DISCLAIMER:

Please note that I'm not a medical doctor or a qualified cosmetic chemist. I do my best to quote credible scientific studies and link to all the studies in the description so you can fact-check me, but I can't 100% guarantee that all my info is error-free. It's important to consult your doctor and do what's best for you individually.

The most common frustration in my men's grooming community man remains is guys complaining that their hair is unmanageable and they hate how it looks and they usually follow up by asking. What can i do to fix this so in this video i'm going to break apart? That question and answer it for every single guy on the planet. That'S a bold statement but stick around until the end, and let me know in the comments if i accomplish that goal, so some common complaints that guys make about their hair are things like it doesn't. Look how i want it to look. I don't know what products or regimens to follow. I get discouraged and i'm about to give up growing out my hair, someone please give me some advice or help me. So here are some of the top reasons or mistakes. Men make that can cause them to feel this way and how to fix each one and again stick to the end, because i share the secret to beating the awkward stage of hair growth. So mistake number one is actually not having any idea what your hair type is now, most guys they grow their hair and they use the same drugstore products. They'Ve always used, of course, thinking that the quality of their hair won't change because it was healthy when it was short, so why would anything be different when they grow it out? This is completely wrong. Chances are the products you use with short hair are actually not the right products to use for your longer hair. Why travis? Why is this the case so think of your hair like rope? Well, rope! That'S growing! If you always chop away old rope before it dries out, you're always going to have fresh new rope right and it's going to be strong and healthy. But if you stop cutting that rope and then that rope continues to sit in the sun, get exposed to the environment, use products that aren't properly hydrating or are too harsh and drying, then that rope is going to get brittle and snap over time. You know or it'll just look really damaged all the time so by adding correct products for your hair type in a proper regimen. You can always have strong and healthy rope hair that will always look great, but here's the catch, every single guy, every person has a different hair type, has a different type of rope, and each rope requires different products to keep it hydrated and strong. So your hair type is the map that you will use to shop for products and there's five key traits to look at. You have your curl pattern: scalp, moisture levels, hair texture, scalp density and hair porosity. Now, if you'd, like an in-depth look at what each one of these are, i have a 30 minute video. I go into detail of what each one of those is and what you can do. Based on what category you fall into i'll link it in the description for you to watch if you're the type of person who doesn't care about that info and you're. Just like tell me what how to find my hair type and what products to use. How do i shop okay, great so i'd recommend taking my free hair type quiz which you can find on my free app? It'S in the app store and the google play store. It'S called mannered mains. It also has a community of men who are all growing their hair and beards out, so it's a great place to connect with other guys who are on the same journey as you as well. So once you take this hair type quiz, you can also see everyone else's hair type and what products they're using and shop for products by your hair type in the product section of the app so definitely go, download it and for 8.99 a month. I will give you personalized product recommendations, meaning i will go in and look at your hair profile and send you a custom recommendation, but for context. Let me quickly break down a few examples. So if you're, someone who has fine textured hair, which is defined as taking one strand rolling it through your fingers and you're, barely able to track it like, you can barely feel that one strand, then your hair is lightweight and it gets weighed down easily. So for you, you should avoid using heavier products: heavier shampoos, heavier conditioners, so you would shop for more volumizing products, things like the odell volumizing line, the jvn embody line or the philip kingsley bodybuilding line. If you are on the opposite end and you have thick and coarse hair, then you would shop for something opposite you're going to want something, a little heavier to help kind of weigh your hair down a little bit heavier conditioner, maybe even some leave-ins to use after You shampoo and condition so not knowing your hair type and not knowing how to apply that information to your shopping into your regimen is the first mistake men make when they complain that they don't like how their hair looks, and that is unmanageable. And honestly. This is probably the most common one, which is why i address it in probably ninety percent of my videos at this point and it's why it's mistake number one, but it's not the only mistake. So, let's move on to the next one. So the second mistake guys make is actually the most common mistake after mistake number one - and this is they've given themselves the wrong hair type, so they think that they have one hair type, but they actually have a completely different one. How could you make this mistake? I mean it's actually really easy. I did it for a while i'll explain that in a second but for example, when a guy has shorter hair, it looks straight because it's short and then they grow it out and they realize that they actually have some waves. That haven't shown up yet and then the longer it grows. They'Re like oh wow, my hair is actually pretty wavy, so in reality they have 2b hair when they thought they had type 1 hair. Now this is a probably the most common one. It'S actually really rare for people to have pin straight hair, although it's not impossible. For example, a lot of asian men. They do have coarse, pin straight hair, that's very common in the asian culture, but most people have some sort of wave and it's easier to see the longer it gets and it becomes more pronounced the longer your hair gets. So this is really important, because your regimen is going to slightly change. You might try adding a curl cream to bring out those waves. You might brush your hair differently or less often, because if you brush wavy curly hair, it gets super frizzy. In fact, you might not even brush when it's dry, you might detangle it in the shower with a wet brush instead of brushing it when it's dry, so you could think you have one hair type but are actually incorrect and need to change up your regimen. So some common signs of this are, if you're, following a regimen for straight hair, but you always have frizz and it feels unmanageable. I'M actually a great example. For the longest time, i thought i had a mixture of type 1 and 2a hair when i moved cities to a more humid environment. My natural waves started coming out a lot more and i started to realize that i actually had more of a 2a 2b combination. Hair so i started brushing less often i started detangling when my hair is wet and using more curly, hair regimens and i was really able to accentuate natural waves and that change in regimen has been a game changer. So let me know if the comments, if you'd actually like me, to make a wavy hair tutorial, because i think it might be helpful for a lot of you guys who think you have straight hair. But you actually have wavy hair. The next mistake most guys make they don't minimize the awkwardness when they're in the awkward stage and it causes them to give up and it's it makes it be more unmanageable. So let me explain, the awkward stage can be minimized and almost avoided, and you do this by shaping your hair as it grows guys grow out their hair from all different cuts. They grow it out from an undercut from a buzz cut from a side part and to get to the desired result. They want, they usually just let it grow and they get to this awkward phase. This is when your hair is too long to style it up or too short to be able to tie it up and you're, not sure what to do so. What you need to do is make an appointment with your stylist and bring in a photo of your end goal so show them a photo of someone who has the style and length that you want your hair to look once you get to that goal and make Sure this person in the photo has the same hair type as you right. If you're thinning on top, you know, don't bring in a photo of thor and be like yeah. This is what i want find someone who shares your hair type and then bring in that image so be realistic about it and then ask them to shape your hair in a way that, once you hit the proper length, it will be that style that you want. This will balance out a lot of the awkwardness and sort of allow your hair to lay naturally and still look nice, even when it's in that in between length, so they might add some texture, they might add some layers. They might even out everything. So one side isn't longer than the other, and this is just going to allow the awkward stage to look nicer. You'Ll be more motivated, you won't give up and you probably won't get a lot of negative comments from people when you're in that in between stage as well. It might still feel a little bit awkward to you because you're not sure how to style it, but you can get away with going out in public without having to do any crazy things. You just have to lay naturally, maybe put a little bit of sea salt to give it some texture and you're good to go, but anyways guys. I know, there's a lot more mistakes. I don't want this video to run on forever. Let me know in the comments: if you want a part two or if you want more tips like this, did i offer solutions for every single guy? I hope so, but i'll see you guys in the next one peace

Trav White: Here is the wavy hair tutorial - https://youtu.be/m953z8ldRvc

RycoonGalloy: I'm not giving up on growing out my hair because any bad long hair is better than my short hair, which was always terrible

ARaccoonStoleMyRadiator: Another important factor in people I see is simply your own feeling about it. A lot of people have good hair but don't ever seem happy with it and they don't style it, and the frown on their face makes their hair seem ugly. A bit of positivity or friendliness can make a hairstyle much more appealing, in the same way that somebody wearing a crazy or ugly outfit can wear it extremely well just because of their disposition.

Pratham Raina: if you're going to make a part 2, one thing I would really add is the perception of "ugly" just because its not the style you've had for the past years, and the confidence to own a different hairstyle for a while.

Braulio Montelongo: As a guy with hair down passed my chest. I appreciated this!

Birdineye: This is a big call-out for me. Whenever I try to do anything to my hair it ends up being frizzy and doesn't stay where I want it to stay. Problem is, I don't really understand all these different types of products and such. These videos have been helping me understand the general consensus of what I should do, (as Trav and this channel are both blessings!) but there is so much to figure out all at once that I am unsure where to start.

Boromonkey: During awkward length....Sun glasses as a Headband. Always looks like you just forgot. But works great!

Yme Ypma: I had been growing my hair for about 2 1/2 years, Started just before Covid hit Canada. It’s reached about 19-20inches. I’ve decided to cut it now but What I’ll say to people trying to grow it out is just don’t care what others think, you’ll go through an awkward stage but you’ll regret it if you just cut it off as soon as some negative comments come. I’ve loved my long hair but ik it’s time to try something new. I’ll be going for 7 inches on top and 4 on the sides and back

Boromonkey: 35 years off and on long hair. Just let it grow. If you have it, you do. Keep women away from your long hair.....Lest you look like a poodle.Let it get stringy! A woman hair styist will give you a "poodle" chop! Split ends are not the end of the world! Or find A rocker long-hair stylist.

Eric O.: I started growing my hair out because of the pandemic and 2 years later its past my shoulders and your videos are a huge help with maintaining this because all my life i had short hair and i was clueless about what to do

Florian Barras: I've lost so much hairs in the last few years that it's now impossible for me to grow it out as I used to without it looking sad. This videos reminds me of that time fondely, and hopefuly in the future I'll be taking the route of implants and grow it out again! Looking forward to be a part of the mane community again.

Paul Robson: Hi Trav. I’d love to see a tutorial for type 2 wavy hair. I struggle with my type 2a/2b hair and never know whether to battle with it and try and straighten it or leave it natural and then it can look like an unruly bulky mess.

Ominous: I started growing my hair out again after the turning point in my life; april 15, 2019. Overall it looks so much more friendly. Still growing strong. Dark blonde with natural summer blonde highlights and wavy. Mostly worn in a longtail. I can't stand buns because it's mostly fashion. But sometimes it's unavoidable for safety reasons. The biggest mistakes I made was wearing a cap too much to keep the hair back. Wich caused the hair between my beard an ears to remain short and messy. It's gonna take a while to grow that out. In the homeless shelter it got invaded with lice. After succesfully treating it with anti lice oil, it became so much better. So my hair likes the right oil. From my ex gf at that time I learned to use the right shampoo and conditioner to keep it healthy. I only wash it once the hair becomes fat or smelly, or when the scalp becomes itchy. Most of the times once in ever 4 to 5 days, depending on circumstances. I brush it 2 times a day. After the shower, I brush it wet and dry. Almost no knots, but a lot of growing dead ends. So I need to learn how to cut my own long hair in a proper way. And I'm looking for some hair oil.

SoySauce HairDye: I have been growing my hair for around 3 and a half to 4 years now and I just got to say its all about the journey and savioring each transition. I have Chris Cornell type of curls and I do think living in a very cold coastal town that is foggy throughout a lot of the year makes the journey much easier than for people who live in humid and hot climates. I could get away with wearing a beanie year round during any bad hair days, because its only noticably hot here maybe 5 to 6 days in the year.

Darth Dyrnn: I went through my stupid phase with a hard hat on. full on goofy AF. i did it every single day. 2+ years ( I dont remember exactly when i started) later my hair is long, falling on my shoulders. im almost 39. Just wanted to say to those out there not to give up on growing that long hair they always wanted. You will always have to go through "the tunnel" to reach any end goal.

Damo: hey trav. what are your thoughts on getting hair thinned out when going for a haircut? been growing mine out for awhile but since its quite wavy and VERY thick I decided to get thinned out. im just afraid its going to grow out funny now that all the hairs are different lengths

Anonymous: As someone who has watched a lot of hair tutorials, the general rule of thumb is to avoid sulphates in shampoos (or at least avoid using it too much). Sulphates dry the hair out, causing frizz and breakage.

GM Ace: I’m currently growing out my hair and I definitely don’t want to cut it yet because I know it’s definitely easier to get it short again than to keep it long. One cut takes away the almost two years of growing it out lol. That being said I’m still trying to find a hairstyle that works for me.

pheloki hair: Great advice! I would add to product use: less is more, but I can only speak for straight hair. I like how you really help guys growing out their hair because it can make you require more confidence at some point. By the way I don't think the thumbnail hair is ugly

Доситеј Трнинић: Best decision I made in my life. It is exactly one year that I am growing my hair, and I LOVE IT. I just made it through my awkward phase and I am so happy. Thank you for encouraging me one year ago!

kebs: Would love to see a wavy hair tutorial. I too thought I was a mixture of 1B / 2A but leaning to 2A/B. Interesting when seeing the waves become more prominent when combing through wet hair during conditioning.

Thomas Scott Williams: I’m really pleased to find your channel, I’m a 2a, didn’t even know there were types, my stylist took way too much off a great length hair and it’s taken 8 months to correct it, I’m thick dark wavy hair and would really appreciate a part 2, also tips on what to say to stylists to manage your good length to prevent stylist over cutting. Cheers

Naveen Magapu: I have been discouraged by my family since the beginning whenever I've tried growing my hair out. I have curly 3B hair and can get upto 3C easily if not combed. I'm finally on my journey now and started during covid. I had 1.5 years of a beard journey and now i've cut it off and started a hair growth journey since late 2021. I already messed up and cut the sides and back twice. But i'm hoping to achieve a mid taper undercut manbun by the end of this year. Going for a maintenance cut next week. I hope it works out, this is the longest i've invested into my hair or anything really.

VL: I wanted to share this points that I realized in growing my hair into mid length: 1.) use shampoo once or twice a week only! (If u have oily scalp probably three times a week) 2.) grow the sides and trim ur sideburns depending on your face shape. 3.) always trim ur beard! (Will alsoe depends on ur face shape and beard type)

AxelSteve: For every guy that is growing his hair out,i.m here with you;for me have just passed 5 days since i had a short haircut after deciding to cut it to grow it healthier than before(i have a 2c-3a type of hair) and the first time i've grown my hair out i didn't know that and i've done mistakes that i could not recover anymore, that.s the main reason i've cut my hair short. We just have to be pacient,1 to 2 years will be enough to achieve a man bun depending from the hair type.A tip that i can give is start imagining your hair long and treat it as it is long already,it all be worth the time.Stay strong!

Dan Murphy: PLEASE do some wavy hair content. My scalp gets oily after about 2 days, but my ends are always super dry. Used to shampoo every day for years, used really harsh shampoo from scalp to ends and got super dried out. Used conditioner from scalp to ends, too. Also started using coconut oil, which helped a bit, but poor basic care was putting the cart before the horse. Summer would make my hair super frizzy and split my ends so fast. Hair also dries out quickly. I am a 2a/2b, combination scalp/ends, fine hair strands, dense/thick growth pattern, and I *think* it's pretty porous (hair dries in about an hour and saturates fairly quickly). I recently subscribed to Formulate, have been using 1mg finasteride for almost 6 months to regrow the corners of my hairline (which is working), stopped shampooing so often (now twice per week), shampoo only the scalp, condition only the ends, dry with a low-heat blow dryer + towel with no harsh rubbing, and put my hair in a loose bun when working out (daily). I'm also using a Tek brush which has helped tremendously for detangling and spreading oils, so I'm noticing a MASSIVE change in my hair health, but it's not quite where I want it to be. It would be great to have a video that directly approaches my hair type with guidance so I don't have to click through 6+ videos to understand what I should be doing. Thank you!

janska: I wore my hair in a bun constantly because my hair visually dragged my face down when wearing it down. Also I was in a bad mental state with severe depression and wanted to minimize „problems“ in my daily routine… So I shaved it off. Ppl told me that long hair suited me but any hairstyle suits me tbh. Shaving my head was effective cuz I had one less thing to worry about cuz I always worried about how my hair looks. Now I just some product in and I’m done. Some day I’ll maybe grow it back because I got nice red-blondish hair wich only rlly shows when it’s longer, but that’s future talk

Andrey Ferreira: Hey Trav!!! I've been growing my hair for 13 months and I would love for you to make a wavy hair video. Since I have 2a hair and have found no content concerning how to take care of wavy hair for men on Youtube, it would be nice to have videos related to this subject. P.S. Thank you for giving us such good content. Much love from Brazil !!

Paul Yao: Yes, more tips please! As my hair gets longer, I realize it gets more and more curly.

Cannibal Holocaust: I made it to 5 inches / 180 days & decided to trim down to about 1. My hair is VERY THICK & grows out sideways and is wavy when long. Would be cool to see examples of people like this who’ve managed to grow proper long manes. I trimmed for a wedding then my barber went a little crazy, I wasn’t mad because it was getting a bit unmanageable.

sjafi: I have fine, thin, slightly wavy hair with an oily scalp. Another issue I've had recently is scalp pain. I can't put my hair up in a bun for longer than 20-30 minutes anymore, whereas 5 or so years ago, I could go all day with a bun. I haven't found an answer to the increased sensitivity, but I will say that if anyone has my hair type, try out organic Peppermint Castile soap. Dilute it to at least half and half, and do your best to avoid your eyes as the peppermint is a bit strong. I don't use conditioner, it just weighs down my hair and causes scalp build up. The peppermint helps with the scalp pain, and my hair feels and looks great for a longer period of time. The two brands I've used are Dr. Bronners and Quinn's Pure Castile Soap. Quinn's has a bit more viscosity, while Bronner's is closer to the thickness of water.

ugli: I'm in a masive awkward stage at the moment. Have been growing my hair for 12 months and a half. The hair on top touches my chin, the sides are about 1-1.5 inches shorter than the front. The back is what makes it look long. In a month or two, I guarantee I'll be out of this awkward stage. It's so annoying.

Layne Morris: This was great and really gave the courage I needed to keep seeing this hair journey through. Many thanks!

Zeke Yeager: Good hair or bad hair, call it. I can’t call it for you

Lucas Matsuoca: I'm half asian, my hair is very dark, straight and coarse/thick, it gets a lot of volume and can easily get that very dry aspect, I already started to use shampoo and hair conditioner for coarse hair and I noticed a huuuge improvment in that dry brush aspect. It looks much better and by consequence, the excess of volume has gone down. I wish i knew this sooner, as a guy you usually just think hair is hair and if you don't get a nice one, you just have bad genetics.

Alan Torres: Im at about 6-7 months into my hair growth and at about 3 months in I had a super awkward stage and I work for the government so I can’t just nasty hair so I went for a super small trim and explained to the barber what my goal was, not sure what he did but it was a super small tips cut and I think it’s the best decision I’ve made it’s longer now but still looks clean and it feels super healthy, might get another small tips cut in 2 months ish just to make sure it still looks clean but I’m loving the process

Sarena B: As a girl who’s grown out a buzz cut, this is just really good advice

MrMiller: I've had blond with white salt and pepper streaks, with a strong beard since 2016 (I grew out the topknot undercut I'd had since 2014, since everyone started getting them), I've always been complimented on it, and many women have said they're jealous of it (the hair not the beard!), but to be honest, I'm kind of bored of having long hair. I've got a page tabbed up for a booking, and just mulling it over before I make an appointment. Won't be going super short though.

Alejandro Arredondo: The tutorial would be amazing for wavy hair , I’m on the process of growing out my hair and I’m getting to that awkward stage . That would help a lot .

Nikhil: Him: gives lots of ways to make the awkward stage manageable. Me: has literally been wearing a hat everywhere I go for the past like 6 months.

Narvré: BRO WTF I have had long hair 90% of my life and had to figre all this out via trial and error and just not caring about gendered articles nad figure it out through womens hair care. I am not embarrassed of any of this, im glad to have good long hair that reaches my ass these days, but that there is sound, solid guidance out there for other men who want to do this, its actually amazing.

IanTheGreat: I've just always wanted that 2000's emo swoop hair style, I was born in 03 so I caught the tail end of that era but I've always loved it, especially now it's just a nostalgic thing for me, reminds me of childhood. But my entire life my parents forced me to buzz my head, when I turned like 15 they stopped buzzing my head and would compromise with me, and by compromise I mean they would let my hair grow longerish and then cut everything short where it should be long and everything long where it should be short while screaming at me and gaslighting me saying "we'Re cOmpRomiSing" while I desperately tried to tell them they were not and they were just ruining my hair Anyways since I was always forced to have the most god aweful ugly hair known to man now that I'm an adult I don't know wtf I'm doing or how to work with hair at all. I just wear a hat everywhere to cover up my hair because I'm lost, I've gone to a few different stylists and none of them got my hair right, they would either make it super modern looking or just completely cut it wrong. So I'm at a loss here I don't know what to do. I guess I'll check out a few more stylists and try my best to learn how to use a flat iron

TSN Stonepilot: I have type 1 hair that’s extremely fine. Falls straight after some time even after using a curler with heat. If I was a girl this would be a blessing but as a man it’s really a problem. Ive tried countless products, some work better than others, but after a couple of hours my hair falls flat regardless of what products I use. If I’m outside in the sun it’s exacerbated. The sun seems to heat my hair and relax the strands so they fall. My barber is also a certified stylist and their only recommendation after working with me is to consider a perm. They didn’t believe me at first but literally nothing works to get me through an entire today. I get a couple of hours at most. To this day the most effective method is to wear a hat while I’m sleeping to hold the hair in place for upwards of 8 hours, this at least gives the hair some slight shape although it’s still not even close to how I’d want it.

Sir Tegucigalpa: 1. Not having any idea of what your hair type is 2. Giving yourself the wrong hair type 3. You don't minimize awkwardness in the awkward stage

Jordan Damian: I have pretty nice hair but it gets a bit frizzy sometimes, but I also don't really use hair products; so I decide to check the video out for some info since I only grew my hair out within the last two years. Was kinda surprised to see we basically have the exact same hair style, type and length. Anways thanks for the info

Jack 0f 4ll Trades: Very true about learning your hair type changes as it grows. I always kept my hair short so I thought it was straight. Nope, turns out it was wavy when I let it grow a bit. Okay, that's fine. I'll change my hair styling for wavy. Nope, a few months later it's actually curly. Huff. Not that I mind curly hair, I'd say hair is at the 2B/2C hair type. Possibly 3A if I find the right curling product. But his words are true, take your time in getting to know your hair type.

William Leon: Hi, Trav I've been watching your videos for over 2 years now and I've really enjoyed the advice and ways for longer hair and mostly everything from products to advice and I would like to see a wavy hair tutorial because I've been growing my hair long for about 2 or 3 yrs now it depends but I want to know any tutorial with wavy hair I'm between straight thin hair and wavy thin or thick hair and I want to know the right products or ways or regimen for wavy hair.

Bob Teodorczy: I actually have pin straight, ultra fine hair. It's chest length, so I'm sure about it. It looks good when I throw it in a bun or just leave it down, I think. But I'd love to know what other things I can do with it.

Camilo Badillo: A wavy hair video would be awesome. I have 2b-2c wavy hair, have not cut it for 14 months straight (I had an undercut before) and I love the look when I don't brush it, but I don't want it to tangle or built a lot of oil so I brush it first thing in the morning and before going to sleep. Your tips will be much appreciated, as all your videos. You were the trigger to make the decision to let my hair grow and I love it. Also want to know how to have a little more texture or shine. I feel like it look boring when I don't have it in a bun (maybe hair oil can help?) and it still goes a bit to the sides probably because I have a lot of hair. Just to give you a idea of how long it is, the back falls almost into my mid-back and the sides almost to my shoulders, but since it is wavy, it looks a bit shorter.

Guillermo Hernán Medrano Olmeda: OMG, I really tried to find mans trietment with long hair, it’s absolutely awkward to have a 6 month hair and suddenly it looks awful. I hope this channel can help me with my hair

Jann esquivel matínez: Hair tends to have an "awkward phase" just wait for it to get longer + everything said in this video about hair care, hydration is key

Alex H: Video on wavy hair would be great, I’m definitely one of those guys who thought his hair was straight for forever and now realising it’s not!! Cheers for this

Seif Haroun: I will keep growing my hair for next year and make a wavy hair tutorial and one day I will using a hair tie very soon. Hair Type: Straight/Wavy Hair Texture: Fine You can do it Trav don’t give up dude ❤️❤️❤️

Satvik Thakur: Yes please for the wavy hair video it would be incredibly helpful and it's been a very long time since I've been following this channel and your advices work for me the best.

Dani-A: Great video Trav. I personally would be interested in a wavy hair tutorial :)

saintjackjohn: In December 2015, I completely shaved my head and did not get it cut until late October 2018. That's a good three years of growth. I shaved my head again on Thanksgiving weekend 2020. I noticed a big visual difference in my hair was based on Photos taken during that time and as of late. During first growth, it was frizzy and looked stringy. I recall using Panteen Pro-V and maybe something else. This second growth it's totally different. It looks fuller and healthy. This time I used Everyman Jack and Nioxin interchangeably. As of now, I'm still using Everyman Jack 2 in 1 and Hims shampoo. I am considering on shaving it all off by June 2023 for a Wedding. I'm up in the air because part of me wants it to keep going while another part plans to wow people at this wedding where no one will recognize me. HA!

Rod Morrison: The number of times I've tried to explain the awkward stage to guys who don't grow their hair... My hair is quite thin and curly/wavy/mental and at my age what I'm ultimately going to have is the Beetlejuice look but maybe a bit curlier. I'm ok with this, hair is good. The only issue now is how long it takes to grow at my age. I'm growing it out again right now from a 0.5 buzzcut, it's at about a No. 2 at the moment and it will be at least eighteen months until it reaches the stage where I can roll out of bed, give it a ten-second massage and think, yep, looking good. But it's worth it.

Tyler Prime: I would love a wavy hair tutorial, I'm doing the best I can but I'm still getting more frizz than I'd like

wassel numan: Yeah, definitely need a wavy hair tutorial...and also,it would be appreciated,if you list key ingredients of the products you're recommending, because it may not be available where everyone is from, so we can get similar products...

freefromthedark: Help with wavy hair would be awesome. Also wondering if there's anyway to accentuate the waves and curls and maybe push the natural growth of curls more frequently...idk

djswirley: Hey trav you got great videos about hair and I got long hair really trying to take care of it now as my hairline feels like it could be going back and my hair feels like it’s thinning a bit now, I got my hair in a bun all day because I am out but going to try take care of my hair the best I can

Mags: Im a girl but i love ur vids haha and when i cut my hair it was like a 6 month hair growth from a buzzcut. Now after six month i cut it. Im in another awkward phase. Its not that awkward but also it is. Idk. Its not a bob but also not a pixie but close to a bob. I kinda wish i didnt ruin my bob lmaooo

Jason Toy: Definitely would like to see the wavy hair tutorial!

Slaik: Here I am with fine 3b-ish hair. It's uncontrollable. I've grown it for nearly a year now but damn. When it dries, it is past my chin, but just doesn't fall, it sticks out straight from my forehead

Paul O'Shaughnessy: Yes, I would love to see a wavy hair tutorial!

Geeeno: Hi Trav. I use OGX coconut milk shampoo and conditioner once a week to wash my hair. I just Heard about the scandal of DMDM Hydantoin ingredient and I'm so worried. I couldn't actually find it in the ingredient list but someone explained that it goes by another name (diazonidinyl urea). This ingredient is actually present in the website but its nowere to be found behind the botte of the shampoo I use. Can you or the other guys give me some clues on what I should do?

Gonzalo Urteaga: A guide for wavy hair would be great I feel like I am a 2c with spots of going to 3, but still wavy fits me best and is the advice y would value the most

Ben Ny: OMG I have this exact problem what you described. I have a bit of curviness in my hair and I brushed it because it looked so frizzy and it got way worse.

S: I just want to add not all Asian men even have pin straight hair, I thought I had straight hair but it's actually SO HEAVY and thick(the shaft itself). It's only possible to show a natural wave to come out when it's short because it's not being weighed down by gravity. If your hair never feels weightless/has that bounce it cannot exhibit its curl pattern. Native American men/women and people w a lot of American DNA are the only other people with hair that has this extremely weighted jet black hair, I have a theory almost no one has 1a hair. You'll notice blonde men's hair waves much easier, especially longer cause there's not as much gravity and so if you'd have longer hair all your life but it's heavy you;d never know until you go above shoulder...another thing that helps bring out the wave is thinning it. My brother has extreme wave pattern but once he gets past shoulder it appears "staight" when it's absolutely wavey, almost curly. Oh also I wanna add thinning helps with balding! He was developing a bald spot where his ponytail pulled was so I thin where the hair was being pulled...traction alopecia prevented.

blueBeanieboos TV: When I had short hair, I thought I had straight hair. When it grew out, I realized my hair falls more between 1b and 2b

Lovely Gamer: Glad I'm watching this now cause I'm in the awkward phase of growing my hair out lol. This video will save me time and effort thx

withelisa: This is so validating- my husband grew his hair out and it *could* look gorgeous, but he keeps refusing conditioner and styling products, still aggressively towel-drying like he did when it was short. Maybe he'll be more receptive if a man was telling him to dial in a more suitable routine haha

Tom: lengthwise i'm probably in the awkward stage but i've somehow managed to style my hair the right way. ironically, most people prefer my hair over the classic undercut i had back then

Cønnør J: My main problem is my hairline. I have pretty long hair, almost to the length I want it. But my hairline really makes me want to cut it all off. I'm not balding, but my mature hairline is wayy less than ideal. I have the same exact hairline as my dad, it looks like it's receding, but I believe that's just my mature hairline. Anyway, because of my hairline, I can't really do some stuff I wanna do with my hair because my hairline kinda ruins it. I see these guys with fantastic hairlines and it really lowers my self esteem.

S Lax: Didn't think about how long hair would require different treatment than long hair, really appreciate it

Little KARDING SUNGKIT: Actually I was thinking to cut my hair while walking on the street because it's annoying and unmanageable until I saw this video, I've been using lots of products to thicken my hair but nothing seems to work.

Lex Kek: Another tip would to wash your hair less often or just scrub with water. Many shampoos can easily dry out and irritate your scalp. I use to suffer from itchy and flaky scalp so I stopped using shampoo. My hair looks and feels better now. I do the bare minimum of care for it.

Sam Oliver: Yes! I have fine wavy hair, would love more tips!!

TommyTwobats: I buzzed my hair down to the skin for month, cos I'm thinning on the top and crown. While I love the feeling, I can't honestly say it is doing my face any favors. Now, I am wondering, could I grow it out - I mean, really grow it out? For a year! It is fine and pretty straight, and thinning on top. The bald patch on the crown is about 1-2 inches and I might just get a way with a comb back. So what do you recommend guys like me do? I will not go for monthly hair cuts, because although they do a great job, they ALWAYS make the bald spot look worse.. So I gotta STAY away from stylists and hair clippers.

vandell: Im afraid i might have that rare hairloss on the sides. My sides are just wild curls that barely grow, while everything else is slowly getting "long". I might just push through to december, and then get that setup maintenance cut.

Marco Picozzi: Best thing ever in my life? growing my hair! Cheers

Varity Topic: I used to have long hair before I lost it years ago. Most men will suffer hair loss at some time in their life and growing long hair on a badly balding head never looks good. The other thing from the years I've lived is you have to pick a style that fit your face and image. For example in the 80s we had the big hair and it looked horrible on me because big hair was more of a pretty or feminine look that doesn't go well with men that look strongly masculine like myself. When I grew my hair all one length(this means the bangs, the sides and the back are more in line with lenth) with facial hair that look 100% worked for me. You're correct there are many factors in growing long hair as a man, but I figured I'd mention a few other factors from experience.

Angles Sol: Man, I feel lucky to have such simple treatment. Just shower, shampoo, air dry and brush. I love my wavy, puffy lion’s mane.

Laughing Jack: Nailed it. Growing your hair long is work and hard work if you don’t take care of it.

Luca: I have so much fine hair and whenever I wash my hair, I pull my hair out unintentionally.. it pulls when my hair is wet. I can't even get to my hair and it pulls. I hate my hair type. Plus once it's dry... my hair is so frizzy and so dry and frizzy... it's so frustrating. My upper hair goes to my chin and when it's wet it just falls in my face... Others have shorter ones and their hair pulls back when it's wet. I think mine could go all the way to the floor and fall in my face. My hair type is just so frustrating

LuLu: Im just letting the awkward phase do its thing lol, im fine with looking a bit until it gets long enough

G Bellamy: Thank you for the expertise and encouragement. This video was really helpful.

lol stop: I may never grow my hair out ever again I definitely wished I had this video when I did.

rjr: My hair is now just past my shoulders and I've still never been able to wear it down. I tie it up everytime I leave the house because it's a complete mess. So frizzy and tangled I have no idea how to control it

nmercenary: 1:12 i was not ready for this. I laughed so hard He got the mane and the humour. Right on ✊

Abaddon: Yes please do a wavy hair tutorial. It would really help me. Thank you.

MUKAShIII: Me, an African man with hair so relentlessly curled I have to fight it so it looks decent, watching this video to learn how to keep flowing hair nice.

Alvaro: Part 2 & tutorial for wavy hair please!

I'm listening: At 65, I gotta say, men with long hair are beautiful! Guess it’s from growing up in the 60s and being a being a hippie!

Esquire Unlimited: I'm trying to grow my hair. your channel is my motivation

Bixxy.: i got medium long hair (often dry) and it would get wavy and wild in the wind, i followed your advice to use the cantu stay in conditioner and its fucking amazing thanks bro

Lemus: we need a wavy hair tutorial. I totally also thought i had pin straight hair, im 6 months in and there is many waves, i was so confused. lol

Jefty Storm: My hair is 4yrs+ bro and I didn't trim it.

mikeandike2021: Hey Travis so I have straight hair when some wave I don't know how much because I've never grown my hair out past the awarkward stage but my waves are pretty pronounced even with short hair would really appreciate a wave guide.

Desert Mermaid: Dunno why this popped up for me but I had looooong hair for most of my life. Here's some tips; eat healthy with plenty of collagen boosting foods, have at least one day between shampooing, put conditioner on the ends and focus shampoo on roots so when you rinse the ends stay hydrated, know your face shape, use a boar bristle brush if it suits your hair type, and get a great haircut with good texture that flatters your shape. I have coarse dense hair and razoring works great. Some layering works wonders for movement, volume, and weight even if you want a blunt cut. And if you're thinning topical rosemary is supposed to be as good as Rogaine. And avoid coloring grey unless you're willing to do the upkeep every week or so.
