Yes, you saw the title: the thumbnail correctly do not get a perm. The reason i'm telling you not to get a perm is because you probably don't even know, what's happening to your hair when you get one. So what is a perm? A perm is a chemical process right, it's not natural, it's a chemical process that is used, and i actually have the perm rods right here when you use these things right here. These are perm rods, okay and these perm rods. They come in all different sizes like this right. They are put and rolled onto the hair with with end papers, and you know, there's a whole process and what's designed what these are designed to do is to create a curl or a wave pattern on the hair and it's a whole process of applying the the Chemical, the perm solution, uh and then you have to do a neutralizer. You know it's all using chemicals, harsh chemicals on the hair to create a perm right or a wave or whatever it is, and this usually is done on wet hair. But, as you can see into here, what happens is and i'm going to show you a couple, little tricks and things and some suggestions. What happens is that after you put this in the hair right and again, this is on done on dry hair. It'S not going to hold too well. You see that right there, okay, what this does right through here, as you can see, you're taking the hair you're rolling it around here using the chemical solution to lock it in place and then, when you take these perm rods out you're going to have a curl Pattern or a wave pattern in your hair: it's a permanent process. Okay and it does and can dry your hair out. It can cause breakage. I mean there's a number of things that it can do if it's not done properly. If you go to a salon and you go to a professional who knows what they're doing chances are you'll be in okay shape, but what happens is once you have this in your hair? The only way to get rid of it is over time. It may straighten a little bit. You still have some light wave to it, just or you just let it grow out and you cut out all the remaining curl or the perm and then you're left back with your natural hair. So it's grow. It out cut it out or that's it. So a lot of you want to have this. You know tick, tock or hairstyle you're always asking questions. Oh, should i get a perm? What should i do want my hair to flip up my hair lays too flat. I don't know what to do all that stuff. Okay, first of all, you have to break down the haircut and see what kind of haircut do you do? You have the right haircut for this type of hairstyle, so you need to find someone who knows and can tell you if this is the right haircut for you and if you, if you don't have it, then maybe you can get it and use some styling products And then that may be the you know problem solved, but if you do want to have this hairstyle right or you want to have a longer version, something like this: okay, something with some wave and some natural bounce to it, and some texture. This mannequin had straight hair, it didn't have wavy hair, it literally had straight hair and i was able to create this type of wave simply by using my product, tidal wave, but you can also achieve it by using large perm rods. Okay, like this large ones, these smaller these, even these even go down to like pink or even like purple, the smaller or the more narrow the perm rod, the tighter the curl is going to be, and yes, that means your hair. You end up looking like a poodle. It will be so curly and and so like not what you're looking for chances are, you don't want to get it so a lot of times. People end up using like purple right. If you want to have a little bit of a wave or some texture to the hair or if you have longer hair like the mannequin, i just showed you and you want to have some create some wave. Then you would use something like this and that's up to the professional to suggest and use the right size rods based off of what you're looking for now. Here is a trick if you do not want to have a chemical process done to your hair, but you do want to have some sort of perm. Some sort of you know something to your hair. You can do this yourself. I actually have done a video on how to self perm your hair without using any chemical process. You can actually - and i always suggest doing this on a wet hair. You don't have to use the wraps or the end papers or whatever, because you're not using any chemical. Okay, all you need to do is while your hair is wet depending on how you want your style to go, you can actually take the hair and wrap it around like this and bring this all the way down, and then you can. You can uh fasten this? Okay and the curl is going to come more towards the face like this. If you go away from the face, then you're going to get a little more volume and the hair is going to go back and you may be able to get. You know some a better flip, it all depends you can. You can alternate that'll, give you some good texture, but if you're looking to experiment just to see what your hair will look like and to trick everyone, you can do this literally just with water. I even suggest using this and then even my title wave spray. Okay, what i do is, i would spray uh tidal wave on the perm rods to help lock it in and give it some texture now. What do you do? How long do you leave this in? For i would suggest do this at night: okay, wash your hair, do it at nighttime before you go to bed and sleep with these on your hair. I know it's going to sound crazy, but what's going to happen, is it's going to set in place overnight so that you can wake up? Take these out. All you do is take out see this little thing here. All you do. Is it snaps on like this and it's this is an elastic band right here? Okay, take that out, pull the perm rod out. It'S gon na come right out and then you're gon na have wavy hair and it's gon na pretty much be dry. Then you can just kind of toss it a little bit and you're gon na be like oh, my gosh. Now that's not permanent the minute. You wet your hair and wash it or do whatever it's gon na go back to its normal draw like straight state. So i would suggest letting this go for a few days. Don'T wash your hair for two three days. The longer you want this, then you, you, don't wash your hair in that time period. The minute you wet your hair, it's gon na go back to normal okay, but it's something that you could do anytime. You want uh, it's something that is kind of a workaround without having to get it just be careful, and i would suggest going on youtube and watch how to apply a perm, how to actually don't, because it probably made a lot of a lot of videos going Over the the perm solution, the chemical just you can look on uh, look up videos; they had a like how to apply a perm rod or how to use a perm rod or how to roll the hair with a perm rod. Because what happens is you have to be careful with this elastic band? Because if you and the good thing is about it? Yes, it's not permanent, but if you do say, for example, wrap the hair right, you wrap it down like this again. The hair is dry. So it's a little bit harder, you wrap it down and then you go to fasten and secure the perm rod, and then you have this elastic. That'S just laying right on the hair chances are that it could actually create a crease. So you want to bring this down and extend it to the bottom and then there you go and you want to roll it down. So it's basically as close to the scalp as you possibly can and let it dry and then you take these out and then all of a sudden you've got some wave and some curl to your hair without doing any harsh chemicals. It'S it's a great trick. It'S a great way for you to experiment: you can try different perm rods, you don't have to worry about your hair being damaged or you know fried or whatever so give it a shot, but don't get a perm just because people are telling you to get it. You want to get it, you see people on social media getting it just. You have to understand what you're getting yourself involved in. I say experiment first and if you want to get done, go to a professional. So let me know if this video helps use code. Stagnant Fox: Elderly people where I live do temporary perms, as in they get rollers and just roll their hair (wet) and then take it out the next morning. For anyone curious about the science and chemistry of it, here's the facts: The human hair contains 4 chemical bonds 2 of said bonds explain why we can shape hair differently. Hydrogen bonds are weak bonds that break down at the touch of water. This explains how you can shape hair a certain way after getting it wet, once the water evaporates, the hydrogen bonds rebuild themselves and that rebuilding causes your hair to maintain the shape you put them in until they get wet again. That is why using perm rods with just water works if you want a temporary perm. Keep in mind that there's water molecules in the air that touches hair, that's why you can't use just water to create a permanent style. During a chemical perm procedure, we hairdressers use a liquid formula of ammonium thioglycolate which break down Disulfur bonds in the human hair. After we have put the hair in a desired shape, with some time and other factor we rebuild the Disulfur bonds again with a fixing reagent. There is no other way to break down Disulfur bonds without serious chemicals so you dont have to worry about using styling/haircare products on perms.

Mickey Boyy: I have always liked how wavy/curly hair looked on me, I've done rollers before, I curled it with heat everything, and I did this EVERYDAY, so when I didn't do it I felt super uncomfortable. So to combat that I got a perm, and it's been the BEST thing. Literally just do whatever ya want, there will be people who tell ya "get it!" "DONT get it!" It's really just down to whatever ya wanna do and whatever ya see fit :)

William Damm: Getting a perm is by far the worst thing I've ever done to my hair and scalp. So much hair fell out and I (who's always had thick hair) have extremely thin hair as a result of it.

Pasha: I got a perm a few months back. It was the best decision I've ever made (appearance-wise). I had a two-block haircut, and the perm made me look infinitely better. I'm not even sure how it made me look that good, it just did. People thought it was my natural hair lol, it fit that well. It's buzzed now, but I'm certainly going back to it once it's long enough again.

Destiny Boyd: I have never bleached or permed my hair before this point and I had little to no damage to my hair. I now have a perm and my hair is still just as soft and still as healthy as ever with very little damage that isn't noticeable. I understand that not everyone is going to have my experience but for people like me who had little to no damage in the first place, I recommend it

Linda Wilkes: The information you gave was exactly what I needed to hear, as usual you have great timing, am starting to do perms and was confused regarding the band placement on the rods and am glad you addressed how to inquire getting videos on how to roll hair on rods only and not the total process of perms. You are doing a great job with your channel.

RJG: For those that want to understand. A perm uses a reducing agent to reduce disulfide (sulfide-sulfide) bonds in the protein of hair and then uses a oxidizing agent which reforms the disulfide bonds in different locations.

David Turner: I did one yesterday to straight my hair and make it thinner, and I am really happy with it. Instead of have it curly now its wavy and instead of black is dark brown so it makes it look cooler and with way more movement. But yeah, I tried a lot of haircuts in the last 2 years and hated every moment of it, now is the first time I look at my hair and like it.

Daniel posh: If you’re reading this GET THE PERM! It’s the best choice I’ve ever made in the past 3 years. So many girls and guys commenting on my hair. Please seek a professional of course never try doing it yourself.

Ryan Putranto: Personally I got a perm and as a person with more straight hair and wanted a more wavy texture, I recommend it. Yes there are other ways to get waves in your hair, but it may also be quite time consuming and/or not the same result you're looking for. As far as I know, the perm didn't really damage my hair, at least it still feels mostly the same, just a bit more wave to it. Sometimes a bit drier, but that can be fixed with products. Also doesn't cause more breakage/hair fall or whatever.

Jack Steckler: if you can’t get your hair to look good no matter what you try then GET A PERM GO FOR IT you have nothing to lose. i got one and haven’t looked back. 0 problems with hair/scalp damage if you get one just make sure you watch youtube videos on washing/styling curly hair. when i got mine i didn’t realize it’s kind of a process. but so worth it also @thesalonguy, i know you’re just trying to warn people not to damage their hair but not everyone’s hair reacts the same way to harsh chemicals. a lot of people have perms they’re happy with and i feel like this kind of video might discourage people from making a style choice they might really like

R H: When I was seven my mom was in beauty school. I had stick straight hair and we both wanted it curly. Almost every night my mom wrapped my hair in perm rods that I slept in. By the of the day, I the curl was nearly gone. We still laugh about it and wonder why she'd want to do this or why I was OK with it. She's in beauty school and I just get water and rods? Well at least she gave me henna, too!

Swiftyy: i have a perm currently, ive gotten it rerolled 3x on the same set of hair, however ive gotten the ends trimmed after a perm. i use high quality products, shampoo and a masque by matrix aswell as leave in conditioner and curl creams on occasion for styling and detangling. i have pretty semi thick hair, dense enough to fade and look pretty full. if you take good care of your hair, u can maintain the health and look of it well, yes you will maybe go through a slight awkward stage but its not that bad. im feeling this advice is more leaning towards people with long hair, or very long hair. not just perms in general.

MrFangaz: You have no idea how much I needed this video I want to grow out my hair, and make it curly without a long expensive process, the perm rods with tidal wave is genius, thank you so muchhh

johnnn: If you want that short messy hairstyle look just use axe (messy look) paste. It's super cheap and it works. Literally all you have to do is apply a finger tip amount to damp hair and play with it until it's your desired look. Then just let it air dry and it looks a million times better than any perm. Trust me

Hakans: I am super experimental with anything I do. So of course I tried the perm last year and I looked sexy asf. I look kinda mixed race so it just suits me. The hair in my pfp is after I shaved it all off then let it grow out again and as you can see it's still healthy. Imma get the perm again soon. If you want it just get it don't think about it too much

Jae Swag: I think the title is a bit going overboard lol. Getting a perm is okay as long as you are not getting it too much and using healing products. Also, if someone wants a permanent perm for a while the self-water perm you showed us will be very annoying to do every day or two days lol. There is no way I could do that. I would just get frustrated and get an actual perm done. Yes the method you showed us may be suitable for people who just want to see what they would/could look like with a perm but def not an alternative for a perm.

Noel Naumann: I have A LOT of thick amazing hair. During covid I got bored and asked my stylist for a perm. It completely fucked my hair. 2 years later, I kind of recovered but sometimes I still feel like my hair is not the same anymore

Ang: I got a perm and it started my journey on 1. Finally fixing my horrid haircut and 2. Realizing I actually had wavy hair (when I grew my hair out) jsut didn’t know how to take care of it so I just thought it was frizzy (I wish I didn’t get perm tho bc it messed my hair up completely as opposed to natural hair)

LOOPED1HR: I had thick hair and wanted to get a perm because i looked like a nerd in high school and then i got it amd i got popular asf and all the ladies and then every time i showered and used a perm brush (spaced put brushes) so many hair used to fall out every single time i showered but i didnt care. Then idk why i went bald for a buzzcut but it was the wrong decision and my hair has grown back now and im gonna get it again even though my hair will start fallin but it was a good idea and for the looks it looked good so im gonna be getting it soon

thegreenmanofnorwich: I always think that anything that permanently alters the texture of the hair is either best done by a professional, or even better, not done at all. Personally, I think wet sets, foam rollers, hot rollers, or curling irons are all better options.

I wish to stay anonymous: Coming of a perm streak recently after like 8 months of doing it. Unfortunately or fortunately I have really really thick hair so, and I take good care of it, did my research before hand. Went for the middle part style recently. Really enjoying it but had to get my hair layered cause there was jsut to much of it lol

d’angelo: I recommend getting a looser perm if you ever decide to perm you're hair, having a tight perm causes more hair to fall out (coming from a perm head)

Ansh Patel: I love the video consultations. It’s helpful for a lot of people

Jenna Vallee: I wish I saw this video before getting my perm at the beginning of August. I didn’t like how my hair looked down as it looked fine and my hair is naturally slightly wavy and very frizzy. I wanted to get a perm so I could have more volume but unfortunately it’s done the opposite. Since the perm my hair has become extremely dry (still dry 4-5 days after washing - before perm I used to need to wash it every second day),I’m not able to comb it unless I’m in the shower with conditioner in it as it would get very frizzy if I combed it dry, and so so so much has fallen out. I won’t get a perm again and I’m hoping my hair will get its moisture back as it grows out and I trim off the perm. I’m hoping this info helps if you are thinking of getting a perm. Unfortunately I learnt the hard way

Danne Fagan: The only reason I’m getting a perm is because l curl my hair with a curling iron in the morning but it takes to long so a perm would cut my time down by a lot

SOl Ge: Hi , great Video ! Does th is apply for perms that are used to straigh the hair aswell ? I got pretty thick and curly hair and i had trouble styling them since always. I tried a straightening perm before 2 months and i really like how my hair looks now and how much easier it is to style them.

Maz2halal: Does anybody have any products suggestion for thick wavy hair. My pair is usually straight when it’s short. Over the time, when I grow it usually gets wavy and textured. I was just wondering if anybody had any products that’ll define more wavy hair without any hair damage or hair losses?

xavior B: I got a perm once, before I had perm my hair was very straight and I couldn't style it the way I wanted. Now that I cut off my hair I have straight hair, but I can some how style it the way I want

xMeowPvP: hey, thank you for this video i was just thinking about getting a perm, i have a long straight thick hair and it has no volume so i was thinking about getting a perm with some large perm rods so it gets more volume. will my hair get damaged? if yes i can always just cut it all and then it will eventually grow back to looking like before? or is it permanent damage?

Sub2Domus: I say just embrace your texture. You are amazing the way you are and if you want to do a certain haircut, make sure you're doing it out of desire and NOT impulse.

Shba Dhhshsh: I’ve been getting a perm for years and years and honestly I have the thickest hair and full hairline

ClutchGamer: quick question about your 25 spray, is it unnecessary to use a hair oil with the 25 spray when airdrying the hair or will it make it softer

bigboi: Okay, this is great l, but I’ve tried to get that beach hair wavy look loads of times, and like as soon as I step outside, or gradually throughout the day my hair just straightens out, I want it to last at least a couple of days, so how do I do that?

Nex: My perm has grown out and is straight underneath but it’s really thin and nowhere close to as thick as it was before and I’m not sure what to do.

Wonder McThunder: I have thick wavy hair. I got a perm back in 2018. Luckily I have really thick hair I ended up shaving my head a year later and going back to my old hair.

Mæbd: Hey! Im looking forward to buying a perm rod. I want to get wavy hair like that mannequin, what's the size of the perm rollers needed?

Pozskii: I saw a video of the glam hairstyle you posted on you channel from two years ago. I was wondering if I could still get that haircut with an undercut. I currently have a man bun with an undercut and my hair goes down to my mid back and I’m wondering if I could still get that glam hair or if I have to grow out the undercut before I get that type of haircut.

Chase 10: The timing, I was just planning to get a perm this week because it’s trendy but I didn’t realize all this

samuel marez: I already have thinish and strait hair, but I want curly/wavy hair but I think I still need to grow it out. Should I get a perm or something else?

UKZone Tube: i had a perm and my hair actually stopped falling out somehow its weird

TwoPotted: My Barbers keep messing up and keeping it too short no matter how many times i tell them or show them an image of a specific picture but i am too scared to go to a new barber

Braden Lafler: What do I ask my barber for that kind of hairstyle? Right now im thinking of asking for scissor length in the sides and back and semi long on top around 4-6 inches.

Contagious Acid: Personally I needed one I was ugly as fuck with my straight hair but i respect the video.

chickenboy10: but what else can i do to make my straight asian hair wavy, sea salt etc all doesnt work because its so straight and thick

WoOdY_FrOmDa6iX: im 5 sec in i paused the video i have never seen this guy or any of his videos its my first time seeing him and i can instantly tell that's a tattoo not his hair if im wrong then i apologize but im 90% confident its a tattoo

Leela Gupta: Perms are still a thing?? (Fortunately, I was young when I got that. My hair has had plenty of time to recover.)

Stefano Fiorentini: Is it ok to get a perma while using minoxidil 5%?

Rixipyle: Why not just use hot rollers? A lot faster/no overnight.

THE-X-TARGET: Thanks for the advice, i was about to do it.

Bendy: I have natural curly hair, and idk if a perm is curly on the top and shaved sides and back, or whatever it is. I got natural curly hair at the top, and shaved sides. Is that bad or nah?

William Charles: People would come in, and do that when I was in beauty school. It was called a " rod set"

Cole Chandler: I got a perm because my hair was super straight and I wanted to dry it out so it would be easier to do the tik toker hair style

Adrian Vargas: So glad my hair is naturally curly and i have very thick hair last week my barber said that my hair is really thick and that her hand was hurting lol. I love my hair so much

Lucas Davis: What happens if you perm your hair but roll the rod upwards in the front ?

Mike Shipula: Had a perm and had to wait it out for a year but it caused a cowlic tho

Niks Balmaks: me having a perm cause I don’t like my straight hair ‍♂️

Sean Ngyuen: When you got a perm because you watched another Salon Guy video on perms…and this video comes out…

scarlet: I got 2 perms from my mums cousin who is a hair dresser. One in like 2017 and one in 2019, I really regret it

BlvrStrange: i was thinking of getting a perm a few years ago and im glad i didnt

M4RK YT: I already got one twice and it was good

Tuplicate: So what are the downsides to getting a perm? I’ve gotten 2 so far

Decan _: if i get big rods while having naturally curly hair can i losen my curls so they aren’t as tight and aren’t puffy and more flat?

Daniel Pilkinton: To Salon Guy: Please do a 360 with pauses more often in your videos so that people can take photos of the hairstyles you are doing these videos on like the "tiktoker hairstyle"

Matthew Hernandez: Thank you salon guy you the goat

Gregg Chaffin: If you want a perm, get a perm. Life is too short to not try out new styles. It's hair.... it'll grow back.

Daniel Basini: I cant use any hair products for some off reason they literally all give me acne and i have pin straight her, should i get a perm?

Akashi Seijuro: Me who naturally have wavy hair

FloodWyd: How do I get the type of hair that the long black haired mannequin had?

achitoachitolove: i have natural hair that look like perm, ppl always think i do the perm

Rojcou z: the 2nd model you showed with black hair i want this haricut so bad everytime i go to an hairdresser he fucks it up never ever have i found someone who did it like this T.T

Fcb Baller10: Remember when having a perm always take care of your hair if you don’t you will get dead dry hair and allot of dandruff and your hair will be thinner what people say in the comments.

Many words to describe me: Keratin is no better. So many false claims. My curls never come back. So, I’m going to do a reverse “cold” perm, instead.

Dillon Plemmons: its been almost a year since i got one do you think my hair is healthy now?

Jenni G: lately I’ve seen guys and younger boys getting perm because they want to look like their favorite celebrities. I dont know if the 80s look coming back or they want to look like Bad bunny ( reggaeton artist). I saw them use spiral or the medusa rods.

Wonder McThunder: It’s to late these young highschool boys are getting perms back to back

Noah Quicksell: what do you do when your hair goes straight when it gets wet

YemenBoiii: Stephen/Steven (sorry idk how to spell your name) I have a question does your hair texture/straight/wavy/curly depends on where the root of your hair is? Please answer because I really need know Everytime I see someone with soft and silky hair the root of their hair is always on the middle ( mine is on the right) So that makes me think does your hair texture depends on where the root of the hair is?

Zk Motivation: To the beautiful soul reading this: You are valued. You are loved. You are so, so worthy

Based and Epic MRSA: Usually I'm a fan of your videos, but I didnt really like this one. The title is just misleading. Your reasoning for not getting a perm is because the chemicals are harsh. Yeah, it's supposed to be harsh to break your hairs' bonds in order to allow for curls. Damage is inevitable. I was expecting solid reasoning to not get a perm such as permanent hair loss or cancer or something lol. If anyone wants a TLDW: Perms use harsh chemicals. It's OK to get a perm if it's done by a pro.

Slaant: Most things are chemical processes, and we put harsh chemicals in our hair all the time; there's detergent in most shampoos.

Knytz: Not taking advice by someone without hair. (It's a joke)

Colton T: When y’all dye your hair it’s worse than a perm

nestor ibañez: He does Cobra Kai's Robby Keene haircut from season 4, which looks like it is at the prom. AND PUT SUBTITLES ON THE VIDEO WHEN YOU DO IT PLEASE BECAUSE IN THE OTHER VIDEO OF THE ROBBY CUT FROM SEASON 3 THAT YOU DID ONLY THERE ARE SUBTITLES IN JAPANESE AND NOT IN SPANISH

Ameenuddin Syed: Amazing the guys said don’t get perm and he doesn’t have hair

Andrew Barron: Hey can you do a video on how to style your hair like charles leclerc or do you have any tips on how to do it thanks

mohammed: idk why im watching this my hair is already naturally p wavy

Yoshikage Kira: What if my hair is naturally curly?

Fit Senpai: Me who has naturally wavy hair : Ok

Jesus o: im getting a perm at home tomorrow and this video is lowkey making me not want too hahah

Joel Yaw: I legit just got a perm 2 days ago and now this videos has been recommended to me

RaunterTheSlime: imagine looking for speedcubing algorithms just to see something that isnt close to cubing

Goltack: I have curly hair and I want the opposite bruh

Trim: Anyone suggest me a good hair product for my thick wavy DRY hair..i dont want to damage my hair using bad products so suggest me one

Joshua Simpson: Shall we all just go bald then yeah?

Joshua Mcgechie: coming from a guy with no hair

Wild🌴: It’s always the bald guys that do stuff like this

Grand Grand: Im an avarage asian and got thin straight hair. Any chance to make my hair more wavy?

Jessika entwistle: Good advice.

Hinemaia Nikora: no way am I trusting a bald man
