Jojo Siwa Mega Sized Hair Bow With Three Inch Width Ribbon.

First let me apologize about the dogs barking and my constant "throat clearing." I was having a sinus attack at the moment. I've had so much response to my earlier three inch width hair bow and found how popular the mega sized bows are right now including the new line of JoJo Siwa bows. I've also had a flood of questions concerning how to make them. My goal in this tutorial was simply to duplicate my earlier video, but try to add more details and steps. Once again the measurement for the length is 56-57 inches. I recommend using hairspray to stiffen the ribbon before making the bow.

Hey guys, um, I decided to do another tutorial using the 3 inch wide ribbon, and this is just going to be a simple one. It'S the same method as I did with the pink and silver Chevron bow, but I have a lot of people asking me questions about it. So I'm going to do another one in I won't say slow motion, but I'm going to go a little bit slower for some reason. The 3 inch ribbon bows are real popular right now now. The reason why I have the little girl's name Jojo see why. I think that's how you say it. She was one of the dancers on Dance Moms. I think it was, I don't know which shift which season it was some of the later seasons. Anyway, she um precious little blonde head girl who were the big, huge bows, the mega bows in her hair. She always had a bow in her hair and she was famous for wearing the sight of the ponytail on the side of her hair or her head. Well, apparently, she has a line of bows out now that they're sold at Claire's boutique, and so I watched some videos where some of the little girls were sharing their of their collections, and I think there are. I don't know like six five or six bows in the collection anyway um. You know there are two Fedder the mega size and then there are a couple of sequin bows: there's one rainbow they're all boutique sailboats, the for-loop boutique style, and so I think that some of the younger viewers are looking to want to know how to make, and So, that's why I say it's a Jojo inspired mega bow and I may even attempt to make some of her bows like with the red sequin ribbon, whatever I'm babbling, but I just wanted to kind of explain where that inspiration came from because apparently this this line Of bows is real, popular and they're, just so easy to make. You know you could make the exact same thing that you could buy. It clears so anyway for the materials um. I have just this solid navy. Three inch width cut to 56 57 inches long and then, of course, you need your scissors, your hot glue gun. I am just going to simply use a lighter to heat seal on this one rather than my wood burning tool. Okay, a pulse tree thread and a needle now, if you do not have a needle and thread you know you can always just get some string or thread or whatever and feed it through the salon clip rather than use a needle and thread. I don't know some people are entertained, intimidated by the needle and thread okay. I also recommend, as I've said before, that the hairspray is the cheapest bottle. Um, you know you can find and what you want to do is cut your ribbon and hold it out somewhere, where it's not going to bother anybody and just spray it a good amount. You don't have to soak it but spray it. And then you know let it dry, you can put it in front of a hairdryer or a little table fan or something like that. It'Ll dry, you know, 10 15 minutes doesn't take long and then, whatever choice of clip barrette rubber-banding a ponytail rubberband, whatever you want, and then I have the 7/8 coordinating Navy ribbon to make the nut okay. And so that's what we're doing today - and this is just like said, real simple - it's kind of a repeat video actually and I need to find. Ah the salon clip. That'S what I was talking me out and for this one of course, you kind of need a large one where my dogs go it's about time for the small bus to come home. So that's probably what you're hearing once you have your Arbonne pre-cut you want to, and if you have it stiffen and let me explain the reason for new viewers. The reason for stiffening with the hairspray is because, for a bow, this large, it's really hard to make a perky loopy bow with floppy ribbon, it's just impossible. So if your ribbon is good and stiff, your bow is going to come out much better. Okay - and you know you can just simply use hairspray also before I start I want to talk about. Where can I get this? Well, you know there are tons of online websites that sell this ribbon that sell the barrettes. But honestly, you can go to Walmart at least my Walmart. They now sell the 3 inch solid, grosgrain ribbon and you can certainly get the coordinating ribbon for the middle, not okay. They do sell barrettes and and all that stuff they sell the upholstery thread. The you know everything I'm using here with the exception. Maybe of this salon clip um, you can get at Walmart now um another thing that you might want to use. Sometimes I use a little alligator clip to help just you know like an extra pair of hands. Okay, so - and you can get these online as well hair hardware, hair bows Center - they might have some at Sally's, but I'm not sure if they're this this long, my way um you, you know you may be able to get away with with not using the salon. Clip okay get started. First thing you want to do. Is I generally cut my first side to an angle? Okay, so I'm just simply going to cut upwards like that. Okay - and this is where your heat sealing comes in and you can do it with the wood burning tool like in the other videos, but this is just real simple and you just run that lighter over it. You definitely don't want to forget that part. It else you're going to have you know: frayed boughs, for example, I'm watching the videos of some of the young ladies who are 10 and 11 years old they're trying to duplicate these Jojo, see wah bows and I'm looking at them and they're precious, but they're all Frayed up, okay! Well, you want a nice neat bow, you want it to look professional, so this is how you do it don't mess with the fray check. In my opinion, it really just dis colors the ribbon. You know either the wood burning tool or just simply, you know, with parents supervision just kind of run that lighter over it. Okay, now your first loop, basically um. You know I just eyeball it. I know that there are some videos where they measure and you put it on the dot. I don't know that it makes it that much easier. I just think a lot of practice. That'S about the only way that you're going to get it to look the way you want just to do it over and over again. Alright, so your first loop, basically you're taking this flap and you're curling it up - and I've said this before: okay um, I don't like the tails sticking way up here once you have the whole bow made, that's totally up to you, but I don't have my tail Sticking up too much: okay, just a little bit! Okay! Now you don't want it down here. I think that is a mistake that a lot of bow makers make and they wonder why their bows aren't: perky. Okay, when you make your loops, you want it just at a slight angle: okay, with this first flap here: okay, something like that um, it's not straight up and down, but almost okay, it's it's at a slight angle: okay, alright, then you're going to take the other Side and then you kind of overlap and flip that over okay, you see how I did that all I did was I took this around and then I overlapped over that midsection. Okay, so you just basically you take it and overlap in the middle and then readjust to make sure once again that you're at a slight angle and kind of take a look at your loops and just judge to make sure that they're about the same size or Whatever and you're going to be able to check in a little while when you have the salon clip on now. At this point, I get my alligator clip and I clip it right here to hold it in place so that I can use my hands to do the top loops. And I don't have to worry about this. Coming undone because, when you're dealing with an eight inch-wide bow when you're making something this large, you know it's hard to hold everything together until you get the whole thing made and sewn up okay, all right, then I just kind of take my bow and hold it To the side like this, I guess you could put it up doesn't matter. Okay, so you've got the rest of your ribbon here, all right, your left top loop and you just basically turn your ribbon and you're going to slide it behind that triangle. There, okay and and that's what you come up with: okay again, you see off about this right here. You turn it like that and slide it in behind that tail that back tail. Okay, once again, you want to make sure you know. Your angle is not droopy that you have a nice almost straight up and down angle, okay and then the last loop. You simply bring the flap over like that and cross it over in the middle again at a slight angle. Okay, and that's a that's, a pretty big bow, that's a Jojo bow for sure. Okay! Next, the salon clip is so perfect for this size fo. You know, because you can use it to hold your bow in place and check your loops if your loops are not the same size or symmetrical or whatever you're going to have um a bow. That'S off-center, okay and you're, going to have one loop going over here and some loops are bigger than the other okay. Now is this a perfect bow right here? No, that's why you need something to kind of hold it in the center so that you can pull on it and make the loops the way that they're supposed to be okay. Now I just take my alligator clip off at this point and I am actually going to hand fold this. You can use the needle and thread and thread and go in through the back and you know go around if you want, but with these big bows like this, whenever they're um, you know stiff as they are it's easy just to do the accordion fold. But it's up to you, okay! Now at this point I just kind of look. I smash it all in the front here just to kind of judge, and I can tell all my loops are off, so I always just kind of hold it in front of me and then I drag these two down on the bottom. Okay. Well, this sides much shorter okay, so I turn it over and pull this side and readjust and remeasure. Until I get the measure right, okay and if you can see in the camera, these look pretty even now, okay and then I just turn it around to the front, and I do the same thing. I smash my loops down and once again I need to readjust this side is a little smaller alright, so I'm just going to push it over a little bit. Okay and then I'm going to go back and do it again - and you can see this - this is really the the key or one of the keys to getting the boat to look like it's supposed to, because all of your loops need to be symmetrical. Your top two loops need to be the same size and then your bottom, two loops or the you know the same length or whatever now do all four of them have to be. No, not necessarily sometimes I like the top loops to be a little bit smaller than the bottom, okay, but, and definitely alright. Now that I'm pretty satisfied with the size once again, you can just go ahead. Stick this in the middle and feed it around and increase it like. I have in some of the other videos but, like I said it's just as easy to do the accordion fold alright. So what I do is my thumb right here on the bottom. I just kind of push that first hump mountain whatever you want to call it alright, then I kind of go down a little bit further make another one that thumb and then you just simply push that bottom down. Okay and you have the three presets, and I can't tell you how easy much easier is once your bow is stiffened with the hairspray or you know, whatever you use, okay and see. That'S that's what you should have at this point. Okay, then, what I do is I get the needle and thread and I just kind of push down the needle on my table there I start at the top and I push it all the way through and I actually have a little pair of pliers that I Use here because my fingers are not real strong, I have issues I'm supposed to have surgery on my thumb and one of my other ones, but anyway I dread surgery. So I just get a tool to help me and I push it all the way through the middle and then basically, you just go around the middle a few times and then pull it tight and before I tie it off in the back whoo doggies, you can Tell I have dogs and what I do is just kind of take a look at it before I tie it off in the back just in case something went wrong and I need to redo it, and you can tell by listening um to me pulling on this Ribbon how crunchy it is from Hair Spray. You know - and I think it's just going to hold its shape and last a lot longer. Okay, and so that's what it looks like basically, so then you can tie it off in the back honestly. These bows are so easy to make and, like I said, the the Jojo bows are no different, even the ones that are in her collection that are a little bit smaller with. I think, like about a two inch ribbon. This is the exact same method, okay, that this is the for loop, boutique style, hair bow, and it doesn't matter if you're, making a little baby bow or one of these big ones. It'S the same method, so my suggestion, if you want to make a big bow like this, get some smaller ribbon. First, okay, for example, here's this tiny little; it's not even an inch okay. If you look at how quickly there's my first loop, okay there's my second loop, alright and then the top loops slide it behind there just kind of doing it off the Roll here and there you go. You see that that that's the same boat, that's the same! Bows this big one right here: it's the same method, so if you would just get some smaller ribbon master the smaller bows first and then tackle the big, huge ones. That would be my suggestion. I think that you know some you know, viewers are are trying to use the big ribbon first and - and this ribbon is hard to work with and unless you're a little bit more experienced. Okay, so I've lectured enough on that. Alright, so once you've got it tied off in the back, I then just put my choice of clip or barrettes. Now I use the big French barrettes and I think in my last video I talked about using the gorilla glue is what it's called. I don't know what I called it. It was guerrilla something, but it's just gorilla glue all right, so I'm just gluing my and notice. If you're a first-time viewer, I do. I don't cut my string until I have wrapped it around my barrette or whatever you don't have to do that, but with these metal barrettes, sometimes no matter how good your glue is, the Brett doesn't want to stay, and every time I wrap my my string around The middle and then tie it off and these Brett's do not come out see. All I did was I wrapped it around two or three times after I glued it in and then you tie it off, oh and by the way, I guess I didn't mention you have to take that tension bar out of the middle first before alright, and once You have it all tied off, you just cut the thread. Okay and then your tension bar you just kind of slide it in the top and then just set it right. There hold it in the middle and then flip it over, and that's just the easiest way. Without bending it oops forgot something sorry take that tension bar back out we're not there yet, but anyway, that's just to show you okay, now before we do our middle part here, whatever you're going to do to it, we have this messy tail, see that's the fraying. I'M talking about you don't want that. Okay, so I usually just cut my tails at an angle. Also, okay, so I'm just going to cut down get my lighter, I think some of the little girls and the videos they show their Jojo Bo collection. Of course they have all the fancy, music and editing. Well, sorry, girls! I don't have that so. Okay, so we've got the bread in we have our tail fixed. Now, I'm just going to put a simple knot in the middle now and the Jojo bows. The knot is pretty tight. I don't do mine like that, but anyway, basically I and I use a double piece of ribbon. Those of you who watch my videos know that they, just you know it's more efficient to me. You don't have to, but you can. This is Oh about a nine inch piece: okay and you, basically, you make the UH like the awareness symbol and then this bottom piece you slide it under just slide. It back push it up the middle okay, and you see you have it like this, then you turn it. You turn both pieces, okay, so that they're kind of flat on the top. Now, like I said with the Jojo bows, hers are tighter, so you would pull it until it's scrunched up but, like I said I don't necessarily do that. Okay and then you can put a little piece of glue in the middle dot of glue, not piece of glue, and you just simply put that in the middle, beat it around both pieces to the back, all right cut off the excess and you can heat seal. But you know I'm gluing them together, so I don't think there's going to be a problem because remember I doubled up on my ribbon, so I'm just going to glue them together in the back and then glue one flap over the other and you're done. These big bows are so popular right now, and so many people want to know how to make them and they really are just simple, but it's the the width of the ribbon all right, so you don't just gluing one flap down and then the other working for The first time with 3-inch ribbon is a nightmare, especially if it's floppy, that's, why I'm saying stiffen it with that hairspray. First, alright, then you put your tension bar back in alright, ladies girls whomever there it is now, like I said a few videos ago. I did one like this, you know, but maybe I went a little fast or whatever. So I you know kind of wanted to go back, be a little more detailed in my descriptions. Maybe go a little slower. I don't know if I could go any slower than I did today um, so I hope this has helped some of you out some more and you know maybe some some of you who want to make those jo-jo bows since they're. I guess they became popular this summer and I noticed in like the comment sections I made: people look girls in Germany and England and whatever they're looking for the jo-jo bows. So you know what I'm saying is for a lot less. You could make a ton of your own. There are tons of three-inch with print ribbons online. You know, I know all the Joe Joe bows, except for one we're like solid colors. Anyway, I mean you can buy that pink, one that you know in that mint, green or aqua color, one that she the mega bows like this are just solid colors. You can rhinestone them. I have a video on that or you could do the rhinestone around the middle like her black bow. I have a video on that one, also how to do that. So I hope this has helped you guys out. I think for the next one, I'm going to do another three inch bow, but it's going to be over the top, with feathers and a double layer and everything so stay tuned. For that this weekend I have a diaper cake to make and a bunch of orders. So it may be this weekend or so before I get to it, but you guys have a nice day and I might make the next boat a giveaway, so I'll have to come up with something for that. Alright see you guys next time, bye,
