The French twist: a beautiful and elegant way to comb your hair for ballet class. But how do you do a French twist? It seems so hard! Don't panic: putting your hair in a French twist is actually easy.

Alessia will show you step by step how to do a simple French twist that will hold solid from your warm-up till your allegro (dedicated to Camilla Mancuso). Thanks to this detailed hair tutorial, I promise you, the French twist will become one of your go-to ballet hairstyles!

Hello In this video, I will show you how to do a French twist.. I always wanted to master the French twist and I've seen many tutorials here and there, but they were always skipping explanations on the most important parts and I always had to try and figure it out by myself.. What I want to do is to show you every single detail in this video. So keep watching, and let's do a French twist together. The first step is to take all of your hair and you pull it back as if you're doing just a regular low ponytail. And I like to use a brush for this process, so that my hair looks neat. And that's where you can use hairspray. If you like., I personally, don't really like to, but some people do., So you keep putting your hair in a low ponytail and once you're happy with how it looks hold it there.. This is a very important part, you're going to take all of your hair and you're going to loop. I'm going to show this again.. This is very important. You'Re going to loop around it, you hold the loop and you start twirling all of your hair vertically up.. So go vertically, up. Hold the loop, it's very important and once you're up there and it's pretty solid, you take your loop away and you start putting all of your hair in a typical French twist shape.. Now, if this doesn't look very neat, it's not important.. We'Re going to focus on that later. Once you're vertically up you loop again with your hand around all of your hair., You keep twirling this last section a little bit and now what you do I'm going to do this slowly so that you can see. Whoop .... Sometimes this happens., You take the loop and you turn it over, so that you can hide all the rest of your hair under your French twist, and this will make it look neat and solid.. You do all of this, while holding the loop on top. Once you've. Hidden, your hair, you can switch hands and from here we can start pinning. Pinning is very important. The way you do it., So I'm going to show you step by step.. You take your pin, I like to start from the bottom and move all the way up from there.. You insert your pin, then you move over and you push it in In out over and you push it in In .... You need to find the right spot. It might take a little while then out over and you push it in. And some pins are harder than others. It'S very normal, but again in out and in again. And from here my french twist is pretty secure. But I'm going to pin the top section just to make sure it will hold up for the allegro. Same strategy in out and over., And we've got the last one In out and over And that's it You've done your French twist. I hope that this tutorial helped. You that you found it useful and let me know how it goes with your French twist

Mary Mote: Thank you for showing the pinning in such detail — in, out, over, and pin. That was an enormous help to me!

DiamondStar2012K: Great demo! I just want to add, if you want to tuck the end hairs that are popping out, use a rat tail comb with the tail side. You can also use the rat tail comb to smooth the hair after the French roll is done. You can even spray a little hair spray on the comb after you smooth out the hair so the hair doesn’t look stiff.

Hannah Skinner: i think I can actually master this now! The hair pin instructions alone just changed my life. I never knew how to use those wide hair pins!

Fiona Fornarina: Hi, your French Twist is very good for short hair like yours. Well done! When you don't make a low, but a high ponytail, you can even skip the step of putting the ends under the twist, because they will hang down naturally and will go into the twist, while you are twirling the hair on the loop right over the ponytail base. Also I would start from above to insert the pins, because up there is the most tension in the updo. Then you don't have to hold tight everything with your hands for such a long time.

Ann Cabras: Thank you’d so much!! I recently cut my hair to about your length and I had no idea of what updos I could make and this tutorial helped me a lot in getting the perfect French twist!
