How to cut your own hair. This tutorial will teach you how to cut off length off your own hair. Its super easy and you can save money.

No matter what type of hair you have curly, straight or wavy. You can use this technique on yourself or a friend.

By the way I must add... Im doing these videos to help and to teach you the things I know. Anything you attempt, you are responsible for ur own results.

Hey guys welcome back, I'm gon na go ahead and make you guys another video. Well, this one's actually a request on how to take some length off of your long hair. Um mine is actually really short because I've been you know using my layer technique that I made the other video of and again I'm sorry about the lighting. This is the only quiet room that I have, and so my video lighting might look different on some videos and um. I'M gon na have to use awake for this one because I've cut my hair really really short. You know using my layer technique, see it's really really really really short and to get it. This short, I use the same technique that I'm going to show you guys and then afterwards I use my layering technique to get some layers in it, but I'll just go ahead and show you how to take off the length and maybe towards the end I'll show You how to get some layers in this short hair, but basically I'm just go ahead and tie my hair up at the bottom and put this wig on. So I can show you guys and basically you're going to need the same things that we use on my layer cutting tutorial, except for this one you're going to need two ponytails and obviously the scissors and again any scissors will do, especially if your hair is really Really coarse, but you know you can have some that are just for your hair and that's basically what you're going to need. So let me go ahead and put this wig on see it's a wig. I normally don't wear they're these. These are actually my daughters. They play dress-up and stuff, so let me put this wig on and scuse me afraid disappear. Okay, just clipping it in the back. Okay, and I probably look really funny not used to this wake. Okay, so, as you guys can see, this wig has pretty good length in it. I hope you guys can see it wearing a black shirt so basically to take the length off it's pretty easy. Are you going to do is make sure your hair is what I do not recommend cutting hair or while it's dry, especially if it's curly or wavy, you want to make sure that you get get it all nice and straight into the ponytail, so that you can Get an even cut so all you're going to do is you're going to take a comb and part your hair halfway on this wig I'll, probably have to use my my fingers and again looking that way, my mirrors over there, but all you do is you part It halfway like you're, going to do two ponytails and doesn't have to be too perfect. Okay, so you put it halfway. Remember hair should be wet for this and I'm go ahead and get your comb or your brush. Whatever you use to comb comb, it all out. My brush and go ahead and comb it out. You know make sure that you get everything no tangles and remember here should be wet. Okay and sorry, if I say okay a lot, my other video, they said that I said: okay, a lot so sorry so now, you've got your hair, parted and you're going to break drape it over your shoulders, basically bring it towards the front and what you're going To do is you're going to go ahead and grab it, and you know comb out anything that you think needs to be combed out and what you're going to do is you're going to tie it right underneath your chin. I know I look funny and - and this wig has layers in it so okay and make sure that when you tie it, you don't twist the hair this way or twist it that way. Make sure that each piece is you know, there's piece goes here. This piece goes here just for your, not clarification, okay, so you tie it underneath your chin. Let me do this again, because I wanted to tie this club as close as possible to my chin, okay, okay, and try to get it a little straight. No, no, if you can see it because kind of dark, my lighting really bad and so then um at this point. If your hair is not too coarse and it's kind of thin like this wigs, you can go ahead and see and go ahead and chop off or you can go ahead and take the second ponytail. It'S just you know to make sure you get. You know a nice even straight line, which is impossible by the way, go ahead and take your second ponytail and place it underneath the other one and go ahead and bring it down to whatever length. It is that you want to take off. You know, and so um for this one I suggest cutting underneath the ponytail and so take it down wherever it is. You want to take it off. You know the length so if you want to go really really short like me, what you do is cut where the ponytail is over here, underneath your chin and you'll get the length that I have and I'll show you guys again at the end of the video And so you know what you try to do is get really nice straight lines, so cut underneath the ponytail so that the hair doesn't go that way and if you need to trim it or even it out, so I'm not going to cut the wigs hair. So once you have your ponytail wherever it is that you want it, go ahead and start you know, cutting underneath the ponytail and make the strut the the line as straight as possible or, however, it is that you want the line to be okay. So once you do that and you've got it cut, go ahead and take your ponytails off and you throw it back and you should have a nice little u-shape in the back, which I know on the way you can't see it. But you'll have like a nice little you shape in the back. Okay, that's the preferred method method to go, as least for me, to take off the length okay, you can also go ahead and tie all your hair to the back and put a ponytail on it. Okay, there we go with you, okay and go ahead and bring the ponytail down to wherever it is that you want to cut off for the life you want to cut off, and obviously, if your hair's too long, you know, go ahead and try to bring it Down and then to cut it off, bring the ponytail up. You know and look in the mirror and go ahead and cut off. You know toward this side of the ponytail. You know so that the hair doesn't come off of it and then, if you do it this way, though, what you'll end up is a really really straight line in the back. So it depends it's up to you if you want like a really really straight line in actually look it'll, actually look like like it bends this way down, instead of looking round up sorry tease ago, so um, that's basically how I do it and that's basically how I cut my daughter's hair than mine, so I hope that this helps and that you enjoy my videos and, if there's anything that you would like for me to do or any video requests go ahead and send me a message and I'll get it up for you Guys, thanks for watching

A Jack: Okay so I had used the other method before (hair tied on forehead) good layers but did not take off length. Decided to try your way and.... THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!! I LOVE IT! Took me about an hour because I am a chicken shit lol, but ended up slowly cutting off about 6 inches, very happy with the results. Thank you again

Seriously People?: Hi BargainTips4u :)  I followed the directions in your video on layering, and it turned out great. Then I followed the directions in this video on cutting the length, and it turned out great, too. Turned out exactly how I wanted it to. Thank you so much for showing us how :)  God Bless you, and Have a Happy New Year!

Vanessa jj: Great video, easy to understand, and easy to do. I have done this a couple of times along with your layering video, and my hair always comes out great. And i wasn't bothered by you saying "ok", some people can be so picky.

MeowValet: Genius! This totally worked for my naturally wavy hair (made sure to cut while it was wet). I started with cutting just a half inch or so and it worked so well I immediately set it again and took off another 1.5 inches. Thank you! Thank you! I hate paying a crap load to get my long hair cut straight. You've save me not only the money but the time and hassle.

Brendaly Beltran: I decided to try this because of all the positive feedback in the comments and I'm glad I did! It turned out great. I didn't cut as short as i wanted it because of fear but it still turned out awesome. Thanks!

Laura Lily: Thank you! This method worked great for my long straight hair. You did a great job of explaining it and I thought you looked very cute in the long hair wig too!

Nikki Botts: Hi Hazel! I have been using your under the chin method for years and have been SO happy with how it always turns out great. Today I was looking for the layered version to try. Thank You for years of good hair cuts!

whitemorn: Thanks for the video! I'm normally intimidated by hair salons and have nobody else to help me cut the length, so I will definitely use the under the chin method.

Victoria Zaporozhets: Wonderful, just so simple, thanks a lot, have just done it and it really works! Great job.

Betsy Serna: Did this and the layering one yesterday... came out GREAT! My hair was down to my waist. Now it's up to bra line :) THANKS!

Rocklyn Hamilton: I like all the different techniques that you have given! Very informative! I have longer hair now and never liked the straight across look because I have curly hair. I can see that this could work with my hair. The U shape is so much prettier! Great job!

Whit Larson: Just wanted to let you know I used the technique in this video and your layering technique and I LOVE the results. I may never go to a hairstylist again. THANK YOU!!

Haifa Akbar: I followed your instructions and it worked. My bf trimmed the back though because it looked like a V shape instead of a U shape. Anyways it was great and saved me the money and the hassle. Thank you so much :)

Alvarado Orocovis: I used your video of layers and came out great. Regarding the comment about not cutting the hair dry because it might come out too short, do like me, while dry and curly I looked at the mirror and estimated how much I wanted to cut. I mesured it, then follow the video, measure the lengh, put the rubber band where I wanted and vuoala, just perfect!! Thanks girl for your help.

HONEY HERRERA: hi!! thank you for your tips, I wonder if can do a tutorial on how to cut layers into sohort medium hair??? :)

Luxury Queen: Great tutorial! Thanks so much!

Patricia Carrasco: ur a genius! lol. thank u so much for this vid and the other ones for layers...i took the plunge and cut off my nearly butt-length hair to my shoulders and then did layers in the front....u saved mr money cuz i dont think im ever going to the salon again and im freakin poor....God bless sweetheart!

kerryhidrah hidrah: It was so clear ,I love it. Thankxxx .

Laura Bergeron: I love your videos! Very simple to follow! I will be trying this method later! Dont even worry about saying ok, lol i didnt even notice til you said something :) Better then always saying "like". I do have a question on "point cutting", i saw on other videos how it left the ends nice and smooth, do u have any videos on that? Keep making those videos :) *Peace,Love, & Happiness*

CharDiva Timms: Thank you, very easy explanation on how to cut.

PalemoonTwilight: Hi! I just want to thank you for sharing this video...because of you I can now take care of trimming my long hair and I don't have to spend money on a haircut...and see a movie instead ;-) So...THANK YOU!

ilite2002: I did the layer haircut with your video I decided to color my hair.... I was not happy with the length... I wanted it shorter, found this video. I am so happy with the results!!!! It worked out just like you explained it to. Thank You!!!

platinumblondie: thank you!!!!! it looks so easy. and i didn't mind the ok's. you did a great demonstration.

StarDenmark: I love your video's  and I've been cutting my own her because of your video. Thanks for the help !

KenoBabe777: Great Video and you looked really CUTE in that layered wig! It was a nice look! This is the BEST way to cut your hair short yourself and NOT get that Straight cut in the back! Makes it look so professional!! Thanks!

Carey Wiggin: Great video, have tried this technique a few times my self, and I get complments from my co workers.

Lea Stum: Just did it. Worked perfectly

Curiosity Cat Dissents: She is rather adorable! Very interesting method. Wow! I could have pondered how to trim my own long hair for a thousand years and I would never have come up with this idea. I'm going to try it. I'm going to cut it two inches longer than I want it. This way if I mess it up a stylist will still have enough length to fix my mistake. ..... This is so crazy it just might work! ..... What could possibly go wrong? ..... Wish me luck, I'm going in!!!

Ashley Smith: This works great!

Ralph Hutchins: Thank you. Really helps.

Lin C: You actually are good at what you do thanks

TwistedBarbie: Going to try this tonight! I'll straighten my hair first as it tends to be a bit wavy at the ends. It's back-length and thick, so I'm a bit nervous, scissors have a hard time getting through my hair. But I want a good few inches off and I'm not paying Hairdresser's prices to do so when I can do it myself. :) Thank you for the video, wish me luck. lol

Susan Hall: Thank you! I like you AND your tutorials.

KoalaScribbles: But it also gives you a higher chance of getting split ends, especially if the scissors aren't sharp.

Elvis fan girl: great information, thank you.

Rusty Shackleford: This method works better for me than the ponytail (at the top of the head) or unicorn technique. Well done

Kelley Owen: Thanks saves time & keeps me looking fresh

Kian lige: you don't have to apologize for what u say or do like don't apologize for saying okay that's what you say what u do its u don't apologize for what you do or who you are be comfortable with yourself

Simosara 01: It really did help thanks :)

Isabel Cendejas: i love this method

stephanie Hernandez: it worked out great (:

Rafael Baldo: Hi, your videos are excellent, you are helping a lot of people, God bless you!!! may I ask you a question? how must I cut to get a v shape? Thanks!!!

themodifiedbarbie: Glad to see this worked for everyone else but I had hair that touched the back of my jeans and now it's to my collar bones - this did not work for my hair what so ever, so I'm just going to laugh about it lol

ashley v: this is the best video ever just got done doing it so easy

james willington: Wow, this haircut makes every girl look beautiful, fresh and confident! #bobcutfashionistas

Family Friendly Name: I did it, it works. Just gotta be careful with brushing all your hair to the front

Jennifer Palmatier: The wig actually looks good on you! =]

Sarah 2: Hello just wondering is it comfortable tying from the front, I'm concerned i might feel strangeled ?

Chassity Taylor: What if my hair my hair is parted on the side, should I still part it down the middle when I cut it? Would that make it uneven for when I part it back to the side after I cut it or will it matter at all?

Katie Mounsey: Has anyone with curly hair tried this? I’d love to hear results

April Wines: thanks,great video!!

Hazel_BlueStar: Move the ponytail closer to ur face or next. I guess dependeing on how short u want to go u should place the pony in the back of ur head instead of towards the front

ktco83: Ty for posting this came in handy during 2020 quarantine

Elane Horhi: Cutting the hair the way you show in the video causes the hair not to be straight. It will end up with shaggy ends and uneven because the hair is not pulled back together all at the same exact angels. No?

OmeFaye: nice vdeo. will def try this! wish me luck!! :))

Brunette M: that was helpful thanks

Emmie Blue: Thank you! :)

Cicci Forsgren: Tried it but it really didn't get even in the back. I have thin straight hair so that's the most important thing to me.

Daisy Elizabeth Ferrell: Thanks you are so awesome.

Gabriella Martinez: Thank You & So Any siccors you can use they don't have to be specific ones .??

Nemsie: Hey, i really liked your video but i have a question, i want to cut my hair shorter how do i do it?

Patricia Trujillo: YOU CAN SAY OKAY ALL YOU WANT. ☺️

mary savage: Thanks so much!

Mynameisamrin: Tying it at the back wont make it a straight line though. I tried it twice and it came out like an upside-down U. It was still cute though..

Vanessa Smith: You're so cute! Thanks! Great vid!

Samantha Hylton: Will you please tell me if I need to have hair cutting scissors? My hair is very thick.

luz ocasio: Would have loved to see you really cut it and how it came out.

Hazel_BlueStar: Glad Im helping all of you... been offline for a bit, but I get all of your comments in my e-mail...

sonja carroll: thank you my step daughter cut her own hair and I didn't have money to take her to have it fixed I looked up videos and I found yours now my step daughter does look like she got he head caught in a weed wacker but there is one question I do have from where I went to hair dresser last year they messed up my layers real bad and now I look like I have a beiber hair cut on one sid and I don't want to take of any length because its a little above my shoulders what would you suggest

Keto Lifestyle & Vlogs with Alvina Rayne: Great video

corsican lulu: idk i did this w/ my straight hair and it didnt have to be wet...maybe only curly hair needs to be wet?

sadie smith: Remember hair wet remember hair wet so many times and I still forgot lol great video

Luisa Montez: Thank you for your haircut videos

bekahbaby: Going to try this on my wig. I hope it doesn't give me a blunt choppy look. Hate that :(

nicole nicoles: I want to try this so bad but I'm.scared to. My hair is getting too long and I can't even get a hair appointment. Its driving me crazy

Hazel_BlueStar: thats right U will not get a straight line, u get more of a U shape.. Not everyone likes a very straight line, but if you want a straight line just tie the pony on the back of your head instead of bring it to the front.. Its a lot more difficult to cut your hair if you have the pony in the back but you can def give it a try

Mini mayhen: What a great idea :-) x x x x x Thank's dear x x x x

halah halo: great thanx a lot dear.

Kathlyn Allen: I just chopped my hair off I should have watched this first

Lucyb Davies: hey how m gonna see how does it really look like until you chop it off for real?

nurul norule: hi bargaintips4u...i just wonder why u keep saying dont cut your hair while its dry?any reason?
