Easy Updo Hairstyle Long + Medium Hair Wedding, Prom, Bridal

Today’s hair tutorial is a cute & easy updo hairstyle for long & medium hair. This hairdo is perfect for a wedding, prom, bridal, bridesmaid, or wedding guest. This low bun is very simple yet beautiful, and to dress it up I added some pretty pearl hair accessories, and some fun pearl stickers. For updos I like to curl my hair with a 1.25” barrel, although we’re wearing our hair up, curling it will give it a softer finish. I wanted this updo to have a soft romantic finish, but it can also be recreated more sleek & chic depending on your preference.

I’d love if you left a comment letting me know what your thoughts are and if you tried it.

Don't forget to check out my blog and Instagram for images of each hairstyle!

Hello, everyone welcome back today. I want to share with you one of my favorite updos, it's so simple, yet beautiful and perfect for any special occasion now I know a lot of you had to postpone or cancel your weddings proms pretty much everything, but I'm hoping that this video can still provide You with some inspiration, because your special day is still coming, so let's just go ahead and get started all right for updos. I like to curl my hair with a one and a quarter inch barrel and although we're wearing our hair up curling, it will give it a softer finish now, since this is more of a formal updo, I recommend just gently teasing all of the hair around the Crown of your head and adding a small amount of texture powder to lock it into place and then just gently smooth down the top of your hair. Next to pro your hair, however, you like and pick up small pieces to frame your face, so I left on the curl at the front, which needs a trim, I'm tempted to do it myself, but I think I'll wait and then I pulled it. A curl from in front of my ear, which I'm just going to attack behind and then on the other side. I just pulled out a small curl in front of my ear. Now get your hair elastic, ready and loosely gather all of your hair from underneath to help maintain at that texture and curl. So hold your hair, where you want your bun to sit and then use a comb to get all of those neck hairs, and this will help polish. The look now secure your hair with a hair elastic and if you lost any of that volume, just gently pull on some small pieces of your hair to add some more next gently, smooth down your ponytail and it's time for the bun okay. So you want to loosely twist your ponytail clockwise about the rete four times and you don't want to twist it too tight, but just enough, so it sits in a soft twist like this. Next, take your left hand and pinch the top of your elastic with your index finger and thumb. This will act as the anchor and give your bun a nice shape then begin tightly, wrapping your twist counterclockwise over the top, while holding it firmly in place. With your other hand. Now, if your ends are still hanging out just twist them nice tight, so that the ends don't poke out and just continue wrapping them counterclockwise, underneath the bun until they're, tucked away okay hold your bun against your head and first secure ends with a bobby pin. Now, I'm going to show you how to bobby pin this bun, so it stays in place all night long, okay, my biggest secret. I love to use roller pins for updos they're about twice the size of a bobby pin and they hold so well to secure. Don'T open your pin just slide the end of your pin through the outside of your bun and then push them against your head and then slide them towards the center of your bun and then repeat again so slide through the outside of your bun. Push it against your head and then slide it towards the center, and it should already start to feel nice and secure so just repeat throughout the outside of your bun. And if you can get your pins to cross one another in the center, then that's even better, and if you want your bun to sit a little bit closer to your neck, just push it against your head and pin it into place all right lock. In the look with your favorite hairspray and shine spray, and then if you could add a hair accessory to help dress it up, I just use these little pearl bobby pins and I just think this hairstyle is absolutely beautiful, classic and best of all simple. Now I came across these pearl stickers and I thought they'd be a lot of fun to add and I applied them using a hair gel, but for something longer-lasting you could always use eyelash glue or extension glue, but it's actually held up quite well. I think these pearls would just make the hairstyle so unique and beautiful, but what do you prefer minimal, pearls or all the pearls? So there we have it. How simple and classic is this hairstyle? I love it so much and I really hope that you did too, but, as always, you can find pictures of the final look along with some more hair inspiration over on my Instagram, so be sure to check it out and give me a follow if you're not Following it yet, but I really hope that you liked today's video congratulations to all of you who are celebrating something special. This year definitely comment down below and let me know what you're celebrating and yeah. Thank you so much for watching everyone I'll talk to you next time. Bye,

Alex Gaboury: I know many of you have had to postpone your weddings, proms and special occasions, but I’m hoping this video can still provide you with some inspiration because your special day is still coming. ❤️

Missy Sue: Beautiful, Alex

Mithila D: I love it that you showed how you styled the hair at front. Everyone avoids that!!!

Trish Pipkins: This is such a beautiful hairstyle and so easy! I love lots of pearls. Also you can totally trim your front piece. Just trim an inch and you'll see it's not scary at all. I've learned to cut my own hair and the least scary part is fixing the ends of my front. If one part starts looking a bit scraggly or is so long it's bothering me I just snip it.

Nastja G.: This is such a beautiful hairstyle, I love it. It looks so elegant... Thank you for this great video! Btw: you are really beautiful, I like you ❤️

Rae Hope: I'm getting married in June if everything opens back up. I may have to do much smaller at home ceremony. Can you do a half up, half down wedding style? I may have to do it myself, because of social distancing. I still want to look beautiful.

Hailey Green: I love this hair style!!!!! Soo beautiful thank you for this!!!

Ashley Soh: Wow you are stunning <3<3<3 Thanks for the tutorial I will give it a try!

Fernando Freire: Hi! I'm growing my hair. Any advice to keep it manageable during the awkward stage? Tanks!

Elizabeth Yates: I love this so much!! I want to try the peared look! I'll be true to tag

Hannah: just an idea: can you do some easy work-out hairstyles? I have super long hair (reaching the butt) and I find nothing secures them when I work out...

Kristi Gibson-Cormier: Alex! I love all the pearls.. So beautiful and elegant.. The pups and I are having a p.j. day. Have a wonderful day
