3 Messy Bun Top Knots: Using No Bobby Pins | Q'S Hairdos | Tessi'S Hairstyle

Find us on Instagram @teswood (www.instagram.com/teswood) and Facebook Q's Hairdos (www.facebook.com/qshairdos)

These are my go to styles for summer. Since it is literally at least 80 degrees in our house at all times (thanks swamp cooler) my hair rarely stays down all day.

These styles are great because they work well with any thickness of hair. If you have less hair than just fluff and pull at the bun to make it bigger.

This video is 8 minutes long but keep in mind that I do each style twice, so they really only take 1 minute each to do!

The first style is our signature messy bun. I have done a tutorial for this before on myself, but I have changed it up a little bit, so I figured an updated tutorial would be good!

Style 1- Q's Hairdos Signature Messy Bun

I added some dry shampoo before I started this style

Pull all of the hair up until desired height (mine is just about on the top of my head)

Take a thick elastic and wrap it around your ponytail once (or twice if it is still loose)

Put the elastic back in the dominant hand and twist then hold keeping the elastic on your fingers

Now split the ponytail in half

Curl the top half up and hold with your top fingers

Curl the bottom half down and hold with your thumb

Pull the remaining elastic over top of the hair and let go

Adjust the hair until you like the shape and height

Now take the ends on the top and tuck them back into the elastic, do the same on the bottom

Once you have the messy bun looking how you want it, I add clear mascara (which I will link below) to keep my baby hairs in place.

I also like to pull at my hair in the front to loosen it up a bit and pull out some pieces to frame

This makes it look more lived in rather than tight against your head

If you have shorter pieces in the back that fall out like I do, you can twist the hair and then take a bobby pin and push the pin down into the hair to keep it in place.

Style 2- Adapted from Missy Sue (https://www.youtube.com/user/msncook11...)

Pull the hair up onto the top of your head

Take a thick elastic and wrap it around your ponytail once (or twice if it is still loose)

Put the elastic back in the dominant hand and twist then hold keeping the elastic on your fingers

Make sure all five fingers are through the elastic to hold the hair easier for this next part

Fan the hair around the elastic

Now grab the hair with the fingers through the elastic and pull the elastic over the hair keeping a round shape of the hair

Adjust the bun until desired height and shape

Take all of the ends and put them back through the elastic in the front

Adjust the hair and ends until you like it

To finish style 2, I pull at the hair in the front to loosen it up and frame the face as well. Use clear mascara if desired.

Style 3- Twisted Messy Bun

Pull the hair up onto the top of your head

Take a thick elastic and wrap it around your ponytail once (or twice if it is still loose)

Put the elastic back in the dominant hand and twist then hold keeping the elastic on your fingers

Grab the ponytail and twist it until it starts curling around

Wrap it in a donut shape tucking the ends under

Pull the elastic over the hair and secure at the base

Now pull and adjust the hair until desired look

Tuck loose ends in the elastic in the back

Use clear mascara to tame the stray hairs

Loosen the hair in the crown section and frame the face with desired hair.

Hi welcome back to our Channel. It'S just me today and I'm going to show you three of my favorite top knots or messy buns they're, really simple. One of them is my signature. Go-To messy bun and you've probably seen the tutorial before, but I thought I'd show you again and update it a little bit since I've been doing it slightly different in these days before we get started. Don'T forget to give this video a thumbs up if you liked it and also subscribe to our channel, so you don't miss any of our future. Tutorials also follow us over on sir, Graham at test wood or Facebook at Q's hairdos. Let'S get started hi. Let'S get started, I added to dry shampoo before I started this style I'll link, the one that I used below pull all of the hair up until desired height. Mine is just about on the top of my head now take a thick elastic which I'll also link below and wrap it around your ponytail once or twice if it is still loose, put the elastic back in the dominant hand and twist then hold keeping the elastic On your fingers, now split the ponytail in half curl, the top half up and hold with your top fingers curl the bottom half down and hold with your thumb, now pull the remaining elastic over the top of the hair and let it go adjust the hair until You, like the shape and height, now take the ends on the top and tuck them back into the elastic. Do the same on the bottom? Now I'll repeat this process to show you again put the elastic back in the dominant hand and twist then hold keeping the elastic on your fingers. Split the ponytail in half curl the top half up and hold it with your top fingers, curl the bottom half down and hold it with your thumb, pull the remaining elastic over the top now adjust the ends and the top until you like it now, tuck the Ends back in the top and on the bottom as well, once you have the messy bun, looking how you want it, I add clear mascara, which I'll link below to keep my baby hairs in place. I also like to pull up my hair in the front to loosen it up a bit just in the crown section and pull out some pieces around my face to print. This also makes it look more lived-in, rather than tight against your head. If you have shorter pieces in the back that fall out like I do, you can twist the hair and then take a bobby pin and push the pin down and that style number one. Our signature, messy bun for style to pull the hair up into the top of your head, take a thick elastic and wrap it around your ponytail once or twice if it is still late make sure all five fingers are through the elastic to hold the hair easier For this next part fan the hair around the elastic, so spread it around your head until you can grab all of the hair with the fingers through the elastic and pull the elastic over the hair, keeping a round shape of the hair adjust the bun until desired Height and shape and then take all of the ends and put them back through the elastic in the front, adjust the hair and the ends until you have the desired look now I'll show you again pull the hair on to the top of your head. Take a thick elastic and wrap it around. Your ponytail once put all of your fingers through the OS, stick and fanned the hair around the ponytail, pull the elastic across, as you hold the hair in a bun to create a round shape now pull out the bun until you like the size now take all Of the ends and put them back through the elastic in the red adjust the ends and stick them back through until you like them, and you can pull at the top and fluff it as much as you buy finished out. I pull out the hair in the front in the crown section to loosen it up and pull hair out to frame my face as well use clear, mascara if desired, and that style adopted from Missy sue and I will link her blog below for style. 3. A twisted messy bun pull the hair up on top of your head. Take the elastic and wrap it around once now, grab the ponytail and twist it until it starts curling around wrap it in a donut shape, tucking. The ends under now grab the hair and pull the elastic over top securing it at the base now adjust the hair and pull hair out until it's that at the desired height and I'll show you this again take the elastic and wrap it around your ponytail ones. Now twist the ponytail until it starts to curl around and wrap it in the doughnut shape tucking the ends under grab the hair and pull the elastic around securing it at the base now fluff and pull at the bun until you have your desired look tuck any Loose ends or any bubbles into the elastic in the back, use clear, mascara to tame the stray hairs and loosen the hair in the crown section until you have your desired. Look in that style, three all right. I hope that you liked it and I'll see you next time, thanks for watching bye,

Leona Maran: I have pretty thick hair so its hard for me to do a messy bun but when i tried this it worked out soo good

Makayla Decker: On the signature messy bun, if you have thin hair like me, and you can’t make a full second circle with the tips of your hair, try wrapping it around the ponytail holder multiple times, works like a charm

Hina Shehzad: I loved that the video was straight to the point and you explained all styles in such a detailed manner.Subscribed

Myra-Lee: The third one is perfect for my thick hair! I've tried so many messy buns so far, and i've finally found what i was looking for! Thank u so much!

Claudette Novotny: i've had enough hair to do a double bun, but not the knowledge...now i have both! for years i've been using an additional hair piece for the bottom bun, which can be heavy. i'm 70 years old and still learning and loving the new trends. thank you, so much for sharing, without you, i would just be a grandma with a ponytail !!
