Hey guys, so a lot of you have been asking me how I achieve my hair cut. This is my natural hair, of course, and I just have it straightened, but I just want to show you guys really quickly how my hair is cut into these layers. I am NOT a professional, I never got hair school look, and this is just me experimenting for years on in my hair and other people's hair. So this is the way I trim my hair and, as always, make sure you clip as little as possible. You can always cut more, but you can never add that hair back again, you're just going to have the late board to grow out. So if you're super ensure of what you're doing just ask a friend to help or go to a stylist. I know a lot of you have been asking me how my hair is cut, so I'm just going to show you how I maintain this cut with a trim. So basically, what you want to do is just go ahead and brush out your hair. You always want to start at the ends and then work your way upwards, like that, just make sure you get your tangles and your knots out now I find that trimming. My hair is a lot easier when it's straight as opposed to curly, you don't even have to flat iron it. You can just you know, blow-dry it straight and then you know trim from there, but I actually wanted to straight my hair. So this is the best time to show you guys. So what I do is I just section my hair in two parts, so I have one half on one side and then one half on the other and I'm not super. You know strict on the partying in it. You know this is the way my hair naturally parts. Some willing is that way, so I'm going to start from the front and then just work my way backwards. So you have to keep in mind that the more vertical you hold your hair up so say you go completely straight up like this. No, I'm not harder to get my hair in the frame, but single completely straight up and you cut right across your layers are going to fall like this. So you're going to have really short layers right here and then the longer layers are gon na fall. You'Re gon na have shorter layers to keep it. You know to keep it simple and then the more straight out you cut it the longer your layers are going to be so you're not going to have much of a difference in the layer. So I normally cut my here at about this angle, so maybe around 45 degrees. Just like that anything that falls. I just let it fall. So I do vertical strips this way and then I go backwards just like that and that same motion until I reach the back of my head. I just make sure that the that the pieces are thin enough so about an inch wide from here to there. So about an inch wide piece - and I go vertically like that, and then you want to get some really sharp shears, not some. You know, arts and crafts years and not some kitchen shears or something you find later on. The house really sharp hair shears for hair and then I just go ahead and just dust it, and at this point I can kind of see my end, so I can see what needs to be cut. I don't really like to cut the whole thing off, because not all of the ends need to be clipped. If you get what I mean, some of them are split, some aren't and then that's one section done really simple: I'm not a hair stylist, but this is the way I've been doing it for years and years and years, and it has gotten me by so we're Going to get the section right behind holding that section up, I'm just going to snip that way. I still get that layer well getting that clean-cut. So when it falls this this layer at the top is going to be shorter than the line at the bottom. I'M just going to keep working my way backwards and it's really really simple. I don't make it top of hit at all. It'S not that serious to me. This is long as I get my hair trimmed and I get most of those ends cut. So that way you know my hair is healthy and the split ends aren't traveling all the way up to my scalp. I just do a lot of short cutting motions to make sure I get the ends without you know, cutting too much hair off, because sometimes I can get a little scissor happy. You pull it downwards. Just like that, make sure it's nice, and even just like that. Do that for the other side freedom's, just like that see how this is the finished products, its soft, its bouncy. It moves has a lot more body than one. It'S all, tangled and split. Try so guys have any questions, of course leave them down in the comments below don't forget to Like and subscribe until next time, guys, hi

Simone A: Thank you SO much for this video! I watched a good 4 or 5 other trimming video tutorials before coming across yours and yours made the most sense to me, by far. I was terrified to trim my own ends, but i used your technique and i must say that my results weren't half bad! bless you!

Krystalanne Gomez: I’m impressed! this tutorial is great, it’s helpful and easy and I am oh so grateful. Thank you! :) I love your confidence also! And that you remember to sprinkle a bit of humbleness and modesty on top. Totally cute. Being a good woman rocks !!

Shay Young: Duuude ik this is an old video and all but this video helped me so much with not being afraid to trim my own hair. I butchered my hair once trying to trim my own ends and it was a huge setback lol but i was able to trim my hair just now with the guidance of this vid and im sooo happy! Thanks!

cindy: Great tutorial.. straight to the point ! I'm going to try it right now, thank you P.S. you have a God given natural beauty and talent, congratulations on finding a good way to utilize that gift. Good luck in your future endeavors. Cindy

Cierra: New subbie here and I 100% will be trying this because over the course of this video and several others, I've come to realize you and I just might be hair twins (fraternal, of course)! The density, fineness, texture, and curl pattern of your hair is so close to mine its kind of freaking me out lol. Side note: you should try E'tae natural products, you already have healthy hair, as do I, but I feel like they took my hair to another level.

thagirlb: OK I've been looking at this video since you first posted it back in January....finally tried it today and my hair came out amazing!!!! Now I have no reason to go to a stylist anymore....Thank you!!!

CITY GIRL PRAIRIE LIFE: I'm going to attempt this technique once I take my braids down. I have fine 4c hair. This cut make it look like you have a lot of volume!

Amanda Bodiford: PERFECT!! I like how you went into detail on HOW MUCH to part and WHERE to part. Cuz these other "beauty gurus" weren't quite doin out for me.

rachray83: Nice i twist or braid my hair while its curly since thats how I wead it then i trim the ends. I have fine and medium hair so it needs a trim or very light dusting more often which mean less hair is being trimmed and u dont notice the loss and u get a nice burst of retention. Question, what happends with those pieces that fell and you didnt trim?

NÖ NÖ: thank you that was so simple and made so much sense! :) now i'm not afraid to trim my own hair.

proper choice: U are not cutting ur hair right cutting your hair the wrong way can stunt the growth of your head you supposed to part it into sections and hold it at different degrees and angles depending on where you start to cut at the top of your head you are cutting it down to the side when you posed to take the middle hold it straight up and cut it I don't know all I know is that you're cutting it all wrong

Nicole Jenkins: How did you get your hair to grow so fast ? And are you black ? How many years did it take for you hair to be this long ?

Eimya Kennemore: beautiful

Gorgeous Leslie: You and your hair are beautiful.

Natividad Torres: Listen people I really don't think yous know too much about hair.. She needed to cut more of her ends.. It seems that she's trying to keep length but if she doesn't do clean trims her hair eventually is going to thin out and she'll really going to have to cut more than 1in of hair..

Natividad Torres: You still need to trim your ends.. Healthy is better than having long and dry ends..

Mouriser J: how often do you trim? @Jaleesa
