Diy Easy Summer Up-Do Hairstyle + Heatless Curls For Fine Hair Tutorial

Today I'm sharing my DIY easy summer chignon updo hairstyle! This hairstyle is great for everyday but is beautiful enough to wear on dates or as a summer wedding guest. This style looks best on hair that is curly or has some texture to it, so today I'm also sharing my secrets to heatless curls with is sort of a hair style in and of itself, so it's kind of a two for one tutorial. The headband method of curling hair works best on medium length, fine hair, but it's worth giving it a shot if your hair is stubborn to curl, you can even wrap it after curling it with an iron to let it cool and set in this pattern.

Note- this video was filmed a few weeks ago before I changed my mermaid hair ^_^.

"Get Back Up" by Silent Partner

Hey guys & Dolls welcome back. Today'S look is going to be a very fun and super easy summer. Updo, I'm a really big fan of putting my hair up in the summer, and I wore this easy summer. Chignon updo this in a previous video and a lot of you guys, like. Oh my god, please please, please do tutorial on that hair, so I decided I'd share it with you. So starting out some pretty sick bedhead. I'M going to show you guys how I did my dry shampoo, but I already did it sorry. I know I've disappointed too, so you just shake it into your head. You want to spray it on and then kind of, let it set and then a few minutes later kind of shake it in the next thing I'm doing is taking. This is actually a face mist from Pixi fabulous. However, I discovered it works really well as a detangler, because it's basically water and oil, and so I sprayed that throughout my hair, particularly on my ends and also having my hair slightly damp, is going to help the curls set. When I go to wrap it in a moment, so just kind of comb through that whole thing and then what I like to do is sort of squinch up or fluff up the roots. Otherwise it gets really flat. And so now I'm showing your my heatless curl method. You can see it's got a really thin back section, I'm showing you like the light, even moves through it. So you put that on your head on the plate. You know a hippie headband from 70's and what I'm doing is grabbing small sections of the hair and wrapping it away from my face underneath the headband and it's a super common, I'm sure you guys have seen this method of heatless curls before I will suggest method. Does work best on fine hair that is medium length. Hair that is stubborn to curl might need a curling iron, make sure I get all those little little. You know sections around the ears, as I was saying, this works best on like medium length, hair. That'S relatively find very, very sick or stubborn hair or very long hair. This might be difficult to do. You can also try wrapping it in two different sections sort of like one on top of the other, and perhaps I'll show you guys that at some point, that's why I get really really super curly hair. But this is a really great method for giving your hair a nice amount of textures, but an updo looks right because it's an updo, I feel like a lot of times when you just do it in the street. You look the dull. It totally depends on that. Let me just say that, like I guess it really doesn't matter that much for certain updos, but for a lot of the attitudes that I like to do, which are sort of um delightfully messy or you know bohemian ly untidy. You know they little bit of texture of the hair really helps the CMC. I just wrap and wrap and wrap and wrap around. That'S why I haven't that really thin bit at the back is great because it makes it so that it types it. You know, curls. The hair really tightens in in the back, but I'm taking a bit of the lay right grooming spray, which is an excellent product, and I just spritz that around the outer perimeter of the hair. This will be just wet enough to help the hair set. And then one other thing that I like to do is to take a little rat tail comb and soften up the edges of the front, because otherwise it can be a little too tight either gives me a headache and or it just will lay funny. So I just have comb a little bit of that out and then I'm in my bed, because I don't know if you guys noticed, but I just started filming this about making my bed sounds like. Oh maybe I should do that so now. We'Re digging a hair, dryer and just heating up the hair slightly. This is, I still call these heatless curls, because it's not the same as taking a curling iron or a flat iron or hot curlers, or something to your hair, because it's indirect heat. But yes, you are technically still using heat. The main focus of this is just to drive the liquids that you sprayed on your hair and also just a little tiny bit of heat, and then the cool down will help your hair, your hair, maintain that shape. So that's that and then you let your hair cool once your hair is cool and you feel like it's fully set. I just start taking it out, you really just unwind them. I do try to be mindful of how I unwind them. I'M usually a little bit more careful than this, but I knew that the curls were going to be tighter than I wanted the hair to ultimately be so I knew it was something wrong one to be super delicate with it. I just really wanted to have a bit of a wave that when I go to roll it back, it has a nice look to it love. This has been method, it works every single by it's super curly like I am, and you guys saw my hair was totally straight, and this is only about an hour of it being rolled up. It'S a pretty awesome method, so I kind of finger comb through the hair. Next I take a little bit of lay right grooming pomade. I was mixing up the name of the two products if a lightweight pomade that adds a lot of shine and also will weigh down the curls a little bit, so they will straighten out. You can see 30 happening on that side. It also, as I said, makes them shiny and a little more manageable. It'S really great to sit on the ends of my hair to make sure they don't look frizzy or anything. So I just work that through and do all that stuff. I even will put it a little bit into the roots as a texture, and now I'm going to start working on rolling the front sections of the hair back. So this up too actually starts out sort of as like a half updo, you can kind of, depending on how much time you have you know you might end up, leaving your hair down. One thing: that's really important with this kind of thing is how you lay the hair back, so you guys see, I fiddled with it a little bit before I went ahead and pinned it and then I'm taking two bobby pins and crossing them that they will actually Anchor in and they won't move all night so or all day, whenever you're wearing less whatever. I'M not here, to judge doing the other side very similar method and then at the back. I kind of bring the two sections together: roll the bottom up and then kind of twist it around at a very loose shingle. And then I take these little plastic clips, which are completely the bomb there for doing French twists. But I like securing all kinds of hairstyles with them and I will just slip them in secure the hair. Look at that. How we do is that now we're not quite done. You still want to fuss with it a little bit you can see in the back. It needs some finessing, so I took my brush and just sort of combed that down to make it smooth. But then I also use the pic and sort of bump some of the hair up to give it a little bit of volume and so that it has that sort of luxuriously messy look to it. So it looks soft, really that's the goal here and any kind of like volume that you can give yourself in the right spot. You may find little tendrils of hair that pop out. Sometimes you like them, sometimes yeah, so what I do just grab them twist them up and put them in there with a bobby pin. I mean it's really really truly values they've done, and that is the look. It'S a very simple hairstyle, completely customizable to your hair length. Obviously, because much longer you can twist it up a little differently at hold and then what I like to do as a finishing touches, should sort of pull it apart. Deconstruct it a little bit. I like the way that it looks when it's a little bit messy. So thanks for watching guys and I'll see you in my next video remember to vintage or tacky just be your own kind of beautiful, see, bye,

Diana: I'm gonna try it! (even though my hair is a little shorter, I think it will work) Thanks for the demo, Cora. Your hair looks glorious today. You always bring sunshine.

Marissa Disney: omg Cora I love this! I work in retail and am very hot natured especially during the summer! I usually just throw my hair in a ponytail or clip but it gets old after a while. I love how fast and simple this is and that it can be dressed down for work or dressed up for a night out. Thanks so much for this video!❤

Kendra Mx_Vegan_Rainbow: Perfect for summer....or anytime! I always see the French twist pins at the drug store, Target, ULTA, etc in the hair section. I also have some vintage ones! Cora also has a tutorial on this from last year with no heat and you sleep in it or wear it during the day then you have curls for a night out.

Marissa Montaño: I love how complicated this looks than it actually is!!! That's the type of updo I can get down with!! Looks awesome Cora, as always!

Linda Jennings: Great tutorial!!! Love the look!!

Darlene's Discoveries: I've never seen that curling method before! Thanks so much for sharing! I'll give it a try

Naomi Esther: I've got curly hair and I'm totally going to try this, just in time for the hot weather thank you! ❤️

Beka O'Meara: I have very fine hair that's medium length and I've never even heard of doing curls that way, but it's BRILLIANT. I'm going to be doing that today if I can find my headband. lol. Super cute updo. :)

Liz Dwyer: This is my favorite updo look. Wore something similar on my wedding day but have trouble recreating for other special events. I find when I use Bobby pins it flattens it down too much. Those pins you used look like answers to my prayers ! What are they called and where did you get them ??? Thanks Cora !

Elida: What I find that helps with this curling method is twisting the hair as I tuck it in. Mine is about the same length as yours and just a TINY bit thicker. It only takes me about 2 hours to get my curls to stay all day.

Panya V: Just an FYI, in case anyone was wondering -- I have pin-straight hair that has NEVER held a curl from a curling iron *ever*, and this headband method has always worked for me, even when I didn't use any products *or* a blow dryer. [Sleeping on it helps.]

Musings Of A Fox: So gorgeous with your hair colors will definitely have to experiment with something like this with my otter pelt, just not the heatless curling

Mena Okeefe: Love this updo gonna try it for date night

Michele Licata: Thanks for the vid! My hair is very thick and curly/frizzy in the summer with all the humidity and I feel like I am always fighting with it. I could probably do this without curling it first. Any suggestions for the frizz? Humidity and curly hair always seems to frizz, frustrating! And where do you get those clippy things to hold it?

FridayKetchup: Such a lovely look. I'll have to see if i can find a head band so I can try it. <3

Kristin Nunez: oh my goodness! that was the most amazing thing I've ever seen for hair! ok, so i have 2 questions: 1) where can you get those hair clips (i have a ton of bobby pins so that's no problem) and 2) i have a lot of baby hairs that frame my face and tend to frizz out anytime i put my hair up, any suggestions for something to keep them in check without making them look extremely flat or oily? Great video!

Michelle Kitten: I've NEVER seen that headband method before!!! I have natural beach wavy hair, but it's that awful texture that's thick, but won't hold most nonheated curls. I'm definitely gonna try that headband method!!

Dalenna Perez: I have thick and pretty long hair and it definitely becomes a pain to do this. But it always ends up looking really good...kinda messy but I have 2 little kids so it's messy no matter what

Chelsea Merline: I love your pup sitting and watching. My dog always sits while I do my makeup and likes when I pretend to put blush on him lol

Heather H: I'm getting married in July, this is exactly what I was looking for!

TheSarasmilez: What helps me to curl my hair that way is to use like a pantyhose sock that's long enough to tie either in the front or back and when the hair is dry you just untie it and pull the sock on the opposite side and it just slides right out

Katie Moody: so cool! so glad I found your channel!

Scr3amerrr: DUDEEEEE I was *just* searching for updos for fine hair and then seconds later you uploaf this! amazing :)

Melanie G.: What a beautiful woman! Thank you! ❤

Paula Pérez: I have way too much hair to try curling it like that, and it's too thick and way too long. But I'm gonna try the updo, it looks so effortless and cool. Where can I find those plastic clips? They've blown my mind.

Carrie Young: Immediatly went to Target for a headband. Testing out this curl method out as we speak.

Lynn Kennedy: I love the ideal of easy curls This was hard to do We will see the results in the mirning

Lily T: ooo, that's cute! I think mine is too thick/curly/short to achieve quite that effect, but boy is looks pretty on you!

MTN: Love!! I also love your glasses! Where did you get those from?

Sonia Rice: Hi Cora! Can you please post a link for where you got those little plastic clips you use at the end? Thank you!!

Arlene Jay: Very cute Cora! Wish i had nice light weight hair like yours. Mine is super thick and exhausting

mitoku1412: I'll have to try this out. I have natural wavy hair

jloestrin: "Bohemianly untidy" is going on my headstone.

MissMargaret: I have long thick hair and you are right, this curl method is a nightmare for me!

Kat Kamm: I think it looks extra good because of your different hair colors.

Martha Rice: Where do I get those clips?!

Donna Tisch: I have really thick hair. It is so hard to do anything with it because it takes forever .

Akarna: very cute

Joeycat73: Look at Rocco trying to work out what you're doing!

Nesta 2015: I actually might try to do something with my hair for once. What was the hair clips thingies french twist things called?

Trace Miller: Pretty peeved. No notification of this video by YouTube, I saw it on Facebook.

Kimberly Holt: We have a military ball in AUGUST (who schedules these things???- not a fat girl, that's for sure!) and I'm going to do this for the night. Maybe I'll look presentable for an hour? Hahahahahaha! No.
