And today I'm going to be sharing with you, my tips for growing long hair. Now my hair lengths, those of you who have followed my journey um I've got a hair journey video and I'm going to do an updated one actually um. My hair literally stayed at between neck plant and collarbone length for many many many years, pretty much my entire life and I was able to grow my hair to pretty much no hip length and there are a few practices which I changed, which made a world of Difference now whether you are Asian, whether you are white, whether you are mixed-race, whether you are black, whether you are curly or relaxed, I think that these tips will work for yourself, make sure you stick tip number uno tip number. One would be make sure that you deep condition. Oh, my goodness, I never ever wash my hair without deep conditioning like ever, and that is a major difference, whereas before I would deep conditioned monthly or maybe every six weeks now, I do not wash my hair without following up immediately with a deep condition. I do have a video on how I mix my deep conditioner you can, if you are Caucasian you might want to put in or Asian. Oh, if you have like a finer, hair texture, my cat's comes investigators going and you might want to put in honey and aloe vera juice and stay away from oils. If your hair is quite quite fine and gets weighed down easily, but with a protects, your hair and textures of hair, you might want to put in an oil and, depending on how tightly coiled your hair is, you might want to put in more oil because the More tightly coiled, your hair is the more oil you can actually actually tolerate. Okay, so you might want to start with maybe half a teaspoon if your hair is fine and got quite away the loose curl and kind of work, your way up so always deep condition. You can just use a conditioner, that's fine, but I do tend to want to mix in. I do tend to want to mix in oils and to have a video on on how I do that. We make sure that you seal in your moisture. So once you have deep conditioned, you know again, if you're Caucasian you might want to go for Asian, you might want to go for just aloe vera just to seal in and lock in that moisture and if you've got more kinky hair textures. You probably want to go with a leave-in, conditioner and then seal with an oil or a butter um. When I first dyed my hair journey, I would literally moisturize my hair with the leave-in conditioner and seal twice a day with a coconut oil and, as I kind of got to know what my hair was like. I realized that. Actually, I don't need to be doing it like twice day that, once a day or once every other day with the oils is sufficient, so make sure that you moisturize and so in order to moisturize. You must use a water-based leave-in or after rinsing out your conditioner seal with aloe vera. If you've got my Caucasian style, hair or Asian, star hair, but yeah with me. I used a leave-in conditioner, but has like first ingredient is water and then just seal very lightly. With an oil, it's normally coconut oil or afro veda oil is what I use to seal. Sorry, my cat's just chilling out with me other thing that I would suggest would be to use protein or henna to strengthen your hair. So when I started my hair journey, I would literally use a chi would be an egg with oil and conditioner and use that as a pre-poo, which is a treatment before you shampoo, your hair. I highly recommend it: okay, it is incredibly strengthening for the hair and I would not ever leave it in for longer than 20 minutes right. If you are new to using protein treatments, you might want to start with 5 or 10 minutes. Oh, my gosh, my cat is chasing a flying here. You just knocked over camera and thanks for that Tigger, so yeah you might want to start with 5 or 10 minutes, but basically just whisk. Up depending on your length, I mean I'm Emily, use two eggs and throw in some just a cheap conditioner. You can use ozzie or you can use alberto or something you know just from the pound shop, and I just mix that up and throw in loads of oil. I really like using avocado oil, olive oil in there and just mix that up and then just saturate. Your hair from your scalp all the way down, just pin it up and then put it into a plastic cap and allow it to sit for again, like I say, for a maximum of 20 minutes and then I'll just jump in the shower wash it all out. And then put in a moisturizing deep conditioner always follow with a moisturizing or balancing conditioner, and so the reason that's important is because it prevents your hair from splitting okay, so you've done the moisture so you've added the moisture. The moisturization allows your hair to be supple. If you like that, little sorry and so yeah the moisture allows your hair to be supple and then the protein gives it that strength. Okay, so it's it's not easily broken. Now it's not strong but brittle, and it's not moisturizing easy to break in spring okay. So if you've got moisture and protein imbalance, then you know that is a pretty big step to growing long hair. What I like to do to strengthen my hair nowadays, I don't really do the egg thing that often and except, if I'm using it, maybe with a straight henna treatment um, but mainly at the moment. I utilize henna, but I use it in a tea spray. I have got a video on how I make that I'm going to link it here and so yeah. I use a helot to strengthen my hair and that works. Amazingly, I put that in three times a week I have done with moisturize and deep conditioner and and in the mornings before I put in my leave-in I'll, just spritz throughout my hair and then I'll put in my leave-in conditioner and seal with oils. So I'm strengthening moisturizing and sealing, or in one go a few people have asked to see how I use the henna tea. So I might actually do a video one. Like my curly excuse me my curly morning routine, so you guys can see, because I did have quite a few questions on how to use in to use it properly. So yeah hang out. Oh my goodness, I've got a video on how amazing it is. It strengthens the hair like nothing else. Okay is renowned, I mean is used all over em Africa, Morocco, India and - and you know, especially the Indians and the Moroccans. They know a good deal about taking care of and growing healthy hair. Am i wrong guys? Am I wrong? No, I'm not come on my Moroccans and Indians comment below is true. It is very true. It is amazing in its strengthening abilities and its conditioning abilities and, like I say, if you you're interested in more details that you have a video on that. So that will be linked there you to check out. My other tip would be to utilize other I'm IRA, Vedic herbs. Okay, Shikoku is known to really stimulate hair growth, shikai cutting Amla, I'm spraying that on your scalp and again I usually my Hannity's, but my spritzes and I spray it on the scalp all the way down through times a week, so my other tip would be used. Ira fade it curves, get to know your hubs. You might be thinking. This is woman. Chatting honestly the world of difference it makes is just unreal trim. Only when necessary, I used to kind of one of my issues was I used to trim my hair like every six to eight weeks and no, I would take every eight weeks I used to trim my hair, and that was just where too often you need to See if your hair work, why is it is it damaged? Is it looking weathered, do you see split ends? Do you see single strand not scoring if the answer those questions is yes, then go ahead which from your hair, but if your hair is, we can find the answer. Looking good, I mean there is really no need to excessively trim because you're just going to cut back on your progress and - and I know that stylists say that you should trim every eight weeks and let's face it, I mean they've got a business to run. You know if you are using a lot of heat in your hair. Then then, actually that's a good idea. But if you are, you know protective styling. If you are moisturizing ceiling, deep conditioning, you know and in your hair is being pampered you're not going to need to cut your hair. That often I find that when the seasons change, maybe every three to four months, I might feel the need to actually get a trim. I mean, I think, in the second year of my hair journey, I just dusted throughout the year and at the end, the end of the year. I got a trim, so I literally just did the search-and-destroy method, but ain't. Nobody got time for that anymore. I hate especially not with a little one: okay protective style. Now you know if your hair is constantly like just exposed, it is going to get caught and stuff. I mean I can't tell you how, often in the day, even though I've got my hair straight and I'm enjoying my legs and if it was great to you, know, actually be able to see what the length is light because the shrinkage, when I've got my hair Curly doesn't allow me to see what my length is like. I can't tell you how much of the day my hair is actually pinned up. Okay, when I'm driving to wherever I'm going. My hair is just actually here's my clip. This is what I use. I just clip it up into a bun when I arrive where I'm going to be, you know, say I want to let my hair up. I would do that when I get that um but yeah protect his styling um and there's lots of different protective styles that you can use. My favorite is a bun. You can do fishtail braids French braids. You could do twists, but if you're going to use a true protective style, you do your two strand twist and then you put it into. I don't know you can turn it onto itself onto an ALICE band or under itself or put it in a bun. The ends need to be protected. It was going to be a true protective style. Okay, so protective style is a style in which your ends of your hair are not exposed to the elements. Okay, so if you think about how the winter affects your skin and drives from skin that's exposed, which is on your face and cracks it okay, that's the same thing that happens to your hair ends up feeling or becoming dry or brittle, and you know you're going From the cold outside then into central heating, and all of that just contributes damaging your hair. I mean your face gets dry and it's got like a fresh supply of nutrients and oxygen, let alone the ends of your hair, which is probably years old. So I would say make sure that you protect his style and minimize your um minimize, your handling of your hair. I know being hypocritical right now because it touched my hair like a thousand times in this video, but it's only because it's enough we'll take my husband's straight for three days and I'll my, but generally speaking I mean I could buy my hair and just leave it In a bun for two days and like not actually manipulate it, just freshen up my edges and nobody knows difference a balance, a bond. I wear buns most days boring, I know, but if I could be bothered there are loads and loads of fun. Protective styles that I could do so yeah find you a protective style and minimize your fidgeting or fiddling with your hair. Okay, because again continual contact and pulling and tugging that actually breaks the ends of your hair and therefore we don't see retention of length. This is massive myth out there that black or afro hair does not grow. That is completely false amount of times pad women say what are you doing to make your hair grow? I can't get my hair to grow out this, not true. If your hair didn't grow, you would not have to relax it. You would not have to you know: touch-up ends, like you know, retouch your color or your relaxer. You wouldn't have to take your extensions out and, put you know a fresh batch back in we. You know the braids that you've got in your hair, wouldn't end up down here with all they. You know non braided hair at the roots. If you get one saying so, our hair does grow, but we just need to make sure that we're taking care of the ends, because your hair's growing an inch every month and it's breaking three quarters of an inch. Let'S say, then you don't actually see any progress. Make sure that you finger detangle now the reason for that is if our cell was detangling, this portion of hair hair and I came across a knot, I could negotiate that knot, I'm kind of try and unravel it and that's what I do, whereas if you have A calm is just like you are forcing it through, and it's going to snap the hair, and I think that that is probably one of the biggest things to retaining length. I mean I was speaking to a lady today and she was like. Oh, what should I do? My hair is not retaining any length ID condition it and but my hair is still not running and I was like more. How do you detangle your hair and she used a comb um and you know because I would say quite rough with to tamping her hair, so I would say detangle with your fingers first once you've done, that you can go in with a con, and that would Be of course, tremendously important in helping you, because if you have a knot that let's say, there's a more length off to that and there's not up here and you're trying to comb that through and you break it all the hair beneath it is broken. And over time, you'd be surprised how much breakage you can actually accumulate to the ends of your hair and how whether the ends of your hair end up looking and of course, then you need to trim it, so I would say finger detangle. It has been, I think, in addition to deep conditioning with oils, has been probably the most critical to helping to attaining minimize your use of heat. So I straighten my hair. I move once a year once every fourteen twelve to fourteen months now that I attained the length that I am aiming for. I might do that every six months. I do not see myself doing my hair straightening, my hair more than every six months and realistically it might just stay as once a year just to kind of change things up and the reason for that is everybody knows it damages your hair. I remember when I started my hair journey, one of the very first times I went to a professional to straighten my hair and she passed the the the straightener in through my hair too many times. I could literally see the burnt literally the ends of my hair had like white bulbs, all the way up, my hair shot. You could see like the damage, and you know if you know if you use heat, you know what I'm talking about. If you use heat and lock, you know I'm talking about so of course it's rubbing, but it's breaking in that direction because of excessive heat and you're not going to retain length. Now, if you are say, for example, transitioning - and you know, you're wanting to use heat to make sure that your relaxed ends and your roots are some of the texture or you know you struggle, you might want to do something like use a band to do a Bantu knot out, you might want to try doing a bantu knot out. You might want to try doing twist outs, braid outs, um, putting your hair and braid extensions. All that sort of stuff can really help to disguise a difference in transitioning, hair and also, I just think it it gives such fun hair you don't you don't really need to straighten your hair, so um, you know, for example, you could use a flexi rod. Sexy would make your hair look like they have been curled after a blow-dry, but you haven't actually had to add any Heat, the bigger the flexi world, the bigger the curls and it's amazing, and then you can stretch that out as well. So I mean literally flexi word your hair and you know stretch so once you flexi words, your hair out. You could stretch it in a bun right. I'M then stretching it in a bun elongates, the curls even further, so it looks even more like you have blow-dried it and then curled it with a wand and so there's lots of ways around actually using heat, and I think one of the cutest ways is literally Rocking a twist out or a braid out, I think they're really really cute. So my last tip, I know this might be controversial and some people might not agree with me that it actually works, but it works. Um growth, aids. Okay, now there are lots of companies out there, that might say yeah and use this, and it's going to take you from Balto. You know for head of hair, I'm not saying trust every single, such and out there, but the ones that I have tried and tested grow out oil. I have tried and tested grower oil two and a half of two hundred inches. In eight weeks. I was able to grow, I don't really use, I mean grow. Our oil really for me was not something that I could sustain because of the taxes with them, and also because they change the fall delivery and the delivery was like when I was like $ 35 internationally, because some people were claiming they had received the package and They had they had to do like track delivery and stuff, so the the tax and the delivery just made it like not a sustainable thing for me to use, but I know that there are some sellers in Amazon. It is a bit of a bump, but it's still less than you would pay if you were buying it directly from the long hair. Don'T care. So that's one thing and in fact what I might do is find a link to a seller on Amazon and put it down below so that you can find it easily so grow our oil worked for me. Also MSM, I mean you, don't necessarily have to actually buy oil necessarily MSM with the glass of orange juice in increasing amounts we're starting from an 8 3 teaspoon making sure you stay very well hydrated in the day making sure you read up on any side effects. Make sure that you are comfortable and happy taking it and it will stimulate hair growth. I mean it worked for me. My cousins tried, it is really works for her big time um, so yeah MSM is another one. Hair least often has castor oil and hair growth challenges, so many women, my cousin, include, did um myself included at the beginning of my hair journey. Nice use castor oil to stimulate hair growth, yeah literally putting a small amount in your fingers and sashing it into your scalp and doing that a couple of times a week literally many women have found that that's helped. Of course, everybody's body biochemistry is different. I'M not going to say to you, yes, grow are over 100 percent work for you or ever said 100 percent work for you, but I'm just sharing. What'S worked for me and worked really well for me, so women say biotin helps their hair to grow. I can't say that has been my experience. I tried using biotin a couple of times and I think within three or four days it broke me up quite badly, so I couldn't continue using it um. So some people do say biotin though so peppermint oil. That'S definitely. I mean, if you have any oil, that you apply to your scalp, put peppermint oil in there rosemarie and MSM hello growth. Like I said, the growth stimulant that worked the best for me was grow a little and then followed by MSM in Tanjung in combination with each other. It was fire I mean it was like literally grow oil on crack. I have a video of that. My hair grow and men sleep now when you're buying your MSM, you do not want to buy MSM in the capsular form, which has got bulking agents. The best thing for you to do is to buy a powder I'm going to link below so that you can find MSM powder without a book. So basically, in essence, what you will be doing is taking care of your ends and making sure whatever grows. It stays with you and, and you can just allow your normal growth rate or if you would like express growth, you can use a growth aid such as grow out or your peppermint oil, rosemary oil, NSM and all of the above in tangent, like I say, are Awesome for growing your hair, so I really hope you found this video useful in summary, baby, your ends be gentle with your ends, protect your ends. It'S all about the ends. Moisturizing sealing deep conditioning trim only when necessary and also utilize a growth aid, and you will retain and grow hair. Like I say, my hair length was about here for most of my life and, as you can see, you know it's way beyond that now like from here all the way down to here, which is around my belly button, and that's all I did if I can Grow, my hair trust me. You can too because I was stuck for absolutely years. Oh just be patient, be patient and you will get there. I guess that would be my last tip for growing long, hair. Okay, blessings guys make sure that you subscribe make sure we sums up this video and also keep in touch Kylie Proverbs on Facebook and on Instagram blessings. Atimeforchange: I want to thank you for sharing your information on hair care. I watch many hair gurus and you are the first one that I have seen that uses protein and moisture at the same time. Now if any of the others I watch do it I diidn't understand that during their demos. i suffered a setback about 5 months ago. I did a henna treatment, in which I have been doing henna to cover grey for almost 4 years, I was using a different type of henna that I had been previously using and all I can say is my hair became so tangled that all I could do was cut the tangles out. I believe I had a protein overload. It has taken all these months for my hair to recover. Still the crown of my hair, which is my most sensitive area anyway, is still recovering. I will start doing deep conditioner with each shampoo and I made a tea out of the remainder of that henna. I have gone through one batch of henna tea and doesn't cause any tangles. thanks again for your help. God bless you.

75aichan: you're so right about henna, we use it in morocco and women have long and healthy hair without putting to much product...

Tanya Clarke: In the beginning, you said that you moisturised twice daily but realised it was too much. Did you find that "over moisturising" had negative effects on your hair or was it just a case that the extra moisturising had no added benefit...

Everi Day: You are awesome, I'm learning a lot from you. I am trying to grow my hair about your length. My hair is in the middle of my back. I have one question, how often do you wash and condition your hair?

Like two years ago it stretchy to 18 inches and now it 13 inches but in the shower it is near my waist and just above My belly button. I added fenugreek oil last month. I wished I added fenugreek two years ago.
