Or perhaps you want a texture that is lower maintenance and you believe having a looser texture will help. Or maybe you've been natural for 5 plus years and you are looking for a change and think a relaxer or texturize might be nice. Take me advice in this video and don't do it sis.

If still want to texturize, listen to my advice in this video on how to avoid the mistake I made when i texturized my natural hair:

Girl I'll see you uh-huh you creeping down that aisle. You got your basket in hand you're. Looking over your shoulder, you're, hoping that nobody notices you. Yes, I see you put that texturizer in that basket. I know because I've been there, so I'm gon na give you in this video five reasons not to texturize your hair, and I think some of the reasons you might be surprised, I know cuz, I do it, it's actually higher maintenance. Yes, you heard me right: texturize hair for me was a lot more higher maintenance than my natural hair. Why? Because my hair was actually a lot weaker. I was constantly babying my hair, trying to fluff it up trying natural hair style. That didn't really look the same. I literally had to kind of I had to baby my hair, really I'm constantly nursing the new growth and preparation to texturize. Again it was just a hot mess. You guys, I just felt like it's so much more low, lower maintenance, taking care of my natural hair. Absolutely hands-down no questions asked. I want you guys to put your Instagram handles inside the comments for anyone who's watching this who's thinking about texturizing, because I know my natural hair gang is also watching. This put your handles. If you like to do little tutorials on Instagram or you talk about natural type, 4 hair just to give these people with some encouragement, I want you guys to share so that I can come and check you out as well. Number four, the risk of over processing. Your hair is actually a lot higher when you're texturizing. Why? You might ask well I'll tell you. The reason is is because, for a lot of us, when we're going to texturize our hair, we're just trying to loosen it up just a little bit, so the separation between the texturize hair and the natural hair is not as clear. Not only can it be inconsistent, it's just the risk of overlapping, it's a lot higher, which then will lead to breakage, which is actually the opposite of what we actually want right. So yeah, it's just over processing the hair, especially you're, doing it yourself here on YouTube. That'S probably why you're here, it's so much higher number three you're, not gon na get the texture that you want if you're watching this you're, probably a type 4 hair and you're. Looking at all these people, who have touched your eyes, who have different textures of hair than you and they're, turning out with these loose curls and they're they're whipping their comb through their hair and you're like this you're, probably not gon na get curly hair. In fact, if your hair doesn't have a curl pattern, it's impossible for you to get a curly hair. It'S just gon na take the pattern that you have and elongate that pattern. So the results are gon na vary so much, and I wish that I could promise you that you're gon na get something that you're not, but for a lot of people. It does not turn out that way. Number two. It dries out your hair over time. If you think about the chemical bonds of your hair, when you're using a texturizer or a relaxer, it's actually breaking down the bond, which means that your hair will become more porous, it's great because sometimes you're able to let more moisture in. But that also means that more moisture can leave the strand of the hair. That is what happened to me. It doesn't happen everyone, but a lot of people and from the research that I've seen their hair does get drier over time. So when I first texturize my hair, I thought it was cool. I was like, I think my hair is good. It feels moisturized, it's a lot more shiny, but then over time it just got drier and drier and drier, and it was it honestly was a nightmare to detangle. So I was trying to get rid. I was trying to get away from detangling my natural hair. Only to detangle my texturize hair - and it was just a mess number one. Wigs and weaves are an option. Locks are also an option. I remember I made this video back so that I'm just tired of my natural hair, and so many of you are why we're writing like in the comments I mean. That'S probably one of my most commented videos. People agree with me and people just saying: hey, like try, locs, try, wigs, try ways and at the time I was just thinking like I just want. I just didn't feel like detangling, my hair anymore. So I understand how you feel, however, now that I'm on the other side of things, I kind of wish that I would have just did a long term. Protective style got me some braids or just kept wearing wigs over and over again. That'S what I do now when I get tired, I'm not exempt. I sometimes get tired my hair. Sometimes I just want to live my life and not worry about the shrinkage. I get it. Sis I'd get it, but let me tell you if you will know if it's just a phase, if you just go through like three to six months of protective styling, your hair, I think for most of us and we start missing our hair again, so give it A try and bonus number six remember why you went natural, and I say this because I'm speaking to myself my former self, I wish I would have said this. Just remember why you went natural, don't forget about the burns, don't forget about the scrapes. Don'T forget about the over-processing and the breakage, and just the agonizing time of like waiting the six to eight weeks with the new growth. But just remember that I think sometimes, when we've been natural for a while, we sort of forget just like being in a bad relationship. We only want to think about the good times and not the bad times girl sis think about think about. When you was in that chair it, you need to go wash your hair cuz, your scalp was burning and you had the scabs think about that. Like remember why you went natural, remember how beautiful you look when you the mirror and you're able to accept yourself for the way that you are. If there were no wigs, if there are no relaxers, if there are no texturizers, when I look in the mirror and love Who I am and I'm like, wow like, I am actually dying to a place who are actually like myself without all of that stuff. Don'T throw that away? Let'S get this conversation started if you are going to texturize, go ahead and put in why, if you're gon na stay natural go ahead and put in, why down in the comments down below now, if you watch this video and you're, like least watch my video, that's Entitled the mistakes that I made texturising my hair, don't make the mistakes that I made if you're going to go ahead and do it I'm not judging you, I'm just saying, use precaution. Okay, the video is here, click it now watch it avoid my mistakes. Why? I love you see you next, video

Jenna Smith: I’m honestly so disappointed. I finally wanted to nice curly hair and my natural 4c hair is too much to handle and expensive to maintain. I don’t like the texture of my hair, and I get tired of weave. I don’t even know what to do anymore.

LaToya Ebony Hair: I think we’re all past shaming black women for their hair choices. It’s not always about “hating yourself” or “low self-esteem”. When I texturized my hair, I had SO many questions and I didn’t feel like I found the right answers. I made A LOT of mistakes with my hair, but this was the absolute worst. I CRIED ALL NIGHT to my husband, but you wouldn’t know because I showed up on camera the next week all smiles and sticking to the facts. The the REAL fact was, I ruined my hair. ‍♀️ I think especially in light of all the suffering happening in the world, we should be kind to each other. Black hair is BEAUTIFUL in all of its textures. #teamnatural offer encouragement and insight about your own experiences.

shyneice mayeux: I just did a texturizer while watching this video and I love my results my hair is still super curly. The trick is to only leave it on for 5 mins. I used the scurl texturizer and then the scurl curl activator after wash and conditioner . My hair is moisturized and has lots of movement . I loved my natural natural hair but it just wasn't for me so I wanted to keep my curls but a bit more easy to manage .now water and curly cream /gel is all i need to have a good hair day ❤

Ana D: It’s so refreshing to have a YouTuber tell the truth doing something to their hair that they regret instead of the famous “it’s my hair” cop out. You’ve always kept it real about your hair. When things work and when they don’t you’ve always been YOU and that’s ah-maz-ing.

Maxine Taut: Been texturizing my hair for 6 years now and I love it. I always get it professionally done. My natural hair is verrrrrrrrrrry thick and curly I have terrible migraines when I'm all natural that's why I texturize!

Cactus Flower: I love when you said “remember why you went natural” that’s a very important thing to remember before taking drastic measures, because when I went natural I felt free—- I felt I was being my authentic self and when I had a relaxer my hair fell out and it was falling out on the day of graduation college (luckily for me I found a way to style it to mask the hair fall so I could walk the stage that afternoon). My natural hair is cheaper to maintain than when I had a relaxer because I was buying relaxers and wigs every 4 to six weeks and buying products for it that costs more than a jar of hair grease. My natural hair is 18 inches long and I do simple things to maintain growth and length. I also have 4c/4d and my hair is course but also have fine strands. If I can be natural for 3 years and only spend $85 a year on hair products other people can too!

Candice Jackson: Everyone and their hair is different. Different things work for different people. There is no one path to healthy hair. All healthy hair is great hair to me. Regardless of what's been done to it. Find your own path ladies ❤

Sabrina Willson: I have texturized my hair 3 times and it was ok .. I didn’t do it for curls . I didn’t get any .. but I mix my texturizer with conditioner to reduce the over processing.. my hair was very difficult to comb.. my hair is very thick and long .. so the texturizer helped a lot.. you never apply the texturizer directly always add a conditioner

A. Marie Dixon-Jenkins: During my 2+ years transitioning to natural hair, I had my hair texturized twice (at month 3 and month 6). Both times my hair stylist did it, the 1st time it went well, no issues. The 2nd time she was overbooked and left the texturizer in too long. My hair was totally straight, so my journey to natural hair had to begin again. No more chemicals for me, I learned my lesson.

Bayougurl: I texturized mine in December and I don’t regret it at all . It’s something that I had been wanting to do , so I just did it . Now will I do it again that’s a definite no for me . I didn’t leave it in long so it just slightly loosened my curls .

Josette: This video really helped me! Especially the part where we forget what our relaxed hair experience was really like. How we tend to forget the bad like weaker more fragile strands and remember the good like less detangling time. Thanks!! This helped convince me not to go back to relaxed or texturized!

KittyKatMeow30: Today was my first time I've ever texturizer my hair. It made it looser, waaaaay looser . I like it and its A TON EASIER RO MANAGE. My hair gets extremely tangled easily, I just want to wear my hair and afro without putting anything on it no scar, no headband not nothing. Putting curly pudding on and go. I will watch a difference in the weeks to come. All I want is to see the curl pattern not pubic hair curl pattern. Because of so much shrinkage. ‍♀️‍♀️

radlegend: Girl girl girl!! I hated how bone-straight the salon would make my hair, so I started relaxing myself but not leaving it in the entire time (essentially texlaxing my own hair). And I have to echo what you said, "texture is never the same each time you do it." Not only that, but even though I have 4c hair, my strands are really fine and my hair would always end up sticking to my scalp with no volume. My hair then would start breaking off along the strand where texture wasn't consistent and each time I did a big chop I'd swear ever to do it again. It's 6 years natural and counting, but I still have to fight the urge to "straighten it a bit" coz shrinkage is real yall and who doesn't want long flowing hair sometimes. Thanks for reminding me why I went natural - and why I should stay like this. My hair doesn't like chemicals, it doesnt even like hair color, and it def wants to be left alone most of the time.

SimplyNaturalCai: Though I’m not 4c I’m staying natural. It was such a loooong process to find what worked for my hair because I was constantly trying what worked for others. Once I found what worked for me styling time was shorter and my hair became healthier!

Cosmic Bliss99: I so appreciate this sis. Thank you for being honest, kind, non judgmental while delivering this message. It’s definitely helpful that you spoke from your experience

MsDanDiamond♡: I texturize my hair a year ago and it helped grew my hair I also used protein treatments for my hair as well as protective styles. I haven't texturize my hair within a couple months it's still easy to manage for me. I guess the same way how texturizer isn't for everyone the same goes for relaxed, texlaxed and natural hair as well

Culturedbelle: I just did it and I went from 4c to 3c, the back is mainly 4a and kinda looks like loose finger coils though. everyone is different I guess. But I now have a looser curly hair texture and it looks great, I will Keep doing texturized treatments from now on. It also didn’t burn, itch or stink but maybe it was the brand I used. It

bkjane: If only there was a video like this a year ago. After texturizing I experienced the dryness, the extra maintenance, the breakage, loss of length . Texturizing really set back the progress I made with my hair journey.

EverythingNaturalHair: I was gonna texturize my hair for the first time, but after watching this video its dedinitely a No No for me now. Thanks for this video

Cimone Jones: The last part resonated w/ me!! I had a good relationship with a relaxer. I had been getting them since I was like 2 and by the time I reached 22, my hair swept past my butt and was thick and strong. Everyone loved my hair. But, I had questions. I wanted to know what I looked like w/o a relaxer so I decided to big chop after transitioning for like 3 weeks (I couldn’t do two different hair textures lol), would it grow back stronger and longer??? Nearly a year in, I haven’t gotten all the answers but I’m invested in learning how to do my hair and love my curls so I’ll stay natural.

Currin Jouree': This was such a great video thank you so much for posting I was about to cave after 3 years of being natural! We have to learn to love ourselves how we were made and this video reminded me of that

t23: I was on the fence about wanting to texturize my hair but I think God lead me to your video to remind me that I better stay natural, thank you!

Savon Matjane: i have 4c hair. i found this video while i was thirsting over texurizer transformation videos online and considering whether it was the path for me. thanks for saving me

Life with Paulette: So true! You hit it on the nail sis! I’ve been natural since 2011 5 big chops later I finally get it! Wigs are my best friend and easy protective style that works for me.

Veronica Mcleod: Thank you so much for this!! I was really thinking about doing this for my daughter. Her friends all have a loose curl pattern or get relaxers and at her age she is struggling with loving her hair. I understand because I went through the same thing and my mom relaxed my hair. I stopped relaxing mine for various reasons and when she gets to the age where she can decide for herself then it will be her decision. I wouldn't forgive myself for damaging her hair so she can fit in. Thanks sis!!❤️

Kimberly K: I’ve been natural for 7 years now and my hair is just SO THICK and it’s 4c and I just get SO FRUSTRATED sometimes but you saying what you said about remembering what it felt like to have that perm in my head really resonated with me sis..you right I’m just gonna go install a curly wig

JANINE DENNIS: I'm so happy I found this video, I'm at a crossroad with my natural hair. I did a big chop because my hair broke badly. I assumed I would be able to manage my 4b/4c hair, but I was so wrong. It's expensive and very time consuming to manage my hair. I can't wait for my hair to grow a little bit longer. What did you use too keep your hair soft, right now I'm dying and I need help

Encouraging the Masses: Thank you for the talk! I was on the verge of texturizing my hair yet again because I feel so over using all these products and not having my hair be good looking with little effort. #Ohthechallengesofhavingnatural4Chair

1ladymo1: You just convinced me. I've been wearing crochet braids for 3 months and now I miss styling my own hair but this 4C life can be tough. Not that I want flowing curls...I just want more manageability and moisturized hair. Anyway, you convinced me to give myself a lil more time. P.S. I'm not going natural for any specific reason. I just want longer, thicker hair and relaxers will never give me that so I'm experimenting. Thanks for the advice.

SoStasea: I agree with all of this <3 I use the PhytoRelaxer level 1 and LOVE it!! It's a totally different chemical - and no burns!! I have scalp dermititus as well and it didn't inflame it at all. My hair is chemically altered but really strong and 1000% easier to manage and I still have lots of texture and curls and can wear my fro big and bold. It took a while to get used to my new texture and its needs but I love it. My mom loved it so much I put it on her hair too. She is 80 and had a really hard time detangling her back length 4a/4b grey hair. Also converted 2 bff's :) Just an option for those a their wits end and looking for a less caustic alternative.

Kelly A: Great video! I'm glad you put the option of locs. I was natural for 6 years and got tired of doing my hair. I got sisterlocks in July and I fell back in love with my hair! I now spend 5 minutes a day doing my hair! Thanks again, great video!

Simone Brown: Great video Latoya I was natural for 2 years, then relaxed....and immediately afterwards I was overcome with regret. Never again.

Kersha Martin: I was about to texturize my hair. Just tired of tight 4c curly hair. Thank you. I won't do it. I remember the breakage and thinning.

Owa. A: This video made my day❤️ Until recently, my mum has been constantly texturing my hair from a very young age and now I’m fully natural. Ur videos really help cus I’ve been kinda lost as to what to do with my natural hair, soo ty❤️ Also yes!!! No more burns, scabs or breakage

Eve Sambaya: The last point made me change my mind. I was about to texturize my hair next week. Am glad I watch this video. Thank you @LaToya Ebony

Alien Township: Thank you so much for sharing these points!! Texturized my hair a month ago. I did it because my crown has breakage and more shrinkage than everywhere else, so I wanted to loosen everything up…big mistake. My hair’s natural curl pattern is like a coily phone cord. After texturing, it became wavy and straight in some areas. I kinda felt like crying & regretted it. But also, part of me now feels like I have a good reason to it off and start fresh lol. Cutting it would solve the uneven crown length issue and texturized hair all at once.

Kuroe-Chan: Thank you! You saved me from the edge! I was sitting here about to attempt the texlax. You hair is just like mine but so much longer! I have very vague curl pattern at the front and it might not come out right lol. I wore wigs religiously for like 8 yrs and I hated it because no matter what I did or practice I couldn’t get the wigs to look or feel as natural as I want. Finally I learned to crochet and it’s a god send. BUT I can’t we’re them longer than like 2 weeks or so which I start manipulation too much and defeat the purpose. UghI’m so defeated! I still want to texlax because I just want to wear my hair out but I feel it’s not a good idea....sorry so long

5: I absolutely love my type 4 hair. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I had a nightmare that I got a perm and I woke up crying thinking why did I do it. So happy when I figured it was all a Dream.

Tessa Smith: I Texturized my 4c (or if there is such thing as 4d) hair bc I was tired of the thickness and dryness. But I am so glad I did..I used Texture My Way and I like it bc I now have more length. I only did my roots as I have shoulder length hair and I did NOT over process...all I wanted was to losen it up. My natural roots are very very dense, and my back is short and super dry. I wanted length so badly. Watching your video, your hair looks great bc it is longer just how mine is now after I texturized my roots. I have been natural for about 3 years and I had permed hair all my life prior. I live in a climate that frizzes and shrinks our hair a lot more than the US climate so many products don't do the job of defining curl pattern and showing off length. I would wet my hair and gel it doing the shingling method, section by section just to get it to look curly and moisturized. After an hour it's back to a round fro! SO I keep running to braids and crochet styles.

Blue Skies: I loved this video. I'm 4b/4c and have been seriously thinking about getting a texturizer because it takes so long to detangle my hair and it's so hard to manage on the summer time. However, I don't want to make matters worse for myself. I do love my type 4 hair but I sure wish I could manage it much easier ‍♀️. Thanks for being transparent about your texturizer journey.

Baking Cutie: I’ve been natural for about eight years and have no desire to texturize. I went natural to encourage my daughter to love herself/ her hair. And my hair is naturally on the thinner side and being natural gives me the volume that I need.

Jadie Wadie: I love my natural hair but I was definitely thinking of texturizing it because I don’t know I wanted that loose curl look I’m 4b though and I have a curl pattern already but my hair shrinks up when I define the curls I don’t want short curl I want my hair to stay the same length while I define it ‍♂️‍♂️ Idk I just want something to weight my hair down ‍♂️ so my curls can be like the same length it is when I blow it out but other than that my hair is easy to detangle and easy to manage it just shrinks to much...

Natasha Aveda: I love my thick defined 4a hair, specially when I see white women, I throw that, “ I’m natural weave free!” I use Etae natural honey deep conditioner and will never put the chemicals in my hair Thank you for your truth, it serves as a reality check for REAL!!!♥️

Meg: I’m 4c. Natural since birth and decided to texturize. My texturized hair is lower maintenance I got my desired texture Protective styles are very important! A protein potent/ moisturizing hair maintenance schedule is very important! Btw, my hair is now longer than in my profile pic. About mid back. So Tex lax does work well for some people!

BIG 2x: Great video!!but for y’all that seem discouraged, it depends on which texturizer you use, from what I’m seeing the texturizer she used made her hair flat almost looks like a relaxer, I had 4b/4a hair and 4c around the perimeter of my head. I used a blue container of texturizer called s-curl (the regular strength one) and I applied it and left it for about 10 minutes and now my hair is 3c-4a and the parts that were 4c stayed 4c but are a lot softer and manageable now so I still got curls and coils (an Afro overall) it’s just looser and softer now and I couldn’t be happier, so texturizers were a good experience for me, you just have to do your research and find the product that will work best for you

joshua hubbell: Needed this rn ❤️ so tired of detangling but never the less I will stay natural.

Paradox : So interestingly enough about 10 years ago I used to texturize my hair with TCB relaxer. The results were impeccable. But I tried a texturizer a couple of months ago and I do not like the way my hair came out

KlaKe09: I texturizer my hair and thought that it was gonna be littttt. I love that my hair isn’t as tight as it used to be and how the maintenance is now, but the only downside is that I found out I don’t have a defined curl pattern at all lmfao.

LeahBandB: All it took was me massively underprocessing one section of my hair back when I self-relaxed for me to realize texturizing is NOT for me. It was the worst of both worlds - dry, fragile, uncooperative. Nope. I'll pass.

Naa-Ashokor Ollennu: I went thru this when I texturized my hair!!! It’s soooooo much more work and you WILL have to cut it eventually PERIOD

Vivian Onyeka: 100% ON.POINT. Excellent, practical advice. Thanks for not going down the "because you are a black queen African woman etc bs etc" like black queens can't get tired of doing their hair too.

Osa: I wish I found this video wayyy earlier! My hair began shedding unnecessarily and it made me so upset, I woke up two days ago and chopped it all off again after 6 years and I love it. Not planning to grow my hair out for at least a year. I need a breather from this whole hair growth journey.

Gail Whitted: Glad I watched your video since i was seriously considering texturizing my hair. It's about 3in, growing out from a much shorter cut and shrinks a lot. Trying to be patient waiting for it to get long enough to hang a little.

Miss Independent: I needed this video. I was looking for a video to see how my hair will look as I was about to texturize my hair and then now I'm not going to do that again. When you said, "remember all the burns and the reason why I went natural that hit me". Thank you so much.

AllofChristina: Great video and the struggle for tender headed people like me is so real for us naturals and sometimes the process to manage our beautiful God given hair is so reaaall. Black women are gold of the earth and I totally am inspired to stay natural and do a natural hair video on my channel. Keep up the great work for our Natural hair sistas! Btw my middle name LaToya so I subscribed lol

Lolo Future: Everything you said is so true. But when you’re just OVA your natural hair like I was it’s worth the risk. Just did my second touch up- I’d say my hair is still texturized and not texlaxed but I have to be extra careful going forward with touch ups. I don’t want my hair straight. I don’t trust hairdressers to know how to texturize so I have to work on my technique- but I’m committed. I love looking at and touching my hair now. And the relaxer actually made my hair softer- maybe too soft so I am keeping up with my protein and trying to only touch up 2x a year

Kelly Floyd: Maaaan if this video wasn't about me I'll set'em up! I have 4C hair, no curl pattern, but I thought my hair would be curly if I texturized it enough to loosen it. That semi-straight shot of your hair is exactly what I feared would happen. I had a lot of 'what if' questions that have now been answered. Thank you for the honesty.

danyellauj311: OMG!!! I needed this so bad!!!! Thank you girl!!! I was on my way but not any more thanks to you!

Pizza: went natural a little more then a year ago, never again with the relaxers! my hair has never been healthier and its honestly so much easier to manage! i wanna encourage my mom to stop relaxing her hair aswell because she used to have beautiful locs when i was a baby

My Life Chronicles: I have been natural for about 13 years and for the last two, my hair has completely changed. It is brittle and dry and nothing has stopped it from breaking, including cutting the damage. I big chopped, and what little hair I had left continued to break. Since it is so short now, I've really been eyeing that relaxer box, lol. I'm glad I found this video. In my heart I knew I'd regret it, but I am at such a loss right now as to what to do with my hair. Great video.

Anar R: All true! Thank you for this video. I texlaxed a few years ago and had to cut all my hair off and start again. My hair just started breaking off and did noT look healthy, it was dry and choppy. Never again

Alien Township: Girl I sure which I would’ve saw this before impulsively texturizing. At the time, I was looking for videos that would give me more confirmation to do it rather than reasons NOT to, the fact that I was doing that speaks to the doubt that I should’ve gave weight to.

Ashalayy2213: My hair is texturized, thank God my hair turned out exactly how it looks when it’s wet before it drys up and shrinks up lol.. I would understand though that it does take more maintenance .. I realized I can’t treat my hair the same way it was natural as in not touching it as much because the breakage can be real .. but nothing more protein can’t fix and more TLC .. for me it works I like the texture I have .. I can still do the natural styles I did before which is pretty much only a twist out cause I put it in a headscarf all the time lol but .. it works for me.. the secret I use a mild kids just for me texturizer and literally leave it for 10 minutes which is the whole application and process time .. it’s not all that bad .. I think you either get lucky with this or you don’t .. I pray the rest of my journey will go good and the good news is .. if I want to stop .. my hair will still look BOMB af even with the previously texturized hair .. 4b/4C was my texture .. just wanted to shed some light on this cause not all the time texturizing is bad it’s just how you do it .. what you use and how you maintain it

Honey Blaque: I ruined my hair after watching a few videos of women with my type of hair doing texturizer. I didn’t even leave it on for 5 minutes, and it literally relaxed my hair. And it burned sooo bad. I’m pissed.

A K: It depends how you do it my mum and I texturing our hair once every 1 or two years. You shouldn't leave the texturing in for a long time. I put it in and when I'm done instantly wash it out and it just gives me a looser 4c curl. ‍♀️

Annie Fisher: Thank you much for this vidéo ! I needed to hear that I’m just going to braid my hair for a while to avoid doing something I might regret. ☺️

Olivia Carter: I was natural for 6 years then texturized in Feb of this year. GIRL I wish I didn't lol the back of my hair is gone and my hair has massively thinned out. its def hard when you want a change but now I see it wasn't worth it. I was mid-back length and now im babying what's left to keep some hair on my head

Israeliana NG: Staying natural!! Look at Scurl activator gel to get that definition. Add other extensions and change as often as 2-3 weeks. I love my natural hair.

Nikki Dual: Thank you so much! I am in one of those moods where I'm feeling overwhelmed and just want simplicity! I am going to hold off though now...

MzDrea !: I have big chopped , natural, texturized, and permed so many times in the last 15 years. It’s fun to change up and I am not good with my hair in its natural state. I accept my myself in all forms and my preference changes from day to day.

Patricia Patrick: I’m texturizing my hair this weekend. If it doesn’t work out for me, I can always cut it. Nothing works for me at this point. And I went natural because I wanted to do more with my hair. Being natural for 9 years I can’t do much with my hair. It takes hours upon hours to do my hair only to leave it in twists or a bun. I’m over it. I can’t braid my hair down into cornrows because I can’t get through the tangled to opt for a wig. It just looks weird on my head. Stylists just rip my hair out with their brush because it’s tangled and I leave their chair with a headache. I’m done.

Xanderfan20: Every time I want to texturize or relax my hair I come watch this video. Thanks for making it.

Lynn J: Everything you spoke of in this video is so true. Texlaxing your hair is a no go. You may as well just fully relax it. When I use to texlax my hair, the porosity of my strands became very high. My hair was always dry, fizzy, and tangled. Which is why I just went full natural and I saw my porosity change bck to low-normal. It took a long time for my hair to recover from the chemicals in relaxers, but it's progressing. Thank u for letting us know the cons of texlaxing. Great infomative video, sista.❤

Latoya Owens: I really appreciate this video! I forgot over the years why I went natural in the first place.

Mimi CosplayV: I've been natural forever (years). I've had locs (that I went into unrealistically) that I loved for a while that didn't work out. I've shaved it all off. The mid section of my hair is so much thicker and harder for me to manage as it grows. I'm not adverse to finger detangling to detangeling in general. My hairs been shedding like crazy from the cornrows and such so I'm Def gonna further test it

brandy brown: I've definitely have been feeling tired of my. natural hair. My hair is thin and fine and i have a lot of breakage. I'm tired of styling my hair and realizing i've just spent two hours twisting. Lately, i've been thinking of trying something new, but now I'm leaning back to keeping my hair natural and maybe just getting a really good cut.

Iki Morilahio: Wish I saw this before I texturized my natural afro. Am really mad at myself but it's done. My hair went from coily curls to messy confused frizzy hair Definitely going to chop it off & start again.

LifewithSuzzy Q: I did texterize my hair a month ago, I regret going to someone who didn’t know the difference between texterizer and a relaxer, that’s my only mistake. I wish I had done it myself. Please make sure the hairstylist knows what they are doing.

ツlatifah: i’ve recently cut my hair to a twa & im loving it but my mom wants me to texturize my hair again. (she’s been texturizing my hair as long as i can remember, i didn’t even know what my natural curls looked like before i cut it.) shes saying how “i don’t have natural curls” when i can literally feel my curl shape on my fingers. my hair is very thick though so she might think that the texturizer would make it thinner (which is what i DONT want, i’ll live with the thickness). & like you were saying, talking abt if you don’t have a curl pattern then it’s impossible for you to have curly hair , so that had me thinking abt why is she making me do it even tho she claims i don’t have curly hair? so i’m planning on telling her abt that. also when you said “remember why you went natural”, i had to pause and really think about it because going natural was the best decision i’ve made & im only 15. i remember stressing over my hair, making sure it looks even, consistently cutting one side & all of that, & it wasn’t worth it at all. so i just wanna say thank u so much for this video, really! i’m gonna tell my mom abt what i learned so that she can stop doing it to her hair too xx

Elizabeth Gift: I recently texlaxed my hair and i must say, y'all, it gets very very dry. It is harder to maintain and breaks easily. Hair styles are harder to achieve It's more frustrating so far than natural hair. I will say, either you relaxed your hair all the way or keep it natural. No in between. I am two weeks post texlaxing and i am thinking of completing straightening it after some time. I will go back natural after a year or so. I wanted to have fun with my hair before another big chop so

tracy r nelson: I have been natural for a year now and I love it. When I was using the chemicals in my hair, it was so dry and just yucky. Now my hair is healthy and growing.

Lacina Stieber: I thought texturizing my natural hair was the answer too but after a day or so it was limp and dry and I couldn't do anything with it. So I did a big chop and I never felt more beautiful! Never again haha

Annicet Williams: I did this to my hair but I diluted the mixture and I came out really well

Slow Turtle Love Bug: I was about to texturise my chemical sensitive hair, thank you sis

Akilah George: You spoke the ABSOLUTE truth! Ppl keep asking me why I don't relax my hair, and I'm like whattttttt? The burns?????? Noooo! I love my natural hair, and I love it more cuz I'm 4c, that ain't,gonna change. Plus twists are your friend

Quincy Harris: I'm literally feeling you. The texturizer straightened my hair

Ljay Me: This is a great video. Bottom line is you accepted your natural hair and the maintenance that comes with it, which is why it is easier.

Yolanda Foster: That is so true! What happens to others isn't 4 our hair type. Learning to work with you hair and what is for your hair. Our hair behaves more under heavier types of products such as Cantu 's brand custard, hot oil treatments, and just loving your hair you will see what your hair can really do. See the potential i. The end Beautiful!!!

Sheree McCrum: Thank you so much, this was exactly what I needed to remind me of it all. I will not be texturising. Whew almost made a bigmistake.

Kaydren H.: This is the 1st video that came up when I typed using texturizer on natural hair. Glad it was because I sure was thinking about doing this ha! I wanted a texturizer thinking that it would help my curls and ease detangling. I've been natural going on 3 years now and I canceled my hair appointment in Dec for my next protective style to let me hair rest a bit. Wtf did I do that for? Cause this hair is stressful at time. But I will hang in there. I rescheduled my appointment for the 23rd of January and I cannot wait!

Shoana Charles: The only reason I went natural was to embrace my natural state but textured hair was way easier to maintain and isn't as bad as people make it seem

Malia Venerable: You are sooooooo right! Can’t believe I was thinking about texturizing. I love my hair!

M O: I’m only like a year natural and I already went down the path of considering relaxing my natural hair in the futureso I’m writing this comment to remind myself that my relaxed hair was the same length for years and then it fell off and that was hell. So I’m not going to do it cause it was not worth the tears and the stress and the burning scalp

PERFECTLY IMPERFECTED: stay natural because I trust your word from your learned mistakes, and I love to get advice from ppl who have done it already, so thank you

Charelle Harris: To each it’s own I did mine and I LOVVEEE IT and I only do a touch up every 6 months

T.: With me being a cosmetologist, I found over the many years when it comes to hair in general...rather the hair is texturized, relaxed, or if the person is rocking a Jerry curl, and any hair coloring services. Most do not know how to properly treat/ maintain the hair. This is especially when it comes to any type of any chemical services! People seem to not really understand, with chemical services ESPECIALLY... one is taking the hair out of it's natural state. To take the hair out of its natural state you are stripping the hair down. It's very important... whatever you take out, one has to deposit back. What I mean by deposit...is simply bringing back the nourishments the hair needs. The hair will need, a good deep conditioning, any good carrier oils...such as avocado oil, grape seed oil, Jojoba oil, Coconut oil. All of those oils work best to having healthier hair & preventing hair breakage. While all the carrier oils are good. A good start to having healthier hair is also having a good diet, more water intake and even a hair trim every once in awhile.

Tamara Wain: Thank you so much for this ! I almost did it sis

Perry: I'm texturing my hair, hopefully i like the outcome. I just want to stretch out my curl a little. I love your commentary though. Knugin3081

Darcey DeRosa: I agree that being 100 percent natural is easier to maintain. It's not easy to get consistent texture each time you retouch the texturizer.

Ichimatsu Matsuno: I'm gonna stay natural because I love my natural hair and it's EZ to take care of. Waaaay easier than my relaxed hair. And cheaper.
