Hello Dolls! Join me while I possibly ruin my hair lol. In this video I'm trying a bleach bath also known as a bleach wash or soap cap for the first time. I've done my research and prepared as best I could but this could still go very bad. The reason I'm doing this is to prepare for a new hair colour, so stay tuned for a future video on that! Come along on this adventure, I hope you enjoy ♥

Hello, dolls, it's zoe and it's been a long time since my hair has seen any real damage. I try to stay away from heat and harsh chemicals, but i do do some semi-permanent dyes and treatments, but for the most part, the last five years, i've spent growing out my hair and trying to get healthier, thicker hair, and i think i've achieved that my hair Is thicker and healthier than i ever really remember it being, but now it's going gray, i say gray, but i really mean like bright shining silver and there's there's nothing wrong with that. I'M just not ready. I would like to stay in denial about aging for a few more years, at least, and in order to do that, i'm going to have to dye my hair, so i might as well have some fun with it. There are a few colors that i've always wanted to try, but in order to do that, i'm going to have to either lighten my hair or, at the very least strip, some of the dyes i have in my hair out from previous colors. Now i did some research and i talked to my friend who went to hair school and it seems like the easiest way to do. This will be a bleach bath now, a bleach bath, also known as a bleach wash or soap cap, is basically just diluted bleach that you apply like shampoo. It doesn't lift your hair as much as traditional bleaching does, but it also doesn't do as much damage. So my friend the the professional he said that i will need one part bleach, one part developer and one part clarifying shampoo and then he recommended me a good cheap one. So today i will be using tresemme clarifying shampoo and also manic panics, flash lightning bleaching kit. I chose this one because it's easily available it's inexpensive and it's cruelty free. So the bleach kit, it comes with a little brush, we're applying the bleach, uh, a plastic cap and some gloves a little plastic container and inside here is the bleach powder and then 30 volume developer, which is kind of strong. So i don't know if i'm going to leave this on for very long, so most diy, hair youtubers, they apply coconut oil to their hair. Let it soak and then do the bleach bath right on top of the coconut oil. But most hairdressers on the internet suggest that you rinse your hair in cold water first and then apply it to damp hair. So i've decided to mix these two methods together and i'm going to apply some oil i'm going to apply some coconut oil to my hair. Let it sit overnight and then in the morning i'm going to rinse with cool water before doing the bleach bath. So i'm going to apply some coconut oil, and i will see you in the morning all right good morning and welcome to my bathroom. After reading the instructions on the bleach kit, i decided to follow the measurements on the package to make the bleach mixture. So that's one part bleach to three parts developer. Then i just added an equal amount of clarifying shampoo. I already rinsed my hair in cool water and towel dried it a bit beforehand: okay, so applying the bleach i'm starting with the ends and doing the roots last, because the heat from my scalp will help lighten my hair. I then covered my head with a plastic cap and checked the color every 10 minutes. I also added some heat for about 5 minutes after 10 minutes. I could kind of see some lightning but not much after 20 minutes. It was definitely lighter, but i went another 10.. I didn't want to leave this on for more than 30 minutes, because it's a strong developer and i could already see that my hair was lighter. So after 30 minutes i rinsed out the bleach and my hair was much lighter, even when wet, but the lengths and the ends of my hair felt super dry. So i did an egg hair mask to do. This mask mix one egg, with a little bit of your choice of oil and some of your choice of milk. I left that on for 30 minutes and washed it out with some purple shampoo, then i used one of my favorite hair masks on the ends. For some extra moisture now, after all the hair masks, my hair feels pretty much back to normal. I did trim about a centimeter off the ends because i needed a trim anyway, but there's no noticeable damage and it's pretty impressive, because that was some strong bleach. So this is the result. It lifted at least a whole level, maybe two at the roots to like a lighter brown color, and i don't think i missed any spots because it was so easy to apply it lifted fairly evenly pretty. Even although you can still see a band of red hair dye from the previous dies, and then you can also still see, let's see if i can find it - the blue, it's still holding strong here. It did lighten the dyes, though, so the whole process, including the hair masks, took me about an hour and a half. So that's pretty quick. Also, the bleach kit cost about 15 and the shampoo cost eight dollars. So it cost me just over 20 canadian. For this whole process, uh - that's not very much money, especially compared to the salon, and i have more than enough product left over to do this again if i ever want to. So i think that price is pretty amazing. This whole process worked quite well and it was very easy to do also causing very minimal damage. I'M so glad that i know how to do this now anyway. Lori Haberstroh: I'm a hairdresser and a bleach bath is great if you only want slight lift. I did one on myself today. I had applied a red brown shade that went way too dark. 8 min. With my bleach bath and I was a nice shade of light brown with highlights. I was blonde under the color originally. Now when I do mine I pre mix my bleach, stir in shampoo, and add a bit of tap water so it's a pretty thin mixture but not watery. I apply to cool water dampened hair, shampoo in and watch it closely. I really am not fond of oils or conditioners in a bleach bath. It defeats the lightening process with lower volume developers. I condition well when hair is clean. This was not to judge your process you did alright but could have been lighter without additives for conditioning. You are such a pretty girl. You would look nice with a light brown base color with blonde highlights. A few extra lights by your face and you could forget about those pesky grays showing at face frame. But only a suggestion unless you love very dark shades best Enjoyed your video. Hello from California

Cheryl Ardis: If you do again, use a lot more of the bleach bath and apply it in sections, really saturating it all. For people telling you using 30V and it being diluted is true, however don't go above a 20V. If you want to lighten slowly that's all you need. If you did a 40V and diluted to a 30V it will ripe open your hair shaft and cause damage AKA very dry hair.

Aztarte Mia: I remember my trial and error days with bleaching sesh , haha and my hair started shedding very bad. ☹️

Rina Mae: Remember, when you dilute the mixture of 30 volume developer with shampoo, it makes it a 20 volume developer! So it wouldn’t do as much damage as it would using 30 volume straight up

Sergey N: I would recommend you look into no sulfates fast hair growth shampoo.

Annie Hobbs: Not bad, but would’ve seen lighter results if you did all equal parts of everything. 1:1:1, bleach powder, developer, clarifying shampoo. 30vol is a bit high, I would’ve used 20vol. Good job though!

Bennu: Diluting the 30v developer basically made it a 20v so it wasn’t that strong

LibraAlive6: What was the point to this? I'm confused, if you wanted to lift most of the colors out while keeping the hairs integrity, a color remover is the way to go. A bleach bath is primarily used to lift demi or semi permanent color, color that sits on top of the hair cuticle. To remove permanent color you need to bleach it with either a 20 or 30 volume developer depending on how dark the color is and the hair type.

sarah jamal: Can i use a normal shampoo?

Diana Mendoza: Blue shampoo would work best for your brown hair. Purple shampoo only works on blonde hair.

Sumbul Amir: Nice

Tonya Sager: Use effasol, u can get it on Amazon for 7-8 dollars. It gets black black black, box dye or whatever other dye ,you have in your hair completely out within 10 minutes. My hair is so black it looks blue and it works every time. The only thing it does is dry the living shit out of my hair so you definitely want to use those masks with it. But it would remove all that black, blue and red out, within half the time it took you to do what you were doing.

Roz Cindy Love: This worries me. Why did not all the red or green come out. They are semis right? What is more they were put on brown hair unyet still not washed out. How many shampoos since application was it do you reckon? It puts me off wanting to use semis.
