 18 million views!! Sheesh I would love to see this updated. Simplistic & easy way to explain a 3 strand twist

shocked not shook: I'm tired of people asking if this will work on straight hair, so let me say this; yes it can work on straight hair but PLEASE don't expect to have the same results. You will have waves, not tight curls, unless you pack on a ton of product.

Maya Hope: Thank you so much, I love this hair style and I always do it

Cameron Westwood: I just watched this with my 11 year old daughter. She said you have the most beautiful hair. She also said if she had your hair she would feel like the luckiest girl in the world.

Rebecca Chester: OMG Amazing! My God Daughter has mixed race hair, both me and her mom are both white... totally gonna try this for her (she's 5, and a totally awesome diva too!!!!) This will be awesome on "bath night" (Sunday) for school on a monday :) THANK YOU!!!! xxxxxxx

renaye: Very thorough and excellent tutorial, I've been trying to do a twist out and this video helps tremendously!! Thank you!

zuzu #19: Masz bardzo piękne włosy:)

Ms_LeahR: Love this style. So defined. Nice coils

peepslostsheep: For ladies with fine, straight hair, this can be accomplished with good results, with some minor changes. 1) Don't use oil, use a curling gel instead. 2) You may need to do more twists. 3) When you start, it works best if your hair is LIGHTLY dampened, just a little spritz from a water bottle. 4) I tie off the ends with a small elastic, and then bun the twists up to keep them from untwisting.

WinstonChaychel: Thank you! I'm going to try this to help define my frizzy curls. (I'm white, but need something better than a bonnet at night for my 3 hair lol). My hair naturally tried to twist itself so I get barrels, so I'm just listening to my hair.

Erin 440: Damn....I LOVE your hair! I wish I would look good with this style. My hair is to long for little curls, but I do blow dry my hair till it's almost dry then do one big twist before I go to bed so I don't have to curl it in the morning. My hair is barely wavy, and this works for all hair types. Huge time saver and less damage, compared to putting heat from a curling iron everyday. I'm definitely going to sub.

venus.: Since people keep asking the question. This will NOT work on straight hair, only kinky & curly hair. *Not wavy, Curly.* It's possible but the results are not the same. and if you're hair isn't naturally curly, or kinky' you're going to have a hot mess on your head and your curls are going to fall. Its the truth unless you put a lot of trashy products like hairspray and gel in it, then it should hold up. I think.

Elle Mostly: Very cute and I love the technique! Thx!!!

Aisha Malik: I do this everytime it really works for me cuz i got naturally curly hair just to define them more it's really useful

Genesis Marie: I wanna try this so bad! Her hair is so cool and curly! Also thanks for showing is how ive been searchin for videos like this one!

Amari: You're the first youtuber I've found that has hair almost exactly like mine, I can never find someone who has hair like mine so I can model my routine after theirs so mine doesn't look like a mess haha, thank you so much for your videos!

ℂ𝕚𝕟𝕔𝕚 ℝ𝕒𝕨𝕜: I have really long medium style hair. I do this all the time and I love it. Your hair is simply gorgeous! I know we have different texture of hair but honestly I have dog hair lol, it's very hard and coarse.Mine don't hold it like yours but I love your hair and I think this is fabulous!

Katherine: Wow! My hair is actually nothing like yours but I just sat 12:17 watching this whoooole video! I am sooo trying this on my girlfriend :P she has beautiful curly hair but it gets frizzy WAY too easily haha aaand I am soo trying this on myself too! While my hair is straight/latin girl hair, it easily adapts to hairstyles and curls! And those curls came out really beautiful! Thank you for sharing this! :) Your hair looks beautiful :)

Kylie Fowler: My hair is really thick but crazy straight I'm gonna try this out to see how it works!

EsTeR JaHeL: gostei muito fico lindo demais ♥♡

Sara Townsley: Hi! I have wanted to try a hairstyle like this for a really long time. i haven't been able to find a really good looking curl that works for my hair because it is so thick--like immensely thick. my hair isn't naturally curly though, more wavy. would this method work well or would the strands just loosen or come undone?

R K: I have natural 2c hair (middle eastern) and use the straw method to bump it up to 3c, sometimes a little 4aish. Takes a lot less time than this! Same outcome.

Dudegrowing NapsBlog: Came out really beautifully

Says Beza: I've never seen this technique before, must try it!

CeCe Xo: Sometimes I wish I had naturally curly hair ‍♀️ just looks so effortlessly goooood ‍♀️❤️

Taiane Teles: Adorei ,show de bola !!

Crazy Siblings: for me this is a easiest way to curl your hair ...thank you for searching this ...I love you videos

Briana Flog: Im so fascinated by her hair. love it so much but i know i would never b able to pull that off. Black girls need to just embrace their curls- ya'll beautiful.

Mekka Meechovali: this was very informative. I love your hair and this video.

jasmine frans: love this,I really need to try this;-)

Natoria Shepard: This helped me out a lot im finna do this to my hair right this second.

Who says I even exist?: Waaah natural hair is so beautiful. I sometimes get lost on the natural hair side of youtube because you guys can do so many amazing things with it.

Hannah O: I'm glad people of all races are appreciating the beauty that is black hair. <3

Geozinha Flowers: ficou muito bom. vou fazer no meu

NASIRUB 1: When grew my hair out sometimes it gets thick and curly similar to hers. I love my soft thick curly hair, but when I have to go some where it's a pain to maintain and I can't get to my roots with product. I find it easier to just cut some or all of it off, so much relief in the morning to get up and just go without having to worry is my hair going to behave today.

Ashley: Why is everyone with straight hair asking if this will work for them? You can't watch a video of someone doing their curly hair, then get upset when your hair doesn't look the same

Dior Smith: luv it trying go natural thanks to these video's

Danielle Combs: Everyone, stop asking "will this work on my hair" or "will it work on (race) people hair"! Everyone's hair is different! This probably doesn't even work on some black people. Just try it and if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. She isn't going to know if it works on YOUR hair because it's not hers. Some people's hair will hold the curls and some won't.

Suspiciouslynotacat: Forever wishing for my hair to look like this can't even do it with my lame a** straight hair it looks sooooo cute though !!!!

vanessa mercedes: Loved it ! Great video love

love_melissa07: Do the twists hold on thin hair ? Or do we have to Bobby pin them down ? Thank you :)

Bianca Alexandre: Assistindo em 2017 .. Cabelo beautiful

Brisa Marina: Hola guapa!! como se llaman los productos que utilizas en el vídeo? y aquí en España donde los puedo encontrar? es sólo para pelo afro o también para cualquier tipo de rizos? me encanta como te queda!!

Patricia Garcia: I have 3a, 3b, and 3c hair. Box braids, and corn rows for 2 days makes my hair curls curl the way they want to - small cork screw. My ancestry is Sephardi Jewish. I learn more from curly hair You Tube than any time when growing up in my home town. I think the 3 strand rope braid treatment will look nice for my hair.

Bruna Alves: Amei

annettemint: I see alot of the same comments/questions. The style is best done on wavy, curly, or coily hair. If you have straight hair, you could still try it but you will not get the same look. Best gels to use for twist outs (if you have textured hair) is an alcohol free product. Personally I get the best look using a mixture of shea butter and coconut oil.

keila b.: Not trying to sound racist or anything guys but for all the people asking if it works on straight hair, it says in the title 'for natural hair' and for the people saying 'white people have curly hair' there is a difference between just curly and coarse curly...

Nevaeh: That hairstyle so pretty I wish my hair was like that

Natan Ki: wow omg I LOVE your hair and the fact that it is natural

StepLo: Oooh you make me wanna go natural lol I love your hair!

Megan Smith: I have a new respect for women who have to work with this type of thick, curly hair. It is gorgeous hair, but oh the work! Beautiful.

Jessica S: Do you think this'd look alright on longer hair? Mine comes down to my waist and won't hold a curl for anything, but I'd like to give it a try some time.

kizzie: I love your hair, and you're SO beautiful! <3

Aisha Sheikh- Alzour: I wish I had hair like yours. It's beautiful ☺☺

Star Cherry: She was right it turned out perfect

Christina Ward: This is so satisfying to watch. lol I have not yet mastered this technique but this video is so helpful!

Fani Esta: Wow she's gorgeous. I'm glad I randomly ran into this video. Seriously stunning!

Yedidya Kefale: yes I love it I am going to do this the next time I wash my hair

Melissa Kennedy: Beautiful!

Hannah R: i wish i had her hair, texture and everything. I have completely straight natural hair. I would die for her texture and volume! so beautiful!

MarshaTalks: Great tutorial! Thank you! I must say that I am pretty surprised by the RACIST comments written here. Why are you so eager to segregate? I believe this video is made for EVERYBODY with curly or straight hair, to learn how to style it using this technique. It is very ignorant to assume that white, asian or hispanic people don't have the type of hair almost as curly as the model in the video has, and it is also racist and hateful to exclude anyone from watching a hair tutorial just because of the colour of their skin -"white"- or the texture of their hair -"straight". People can watch what they want to.

naturally gifted: Easier way is just 2 strand regular and the take the extra piece or 3rd strand and wrap it around the already twisted piece. It don't have to be that complex. the outcome is the same.

Slighty Radical: so beautiful...trying this in 2019

Sharde Shaw: the editing boy lyss, you've come a long way! love you lots and been here since your beginning days❤️

Lolly: Wow can I say your hair is stunning! X

Helena Wenzel: can I use coconut-oil instead of olive-oil?

Faces By Isis: Love it !

Heather Winstead: I'm stupidly jealous of how thick your hair is. Also, someone recommended this to me so that I can actually have decent looking hair when I shower int he evening instead of dealing with the whole "wake up and my curls are ruined because I did nothing to protect/shape them" thing

naugler19: Looks beautiful

Kalahdenese: Gorgeous! <33

Julia Mathiasen: I'm going to a family party tomorrow, and I thought that I'll try this hair. I hope it's that easy as it looks

Toya Hill: Products used in your hair while doing videos make my eyes tune in you know how to braid some hair in "3's" when I go to the store and smell the ors and similar products the scents smell really good I don't have hair like yours it is great to see your haircare videos yay

Trin Murray: This is almost exactly what my daughter's hair looks like when all we do is wash it, put products in it and let it air dry. Her hair looks like the before picture too. I think you are working too hard!

Stardaisia 16: Skin was glowing in the beginning

tannyshakishe: Dumb question: Will this work on white girl hair? Just try it and see. How is she suppose to know and what is white girl hair? Ask has anyone with straight hair tried this with success? Girls of all races with straight hair could benefit from that answer. Also, brown women, although the questions are coming off weird, don't make this an us against them fight. All women should be able to have honest conversations about hair. We deal with a lot of the same issues or opposite issues that are equally annoying. Women who have no time for this style, there's the door sweeties. Go and find styles that you do have time for.

monet wilson: Omg im glad I found your video! & your hair is beautiful

Drea Reacts: Thank you so much for sharing this vid i was looking for a vid like this for months

Ronnie 945: your hair is so gorgeous! hair inspiration here :)

Caroline Chalue: I love it very beautiful

Rihannah Coles: How long does this last, like by the end of the day is it a lot bigger/ frizzier or does it stay like that? :D

Abigaëlle Dugal: Can you do it without olive oil and defining gel? Thanks.

Aaliyah Abdul-Quddus: I think I've finally found someone with a texture similar to mine. Definitely gonna try this.

Cole Thompson: Does this make your hair really greasy/oily since you have to put gel in it?
