Hey everyone welcome back to the channel today, we're gon na be getting stuck straight into it. This is a progressive layering technique. So what we're looking at we're looking at three ponytails for this video, i'm gon na, be bringing you a salon floor, ready version of this very very soon. But we've got three ponytails, as you can see there, and then we've got a little bit at the front, which is going to be a fringe. A really simple way of putting the fringe in so sectioning pattern is from there to just on top of the ear there to where the hair starts, to curve away into the nape. And then that is the full back section at the nape. And then the front is just a little triangle at the front and that's going to be a really easy, simple way of putting in bangs graduated fringe or whatever you want to call it. So what we're going to do is we're going to be working through each section bringing up to the ceiling cutting off the same amount on each section. So when that falls, that will then fall and then that will fall. So that's going to give us a progressive layer, so this is perfect for sort of like a lived-in layer or anything like that. But this is going to be a really quick and visual way of showing you how it's going to look and then, when we do the pro version, which is for the salon floor. This is just an educational tool to show you very very quickly, then you'll be able to see the finished result from wet to dry, but, let's just see taking off all those dead ends through there on the mannequin. What result will be left with? So, let's start with the first one and the first one is going to be the same length and it's going to be the guide through the rest of the haircut. So you can see all of that hair is directed up and elevated to create softness. But what this will do is maintain length down here, so we're going to take what should we say that is: should we go half a cone through there keeping it up to the ceiling? You can see a nice blunt line there, just soften that off next ponytail bring that up to the ceiling. You can see i'm going to take all of that off. I'M going to point cut that through there and that's on top of the head. So that's going to mean they're going to be shorter because the traveling distance is going to be less than what it is down here. Now, let's bring this up, we can drop down that first pony use the middle as our guide. Now there is there and we're going to point cut off through there point that in just to create softness when we are going to be looking at this from a salon, professional salon, floor, sectioning pattern, we're going to be elevating and over directing to still create this Sort of look, but i always like to bring you these videos first, so you can really get an idea of where we're heading to so that's them all done. Let'S look at this front section, so, let's just get that equal through there. What i'm going to do is this is going to cross over here and that's going to cross over there create bangs what we're going to do. That'S going to come over there that's going to come over here and i'm going to use the nose as my guide. So i'm going to bring that down on a diagonal and then just point cut that in there with my knuckle resting on the nose, and that gives us that shape there and then, when we come across here. I then want my fingertips to be resting on the nose and that's just going to give us a really nice bit of face framing fringe through there it gets shorter to longer shorter to longer it's just going to tuck into that ear. So, let's take out these ponytails, let's see what we're left with i'm going to do my trusty shake the results raw, so we've got that nice fringe in there. But i'm going to start this now and show you the finished result once it's styled, but you can see the layers from shorter to longer shorter, to longer fringe shorter to longer. Let'S get installed and i'll bring you the finished result and there it is guys that is it finished, that's just styled fringe. The curls. I use my alpha italia straighteners, my small straighteners, just to work it through to smooth it through as well, because these mannequin heads this was just literally out of the box in ponytails and then put this shape in. So just so. You can see all that nice sort of texture and layer through the back and then it's a really nice simple, easy, quick way to put a fringe in. So if it's been helpful, let me know in the comments down below if you've enjoyed it hit the thumbs up and then, if you can hit that big red button subscribe button to carry on seeing more of my videos hitting your feed until next time. We'Re going to be bringing the salon version of this to you very very soon, but yeah. Thank you so much for watching the videos. I look forward to seeing you on the next video

kk zz: Just did this…. Was absolutely shocked at end results to see I didn’t mess up my hair at all…. Totally works. My mid back length hair HAS LIFE AGAIN….. don’t be afraid with cutting those pony tips off!! I barely lost any length, like maybe an inch at most (but that’s okay because I wanted the dead ends off) and achieved layers and volume and movement recommend. THANKYOUUUU!

Milly Tremblay: This one worked perfectly with my 3C hair. I already had bangs and I didn't pull any up past the occipital and it looks fantastic. I just spent over a hundred getting my hair cut last month and had dog ears on both sides of my head. I was doing my best to start growing them out. The back looked amazing and well face it you can't walk into every room backwards. The front and sides were horrible. Thank you for this one. Dog ears gone.

Jules: THANK YOU! I’m on a budget and just couldn’t justify spending $85 at the salon for a haircut when I have bills to pay lol I just cut my hair today and I was shocked at how I didn’t ruin my haircut! Thank you for providing such helpful videos that make it easy for us to do at home. ☺️

Wings Angels: This is soooo helpful for me!! I am unable to go to the salon to get my hair done. Due, to being stuck in a wheelchair for almost 2 years and now I'm recovering from 2 leg surgeries. So, I need to cut my hair, which I've done since I was 13, and this is the type of hairstyle I want. Can I still do this on wavy hair? This is a wonderful guide for me to follow! Thank you so very much, Paul!! You're the best!! ❤️

jo4vt: I just did this cut on my daughter’s hair as well. I love how it turns out so, so much!

Sharell Cook: Thanks so much for this! Easy to do and turned out really well.

Joy Nut: This was so easy and I really like the cut. It made my hair look so much healthier and curly with less frizz.

Carmen San Juan-Lorie: Yay!!!! The way you explain it & show us makes so much sense that it took the fear out of giving it a go… so I just cut my hair & It seriously looks amazing!!! I’m so thrilled with this! Thank you so much for your videos. Please don’t stop!!!

Cathy Rackowski: Thank you for the very clear sectioning pattern!

jo4vt: Me: Watches video once, trust him implicitly, immediately go cut my hair this way.

Glam Seamless: The finished look is gorgeous!

Mandy Trout: Amazing.. so easy yet makes such a difference! I have very long hair and always have it up in a bun. I started to notice I was losing hair from it always being up so I did a quick cut. Now have some layers and more volume and want to wear it down. Any advice on how to grow back that hair? Mostly on top and in the middle of the head where my bun would be.

Jennifer Deur: I used this to cut my own hair for the very first time. I was real skeptical about the ponytail thing but I decided to go for it, I have long hair so I figured if I didn’t take off more that 2 inches there’s room to fix it . But it turned out great! I wish I could attach pictures here. It was exactly what I wanted.

Sugar_Skull_MUA: I am LOVING your content. So simply and succinctly explained. Thank you for making continuation education and refresher courses for everyone.

Sara by the Sea⛵️: So helpful!! Thank you love all the movement at the end.

SaraiAndKeon: Love it! Thank you so much for this.

aikanae1: This looks interesting. What I find helpful is removing the hairbands after cutting, one at a time, so I can see where the layers/graduations fall. Like you did with the textured bob in 3 pony's. You explain well, but I tend to be a visual learner. How to decide what to do next? Q: can I use the butt end of the scissors to cut ponys? The texture of my hair is very similar to the frizzy wave pattern shown. I'm curious.

Jonette Marcelo: Came across one of your videos, then this, got my scissors and in minutes my 'do had a new look! I love your ponytail techniques! Subscribing for sure. :)

Oonagh72: Will this take weight out of the middle? I cut layers but the middle stayed heavy. (My goal is to remove physical weight but keep length)

Aries: Love your tutorials ❤ I’m gonna try this one on my curly hair, without the fringe Will it look good on 3a curly hair? Keep up the good work

W.R. Carman: Love it. This is my next hair cut.

erika Rubí: Me encantó y esta muy bien explicado

rhinoculousaurus: I wish you would have posted this yesterday, before I chopped my hair shoulder length. Lol. What a great doo. Bravo.

Jenny's Cre8tions: Omg thank you this is everything can you show how you curled/styled the hair like your technique pleaseeeeee

ᴄᴏᴘᴀʀ ʟᴜᴀɴ: Thank you. I do this as one ponytail all bright forward ᵃⁿᵈ use the levelling clip. But this looks better I’ll try over next few days ᵃⁿᵈ let ᵘ•ηᵒ

Dra de camps: Ese mismo corte me lo voy hacer Gracias Gracias Gracias Lo estoy practicando bastante Gracias Gracias

Pa S: Wowed I loved the way how that hairstyle layers cut turn out ..I like your technique very easy n understanding..Thank you so much..

Sunshine: I’m definitely doing this … thank you

poppett martin: @Paul Watts HAIR which of your ponytail cuts would be best on extra long hair? It's down to the top of my butt cheeks, layers from my last haircut in December 2020 are still noticeable but there's a lot of dead hair that needs to be removed aaand i hate sitting on it i still want long hair but need more shape, i could easily lose 10-15cm without considering it to be too much length gone. I'm assuming it would be best to do a blunt cut to remove the length and then going for the ponytails to get the layers? Cheers mate

Oonagh72: Also when you bring the salon version will you show how to do this with a side part.

Rochelle Ricks: I would love to see a side part version!

Eliza: And that's all what I needed!

Shayf: Okay. I want to start this out by saying this is not a criticism on JUST this gentlemen. Because there are so many top of the head pony tail at home cut videos. My issue is all the videos I’ve seen neglect the sides. So the bottom of the cut ends up giving this boxy or rainbow shape at the bottom (the negative space) where the bottom corners are longer than the center. My non hairdresser brain feels like we should be gathering the hair in two additional ponies after the three, angled left and right, to create that smile shape. I wish someone would address this!

shivashakti10: Is it best to cut thick wavy hair wet or dry?

barbare Athar: Love it

Claudia Griego: I'm so glad I'm not the only one who takes my doll heads off the stand after cutting and swings them around too.

Lisa Fritz: I love it!!! And i love how you shook the hair out!! Bahahahaha

Andrea valyirad: Me gusta el volumen que queda en el cabello, muy lindo.

Mina Gray: Beautiful hair cut! Isn’t it a butterfly cut just with shorter bangs?

Alan Norval: Iv been a hairdresser for years and love all your videos

Suzanne Watts: Love the ponytail videos xx

Lady Lisa Romance: Gorgeous

Taffy Farwell: Should it be wet or dry??? I may have missed something

Wendy: Can you style this as a straight style as well as curl and w no bangs or fringe

Linds: Can you do one showing how to style it and how the layers look in a ponytail or updo

Mary Jane: This looks easy and the result is just beautiful. But how is it different from the wolf cut?
