Hey y'all welcome back to another video. I feel so strange today, rocking the side part i feel like i haven't had a side part in so long, but i don't know i'm not used to it anymore. I feel, like the middle part suits me best. I don't know, but anyways, that's not what this video is about, so now that it's officially summertime. I wanted to talk about swimming with your locs and different ways that you can protect your hair from the chlorine water and also how you can prevent unraveling as much as you can, if you're interested in that, then just keep on watching this video before we get Into it, though, i just want to remind you all to make sure that you're subscribed to my channel. If you would like to see more videos from me, also don't forget to click on that notification. Bell! That'S right! Next to the subscribe button so that you won't miss whenever i upload videos, i post new videos every single week now that we've gotten all that stuff covered, let's go ahead and move into the tips that i have for y'all. Okay! So now that it is the summer time i've been swimming a total of three times, which is a lot for me. I haven't been swimming in so long. The reason why i never really like to go swimming even before i had locks. I didn't like the stress of wash day after i swim. I don't really go swimming, but this year i am swimming because i have locks now, so i don't have to worry about most of the havoc when it comes to taking care of my hair. After being in the chlorine water, now that that's kind of cut down a lot, because now i have logs that after care with swimming and just wash days in general, has been cut down, more than half swimming with locks is fairly easy. Whether you are just now starting a loc journey or if you have been locked for a while, you know what a lot of tasks are easy everyday life is easier with logs, but that's another story, but we're talking about swimming today. So the first tip that i have for you all is for those of you who have starter locks and you are worried about unraveling. If you are worried about unraveling, i would recommend that you braid your hair up before you get into the water or you might twist your hair up. You know you can do like some cute little mini twists or mini braids. You know just to make a cute little style out of it, while you're outside having fun by the pool or the ocean or whatever you got going on so just like with wash days whenever you twist or braid your hair up, you are compressing your locs together. So you are preventing unnecessary, swelling and unraveling due to your locs being so new and not really formed yet. But if you don't want to braid your hair up or you don't want to twist it up, i would recommend that you put it back into a bun. Now, putting your hair into a bun, i feel like won't be as effective as braiding your hair or twisting it. It'S still better than nothing when it comes to making sure that your hair is all contained so that your hair won't just be loose and just swell up and have a better chance of unraveling say your hair is too short to braid or to twist or to Put into a bun and your locks are still new, maybe consider getting a swimmer's cap so that your hair won't swell up out of control. Okay, so the next tip that i have for y'all is before you get into the water. I would really suggest that you get your hair wet first before you get into the chlorine water. Normally. What i like to do is i'll. Take a water bottle and i'll just pour it all over my head and get it wet before i get into the pool. Doing this kind of gives your hair a fine chance against the chlorine water because you're not submerging your hair into that chlorine water first! So it's not soaking up all of that chlorine. Instead, your hair would have already sucked up that regular water. So your hair won't soak up as much of the chlorine water, which can be very damaging to your locs. I can't stress this enough: do not dive into that chlorine water before getting your hair wet first, but i would recommend this tip for anybody with locs or just a loose natural. When i was a kid and i went swimming sometimes i would make sure my mama would make sure that i got my hair completely submerged into just some regular water first just to prevent that damage, because the chlorine water is not very healthy for our hair. So just make sure that you are creating a buffer between the chlorine, water and your hair by getting your hair wet first with just regular water. After you wet your locs, i would recommend that you use some kind of oil and just coat your locs with that oil. I like to use jojoba oil, because my hair and the hover oil are like this. They just it's a match made in heaven. My hair loves jojoba oil, but whatever oil, that is for you after you wet your hair. I recommend that you just saturate your hair with that oil, because again, i feel like that helps create a certain buffer between your locs and the chlorine water, so that your hair won't just soak up again all that damaging chlorine water. So my last tip would be for, after you get out of the pool, wash your hair immediately right away as fast as you can. So after you leave the pool, i would really recommend that y'all go ahead and wash your hair right then, and right there as soon as you get into the house, do not wait a couple of days say if it's monday and you go swimming and your wash Day is like on thursday: don't wait until thursday to wash your hair? You want to go ahead and wash your hair monday the same day that you got into that water, because you don't want the chlorine and all of its damaging properties to just sit in your locks for days. You want to just go ahead and wash that out. I would recommend using a clarifying shampoo whenever you wash your hair after swimming, just to help with cleaning out all those impurities and everything that you got from the pool other people's germs and stuff, like that, one of my favorite clarifying shampoos is actually by kenra. It'S just the camera clarifying shampoo. I will have it linked down below in the description box for y'all, and i also have the jojoba oil that i use linked down below so that you can check that out. And i will have a swimmer's cap link down below too just in case you're interested in any of that alright. So those are all the tips that i have for swimming with locs. I hope that y'all enjoy, if you have any tips or any knowledge that you want to bless us with in the comments down below. Please do that so that we can all help each other out over here. I'Ll talk to you all in my next video. Thank you so much for watching and i'm out, if you're doing what everyone else is doing, you're doing it wrong. One of the best

Faith Cyrus: You should use a chelating shampoo after swimming in chlorine water/ swimming pools. Chelating shampoos bind to minerals like chlorine and remove them when you rinse your hair out. There’s also sunscreen for hair. Aveda sells one

Ebony W: Your locks are maturing nicely. I love how thick they are and how voluminous your hair is. It is nice to see what I can expect in the future.

afrikurl: Better than a clarifying shampoo, a chelating shampoo binds to the minerals in the water ( like chlorine) The one that you use is good for both clarifying and chelating. Joico K Pak, Neutrogena Anti residue and ORS creamy Aloe shampoo are also good ones.

T.: Loved these tips❤️ I have a question, when you installed your microlocs did you blowout your hair prior to doing so? I’m planning on installing microlocks (using the interlocking method) and I’m wondering if I should blow it out before. What’s your opinion?

Ras the Realtor: FYI the beach salt water helps with the locking process. I combed out my Locs in 12/2019. But they locked completely within 6-9 months, I have curly thick hair

Pamela Felton: I wish I had seen these tips b4 I went swimming last week but THANKFULLY nothing happened. I'm only 6weeks in my microloc journey(10inches in length), I didn't band or add anything. I'm glad I didn't have any problems afterwards. I literally spent 5hr in the pool! But now that I know, I thank you!

Zabbyy: I’m 15 and want to get micro locs I’ve been wanting locs since I was 12 and think it’s finally time I love micro locs but the only problem is that I don’t want to spend more than 200 on my hair a month for just a re-twist if I don’t get micro locs I want locs small enough to still have volume in my hair and I really don’t want to be in a chair for more than 6 hours everything else I’m okay with

Shades of Sage: I’ll say it again, you are GORGEOUS ! I was literally just thinking about this the other day, so this video is right on time! I don’t have locs yet, but I’m hoping to get them soon! Awesome tips! Thank you for sharing ❤️!

Aramis Algood: My friend showed me ur video recently because I did get my hair wet and it’s been two weeks with no wash. It’s also been two months since I started locs. Do you think I can still save them or should I start over?

Emily Smith: How long did it take your hair to lock? Also what hair type did you have prior to locking?

T Coleman: Perfect! Thank you!

Lakeshia Ellis: Love the new content Sunshine

Morgan Kemp: I’ve been waiting on this I’ve been on two trips already but at least I’ll be prepared for my third

Mia Bush: i would love to find someone who is swimming daily with locs my daughter is on the swim team and has sisterlocks, she wears a lycra swim cap underneath her practice cap (i got that off blackkidswim website), we do wet it before she puts on her caps, and her team practices for an hour 4-5 days a week. Her locks look very good, no unraveling, no damage or breaking, we rinse and gently wash, with a leave in spray for locs and air dry, I would never ask her not to swim because of her locs, but wanted to know if there are any tips or is there anyone who is on a swim team with locked hair that i can find on youtube or instagram.

Mary Walls: Great tips

Rebecca Murille: I would recommend you talk about fast hair growth fortified shampoo to double hair growth.

Michelle K: A word of advice: talk about fast hair growth fortified shampoo.

Kellee Brooks: Thank you! Going for a dip now lol

Life With Kosi: Perfect timing, cause we outside & I'm tryna have a hot girl summer! Lol

Zoe Life: locks have swelled out beautifully

Diverse Mountain: I love your outro sis!

The Dream Dosage: You are literally gorgeous

Junior Chaves o Picasso de Yahushua: You are so pretty ❤
