Asl: How I Flat Twist (Simple)

This video features ASL with an English voice-over. I'm a certified ASL interpreter and lover of all things natural hair related! Noticing a lack of natural hair content in ASL, I decided to make my videos accessible to those using ASL and/or English. Enjoy!!

Hi guys so on one of my other videos, someone left me a comment asking if i wouldn't mind doing a detailed video on how i flat twist. Now honestly, i am not super skilled in this area, but it's just kind of been overtime with practice. I'Ve kind of learned and figured out a way that works for me, so i'll go ahead and show you guys how i do that. As far as how i actually learned to do my flat twists, i followed, along with a video from natural, 85 and i'll, put the title of that one here for you to see. But anyway i followed, along with that i practiced and with time it just kind of got better. So really her video is a really good one and that influenced how i formed my flat twists. So i'll show you what my process looks like, hopefully it'll work for you too. You know something new to try. Maybe it's your first time even starting to practice, doing your flat twists and that kind of thing. So if you already know of another way, that's easier, better or you've seen another video, that's really good and has great explanations. Definitely let me know so i'm going to be flat twisting this medium size, section straight down, take two small locks of hair. To begin with. Twist the two locks one time don't use any of this feed in hair as yet twist the two locks of hair. Again now we're going to start feeding in loose hair, use your thumb and index to pinch the section of feed in hair. I use my other index to help separate that chunk. You can see the chunk that we're gon na feed in add it to the lock of hair already between your thumb and index. Now we're back to having two locks of hair twist the two locks of hair. One time use your thumb and index again to pinch off a new section again, i'm using my index to help separate that chunk. There'S the chunk i'm going to feed in add it to the hair. Already between my thumb and index, we're back to having two locks of hair twist the two locks, one time and now repeat feed in that last chunk of hair and now you're simply going to two strand twist. The rest of the way down do okay, i'll, show you that one more time, but without all of the distracting text do and that's it. So that is my not at all professional way of flat. Twisting thanks for watching
