Do you dread wash day? You can be honest because i dread wash day okay, so this video is dedicated to how not to dread. Wash day a few days ago, i did a poll in my community feed asking how many of you dread wash day how many of you love wash day - and i was pretty surprised a lot of you - don't dread wash day whatsoever. You'Ve got your routines nailed down made me super proud. I think that's amazing, before i get started and share my tips on how i make my wash days pretty manageable, don't forget to subscribe, hit the little bell next to the subscribe button. That way, you won't miss anything on my youtube channel. You'Ll get all of the notifications all right. Why do we dread wash day so both my friends with relaxed hair and my naturalista friends from what i hear it's just kind of the sheer volume of hair that we have to deal with on wash day. It'S overwhelming. We fear that it's going to take all day because oftentimes it does and you want to be out doing stuff, not you know tied to the bathroom or tied to a bottle of conditioner or your flat iron. Or what have you so i'm going to share my tips on how i make my wash days easy and not overly time consuming. So i also change my mindset towards wash day instead of, i think, we're always fighting our hair and that wears on our souls and ours. Our mental health, like honestly like who wants to look at their hair and dread, taking care of it right. So i feel this all comes with loving your hair, loving the skin you're in and setting some solid routines in place to take care of yourself in a really easy way. So what i do is, i lay out all of my tools that i'll need to wash my hair from combs to scrunchies brushes. What have you to actual tools? I need for styling, my hair. After so you know my hair dryer and my flat iron. Everything is on my counter. Easy to access. Here are the tools that i've laid out for washing my hair. I'Ve got my wide tooth comb. I'Ve got my wet brush, which is just so essential for getting any tangles out and sometimes when i wash my hair and throw it in a bun, i use my big paddle brush to get a really nice slicked back. Look. I have got my little alligator clips for when i flat iron, my hair, i'm going to flat iron my hair today. I use that just to you know, pin hair out of my face. I use scrunchies as well to separate the unflat ironed hair from the flat ironed hair, and here are some styling products that i use as well after washing my hair. So i use my unite 7 seconds detangler. I am completely obsessed with this stuff because it is such a rock solid detangler, like you, spray it on and tangles are gone, but this has a lot of protein in it. A lot of you have expressed a little worry about using it. This is the other leave-in conditioner. I use it's shea moisture silicone free miracle, styler leave-in treatment. It'S not my favorite. I don't use shea moisture products anymore. I will use this in a pinch. I do think it's pretty good. It smells a little weird like men's cologne and it's not nearly as good as detangling as the unite stuff. So sorry guys this is early morning. I just got out of bed. I love this cozy robe. So much i mean there. We go. Oh focus all right. So you guys ask me all the time about scalp treatments, and this is the one that i've been using when my scalp is dry, flaky and itchy, which usually happens after a relaxer like i have tried my hardest to moisturize and keep my my scalp pretty good And it has come a long way, but every now and then yeah it does get a little flaky. So that's what i just love that so what it looks like right there and you've got the line and yeah just use a few drops of that. In my hair smells wonderful, smells beautiful and yeah. It'S been doing the trick for keeping my scalp pretty moisturized, and my girls out here born in the 70s and 80s looking younger than everybody, we'll all remember blue magic. This is a hair grease. You can use that on your scalp as well. It smells like true bergamot, oh my god. This smells like childhood. I will use a little bit of this on my hair as well, and yeah works really well, it's heavier though, and will make your scalp dirtier, requiring you to wash your hair more frequently all right. So i've got all my tools laid out on this side and on this side i have my dyson super sonic, hair dryer. I may or may not use this it's all depending on how fast my hair is air drying. I always air dry, my hair and i've got my ghd platinum styler, it's one of my favorite flat irons. I also have the dyson coral flatiron, which is amazing, but she's charging right now actually might be ready by the time i need to flat iron, my hair, but yeah everything's laid out making my life nice and easy all right, let's wash this hair. So one last thing i want to mention before i hop in the shower that might make your hair easier to wash, especially if you're, natural and you've got a lot of thick volume is sectioning your hair before you get into the shower. So you know going from this to this. This allows you to wash your hair faster because you're washing each section separately, it really cuts down on tangles, makes your hair easier to comb out and you can keep track of what you've washed and what you haven't washed. Okay, it really does help. One last tip always keep your favorite hair care products on hand. So my favorite hair care products that i use religiously i buy in multiples because i find, when you run out of your favorite hair care. That'S when you start using products that you don't love, that your hair doesn't love and your hair starts to suffer. You guys may have heard that it only takes one bad hair treatment or you doing one bad thing to your hair to wipe out years of good work. So i've been traumatized by that. So i always keep several bottles of my favorite shampoo on hand and that's the cara care hydrating detangling shampoo and i always have a whole bunch of these aussie three-minute miracle conditioners on hand, because it's such a great, deep conditioner and it doesn't contain any protein. It'S fantastic detangling hair and it smells good all right. Let'S wash this hair me uh, um, okay, so that completes the hair washing aspect of this video, as you saw i put in the conditioner, and i've got my hair wrapped in a plastic bag back there, and i covered it in this little microfiber head, wrap that I got now i am going to go downstairs and do a workout on my peloton. Oh, my skin is really dry. I'M going to uh put on some face cream. This lancome absolute face cream by the way is the bomb it's the absolute soft cream anyways. Yes, so my skin is a little dry and what i'm going to do is i'm going to go downstairs, do a ride on my peloton and that will act as sort of like a heat cap. This will all act as a heat cap to super deep condition. My hair, while i exercise and um my my peloton bike, ride will be about half an hour and then i will come back up and rinse out my hair guys. I want to show off my new workout gear, i'm just i'm feeling myself and i'm loving it, and i want to show you guys look at that. This is mpg sport and it's got this like snake print, some sort of lizard print on it. I'M gon na look so hot on my peloton anyways. I will link this for you guys, love it all right. I better get your biking. Okay, i'm done. Admittedly, that was a really hard ride. That was really tough. I got a peloton gosh a few weeks ago. That was my first time doing alex to say if you guys are on, if you have a peloton, if you have a treadmill bike, whatever follow me i'll, follow you guys back. I'M dom is the bomb 444.. So yeah that was my first time doing alex to say he is cute anyways. I am so tired. It is time to wash this conditioner out of my hair and then i'm going to air dry, my hair in flat iron, and i'm going to show you guys that process as well, so for rinsing the conditioner out of my hair. I do not section my hair. My hair stays pretty tangle free. I don't get too many tangles, so i feel sectioning isn't quite necessary for me. I also recently had a relaxer, so my hair is that much easier to manage. I, as you guys know i like to steam my hair. So while i exercised, i wrapped it up in this plastic bag and then covered it with my microfiber towel and my hair feels super soft right now it is loaded with conditioner, so i'm just going to rinse that out and then i'm going to show you how I air dry, my hair and then i'm going to flat iron, my hair, all right, so i've just rinsed out the conditioner from my hair from start to finish. If i hadn't done my peloton ride in between this whole process, this would have taken me about half an hour. So let's say 10 minutes for showering, washing my hair, adding the conditioner and then i sit with my heat cap for 20 minutes or so 15 to 20 minutes and then i'll take another few minutes to rinse all of the conditioner out. So that's about honestly, a 20 to 30 minute process. What makes it easy and what makes me dread my wash day even less is that everything i need is right at my fingertips. I make washing my hair as easy and pleasant as possible, so using really detangling products using really good combs that are really good at detangling detangling, my hair under running water. That makes things so much easier and just you know the general atmosphere i will put music on. I will light candles. I will do something that makes this whole process easy. So when i'm using the heat cap, i almost always do it in the living room. While reading a book or playing my nintendo switch, you name it. I just want to make it an easy, fast and pleasurable experience so honor your hair, don't fight it make space for yourself when you are washing your hair, so eliminate all stressors like people nagging. You make sure that you have the bathroom without your significant other wondering why you're in the shower for so long whole nine yards. Okay, just make it about you and your hair. So now i'm going to use my favorite detangler here. This is the unite seven seconds. Detangler to leave in - and i just adore it it's the best thing best hair product i've discovered in a while so again to make things easy on me. I will section my hair for adding in this leave-in conditioner and that's really just to make sure that i get all parts of my hair with the leave-in conditioner. No sections no strands are neglected. Ah, so i've just added the catasta scalp serum to my scalp, because it's been a little dry and flaky, which is sort of the norm. For me, after a relaxer and i'm going to air dry, my hair, now i'm going to go. Do some errands today is super bowl sunday, so i'm going to run out, get some wings get some. You know fun stuff and if the air drying is taking too long, that's when my dyson comes in super gentle, i will blow dry the rest of my hair. This doesn't make my hair feel crunchy, it's fun to use too, because it's dyson anything that makes the process enjoyable. Okay, see in a little bit for flat ironing. Okay, guys it has been about 45 minutes, and my hair is almost dry. It'S still a bit damp and i need to get the super bowl preparation started. I need to run out to the grocery store, so i'm going to use my dyson supersonic to dry the rest of my hair, okay, i'm going to put in a little heat protectant and let's get this hair dry. Okay, i've just finished blow drying my hair guys. If you don't have a dyson supersonic get one, it is an investment but wow it just it makes your hair like it, doesn't make your hair crunchy, dry and crunchy like other blow dryers. I'Ve used, i i just love it, and the stream of air that comes out of the dyson is more targeted too, so it doesn't whip your hair around and tangle it thus making wash day more fun, so another tip for wash day. What i normally do is. I wash my hair. I try to wash my hair on sundays because it's the calmest day of the week for me, i know a lot of you are busy moms busy in general, so the weekends you know grocery shopping and doing whatever all these errands take up a lot of your Time but i always reserve my wash day for the most calm day of the week now i know i said that i'm a little pressed for time today due to the super bowl, but today was the only time i had to wash my hair. I have a press trip in toronto, starting tomorrow for valentine's day and yeah. I just had to make deuce, so i am going to flat iron, my hair now, contrary to most people, i flat iron, my hair from top to bottom. It just goes faster for me. I'M not a hair stylist. So don't come at me in the comments i yeah. It just works for me. I'Ll show you how i do it feel free to do it the proper way from the bottom up, yeah, so uh, uh uh, all right! So we're all done with the flat ironing process. Now i'm gon na go in with a little paul mitchell super skinny serum. It is one of my favorite hair serums that i use when i flat iron, my hair. It makes my hair silky soft and i feel like it's a good moisturizer for my hair throughout the week, while i keep it flat ironed that doesn't cause it to revert or frizz out whole nine yards. So i just use like three quarters of a pump not too much so a little of this stuff goes a really long way. It'S pretty. You can see that it does have a greasy feel. I concentrate on mid length to the ends. This stuff makes your hair super shiny too. It'S it's just lovely. It'S like an og hair product. I'Ve been using it for at least 20 years so guys. I think the best motivation for not dreading your wash day is the outcome. So when you know what you're doing when you have all of your products laid out and you're comfortable with the hair washing process, so shampooing conditioning detangling leaving the conditioner on for a certain amount of times and then styling, it just makes it that much easier. For me, knowing that my hair will look beautiful for the rest of the week, be it flat ironed or up in a protective style just gives me the motivation to power through wash day. What are your tips for not dreading wash day? Do you have any things that you do to make the process a little simpler? Please share it with us inquiring minds want to know. So. Thank you so much for watching. If you did enjoy it, if you did learn something from it, please give me the thumbs up, don't forget to subscribe and follow me on instagram dominique.baker, i'm on tick, tock too, and tick tock to dominique baker, official and yeah. I just love you guys. Thank you! So much for tuning in bye,

Allison D: My wash days are like spa days. They take effort, but I usually love them. Face mask while deep conditioning, listening to my fave Youtubers while setting my hair, Netflix movie while drying. You are right, once you have figured out the routine that works for you, and pre-arranging products and tools, it becomes much easier.

Kellie Hickman: I feel like finding the right products and tools is, like, 85% of the battle. And being organized . I actually play your videos while I'm having my wash day! Ahh yes, Blue Magic, Luster's Pink Oil, Ultra Sheen... I've been revisiting some of the oldies but goodies

Dominique Jones: I’m a natural. I love wash day. I have a simple routine with products my hair loves. I only detangle once (with deep conditioner in my hair in the shower). I also use wash day as a day I deep clean my house, do laundry etc. My hair loves Aussie products and they’re not expensive at all. I do notice the longer my hair gets the longer it takes. I also do my grooming routine -mani pedi and face mask. If your goal is clean healthy hair then wash day should be fun! Love your videos!

gemruby41: You have some cool glasses, and your hair looks amazing. I think some people do so many steps on wash day that it takes an entire day to wash their hair. I don’t believe we need so many steps in order to have healthy hair. Also, leaving the conditioner on for hours when that’s not necessary makes a long wash day. Shampoo, condition, and style should be enough. I also encourage anyone to get the Dyson tools. I have the blow dryer and the straightener. Those have done wonders for my hair. By the way, I charge my straightener after every use so it can be ready for next time.

rizeuse: Dominique is the type of person we all need in our lives...Shes so sweet

Katbot: Started and continued washing my hair at home during COVID. Def going to pick up some of these products. Glad to read about others wash days. It's always a lot easier and less hassle post a fresh relaxer. How do you feel about the brush/hair dryer combos? Would love to see if you had a video on different types of drying styles x

mutindi jacobs: Hi Dominique, thank you for the great video. I recently relaxed my hair after 12 years of being natural and I’ve really been struggling with breakage. I dread my wash days because of all the hair that’s left on the comb and in the shower. Its actually really starting to depress me and I have considered just cutting it all off. In this video I learnt that I probably wasn’t giving enough attention to detangling my hair so I will make an effort to do that from now on. Please share some more tips on how to avoid breakage. Xx

Denysha Dials: I like videos like this because they remind me how simple my routine has become. Great video ❤️

goBpink: Omg look how long and healthy your hair is, Dom! All of your hard work is paying off.

Tanya: I just finished part two of my wash day now. Lol! I’m a natural but I love watching your videos!! And, yes I dread wash day because it takes too much of my time.

Adrianne Washington: Absolutely gorgeous Sis I Love my wash days!

R Meeks: Thanks for recommending Unite 7 second Detangler! My stylist was able to comb through my thick relaxed hair so easily!

Tammy Lee: Lately I’ve been loving clip-is to add fullness to my relaxed hair. Do you recommend clip-ins? If so how often a week should I wear them? I feel like they are more safe than wearing wigs which are always too thick and uncomfortable for me.

Hi I’m Niasha: Yesterday, I purchased the S-Curl Activator Moisturizing Spray after watching one of your “Tips to get healthy hair” videos. I’m so late trying this product lol but I’m loving it! Thank u for the recommendation!

emphasis trinidad: Wow I was actually now telling my sis I want a regime for flat ironing after a wash because I am usually a hair setting gal. Just wanted a new look and something a bit faster than rollers.( I do love my roller set not giving up on it). Its just I am gonna switch it up every now and then. So yeah thanks Dom. Gym wear looks grt too on you.

Jamila Bennett: Love you Dom, thank you for sharing all you tips. You're amazing!

Lolo Future: I love wash day. Friday nights when the kids are sleeping. I have my routine down - it’s fun.

D I V A Kingsley: Whether if you’re relaxed (like I am) or natural My tip on NOT Dreading wash day is to NOT make it a “wash day.” It should only take a few minutes to no more than an hour and a half for most hair types). I get laundry day, leg workout day, etc…, but If my hair is dirtier than usual…sweated more from weather changing, used more hair products than usual from a certain style, etc…then I just wash my hair…I never wait for “Wash Day”, because it’s not a certain day for me. I think the term “Wash Day” makes it seem to serious…and can make some people stressed out. I ALWAYS say that if you DREAD ANYTHING in life then you shouldn’t do it. If you Dread washing your hair then maybe it’s time to shave it off and wear it very very short (No More Dread).

JBear403: I loved this video! I do the products and tools on the counter and ready to go as well. It helps me mentally. Lol

Caramel Vegan B: You are so awesome and I always feel like I can relate to you. And since using your hair tips my hair was at my neck and now it’s at bra length. You are a beautiful soul. Blessings

Beautiful A vida: I normally wash my hair on Sunday night n sleep with deep conditioning and next day I rinse off and dry my hair , I don’t complicate too much even though is tough wash day I hate it. By the way your hair looks amazing flourishing n the volume well done

Crystal Light: I just went from natural to relaxed so I watch all your videos & a few other YouTuber to help me care for my hair. I also plan to get professional trims every 3 months

loveyourneighbor: Because of your recommendations I have been using the Unite detangler. I have 2 bottles as well! Great product!

HrhSophia TheFirst: Yeah I tried to wash at the start of the panasonic and did not comb through after braiding and the hair matted and locked and took hours for me and my husband to detangle with copious amounts of conditioner. That was the first and last time in over a decade I attempted to wash. The loss of hair was traumatic. I happily pay someone else to deal with it but your directions are great so if I ever need to I think I can.

Qolette Agee: Gorgeous as always. How often do you flat iron your hair in between your relaxers at 8 weeks?

Random D8: I use to dread wash day because I’m busy and although I love the end result I hate the time spent. Now that my products are in order as I know what works for my hair I feel better about wash day. I use olaplex and my black is beautiful products. I find that wash day is easier now because I have it together these days with great tools and products. I am loving progress with my hair so that’s also encouraging me to take the time to do all of these steps in my routine.

Eva Katy: I don’t like Shea Moisture products but this leave-in is SO THE BOMB my hair game changed since I used this

Irene Ghadi: If you've been natural before relaxed hair washdays are bliss.

Adaku Akabogu: My problem with wash day if I expose myself too much to water, I have weird allergies all through the night especially if I wash my hair the evening. Thanks for making this video

Adrianne McDonald: Thank you so much for this! What heat protectant are you using?

0tismadaline: Your hair is looking absolutely gorgeous

Andrea curtis: I love washing my hair trying products that work.

Isabella Estrada: Sooo Beautiful!! Do you straighten every wash day? What heat protectant do you use?

briana exom: I really hope you’re getting paid by these brands Becuase I buy most of the products you feature in your videos when you say so!!! My bank account cries but my hair thrives!

N S: Any advice for when a stylist refuses to relax your hair? I'm natural and have been wanting to go back to relaxed for a while now, but have gone to 3 different stylist and they all said I "don't need one." I feel that a relaxer fits into my time/lifestyle better as I prefer to wear my hair straight and I am able to take care of it better at home. Even after explaining this, they say no. I'm at a loss!

Aryce: no one else has talked about this. thank you, Dom!

Celeste: You have help me so much with my not shedding!

coolgirls1603: How often do you flat iron and use a blowdryer. I am new to relaxer and I've heard that you have to wash your hair every week however, I want it to look nice after a wash day.

Nuni Nuninu: For the products I know I use, I have one in use and one in my linen closet. When the one I'm using runs out, I start using the next one and I purchase a new one when I go shopping. I shop with a list so I don't forget.

KP: Thank you!

Leibella Savage: You’re absolutely stunning and so is your hair ur videos are a god send

Beatrice2 2: I am horrible at doing my own hair. Can barely operate a flat iron or curling iron so I'd dread it when I have to do it myself now that I don't go to the salon weekly. It just reminds me that I am too old to be this incompetent You all make it look so easy. I was, however addicted to hair products and tools I can't use. Proud to say I no longer have excess

India Jones: Hi Dom! Your hair is beautiful. What kind of heat protection do you use?

J G: Thanks for sharing your routine! I love the fact that you can shower with that necklace on, do mind sharing the brand??? I am looking for gold waterproof jewelry. Thanks in advance!

Carlen Ledain: Looks good. When and how often do you use the blue magic?

T Mcdowell: I love your hair videos, your so funny. Thanks

shernet brown: I'm on wash day as we speak, I think I more hate drying cause I air dry and it takes so long, the heat from the dryer is brutal

Cee: You are glowing! Thanks for sharing :)

Sunny: I don’t call mines wash day I call it self care day. Sunday is the day I wash my hair and it’s all about me not the husband not the boys’ but me.

Anna N.: I never thought to ride my peloton with a deep conditioner in, game changer! I use a plastic shower cap to deep conditioner, is a plastic bag different?

0tismadaline: Sweetheart you said it all,cos being in a good mood when handling your hair is a plus,l listen to my favourite songs whiles doing my hair and that has helped my wash days and healthy of my hair

Mirjam Milde: I got a question really need help …I cut a good length of my hair because the ends was soo light and brittle wasn’t like it was damaged or I was losing hair … but what could I use too get thicker less brittle hair ?

p w: If it wasn’t for the title I would have thought this was another kind of video. Why are you half dressed for a video about achieving healthy hair? Your tips are great. Your hair looks fabulous. Don’t need a click and bait pic that’s for sure.

Sakeenia Noid: Blue Magic (the blue one)! ‘79 …got it on my counter now.

day tom: Hey beauty love the vid! Thought you fainted because you ran out of product when you bent down to get it . Love you! ♥️⚘

Peaceful Joy: Which relaxer do you use?

krista Baker: I do badly the older I have gotten I do! Before I used to do so much better when I was young lol

Trumpesss: OMG, Alex is the best!! Thanks for sharing :)

loveyourneighbor: Can you do a video reviewing the Dyson Supersonic? I've heard you talk about it before and you've got me wanting to buy one now.

Ms Ms: Yes I know blue magic used to use it and also dax. Those are the days when my mum used to do my hair, happy days.
