How to prep your braids for swimming and understanding why it is important to protect your hair from the chlorine. My hair, after nearly a month, is still looking presentable and my braids have not fully failed yet, so far this has been working as a protective style!

Hi guys welcome back to my channel. Please hit the subscribe button to join me on my hair journey and more, as you can see today, I'm in my swimming costume and that's because I'm going to prep my hair for swimming I've already been swimming, and this helps my hair a lot. So I'm going to show you what time did just some background knowledge about what the chlorine is used for. It is basically sanitizing swimming pool and to do that, it kills germs the same way. You use the hand sanitizer on your hands, kill germs. It kills. You virgins in the pool, so it's basically a chemical and that chemical can be very, very harmful to your hair, which is why it leaves your hair very dry. The layer that protects your hair usually gets attacked, which ends up, meaning that you do get split ends. As well as your dry, brittle hair, so to protect my hair, I use two products. Firstly, I put on a lot of conditioner. This conditioner is very thick and I literally put a lot as you can see. I put a very, very generous amount on in my hair, as I wanted to stay as protected as possible and it's very moisturizing. This is a intensive treatment by do use as a leave-in conditioner. Simply because, for my hair, it's not thick enough to be a deep condition. I also make sure I get into my scalp as well as you can see here what I do after I put in oil. The oil I used today was coconut oil, as you guys know. By now, this is actually in my favourite oil and I use this oil because it is very hard for chemicals to penetrate through the oil. So this oil acts as a protective layer so that it's hard to go through so the condition underneath will just help and the oil essentially locks in the moisture. Obviously, if you can use a swimming cap that is better but hey, I do not have a swimming cap, see I hate it, and also I can't find one that fit my braids anyway and yes, so this is why I use this method. I'Ve actually already been swimming and, as you can see, my hair is not as frizzy as you'd probably expect, and that's because I put on a lot of product and I also have a maintenance video which I'll link down below which really helps braids. Although you should use this step before swimming, it does not guarantee that chemicals will not steal into your hair, so I highly recommend that you shampoo your hair straight after anyway. Just you know to be on the safe side. This method can also be used on your natural hair, so don't think it's just for brains. Thank you and thank you for watching. My video hope you enjoyed it. Bye,
