Hey friends, welcome back to llama mama kayla's yarn tube, i'm so excited to be back here with you today. I hope you all had a great weekend and are looking forward to a brand new week. It'S monday for me - and i have a lot going on today. So i wanted to get this video recorded and get it out to you and share with you what i am working on um. I have been crocheting curly hair for a doll, and so this is my um wig cap that i am making and you can see this hair is super super curly. Oh, my gosh, it's so curly, and so i just want to show you explain to you a little the process of how i come to this and how i'm doing my curls and what special thing i'm doing to this hair. To accommodate my doll for the look that i'm going for so yeah, let's get busy with it crocheting curls for days literally for days, so i'm working on this um doll hair for one of my crochet dolls that i'm working on and so um. I thought i would share with you how i'm making this um her hair is obviously going to be super super curly and um. I just thought i would share to tell you how i am making that in the process of doing that so um. First off my doll is in a g hook, a four millimeter hook so generally to do the wig cap and hair. I need to go up a hook, so i'm using a h hook, which is a five millimeter hook, because once i stuff my dolls, the head expands and i generally need to go up a hook size so that my wig cap fits the doll okay. So i'm going to tell you how i started this, but i can't tell you exactly how many rows to do, because your doll may not be the same size as my doll most likely it's not so i'm gon na give you the general idea how to do This and then um and then you can make one for you know a doll head that you're working on so to start off. What i did was make a slip knot and put on my hook. Um, you can do a magic ring and put six single crochets in it. If that's what you're more comfortable doing, i always do a slip, knot chain two and then six single crochets into the first chain and then on the next round. I increased in each of those six stitches, which gave me 12 stitches increase, means that i went two double crochets in each stitch. Okay for the third row, i did one single crochet increase, one single crochet increase all the way around and then for the next row. I did two single crochets increase and then the next row i did three single crochets increase and the next row four single crochets increase. Now, you'll carry on to that until you get your circle like to cover the top of your doll's head, and then you probably want to do a few rows coming down so that it fits your doll's head a little bit um, you don't really want it to Fit like a hat, but you want it to um. You know cover the top of your doll's hair head a little bit, so i think on this one i either did one or two rows, just single crochet, all the way around. With no increases. I might only did one i'm looking at the stitches trying to see, but it looks like it might be two. So then, wherever it stops like when i did my single crochets around and i come back to my stitch marker and then i i just single crocheted into the next stitch, which would have been over here actually and then i just chained 30, and so that's what I'M going to show you how i did right now so over here. This is what i did to start. I just chained 30 to um, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25. 36, 27, 28, 29 and 30.. So i have my strand of 30 here and so to make the hair this curly. Now i don't always make hair this curly. Sometimes i make just curls at the bottom. Sometimes i just do one single crochet, so it's long, um, curls and not tight curls like this, so you have to play around with it and decide what you want to do, but to make the curly curly hair like this, i'm going into the second chain from The hook and i'm putting two single crochets in the next stitch, two single crochets, so i'm doing two single crochets all the way up this chain, and that creates these tight curls that i'm doing right here. So you have to make sure you get every chain. You can't skip a chain or it'll mess up a spot in your curls, and you do have to get two and each one are your curls will mess up so every so often you want to you, know kind of look back and make sure you do have Two okay, so this is what i'm doing all the way up this chain and then i'm going to show you something a little special. I did with this hair because i have a vision in mind that how i want the style to look - sometimes i might would just um crochet down and then just single crochet one in each chain, and that way it just kind of makes a slight curl or You can put a big curls at the bottom and then single crochet so that it's really curly at the bottom, but straight at the top. You have to just kind of play around with it and decide how you want your doll to look. I like making dolls, and i, like you, know giving them each their own unique, look with different hair and such this particular doll that i'm making is going to go on a wreath for the fair. So this is for my doll, that is the um. The doll swinging in the garden, how does your garden grow wreath? This hair is for her we're almost done. It does take a good while to do this hair um i've been working on this for days literally days in between other projects and stuff. You know because it does get tiresome and boredom bored. You know just doing this over and over, but usually i find me something um some a movie to watch and then i can just get busy crocheting curls, but it does take a good while to do this. Like this isn't like an hour of work, so when you get back to the top, what i'm doing is just go into the next single crochet and single crochet into that, and then i chain 30 and start over. So, as i was going around, this gap here seemed to be getting bigger and bigger, but now it's finally closing in - and i've only got one two three four five more curl rows to do so. That'S good all right for this particular doll. Um have a vision that how i want her hair to look and so um. Let'S see, i should have six strands right here, one two, three: four: five: six! Okay! So on my doll, my this particular doll. These six strands i crocheted in the front loop only as i was going around just these six, the rest of them are through both loops the whole single crochet. These are through front loop only because once my doll is done and i have her wig on her, i plan to um flip these back. I plan to flip her hair back like this, but before i even put this on her, i am going to come back in the back loops and i'm going to crochet a little bit of bangs, so i'll, probably chain um anywhere from four to six i'll, just Kind of play with it to see how long i need her bangs like i'll, probably do one i'll. Probably just do this, because this is what i do a lot of times. I'Ll do one that's six, five and four, and then i will try it on the doll and see how that fits with her eyes, because i don't wan na cover her eyes up and see which one looks best and then um i'll rip. Those out and use that number, so what i'm gon na do is i'm going to chain like say a chain five and then i'm just gon na single crochet one time back up that chain and then i'm gon na go all the way across all six of These back loops, and so that's gon - na sit on my dolls like this, because i want her to have curls on the top and not just a bare wig cap, okay, so that is how my doll, i'm making doll hair, and i just thought i would share That with you guys to give you an idea of changing up your doll hair, i used to do the doll hair. Where you, you know, cut strands and um go in and pull it through like fold your yarn in half and go through and pull it through and then pull your other part through it um, but i'm over those days i like doing hair like this much better. I think the doll looks a lot better and it gives the doll a little more um. You know a completed. Look like a finished look so anyway. This is lots of. So here is what my doll's hair is looking like. I don't have it attached to her head. I just have it sitting up here, but i wanted to give you a sneak peek of what she is looking like um. This is how the doll the wig cap fits on her it's probably come down a little bit but, like i said it's not attached um here i went back to the bangs and gave her these little bangs right here and they just kind of curl up, and I ended up doing um a crocheted, i chained six and crocheted back up, so it's five single crochets there to create her little bangs and then this part of her hair, these six rows of curls just lay over just like this, and so that creates um. You know just her curls and i'll fix that all better once i actually do attach it to her head, but i love how it's turning out um. I imagined this doll with just like curly curly hair, and so that's what i did accomplish very much so i i believe we're there. She has curly curly, hair and um. Now i'm working on her legs and this style does not have legs. This pattern does not come with legs, so i'm creating my own legs and i'll just say that um i'm working on the first one and it is turning out adorable. But the idea for this doll is see. This ring came from dollar tree and so um. She is going to sit in the ring um kind of like as if it was a swing here, and that's that's um how this wreath is going to go so we'll be putting this wreath together soon. I am going to be crocheting a tube to go on this wreath and so yeah um i'll, bring you along for that and show you how i am making tubes for these and um. I think it's going to turn out cute. My main thing is: i've got to decide what kind of flowers to put on it. I really didn't want just flat flowers. I wanted some kind of 3d flowers, so i'm thinking um her hair fell off, so i'm just going to leave it. I'M thinking she's going to sit in the ring like this and um. There will be some vines coming up and i wanted it to look like she was in a swing and i do have a little piece of wood, but it might put her up a little too tall. I'M not sure i'm going to experiment with that and just see what happens but um. I need to figure out what kind of flowers to put on here. Like i said, i don't want to put just flat flowers. I want them to kind of be 3d and i do want them to be um. You know pretty flowers and um impressive flowers, i don't want. You know just the simplest little bud flower that there is um. So if you have any good flower suggestions - and you know of a pattern or tutorial you can let me know in the comments - i would appreciate that very much because i do want um. You know i do want some nice flowers, like i said, i'm gon na crochet some vines coming up. I think the bottom half of this it's going to be brown, even though her dress will cover that up. But i wanted it to kind of represent dirt and it might be able to be seen on the sides just a little bit but um and then the rest of it's going to be like blue, such as sky, blue, so um yep. That'S what i'm that's my idea so far, and so hopefully we'll be putting this roof together later this week. Well, i've got to decide on the flowers, so you guys can help me with that. If you can um come up with flower ideas, but anyway, i just wanted to share with you how i um you know, came up with her hair and what was going on with that anyway. I'Ll have to attach that. But there we go some curly curly hair, and i do have these two stitch markers still on here and i'm not going to take them off to the end. Because this marks the beginning and the end of the six strands that i'm flipping back to go over. The headband you see right now it is the same all the way, except these sticks do have that little surprise up under them, where i crocheted in the back loops. No at first i crocheted these six in the front loops only and then come back and did these six for the bangs in the back loops. Only so it created a little bang there, for when i pull those back to go over the wig cap, all right guys. I just wanted to share this with y'all. In case you were making a doll um to give you some ideas of different kinds of hair. To do and different things you can do with the doll hair and, like i said, your circle will be different from mine because it will match what the size doll that you are doing. So i can't tell you exactly: you know: do this many rounds because i don't know what size doll you're doing, but anyway there we go. I make curly cues for arms and legs for clowns that I have been making for about 44 years love your work as always maybe clematis, mandevilla, trumpet vine, morning glories, 4 o'clock or some other flowering vine. Or a combination of two different flowering vines intertwining. You could then add a few small butterflies and or a couple of hummingbirds. You can also use 1 or 2 of your beer buttons. ‍♀️ just a thought

If you haven't thought of it, if you find she's sitting higher than you prefer, you could always cut out the last row of the wreath just where she sits. it would still be sturdy enough without that portion.

Lorna Gowan: Just a suggestion, I’d also add a butterfly and a little bird because they are always in a garden. Their are many flower tutorials on YouTube so I’m so sure you can find something you’d like. It’s going to be very cute. You can always cut down the wooden swing seat to just fit underneath her bottom, and use some twine to attach to the seat and at the top of the wreath. Just some idea’s. Our fair had already came and went or I might have entered a couple of projects. Oh well maybe next year if I’m still on this earth .
