For us shoulder-length gals, getting our hair to look thick and full in a bun is like looking for that favorite discontinued lipstick: almost impossible. And while the sock bun method has really helped us fake a fuller topknot, what if you don't want to add anything extra to your hair? Behold this full, thick bun that requires no sock, doughnut, or extensions. It's all your real hair, swept up in a pretty, messy-is-better bun. So what's the trick? Grab a comb, and get going.

Hey guys, I'm Kirby Johnson and if you have medium to shoulder-length hair, this top knot is for you we're going to teach you how to make it look really thick and full. The first step is to add texture to your hair. So it's easier to grip and easier to put into a ponytail, so use a texturizing spray or dry shampoo and put it all throughout your hair next brush through your hair, to get rid of any tangles or any knot. Next create your ponytail. You want to use a brush for this, so they can really smooth out your hair, and you want to make sure that the ponytail is at the center of the top of your head. Now it's time for the g's to create that really thick full texture to your hair, grab a comb and start to backcomb it as much as you can. Once you have your hair and it kind of looks like a mess you want to smooth out the top of it so that it doesn't look too messy, but you don't want to brush it out, because you still need that fullness then take your ponytail pull it To the front of your head and pin, then take the rest of your hair and wrap it around your ponytail holder, pinning with bobby pins. This step may take a few times to master, but once you do finish, it spray your hair with hairspray and use a comb to really smooth out any flyaways that you have that's how you create a really thick, pretty top knot for shoulder link to medium hair. I love this fun because if you don't have really thick hair, you can easily get it and it doesn't mean to be perfect. The Messier, the better I'm curving, we'll see you next time. You
