How you go about not creating steps is making sure that your layering stays seamless and the only way to do that is being at 90 degrees or above. If I bring this hair out here - and I hold it in my hand - and I start to cut right here - some of this section is being layered, but because it's on a round, some of the section is being graduated. What'S going to happen when I blow that dry you're going to see that buildup of weight that buildup of weight can be confused with a step in the haircut, so you want to make sure that you get that seamless feel all the time. Another reason why in school, they're going to say don't cut past your second knuckle right when you're cutting past your second knuckle, you're less aware of what part of the section you're cutting. If I cut more than this much of a section, the head shape is already moving away, so it's a constant curve right and if I'm on a constant curve like this and I'm holding the hair up and I'm cutting past this knuckle now, all this hair is A is a completely different part of the head shape.
