Hi guys and welcome to another everything, hair video, where i created safe space for black women, of all hair types to learn, educate and inspire each other on all things hair in today's video we'll be talking about protective styling and low manipulation. Hairstyles we'll be talking about when and how long to wear them what they are and also simple tips. You can follow when rocking protective hairstyle or a low manipulation hairstyle a lot of people. Think protective styling is a myth, but i personally am a big fan of it, because it helps to retain moisture and lymph. A protective style is a hairstyle that tucks the hair away and keeps it from manipulation. There are different types and variations of protective hairstyles, as you can see from today's video and also from our previous video. They can include braids to locks and even different kinds of twists. Our hair is often prone to breakage or damage from the elements due to its texture and protective hairstyles aim to guard against this now, when talking about low manipulation, hairstyles low manipulation, hairstyles is less about the ends and more about creating a style that requires less touching. Overall, it is really any hairstyle that doesn't require you to touch your hair too much now, let's talk about the difference between a protective hairstyle and a low manipulation hairstyle, while the main point of both options is to prevent breakage and damage as well as help you Retain length the matter of when to wear protective hairstyles may depend on the state of your ends. If you're looking to protect your ends, or you think that they are looking a little frazzled, then a protective hairstyle is the way to go. However, if you're looking for a way to handle your hair, less then a low manipulation style is best when choosing between the two. You should really consider the amount of maintenance for each style. If you're looking for something that will last you a little bit longer, protective hairstyle is usually better than a low manipulation. Hairstyle. A protective hairstyle will last you for about two weeks to two months and a low manipulation. Hairstyle is a hairstyle that can last for a few days to a week. One thing that you should note is that at all costs, if you can try as much as possible to avoid hot tools, hot tools like flat, irons, blow dryers and curling wands and excessive combing are a key factor when it comes to retaining length, regardless of the Style using these hot tools frequently is considered high manipulation and they honestly pose a threat to your hair's health. So try as much as possible to avoid them when styling now, which hairstyle should you wear, and when should you wear them, as i said before, making the choice between wearing a protective hairstyle and low manipulation, hairstyle is up to you and the needs of your hair. Both options are made to keep your hair in a healthy state and to prevent damage. It really depends on the state of your hair. A good rule of thumb, as i said before, would be to check the ends of your hair. If you think that they are looking a little frazzled or damaged, then just do a trim and go for a protective hairstyle. If you are just looking to avoid drying out your hair or to keep your hands away from it for a bit, then a low manipulation hairstyle is the one to go with. Ultimately, the hair is yours: it's on your head, so you can wear either category of style whenever you like one thing that a lot of people think about when they think of protective styling, including myself, is that better styling helps you to keep your hands away from Your from your hair and um, we often misunderstand this, and once we have protective styles, we don't try to take care of our hair, which is something that we do wrong in the black hair community. Protective hairstyles still require some daily and weekly care. Just leaving your weave or braids or fall locks without any maintenance is counterproductive to wearing a protective hairstyle as much as the reason for the protective hairstyle is to take your hands away from your hair for a while. You still need to take care of it because you're not going to retain any moisture or length if you don't constantly take your hair, neglecting your hair, while it's in a protective hairstyle is highly likely to damage your hair and i'm sure you don't have the time For that, so now i'm going to give you a few tips that you can follow when rocking a protective, hairstyle or low manipulation hairstyle with regards to a long inflation hairstyle. If you opt for braided or twisted extensions like knotless box, braids, normal traditional box, braids or twists and faux locs, be sure that the extensions are not pulling on your hair, because this can cause breakage. Ask your stylist not to pull too tightly, because these can cause headaches and headaches. I'M not a good sign when you install a protective hairstyle. Our next tip is that you should keep your scalp and your hair clean by washing your hair weekly. If you have a protective hairstyle on, then you can extend it to another week, so every two weeks make sure that your hair is washed and your scalp and hair is clean. Our next tip is to keep your hair moisturized so as often as you might want to just make sure that your hair is constantly moisturized on our affiliate shop. You would find different products that you can use to both cleanse your hair and also to moisturize your hair constantly i'll leave that in the description box, and i hope that you check it out. Our fourth tip is to sleep with a satin bonnet, to keep your hair meat and moisturized failing to wear a quality satin bonnet. While you have your protective style or just any style at night is one of the key elements. Many people miss when it comes to their hair journey and essentially what a satin bonnet does is that it helps you to trap um the rich oils and moisturizers that were applied to your hair um for cutting materials. Cutting material like your pillowcase is a natural absorbent of moisture and oils, so you're more likely to wake up with dry hair, even though you moisturize it previously. So the focus of a satin bonnet would be to keep the moisture in your hair instead of allowing it to evaporate out. Our last tip, for you is to be bold and express yourself with styling every week on this channel will make sure that we post different inspirations for you on how to style your hair, so whatever way that you deem fit express yourself with your hair styling. Thank you guys for watching today's video. If you liked this video make sure to leave a like and subscribe to the channel if you've not subscribed.
