Hi I'm T Cooper, I'm in New York, City, makeup artist, hair stylist and co-founder of beauty and grooming company Metro. Look. Today we are going to talk about how to maintain the curl after a perm. Now, once you get a perm, the first rule of thumb is: do not wash your hair for at least 24 hours after you get the perm. That is the very first way to maintain the girl in your perm. The second way is that when you wash your hair, do not brush your hair, it's just natural that we want to brush our hair after we wash it to get all the tangles out instead opt for a wide toothed comb like this or you can find one Where the teeth are spaced even further apart and then you start from the tips and work your way up to the root and that won't disturb your curl as much another thing, you can do to make sure that you maintain your curl is to use the right Product in your hair here is my shadow, curl cream and it's fabulous for perms and it's also fabulous for people with naturally curly hair. But what this does is it really um takes the frizz out of their hair and it really helps the curl to form. So what you do is, after you wash and dry your hair, not dry, it all the way, but like towel dry, it just get the moisture out of it. You'D work the product into your hands, and then you want to Pat it through your head. You don't want to rub, because when you rub, you can make your curls frizzy and disturb the curl. You just want to like Pat it through from root to tip and then either take the wide toothed comb or use your fingers and just like work. The product, through your hair - and this is not a wash out product to leave it in your hair and it will help to shape your curls. But it also works really well on dry hair, like if your perm is looking a little frizzy and you just want to tame down the frizzies as well. That'S a great product. Another thing is when you're drying your hair do not dry your hair with a round brush or anything crazy like that, you need to use a diffuser. A diffuser looks just like this. It'S an attachment that you put on there. A lot of people have the other. The nozzle, but the diffuser is imperative. If you have a perm and what you would do is on your hair. While it's damp after you've gotten the moisture out, you want to place the hair on top of the diffuser you're going to be drawing from underneath, and then you just like hold it and you work it around. You don't do all this. You just want to let the curl do its own thing and you want it to form in the shape that it's supposed to form in it will not disturb the coral at all, and it will also give you nice for his free curls, so I'm tee Cooper. Queen Elizabeth: My hair stylist cut my hair afterwards, i think its in layers im not for sure. She switched from medium & small rods, at the moment it just looks like i braided it after the shower & took it out in the morning. I got my spiral perm yesterday, im hoping that when its time for me to wash my hair it will become curlier, maybe it's because of all this product she put in my hair who knows.
