Why You Should Try The Bowl Method On Your Wavy Hair

products: https://www.sophiemariegraf.com/hair-c...

This is how I create my bouncy, full waves. When first starting to wear your hair wavy, this can also help encourage your hair to form better wave clumps! This works best on medium to low porosity hair, but its worth a try even if you don't know your hair's porosity.

This is why the bowl method's worth adding into your wash routine, even though it adds extra time. I promise it's worth it after washing you're, gon na apply your product and then dunk your head into the bowl. That'S filled about halfway with water, depending on how much hair you have then you're gon na squish, your hair up making sure the excess water falls back into the bowl and dunk your head again and again, i do about four times. This is good to do for two reasons: number one: it helps distribute your product evenly throughout your hair and number two. It helps enhances your hair's natural texture and helps it form larger, wave or curl clumps. This results in super defined bouncy waves and i think it's totally worth the time.

trin ✿: It’s ironic to me how I’m getting this kinda content after I got fed up with my curly hair over a year ago and decided to shave all 15 inches of hair off of my head

Bhrithi: All the ppl that think she’s wasting it, Squish-to-Condish (STC) is an actual technique for curly haired ppl but especially 2B-3a curls and low porosity hair, it’s replacing the leave in with water, so that the “wavy” hair doesn’t get weighed down too much… Like adding more water is a huge part of CGM so it makes sense and it works…

hazel: i found my natural hair with this method i always would get these little curls all the time in random places but now my whole head is curly!

Diva: I dont think i can do this with my low blood pressure lmao

Hanna: This works really well on 2nd day hair. My hairs curl pattern gets messed up from sleeping so with dry hair I just dip the tips in to a bowl of water and get definition on the ends

DamionDraws: As a person with naturally wavy hair, I tend to just spritz some leave in conditioner and then after brushing, I do a couple hair flips. Doing 3 is the perfect amount for me because it encourages my hair to naturally form the curls. Any more than 3 and my hair gets too frizzy and the curl clumps get super thin and it doesn’t look that good lol

Lisa: I cannot thank you enough. I tried CGM a little over a year ago, and got shoddy results. I tried this once and got so many waves I don't know what to do with them. Thank you so much for sharing your hair journey. I'm excited to see how this goes from here. ♡

Kathleen Hernandez: Okay. She might be on to something! I’m BASICALLY doing this but without the bowl. The idea is to SOAK your hair 4 times and scrunch in between. It seriously helps ur natural pattern. Your “curl families” find each other. Now that I see this bowl thing. I might give it a try. It’s essentially what I’ve been doing already

Black Cats Tho: Looks so cute! My favorite method is to utilize the "plop" too. My hair dries soo quick and knots easy, so i soak it, add curly conditioner, comb then scrunch with a microfiber towel, then plop with the towel for as long as I can get away with. I'm so mad I was never taught how to do this. I always brushed it and my long ass hair weighed down the waves and poofed up. It looks 10x better now alternatively i just braid it but it takes so long to dry.

rorey: I did this yesterday when I washed my hair and my curls came out so cute <3

🤗Princess Leah Organa🤭: Your hair looks really pretty!! I started doing that yesterday and it really helped my curls!

Luccas: I have 3a/b curl patterns and this "bowl method" would make my hair take an extra 30 minutes to dry. I just apply enough leave-in with my hands while squishing and then squish with one of those smooth towels (cause a coarse towel with long "hairs" ruins your texture), to speed up the drying process

Frog Angel: This helped so much! My hair is curly naturally but it's always been straighter on the top so thanks c:

✨JELLY✨plankton: this method works really well to curl your hair naturally without out heat!!

1 Out Of 7.7 Billion: I wash with one 16oz bottle of water in my hair, I can go a whole week w/o having to wash my hair b/c I'm running off city water, and it's the definition of H.A.R.D water. And it's brought my mother's curls out in my straight hair

Hey, I'mValarie: Yeah, my friends and I couldn't ever do this because the product gets diluted.. But we also have much, much tighter ringlets and need that strong hold.

Chaotica: I feel like doing this with cold water in summer would feel really really nice.

Sketch Lover: Ah i am having these wavy curls naturally.... Trying to get my hair straight for a long time now i came to know that my hairs are the best

Fizzypopization: My hair is incredibly resistant to water so I do this, but I also leave it on for as long as I can and I also use more product in between each dunk. I also then get out and apply I'm not kidding beard oil to my hair before it dries. My hair has to soak up as much moisture as it can before it can get to it's final evolution.

Two Spirit Pocahontas: My biggest issue rn is maintaining my waves when I need to part, I love to dry part my hair allows me yo hide my thin spots and find my areas with more hair, I can’t seem to part my hair wet without it looking bald when it’s dry

lila : I tried this and omg it worked amazing!!! I used a leave in conditioner instead of mousse and then a gel to finish it. I struggled with stringy ramen noodle curls before and omg I have such good curl clumps now so I would definitely recommend for wavy or looser curled hair.

Sophie Peachii: Do you leave your hair to air dry afterwards? It looks so good!

ThatGirlJackie VLOGS!💚: Omg I'm so doing this. My hair is naturally wavy but I straighten it. I want to try something new though.

randomist123: RIP to the homies with thick hair that adds in extra weight when it's wet. I tried washing my hair like this once and the weight on my neck was awful. This took atleast an hour more than how my daily shower usually lasts, it felt like my neck was gonna snap at any moment and I would continuously have to remind myself to breathe properly due to the suffocation-

•clouddy•: Tried this method and I love it!

ToffeeCrunch: I use this method for my hair plus a mousse and my curls come out SUPER defined every single time. If there was a way to rid my hair of all the tats aswell..... I'm listening I have not found a way to do that part yet

Koinaiii: As somebody with natural curly hair, oh how I envy people who can get out of the shower and have wonderful and soft waves after drying while if I keep brushing my hair the second it dries it’s tangled again like I did nothing for the past hour of my life

Payton Withrow: I just put my hair up in a turbie twist for like a couple hours then let my hair air dry. I sleep with it in a top bun and my waves are bomb the next day.

Crafty Monkey: I don't do this with product (just water) but simply do it for fun, never knew people are doing this to help define waves...

Arts and Crafts for Kids!: You’ve already done a post about this but thank you this is really useful because mine is like straight without even straightening it.

Emily Kelly: I tried this and my hair was so moisturized it was silky and less wavy

Mary Fors: I told my stylist about this and she said it was completely unnecessary. As long as your product gets distributed into damp hair, you'll be fine.

Theresa Raymond: I'm definitely going to have a serious back pain by the time I'm done rinsing my hair with this method

flufflepuff: My (straight) hair is funny. I once tried the scrunch thing to see if I had any curls (I got my dad's hair, but my mom's is curly), and it curled while wet, but completely straightened when dry. In a way I do like having straight hair; but I sometimes wish for a more romantic, voluminous look heat-free.

Kiki Long: I would like to see how it looks when you flip your hair back upright. My hair always turns out looking crazy & I have to smooth it around my face & then I lose my curl!

Reiyoshi: My issue is what do you do to let it dry? Do you use a diffuser? A wrap? Or do you just flip it over and let it air-dry? This is always the part I struggle with.

*sharts aggressively*: I used to do this in the Philippines it really works and it saves time bc in tropical hot countries you have to shower like 2x a day

Kaylee863: I can’t do this because my hair will get EXTREMELY knotted, and when I comb it, all the curls come out immediately.

jazzmuppet: girl what product(s) do you use? also love this method, tho im still looking for the right products to use it with

Jewels Beckley: I have pretty wavy hair so I’m definitely gonna try this

Kenny🐝: I do that but free standing style I wash my hair with my head down like that. I'll put conditioner in the ends and scrunch it up, then rinse that part in the shower, and do it a few times over until my curls clump the way I want.

Consciousness: How do you flip you hair back?? I used to love washing my hair faced down, but as soon as I put it back (wet or dry) it gets all tangled :/

Eileen: Maybe I’ll try this after growing out of my permanently straightened hair lmao

Brigitte Mundt: What sort of products do you use for your hair texture? I'm pretty sure my hair is similar but I don't want to get the wrong products

Divisha Deka: I tried it yesterday , amazing

Simply_.Gamingwithfi: this seems rlly cool! but to get a successful outcome, do i air dry my hair or blow dry it?

im bored: I try my hardest to stop my hair from being curly. It's way too difficult to take care of. I have to brush it out which is so difficult and then when I do I have a lions mane. Then I have to use water to get rid of it and the tangles are back

Random-Person: Me getting this 2 days after I cut 25 inches off my hair. Damn should’ve used this a while ago

Thekla V: I did this with adding salt to the water made my hair so curly

Boglárka N: Hi! Looks amazing but wondering, how do you dry it afterwards?? And do you comb it through?

Olya Jaworsky: Two q’s: which product do u recommend? Conditioner? And how do u dry your hair afterwards? Do you use a tshirt or anything else like that.

Reilly Cooper: I think I have partially wavy or curly hair, so what do I do to figure out if I do or not?

Katrina Hodges: I just did this and it works so good I have short hair that is very thin

Disappointmenttomyfather: As someone with wavy hair, I shampoo and I condition, that's it

Cris: Quick question! Would this be recommended for natural wavy hair? Your hair looks soo cute!

Kylie: Seems like a lot of work even if you “already have naturally curly hair.

Emma Barjuan Garcia: I tried this and it actually works, the only problem is that the hair is too wet after doing it so idk. But it works super good so i recommend it

Nadine: Well, I have to apply the conditioner, wash it out and comb my hair, otherwise it would tangle completely. So I guess it's not for natural curly hair like mine.

•BbyBlxssom•: I have naturally puffy, frizzy, banana curls, and I absolutely hate it! It’s a nightmare to have bangs and short hair so I eventually gave up and straightened my hair every day, I wish I could contain the curls but It’s so over whelming!

Sploomp Doomper: Used to do this as a child always wondered why my hair looked so nice I mean I did it out of like laziness too

Avery: I have a bunch of random full curls and last time I tried this it didn’t work because I had it filled up all the way not half so i’ll have to try. Should I blow dry towel/shirt dry or let it dry because last time I brushed it when it was wet after a shirt dry and it didn’t work. What should I do?

Lydia Halverson: whenever i do this and then let it dry or diffuse or even plop it, it becomes uneven and bumpy but if I brush it it gets super frizzy. how do I stop the bumps?

Lizzy Beth: I should really try this coz product just weighs my hair and makes it look a mess so maybe all the extra water might help my curls and waves come back (also in the all my hair falling out postpartum stage so my hair is just a general mess right now!)

jungkook.97: i tried this method and it actually works guys i think you should give it a try once

Gatekeeping-Trash: Do your curls stay in place the day after? Cause I always go to sleep and wake up with it look bad the next day.

Line Degl: So I need some help understanding completely as I'm an absolute hairnoob even though I've spent the better part of the last two years trying to cre for my waves; do you rinse it out after? Is it for conditions or if not, what product is "product" refering to in this video? Also, do I keep applying products after, or does this replace them too? I'm in dire need of hair assistance. My friss is getting to the point i have a main and Einstein look going on lol, and I'm not smart enough to figure this out

Jessi: I don’t need to do this to get waves. It just happens when I air dry. I gently brush product to distribute, then spray a little bit of mineral water and that’s it.

Missus Chase: Question: Does it make waves even if you have straight hair

Aviella: My hair is curly when when and some pieces are wavy, they never stay when it dries

•Sxlver•Willow•: This looks cool, but my hair already has beach waves. This looks great though.

CookieBear: It's interesting, because people with curly hair say it's struggle to keep it maintained, which it is when you don't put enough time in it, but people with straight hair want the curly hair.

WhereIsSeanna?: I have tried stuff like this so many times yet my hair is so straight

julia loves gfriend: my hair is like ? 3a-3b I think ? would this be good for me ? i might try it out, but if anybody with the same type as mine already tried this, pls let me know if you liked the result !

¡ Luca !: thank you for telling me how to break my back

MoonBeamFiona: I live for this girl doing all this shit and getting the same result I do falling asleep with wet hair on a Brittany broski binge x

Ellen Tummons: I have curly/wavy hair, thick but fine and very frizz prone. Honestly this didn’t work for me ‍♀️. Some parts look fine but overall it’s frizzy and not very defined. I assume it’s something to do with my hair type rather than the technique itself. I’ll stick to my Denman brush and spray bottle routine.

Riley Scott: Sometimes people with straight hair do this and say it’s their “natural hair” but it’s a curl product that’s supposed to make curls look more defined. For example I have natural straight hair, and I use this in the shower if I don’t want to spend a lot of time curling my hair with a curling iron.

Jax 🎗: I do this but in the sink since I have very short hair but it’s still long enough to curl :)

Hellfireclub: “Why are you bringing a bowl to the shower lovely?” Me: *YouTube told me to*

Natalie: Your waves look so good!! What product do you use?

Millie: My hair is wavy! What product is best to use?

Louis fridge. 🍉🥝: BAHAHA- Girl I know damn well YouTube didn’t just recommend this with my 1.6 foot long hair. That stuff don’t work on kinky hair like it does on strait or wavy

Bob: My hair does the same thing when I stand up and shower regularly

•Scarrlet Røse•: I tried this and my hair looked the exact same-

Leng'lyn: This is helpful for my hair thx :)

Linda Oday: When you do it 4 times do you keep putting product each time or do you mean you just repeat the water ?

Comfy Snow: Question. Do you brush your hair at all after the bowl?

Anna Santiago: My hair’s straight. Will it curl even without a diffuser? Recos please thanks ♥️

damayia: it worked for “manes by mell” she has tighter curls like mine but it didn’t work for me so it depends

Pip & Friends!: What product do we use? Conditioner or shampoo?

Iris Strathearn: Does it do the same thing for natural straight hair?

Megan Morgan: Don't do this while the shower is on. I learned that today. I had to plug my nose real fast lol.

hailey: 4 the ppl saying this waste product as someone with 3c curly hair this is the best way for light curly and wavy hair types. they shouldn’t use thick gels and products as it will weigh down their hair. and i promise you they would use way more product if they used their hands and raked it through, it wouldn’t be even at all

Stella Planche: I was wondering how you dry your hair after?

River Wing: 1. What product did you use? 2. Did you let your hair airdry or did you use a hairdryer, if so how? 3. Does it matter what temperature water you use? What temperature water do you use?

Calla’s Panakes Tree: I just tried this today and my hair ended up frizzy and half the curls ended up straightening. I’m not sure if I’m doing it wrong or…? Help?

Jessica Gutierrez: I cant do this bc all the hair just ends up being pulled forward, and I get NO definition in the back at all. I have to move my hair from side to side so it doesnt look half brushed when I come back up

A Jones: Does anyone have any advice for wavy hair but gets oily one day after washing…

Izzy Jackson: How would this have any effect that just scrunching your hair in the shower without the bowl wouldn't?
