This is a demonstration on how to cut long layers into fine textured hair.

Hi, I'm Timmy and today I'm to show you how to do a long, layered haircut we're basically going to be giving it a nice shape, we're still going to keep it long or we're going to be adding more layers and shaping it up, really nice. So, first I'm going to section it off and I'm going to start working on cutting her length. A lot of people ask me what kind of scissors I use these are Hikari. These are the e2 series. I have two pairs that I use them both. This is more of my spare pair. My I have another pair, that's actually getting sharpened right now, they're, my cosmos. I think I love those a little bit better, but these work good too. So I'm just going to cut a little bit off the length here. Not a lot sides for the length I want to make sure that the front doesn't get shorter than the bag make sure her chin is straight then you're going to comb it down down straight and then just slightly push it back like this and see. If there's anything left to cut - and there is a little bit then what you're going to do is you're going to have her turn her head like this and then calm it down again, you want to ever turn her head, so her hair doesn't touch against her. Shoulder and then it's going to come out here, you want to be able to lay straight and we're just going to pull it down and there really isn't anything left to cut, but a few hairs. Now I'm going to be doing some layering and some shaping in here now. The first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to section out my round signed your rounds by putting the comb on the top of your head and where it starts to angle down. That'S where you want a section on okay, so I sectioned it out where it starts to round up up here. So I'm going to pull this out, we're going to start shaping the long layer, I'm gon na start with my section in the middle pull it straight out from the head, I'm going to cut that corner off right there, I'm going to follow that through on the Side and use a of a traveling guide and cut that corner off right there, always over direct these sections. Here, pull it'll go back so then, when this files it will fall nice and full because of the concave of the head right here. You definitely want to always make sure that you over direct that section back now, I'm just going to pull this out to make sure it's even we're going to start in the middle again then. Are we going I'm going to be taking it off it? So I'm going to take it off around I'm going to round my fingers, make sure that I'm rounding as I go. So I'm also going to round my fingers and I'm going to take that I'm going to take this up like this and then a double check. It take it all the way down, so it all blends, and it does I'm going to take my next section and the same thing up and around so up and around my fingers. So it's all rounded and I can follow that down to make sure it's blending. Okay, I'm going to keep rounding out the hair, and I make it make sure that you are over directing in this section back here in this section here, always over direct that back a little bit, because that compensates for the ear and the missing hair right there. So when it falls, it'll fall nice and full. So I'm going to do the same thing on this other side. Okay, now we're going to do her sides and for her sides I'm going to take those up and around as well I'm going to use this back section here as my guide. First, I'm going to pull it back and then I'm going to pull it forward again and I'm using the rounding technique, like I did in the back round your fingers. If you round your fingers, it just gives it an all over a nice look now for the top. We want them to be layered a little bit more next shaggy like with just long layers. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to take a little section from the back here and that's going to be my guide like here. My rounds are set. Now I took a little section of hair that was already previously cut and I'm going to use that as my guide and actually going to take the whole thing. Her hair is sort of fine, so I can get away with doing it. I'M going to take the whole thing off like this, and you can see the guides right there. You can see the guide right there that little piece right there and I'm just going to cut that straight across now, I'm going to use that guide and I'm going to file it through all the time just sort of straighten it out. Now I'm going to take it down the middle and comb it around and I'm just going to connect the sides with the top. I'M just going to pull it all up, and I'm just going to be rounding that out just connecting it all together. Now we're just going to cut her front section and pull it on forward if they're not doing bangs a good place to start is somewhere between the lips and the chin. So we'll probably go about right here and I'm just going to cut it straight across. But I don't want it to look too boxy in the front, so I'm going to go back to my point of it. You can also do this with the razor which you've seen probably seen in some of my other videos. I use the razor a lot too, but you can also point cut to break that up as well we're just going to blend that in with her size. I really don't want to take it too much shorter in the side, so I have to be careful. We have to do a lot of blending. I use a little bit of redkin satin wear and I'm going to blow dry it out with a large round brush it's dry, I'm just going to clean it up and then texturize it a little bit more, especially around the front. I want to make sure it falls neck, so I'm just going to do a little bit of point, cutting right in the front and double-check my side. So here's kind of find so well right here see how it's kind of like thick in the ends that I'll just point cut. Maybe texture is a little like that anything. Is you want the ends to be not so straight across so when it falls it blends in nicely? Is I'm going to push her hair back and look for like stray hairs like just pieces that just fall out and they're never going to lay nice just like those strays and just go ahead and cut them just kind of push that push this out of the Way so you just have like a little bit hanging and then go through it and if you see any like light pieces, just hanging hanging out just cut on there baby yours they're never going to grow anyway. Here are the results from our long layered haircut. She gets a nice, you

stellawella3: Beautifully presented as usual with loads of information. Tammy helps me loads. I am always watching her videos. Thank you Tammy X

Wahid Awaz: Hi Tammy, i think your hair cutting skills are amazing and i thank you for posting these educational videos. if i may ask, what is the difference between this layered cut you just did and a diamond cut. by the way im a newly graduat and very eager to learn. who could be better to learn from than an amazing hair guru than yourself. thank you.

Niamh Gaynor: Hi tammy I'm following all your videos here in Ireland :) just a quick question ; when doing the layering below the crown in this video I am sometimes ending up with a little ledge near the bottom when the hair drops down I hope you can understand what I am talking about :) Any suggestions what I'm doing wrong ?

stellawella3: Hi Tammy, Love this video as I do all of them. You are my hair guru. How often have you had your Cosmos scissors sharpened? I am thinking of buying some, but don't expect to get them sharpened to often. My friend has a different pair of scissors, that cost around they same as Hikari scissors, he has had them for 9 years and has not had to ever have them sharpened and they are still razor sharp. Thank you

Niamh Gaynor: Hi from Ireland :) thanks for all the tutorials I have now developed your way of cutting and it's much easier to follow xxx

aLiIzKeWl8797: Do you have to shape every layered haircut you do? Or can you just get right into lifting the hair up and cutting? I'm confused

No more War!: do these layers thin the bottom of the hair out a lot?also if ya had a side part would the way u cut it up top b ok?i have a side fringe too so I think it will b ok.thanks for sharing n nice cut.i am up to my acessments at hd school but they don't teach us all techniques at school so I really appreciate hair dressers who put vids on you tube.

Vivien Szabó: Great job! I started to learn hairstyling for 3 months and i seem to be very confused... Honestly i don't know what the difference is between this hair cut and the V layered hair cut? When we cut V layered hair we keep our fingers towards the center of the client head you know what i mean? and in this video you keep your fingers the opposite of the head... Please tell me about it!:)

stnicholas54: Well done. Keep up the good tresswork! :-)

Angela Steele: I was wondering, do you have a front on view of the end result? I quite like this style from what I can see and I wanted to know if its possible to have a photo of it so I can ask my hairdresser to cut my similar. Thank you.
