I don't think i've trimmed my hair in over a year, it's grown quite a bit. I'M just gon na give myself a diva cut today: dry curl curl by curl. What dry, cut curl by curl cut on dry hair is what i'm trying to say. I haven't been to a hairdresser since i was 14, so it's been like almost 10 years, but i did go, get a slope press in november and then this happened a little bit heat damage, yeah, i'm going to section my hair and i'll be right back um. So i'm just gon na on the bottom, because i want to keep my length and then i'm just gon na work up and shape into a nice circle. Can you imagine no okay, so i honestly don't even know where to start this is my shortest piece in the bag, but like look, how straggly it is, can you see? Is it focusing like it's just so like stringy? I did it. The thing about cutting your own hair is that it's actually addicting and sometimes well. The last time i did my trim. I actually got carried away and i cut like a chunk too much see. So if you can see, i'm just going to show you the first, so you can see right here. It gets thinner. So i'm going to cut that off. I'M scared, i'm not actually never cut my hair dry. I'Ve always cut it wet, but i can't see the shape. I want my hair to be when it's wet, so i just figured i'd, try cutting it dry and i also have a lot of single strand knots that was too much whoops if the salons were open. I definitely would go get my hair cut because i do want a completely different shape and i've never done that before, but it's locked down. So i don't have that option, i'm so scared! I keep having to cut more off this piece and it just keeps getting longer whatever. Let'S keep it staying now, let's compare the sides, shall we? Oh, my goodness, this is the same amount of hair. Look at the difference. This side looks so much fuller. This is exactly what i want and i'm just going to keep this shape going up and round right now. My hair is just like this. I need this snip. I look amazing. My ends feel thick. Okay, so technically, i should be cutting more hair off like this way, but i'm scared, like honestly, i'm scared. I did this side. I haven't done this side cut a lot of hair off. That'S where my hair used to be i'm gon na. Take some hair that i already cut bring it up like this, and then i need to cut all this right to here. Oh my gosh, it's so short, hmm, the closer i get to the top of my head. The more scared i am to continue looks even to me. I need to cut even shorter right here, but i can't i just can't do it. I'M gon na leave that and then see if it looks fine until the end. Okay, last part is the front piece which terrifies me. I don't know, i honestly don't know what to do for this part of my hair. Do i cut it short, or do i just round it out again it's just too long. Okay, i think i'm just gon na cut and hope for the best um i kind of finished. I kind of didn't really cut a lot off the top. Like i said i was going to because i just can't go back and i'm just kind of scared. So i'm going to see how it looks like after my next wash and go and if, if it's still like not what i want some grab the scissors again start cutting this right here needs to go. You can see this right here. I didn't cut that. I need to snip snip and on this side i just need to take a little bit more like off the top from the back and then we're good. Should i cut it like this and have like a nice fro thing going on no well, so i ended up washing my hair the next day and it was a disaster like i was in the shower and it was just so uneven. I almost cried. I was like, oh my goodness, i destroyed my hair, so i had to go back in the next day and brush it out, wet and make sure it was all even because it was so bad hmm. So i still couldn't get the shape that i wanted like here, i'm like trying to rearrange it and then like getting frustrated so the next day after that i had to go in and blow dry it because it was just so choppy still, and i was like What is going on so i decided to blow dry my hair, and at this point i was so frustrated because i'm on my third day cutting my hair and you can see how frustrated i'm getting i'm so done. With this i got actually mad bruh, i'm stunned at how uneven it is. Hmm, i did it. I i can't believe i pulled it off. I can't believe my hair came out this good one that i can but yeah. That was a struggle for me. It was really hard actually to make it even and cut my own hair, even though i've been doing it forever, but i've never given myself like a such a change like in length like especially like up here like this was all like down here. So i was debating on giving myself bangs and i was like: oh should i do it. I don't know, and i did it and i love it. I don't know what's going on right now, like obviously this is severely heat damage, i'm pissed about it, but whatever i still need like more volume like back here this region, but i'm not ready to traumatize myself yet again trying to get the shape perfect back there. So i'm gon na wait until i do that and just let it what what is that i just washed my hair. So it's not like super voluminous right now, but i'll show you what it looks like when it's wet and then when it's like fully like day. Four volume um but yeah. I am super happy with how my hair came out. I'M so glad i didn't shave it off like doing a side by side comparison. Might it just frames my face much better? I don't know what i was doing with that dead hair, but it wasn't helping me thrive at all anyways. I don't know if you have any videos you want to see from me just leave it down in the comments and i'll see you guys. My next video bye

Arielle Eva: First of all the end result is amazing! But the thing about cutting your hair curly is it’s NOT gunna be even when it’s wet or blown out. Ya just gotta shape it dry and accept that it’s gunna look crazy in every other form lollll

Shauna Gaines: This is so relatable. I just spontaneously cut my curly natural hair into layers with bangs and I’ve been doing it for hours. Like wetting, drying, styling cutting repeat lol. End results will come together!

Elle F: Your final results look AMAZING! The stress was totally worth it haha.

Sharon Cullen Art: Oh my gosh! Looks so awesome. This is what I want. I won’t go get a devacut because I have seen the horror stories. I love yours. Now I have 2C/3a hair not tight coils but I love the shape. I’m sorry you went thru hell to get there but it turned out great!

Brit JJ: You did good! See this is why I prefer to get my type 4 hair blown out and flat ironed to trim my hair. I like the clean precise cut I get and my hair looks great both in the curly state and straightened.

Google User: We have similar hair types. I get frustrated with the shrinkage and always cut or perm it once it gets about armpit length. I’m trying to push through this time to see how long it will actually get

alwaysaroundproud: The results are great! Your hair came out so pretty and those ✨ curls ✨ Making even tiny cuts for curly hair just revitalizes it so much, great job!

L: As a hairstylist, they say not to pull curls when you cut. Just cut them as they are, but you can lift it up & cut just not a lot of tension.

01Angie10: Great job! I am blown away with the end result, especially the insane movement in your curls- do you remember what products you used back then?? It’s stunning!

Essence: The end result is absolutely amazing. I was stressed out and about to cry with you. I just got my hair cut and colored from a woman that I have been going to for 5 years and she has never jacked up my hair but did it for the first time last friday. It is so uneven and it needs to be fixed but I don't trust her to fix it again so I'm going to try to do it myself. I've trimmed my hair in the past before but nothing too crazy. I'll know when to stop though. Wish me luck.

Brit JJ: I just wanna add that you are absolutely stunning! Like a cross between YouTuber Luhsetty and Lisa Bonet.

Kiara Jackson: Hi!! I have a very similar hair type and curl pattern as you but am suffering from some damage as well! Your hair looks so good and healthy and I was wondering what products you use in your hair?

Life with Dilly: really enjoyed your personality would love to see more of you and you hair looks amazing

Vonnechi K: It really is addicting ive done 2 big chops in the last 3 yrs cant believe my hair has grown thicker longer and healthier each time ‍♀️ got my hair straightened smh so mad at myself and my current issue now heat damage after all that hard work no more heat from now on only straight wigs

Faith D.: So that first curl that you cut is literally my ENTIRE HEAD I need so much help with my hair lol literally embarrassed to say how long overdue I am for a cut BUT, thanks to videos like these & hours of curly hair research, I'm slowly but surely learning! Thanks for this video! I'll be using it as a guide

Kimtsugi: Dry cuts really only look good ONCE. Curls wanna be cut a uniform length so the ends of every curl fall together.  I know because I got 'em. Y'all can cut your own curls wet, with beautiful even results. Do it! Slooooowly. Do it!

Perky: Yes, cutting your own hair is very addicting. I love it.

VIOLET W: OMG!!! Faith I am obsessed! I absolutely love it!!!!!!!! gorgeous!!!!!!

edwina hutchinson: That is so me when I cut my hair and I’m here again looking for cutting hair tips

MissMargaret: I loooooove the shape. It’s so perfect for your beautiful face!

Cari Robinson: Curly cuts cost $200-$300 here in Cali and I have not found any that really immerse themselves in curly hair. The only curly specialists I know of that I would trust are on the East Coast or even overseas. So if I ever travel to the East Coast I will pay to get it cut. Until then I will be cutting at home.
