Today, we're chatting about doing your hair YOUR way and not concerning yourself with what other people think. There are so many beauty standards and naysayers nowadays that try to dictate what is "in" and what "isn't". It is so important to feel confident in your own skin and present yourself in ways that generate happiness for no one but you. I hope my brief tutorial and discussion can help you embrace the hairstyle that makes you smile each time you look in the mirror

Hey, it's really great to see you this week. I gave today's video some good thought and it has really turned into a little bit of self-analysis, a little bit of styling and a little bit of pep talk and it's about hair and having the hair that you want and desire to feel great about you to Have a great hair day, all the time to follow your heart, your passion and your desires when it comes to how you choose to present yourself. What made me think about this? I was a part of an interview today for a local online magazine and it was on fashion. We were talking about style and how you feel when you're put together in a way, that's pleasing to you. You have confidence, you've chosen, something that you know suits your face, your body, your bone structure, your personality, everything how you choose to present yourself, what your style is, it's the thing or the combination of things that when you walk out the door, you just feel like. Yes, this is me, this is who I am. There is something very powerful about putting on something that makes you feel great. I would say the same if not more holds true, for what we do with our hair. Hair is deeply psychological. A lot of it stems. No pun intended from childhood experiences. Words spoken over us being told that we're beautiful because of our hair. Therefore, we feel, as we age and mature and change it or it changes on us. We are losing our Beauty. Many of us have been told that we're only beautiful because we have hair and heaven forbid, we should cut it, we'll lose that beauty. Maybe those are words that you've spoken over yourself and it's funny, because you know we women in midlife. I think about that term. Midlife crisis, you know and there's that joke that men when they hit their midlife crisis, they go out and get a sports car and women go cut their hair. I don't quite see all of this as a crisis. I see it as finally I'm having an opportunity to do what it is that I want to do and what reflects and represents me. So why does the guy get rid of the sedan or the Suburban and get the sports car because the kids are out of the house? And finally, he feels like he can channel the young guy inside the guy from way back when rolled the windows down. Take the top down and go have a great time on the road and crank the music up. Well, the same thing goes for women and I think what happens is we get tired of being a certain way? Looking a certain way being dutiful, we hit midlife, we go through a lot of changes. We go through hormonal changes, we go through physical physiological, psychological, big changes, our hair changes. The way we see ourselves will change. Sometimes our family Dynamic will change, sometimes how we feel inside our own skin changes, and we oftentimes in this time feel compelled to do something. I have started this platform because I encourage you to do something. My something is not your something, your something is not my something. I'Ve always been a risk taker. I have always been a change Seeker. If you've read my book, you know it started at age 12 and hasn't changed. Yet you know I that's my thing. It may not be your thing, but what I'm sitting here and doing is I'm asking you if there is something calling to you strongly saying: try it do it? What, if and you're, sitting back and you're, holding back because of reservation, hesitation, fear of judgment, fear of lack fear of knowing what to do fear of not feeling as valuable as beautiful the what ifs? I really want to get you out of that modality. I think change is great. I think change gives us the opportunity to see things differently and to learn differently to learn different skill sets to maybe, if we don't like things to Value other things in ourselves, instead of what we have valued or the discovery of something. Even better, more amazing, more beautiful, easier, less hassle, whatever look at the whole going gray phenomena that took place during coven, nobody had access to beauty, salons a lot of people, let their natural hair grow in they found it liberating. It became of movement to go gray. In fact, I can't tell you how many comments direct messages I get from women saying. Are you going to let your natural gray come in, and the irony is is that this is actually my natural color for the first time since I think I'm a young girl, I've, let my natural hair color come in. I'Ve got a few like straggly Grays here and there that I paint with a little root touch up, but all of this all of this, for the first time in my life, as you can see, is all me. It'S all a dark, dark brown who knew. I thought I was more ashy. I thought I was lighter turns out, I'm not so this is my gray movement. Okay, this is me going natural and you know short medium. Whatever you've you've seen me do a lot of different things. I will tell you that in my life, in my personal life, the people who have been in my life have most certainly had their preferences and they've. Let it be known that they've had their preferences, and I've had to really formulate a very valid and strong opinion about myself and my self-esteem to override those comments. Those thoughts, knowing that the other person at any particular phase or stage wasn't happy with any particular phase or stage and didn't quite see me as beautifully as they did in another phase or stage that takes some strength, and that takes some character to be able to Do what you want, try what you want knowing it may not be pleasing to all people, most importantly, knowing it may not be pleasing to you and then what are you going to do? You know I have dumped about a hundred hair tutorials on my channel. For that very reason, I want to show you, through red blonde brown, honey color. You name it that there are so many different colors Styles ways of doing things, but I want you to break out of your rut and show you that anything and everything is possible. If it's speaking to you, if it's speaking to you and it's important, I think to dig in our heels and just say you know what this change this moment is for me and it may not be something huge. It may be a subtle change. It may be graduating to something, but it's the action, it's the initiation. That is empowering that's strengthening, and I think that we feel so often at this phase in our lives sort of caught in between kids leaving parents aging, you know examining our relationships, examining our careers everything's being examined and analyzed. This is a way more stressful time than I ever ever thought it would be, and I find there to be an immense amount of joy and empowerment in doing and making these little micro decisions. For me now to me it's a micro decision, because I have done it all my life to you. It could be a macro decision. It could be a big time move, but maybe just maybe a subtlety or something very powerful could be what you need in your life at the moment to be able to bring you closer to who it is. You are as a person. Maybe you just need to go, get yourself a fancy red sports car and not do a dang thing with your hair, or maybe you need to start playing and experimenting. Here'S one thing that I know as somebody who has very short hair right now. It is not limiting at all. Now you may be saying all right, you know. Yes, I want to go short, but I don't have this or I don't have that or I don't have the right bone structure. I don't have the right neck or I don't have the right this or that, yes, we are all. We are all different, but we all have assets and we all have strengths. So I've got fine super kinky, crazy hair and I constantly have to manage it with heat. To get it to behave. You may have super Sleek, thick, fabulous hair that you could literally wash let air dry and it hangs perfectly. I am not that person, so that's your strength, so for you maybe a cut a nice clean classic Bob that isn't a lot of work and that could naturally dry. That way is super easy for you. Maybe your hair is too thick to go. This short, maybe your hair is getting thinner and you need some shorter layers in there to create some thickness and some volume. What I'm saying to you is this talk it through with somebody who's, an expert in the field. Let them look at you discuss it. Have a conversation talk about options hold up different hair colors. You can even go to a wig store. Try on different color wigs see how you look in different colors talk about your hair type. Talk about your commitment to what it is that you want to do. Are you looking for low maintenance? Are you looking for a little bit more maintenance to be able to create your look flush it out like anything in life? We do our research, we spend our time we analyze and then we make calculated rational decisions. This isn't about being irrational. This isn't about a whim. This is about making a change but making an intelligent, informed type of a change, and so here I am with very short, naturally dark brown hair, the antithesis of the blonde bob from a year ago - and you know what I like it - I love it. I love me, and I love me as a blonde. I love me as a brunette. I love me as a redhead I can be at all and it's creative experimentation and it's not tied into my self-esteem and if there's anything that I can impart today is that you are not a hairstyle and it doesn't Define you and don't ever let anybody in Your life Define you by the color of your hair or the way you choose to wear it. Just like the way you choose to dress and clothe yourself. It is your preference, your expression, your ability to put out into the world how it is that you wish to be perceived and how it is that you will be received, think about it, pray about it and act on it, and I want to show you just A few things as well that you can do to take the limits off of your ability. I have the Dyson Pro hair dryer with this incredible attachment. I don't know if you've seen this before or in my last hair tutorial, but if you have crazy, kinky, curly hair and you want straight smooth, silky hair. This is like vacuuming it and making it straight short hair. Where do you see all the different ways? I can wear it little pixie little pixie dust, super sleek, super straight, oh and who said short hair is for old women. They don't look all that old to me now. Let'S redirect a Sleek night out black dress, beautiful jacket, something with a high collar showcase, jewelry, hair slickback, it's as if you have a ponytail, my few Grays coming in right in there, that's where they are just a few okay coming out of the slick back. Look, we now do a deep side, part get a round brush regular attachment on your blow dryer, let it cool tuck this back, bring that forward push it forward in the back, set it foreign and then check out this fun. Little thing flat. Iron by taimo has a fan in it while it Heats your hair, it cools it at the same time now, just flip it back. Thank you make it sort of like wings, especially here on the front power off simple, Shake a little texturizing spray, and suddenly your hair just grew funny how that works. So here's the moral of the story today you do you, you do you whatever that looks like if you are a long-haired woman with fabulous healthy, amazing hair, go for it, celebrate it, be authentically you. If something is calling you to do something different to change, to try honor it try it conquer that fear, learn from it Grow from it, celebrate it celebrate what is stirring inside you. Take those steps be true to who you are. Don'T let anybody tell you or how you should be? Sometimes we have to be truthful with ourselves as to why we do what we do. Is it really for us, or is it to please others and there's nothing wrong with pleasing those in your life that you love, but are you allowing them to dictate how you need to be in order to be loved? That'S the question that I'm asking you today go out, be bold and be blessed I'll see you next Thursday.

Tina S.: After 20 years (give or take) with a pixie, and at age 65, I decided to grow it out. It's almost shoulder length now, and I'm loving it! I'm having fun playing with it and rediscovering myself after finally being free of 40+ years in an abusive marriage. For the first time in ages I'm finding I'm not the goofy-looking person I was told I was, that I really am intelligent, thoughtful, creative, compassionate, and yes, beautiful person. Who knew?! My newfound confidence is increasing daily and is, I am told, the thing that makes me the most attractive to others. Loving it!

Emily Connell: I’m 38 and am a recent breast cancer survivor. My hair is growing back. It’s about an inch long currently. Although I am really thankful for my renewed health and hair growth, I have never felt more unattractive. I clicked this video in order to get some ideas what to do with this hair of mine but got so much more from this video! ❤️❤️

Davena Hickmon: One of my favorite things to say to someone "you do you." It's very good advice, thanks for reiterating this, Dominique. Also, Don't try to be someone you're not, that's no fun, for you or the people around you. We have to learn to live for ourselves.

Jenny Freeman: Dominique, this is such an important topic and one I can totally relate to. I’ve been told recently (by someone who should know better) “You were better looking with long hair” and it did knock my confidence for a minute. But I’m 48 years old and I’m most certainly not about to grow my hair to please someone else!!

JD West: You are the reason I finally got brave enough to cut my hair a few months ago! It’s been the best decision!! I keep going shorter and shorter, and it keeps getting better! Thank you for the inspiration!

Diane Short: You’ve never looked better! Hair, makeup and message are sheer perfection.

Rogeria Britto: Well, let’s make it clear here: we also do LOVE YOU!! You are amazing in and out, someone REAL and so so lovely! Thank you for being YOU!! ❤️❤️❤️

Kelly T: Hi Dominique. I loved this video! I’m transitioning to my natural color with lots of gray! I have been empowered by this process. I just turned 60 and I am finally embracing where I am in life! I’ve gotten both positive and negative comments and each one makes me more happy with my decision to be me! Thank you for the pep talk! Perfect timing! God bless!

Turra Gorman: Dominique we get stuck in ruts. Hair, clothing, make up even what we do everyday. Basically, we quit growing and learning about ourselves because it just gets to hard. Your message is so spot on, and challenges me to check in on myself. I am retiring in 6 weeks and after 40 years of running full throttle I am finding myself exhausted. About a month ago, I felt that still small voice say time to practice healing. Thanks to you, I got in with my MD and getting long overdue blood panel, doing more Yoga and meditation and less Boot Camp style workouts. I got to tell you, my body is recovering in very short time and my ego is taking a back seat to allow my body to speak. I am stepping out to please myself and loving me a whole lot more. You are a beautiful soul. Keep up that positive messages

Lisa Farmer: I love that you can take a conversation about mundane things and elevate it with a lot of meaning, depth and empowerment!

Rosalind Clayton: After YEARS of wearing basically the same hair style, give or take very minor changes, I decided after seeing one of your videos to go for a pixie cut. My hair usually has been a blunt cut with length just below my ears, so this was a real change for me. Fortunately I have found a stylist that knows what she's doing, so 8 weeks ago a pixie is what happened! I'm 71 years old & many say I look a lot younger, they are just being kind I'm sure, but I cannot believe the transformation in my look since going with the pixie. It has taken years off my face & I have had unending compliments! I'm due for a trim next week & will be thrilled to tell my hairdresser what a huge difference it has made. Thank you SO much for all you have taught us, there's no doubt that how you look reflects on how you perform & get through your day, even if there have been issues! God be with you Dominique & thanks again!!

Lesley Cox: This path you are on right now is truly beautiful. So insightful, gentle, kind, it’s a word for our times x

Lori Rathbun: I LOVE that you are adventurous! I love that you don't let others opinions of the phases you pass through, penetrate your determination to continue to try new things and love yourself as you are. If every woman could grasp this reality and not allow others response to our pursuits to deter us from the mission of loving ourselves we'd all be in a better place. Thanks so much for sharing you!!

Joanne Neal: I'm 57 and still learning about all of this! I was married to a man that truly dictated everything in a quiet, manipulative way. When I would cut my hair he would say something every single day until the change he wanted came about. I have been away and on my own since 2008 and yet I still find myself falling into patterns created when I was with him. It takes a while and constant honest uplifting self-talk but I am getting there!!!!! Thank you for your authenticity here on your channel and in your book.

JoAnn Tripp: This was so timely for me. Have been thinking and praying about cutting my hair❤️ I am at a real cross roads in my life right now and questioning everything it seems. I am going for it! Thank you for your wisdom and willingness to share your heart!!!!

Amy Patterson: This is a very powerful message for everyone thank you so much for reminding us to be bold

Chelsa Brinkman: This is a very “get real” talk that we don’t have enough. After 43 years, I cut my hair after watching another one of your “go for it” hair videos, and I loved it. I was also surprised at how quickly it grew back out, which was comforting… but you know what I did? I cut it again. It’s growing out again and I feel so much more free, knowing I can pull off anything I want to try. So thank you!

calefty71: I'm a 43 mom of 3 girls I have a black pixie with copper bangs I love it I do what I love no matter the comments ☺️. Be your authentic self!! Thanks Dominique for being your authentic self ❤️ and helping us ladies feel comfortable in our own skin.

Kathy R: Loved this. I went and did my make up while listening to you. Just to feel better since work day isn’t going the best. Im trying to figure out a new hair style since I’m bored so this was great timing to encourage me to do it.

Nina: Thank you Dominique. Always appreciate the words of wisdom. I was in a relationship in which I constantly allowed him to dictate who I was. After we separated, I figured out who I was and embraced it.

Cindy's Cozy Cove: Thanks Dominique. I just chopped my hair in July- I’ve worn it long, short and everywhere inbetween. My family always supports me and loves me and I feel confident no matter what the hairstyle or hair color. I appreciate this video so much. ❤❤❤

Renee Taylor: What a fantastic message today!!! It applies to so many areas of life. Thank you for putting this out there! I, for one, certainly needed to hear it.

molly hayes: Thank you, Dominique! This was so timely as I recently got “accidental bangs” as I like to call it. I’d resolved to pinning them back for the next year, but felt encouraged to embrace the new look. I needed to hear this today, thank you! I love love your hair right now. ❤

All Squared Up: When I “went grey” I was shocked to have a color come in that totally surprised me. What isn’t grey is so dark! I am so loving how it fits with my face. I absolutely adore being my natural color.

Laura Lynn: Our girl Dominique talking to us like she knows us today. I’m here for it.

Sandra Batchelor: Dominique, I'm well passed middle-age ( 70's) but I have always felt that I must be authentic and be myself. Not everyone has agreed with my choices. So I did a little "pretzel" twisting to please. Never again! Thank you for being you! You inspire me!

Jeanie Markel: This is my favorite look of yours!! I'm glad you had the courage to embrace your natural hair color and the short pixie style. It looks wonderful!!!

Bacon Grease Goddess: Yes!! “You are not a hairstyle” spoken by a true Queen. ❤

Vicky Purvis: Amen Dominique! I hope you realize what a positive impact you are making in womens lives all around the world. We women ARE MORE than just our hair and looks! You do you! ❤

kathykoutsioukis: I have fought frizzy hair my entire life. It has been short twice in my life: once when I got my friends to streak it and I looked like Cruella Deville and another time when a hairdresser burned it. I love change, but I was terrified my hair was going to be an uncontrollable disaster short. Last spring, because I thought short hair looked so flattering on you, you convinced me to go to a good salon and cut it short It was one of the best things I've ever done. I love your hair tutorials.

Ariana Casey: First, let me say, I love your new lash look - very flattering. Second, I appreciate that you encourage everyone to be their best selves. Thank you.

Jenni Y: I’ve been much more adventurous with my hair thanks to you!! Experimenting is fun and so nice to break out of the rut. Wonderful message here... thank you, Dominique!

Denise Henry: ❤thank you for brightening my day…. Just been going thru a funk for a couple of months. Your video really made me smile. I absolutely love all your looks! I want to go short again after seeing your hair! It’s fantastic! ❤

Nathalie Landry: Great video. I had a tendency in my past relationship to keep my hair the way my partner wanted it. Of course he preferred long and blond...but I'm a natural brunette (dark one as well) and I prefer shorter. So when it was long it was very often tied up. Now, being in a new relationship with someone that finds me beautiful regardless of the color or length of my hair. Yes, of course he has his preference, but he always says "whatever makes you feel good is what matters". He's the best. ❤ Oh and you look great in all color and length. You are a beautiful woman :)

Simple Beauty By Susie: Dominique if you only knew how much I’ve been struggling with my hair or “crown” this last year. One year ago after my niece my trusted hairdresser moved, I had to go to another salon for my simple procedure of baby lights for root touch up and low lights for definition. 2.5 hours with bleach on which should have been 15-20 minutes My hair melted and fried into rope like knots, with no accountability of stylist, my perfectly long, healthy hair had to be cut ear length as the solve, not by her someone I trusted, my Husband cut what we nick named the hair turds! Haven’t had short hair since Kindergarten I found a new stylist that shaped what my poor husband cut out with a box cutter!!! I’m just now getting used to it and it is growing in beautifully thank the Lord! But it WAS my identity and I’ve tried my hardest to embrace it and be playful! Much much much thanks to you ❤ couldn’t thank and love ya more!!! PS I’m about to be 60 and people think I’m in my 40s now

Candy Garcia: I finally had the courage to cut my hair, My hair is thinner due to aging and I have a pixie thanks to your inspiring video through the years ❤ I feel beautiful, sassy and classy God created only one of me. Love you and your are a phenomenal woman of God!!!!

Donya Taylor: You are so beautiful!!! Thanks for your encouragement! My hair is growing back after cancer. After wearing wigs through the summer, I finally decided to wear my hair as is. I told myself, this is a part of me! I proudly walk around with kinky curlie hair now rocking it!

YouTube user: I'm a natural blonde, bright cool blonde with blue eyes and I went darker a couple of years ago and I mentally could not handle it. I felt dark inside myself. I was so uncomfortable. I grew out and got trims and got highlights until all the dark was gone. No amount of compliments could have kept it dark. It's not me. I definitely know that now. I admire and love other people's dark shiny beautiful hair!!! It's gorgeous...on them!!!

Jennifer Corso: I always enjoy your hair videos! When my dear friend lost her hair from chemo, my views of hair & identify were definitely affected. She was one of the most beautiful & dear women I ever knew & loved without a hair on her head! But now she's healed & enjoying heaven

Pat Windon: Thank you Dominique for all you do!

Lori Kamp: In my 30's and early 40's my long, beautiful hair was my identity. It is what made me feel pretty. Then at the age of 42 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Seriously one of my first questions I asked my Doctor was "Am I going to lose my hair" The answer was a definite yes. I had to learn that I could be beautiful with no hair at all. Now when I talk to women who are going through the BC journey and are going to lose their hair I tell them this "When your hair is gone, go to the mirror, look into your eyes. The eyes are the window to the soul. You are beautiful, you are strong, you got this, hair will never define you". My hair has long since grown back but it does not define me and I have done several colors, some good, some not so good, either way I am still beautiful and strong. Thanks for this video, it spoke to me. You are gorgeous.

Roseanne Dickson: Thank you so much for all you do for us women! Just love you Domique! I have had my hair highlighted for years....my next hair appt I will go back to my dark brown hair. I just watched your video...and yes..we should wear our hair for our likes and no one else's.

Cheryl Bond: I Love the message Dominique! And Btw, I've Never seen you with "bad" hair! And I've always thought that I wish I could be there adventurous w/ my own hair! But like you stated, we all need to do what works for us! You always have such inspiration & words of wisdom that we can all use. Thanks for all you do!

ZoeZigZag: Im 48 and only just discovered tape in hair extensions and it has changed my life! Forever listening to women saying we shouldnt have longer hair at my age but I decided im done with caring about what other people think!!! Its so liberating

Brenda Graybill: Oh, if you only knew how I needed this at this point in time. Thank you as you have deeply inspired me! Love this video and the reminder of “you do you” and try new things and I must remember to not be afraid of failing at least you tried it! You only fail if you didn’t try it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this reminder and inspiring me today!

Lynda M: Thank you!! I let my hair go natural about 22 years ago way before it was IN! My hair is white and I chose to wear it LONG. I am 77 and I get the looks and even comments that I should cut it and/or color it blond. I told one lady I don’t want to be blond I love my white hair. No doubt she thinks I’m crazy nevertheless I feel right …just as I am…. my authentic self. By the way I do get lots of compliments from men they seem to like it. Who knew?

Ivana Jurisic: You are like a big sister to me. You inspire me and your advices are always spot on. It's not just about beauty, it's so much more and I really appreciate your help! Thank you! I have to ad, you look stunning, just glowing!

Angela Bucciarelli: Thanks Dominique! I am 60 with blue black thick hair. People always ask me if I color my hair and don’t believe me when I answer them. It’s very frustrating. As I get older I’m finding I really don’t give a s*** what people think. Me doing me!

Catherine Lightsey: ♥️Love this, Dominique! I jumped on the "go gray" wagon years ago when my first streaks were coming in. That was quite a journey of self discovery and freedom. Now, 15 yrs later at age 57, I have a color appointment scheduled for Monday and I can't wait! Really never thought I'd do that again but, you know what? It's time for a change and just making the decision has energized me! I love your videos! Thank you for sharing so much and encouraging authenticity. I always am so encouraged and touched by your videos! God Bless you♥️

Rose Plata: Thank you Dominique! I just turned 53 and I cut my hair short and embraced my curls. My hair is wild and I love it! Thank you for the encouragement. You speak the things we silently think that’s why we love you!

Patricia Levy: You look great and I am thankful for yet another powerful video who inspires us! That tool is impressive, who knew?Keep shining ✨️ Dominique!

Angela Thompson: Been rocking my pixie cut for years and just recently started dying my dark brown hair to platinum gray! I get the most compliments about my hair & I look at least 20 years younger. Do it for yourself and do not care what anybody else thinks.

Luca: Way to go Dominique Stunning Love your confidence!

Joanna Butenko: Thank you for this video ❤ I was getting my hair cut while this video came out and just got a chance to watch! You are my ultimate hair inspiration and reason why I went from super long to longer pixie. I love your sweet calm positive nature. You are like the sister or good friend you want to hear on a tough day. I have had some rough patches recently and so look forward to hearing from you. I was also one of those woman who thought my hair defined me- it was really liberating to finally cut it! ❤

Peaches Skin Care: Dominique I agree with so much of what you say. I just wish women would love who they are and stop trying to be someone else. Also don’t give up as you age I feel better at almost 57 then I ever have. Maybe it is accepting the process and caring more about how I eat, and care for my body, mind and spirit. I have long hair, allowing my grey hair sparkle and loving it. You look just stunning Great video Dominique Lisa

Sherry A: I've actually grown my hair out and learned to curl it in the way I love... I've been really short before and it's always an option for the future but right now this 52 year old is loving her longer hair! absolutely agree, you do you! :)

Maria Hindman: Dominique, thank you for sharing your strong, empowering message today! I'm blessed to have watched.

Shine Brightly: Do YOU! Celebrate YOU! I was just thinking this morning that I want to stop coloring my hair, and be natural. You’re always encouraging. Thank you Sister ❤

J'Nelle Lance: Always so inspirational! I have seriously been debating cutting my hair short since i stopped dying it last November. I was so scared and worried for so long but once I did it I just committed to it. I have been shocked at how ok I have become. There has been a few naysayers but I always just brush it off and realize they are scared just like I once was! I do have to admit my husband has been extremely supportive and is constantly telling me he loves my grays coming through. Thank you for sharing your beautiful perspective! Xoxo ❤

Rebe Frazier: Thank you for this video. Just got my haircut into pixie again and again, I love it too! Most of my family like it a little longer, but I have so much fun styling it quickly and easily. My only worries w/short hair is being a little conscience of the curve on the back of my neck or Dowager’s hump they call it from bad posture over the years. Thinking of getting my 1st tattoo there if I get the nerve. Thanks again.

Effie Kyriacou: Amen sister! You inspired me a few years ago and I cut my long locks into a long pixie and I loved! Since then I have been torn between letting it grow again but it just didn't feel right. Then I saw your recent hair styling tutorial and I called my stylist for an appointment. Now I am feeling the "freedom" you talk about in this video for a second time as I now have an even shorter pixie and OMG it is me!!!!! God bless you for speaking your truths, being vulnerable to help us all as a true friend/sister does! You helped me shine for a second time. Thank you and love you xxx

Renee Baker: Dominique you give me such inspiration. This past year I have changed makeup after watching your tutorials. No more mascara on bottom lashes. I think it helps to not have focus in dark circles. Took a while to get used too but sticking to it. Thank you for all your wisdom.

Bee Your Best: I just recently went back to my natural hair color, and it's the same dark brown as yours. My hair is so shiny and healthier than it was with highlights. I think I will keep it this way!!

Rana Messler: This video was awesome…I recently retired and am seeking new hobbies meeting new peopleas well as enjoying spending time with loved ones. You were my 1st you tuber that I followed and you continue to inspire me! I recently watched and rewatched your pixie video .. I am a short hair girl but that video inspired me to style my hair differently and I am loving it! Thank you for sharing and also love your style!

G C: This inspirational message couldn’t have come at a better time, I will let your words simmer and use them for the hair change that I have so long wanted to do. thank you for being a beautiful women on the inside and out. Wish we were neighbors, have a blessed day.

Aymee Levario: This year I will turn 50 and I find myself reflecting more and more on who I am, where I am going, what I like. For the first time in my life my opinion of myself is the loudest voice in my head. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, they echo the thoughts of so many of us who just want to be our true, authentic, and happy selves❤

Mimi: Thank you for this video. I have very long hair with no style. Everyone loves it but I do not. I’m 60 years old and everyone tells me I will look older. You have motivated me to make a change. ❤️

mandysworldxo: A much needed video for me!! I wear a bob and I'm a tall plus size woman. Thank you for inspiring me to DO YO!!

Jackie Brown: This is so true. I have always worried about what others think. Little by little I have changed. Freedom. Thank you! ❤️

Polly G's Beauty Guide 50+: Hi Dominique, thank you so much for this message. It came at the perfect time. I have been hesitating on something because of how it will be received, and the fear of the unknown. Because of this video and your message, I am going to move forward with it, because I FEEL it! Thank you so much!

Amy Bosse: Thank you for this! You nailed it! Exactly how I am feeling these days. I am almost 53 and a year ago I colored my hair for the last time. Got tired of being a slave to my roots every 2 weeks and absorbing chemicals through my scalp. My husband is getting used to it, but wasn't totally on board. Mind you he is completely gray, I call him my silver fox I really would like to go short to get the rest of the color off my ends, but I know he won't love that, but it's something I have been thinking about for quite some time. I actually have a haircut scheduled today...just maybe you have given me the guts to try! It's only hair, rift, lol

Laurie S: I am 50 and still think about how badly I was teased as a young girl about my naturally curly hair. Growing up I had to learn how to straighten my hair in order to ‘fit in’. In my mid twenties, and for years after, I have done all sorts of different cuts and colors. However, for the last 13 years I have let my hair grow and I feel beautiful with my long, golden brown hair that I have to color as I was predisposed to premature graying hair. At this time in my life I DON’T want to go gray, but when I AM ready, I will! I have also learned to embrace my natural curls and wear them when the weather is super humid, gives me and my strands a break from the heat!

Janice Brito: This video was two things: Simple and Intense!! Thanks Dominique♥️

Maggie H: Thank you, Dominique!! You are so loved by your viewers. This was just what the doctor ordered for me right now. Attending 50th high school reunion on Saturday. The first that I've ever attended. One good thing is that I still wear a size 10 dress! Thanks again for your videos!

Brooksie Doodle: This video was super inspiring! Looking forward to my haircut on Saturday. My hair is fairly long but I cut it myself during covid, so it's a bit raggedy. I'm taking 3 inches off and happy that someone who knows what they're doing will be fixing my hair ‍♀️

Trish Bliss: You made such a great point when you suggested that what is often mistaken for a midlife "crisis" is in fact a great awakening to explore possibilities that were in our earlier years simply not an option. You are such an inspiration to all, especially women, to live a bold, authentic life. You are beautiful inside and out

Irish Marie: Yesssss! This video needs to be watched by all women of all ages. I’m always amazed by how many people (friends, family, coworkers, and the man/woman we date) think or assume that it’s ok to tell a woman what THEY think looks best on them. Is it YOUR head? Lol. And did I even ask you to tell me your opinion? I will ask a hair stylist, yes, because they have the expertise to give me an expert’s opinion. Most people need to just keep their opinions to themselves. I was raised to be kind and supportive. Anyone telling me what looks bad on me needs to go reflect on themselves, as it’s usually their own insecurities that cause them to make unsolicited comments.

Kricket Cypriano: I was a “rebel” new wave kid in the 80’s and loved it. Fast forward 31 years and asymmetrical pixie bob is for me. Bold color and big earrings! Y’all do what you feel!

Joann Lindsey: Natural hair color and like I've told you, good God it's beautiful. We talk ourselves into being what other people want us to be. Not what we want. Then we just don't give a crap anymore. You need to realize you give us the hope and reality, that we need to be what we want. Thank you for saying what we think but are programmed to ignore. That short, dark hair on you is WOW.

whati experiencedat: Amazing! I did me a few years back in 2015. My husband made it clear over the next couple of years he was not happy. I stuck to me and today my husband has grown and accepted the change. Thanks for your insightful, powerful videos.

Valo Dimopoulou: I have just had a new hair color, going from light blonde to dark blonde and a shorter bob haircut,it feels great just renovating yourself inside out. There is something on the outside that makes you feel your best in the inside. In fact I have had people in my life that were commenting that it could be better without fringe. I replied " well, don't cut a fringe on your own hair" ,having this little piece of hair there makes me feel good, it is me, I love it and just shutting ears to the comments liberates me.

Cathy Ols: YES!! Love this message♥️. I have always worn my hair short — thank you for validation!

Ohhhhh Pickles!!!: This video was right on time and thank you so much. I was one who went gray over Covid and went very short. I get a ton of compliments on it and I realize people pay a lot of money to get the mixture I have naturally, but I can't help feeling I'm pushing my age along. I'm 58. I've been wondering if I should start dying it brown but I think I'm just gonna add a few brown highlights to those I already still have and see how that goes. Someone in Mary Kay told me if you don't get compliments at least every couple weeks on your hair you need to dye it, cut it or get some more of it. :) I've always remembered that and I always get compliments so I've kept it. It is the easiest I've ever had and I do love it I think. I do feel unattractive due to some weight I've put on but I'm pushing throughput it with knowledge I've gained here and the fact of learning to be free in the skin I'm in. I can't say thank you enough for giving us the valuable talks and training. I feel confident in using peach, wearing v necks and learning to find out who i an, what i do like and doing me. Priceless.

tish dish: Loved this video❣️Thank you Dominique You hit the nail right on the head,I’ve also had the experience of feeling the need to dress & have my hair a particular way. Never ever EVER again,I now do me how I like & I feel so liberated. I love your way of thinking sweet lady

Sasha: I love your hairstyle Dominique! Yes, I agree that your style is what helps you to feel like you are projecting what you want to project into the world. Thank you for reminding us that we should feel free to be who we are! Beautiful just the way we are!

Shelley Lading: I love your videos and look forward to watching them every week. However, I have never commented until now. I have been struggling with what I want to do with myself, hair, my style. Or lack of. but after watching this video, I’m just going to do it. I don’t care what others think. Thank you for that push I needed. ❤️

1960genius-Tina: Dominique! OMG! This is my favorite video of yours next to the "How to be and stay classy" video. I've been "thinking" about doing something different to my hair - like cutting it really short. THANK YOU for the inspiration beautiful lady!!!

Lisa Galloway: Great advise! Filled with words of wisdom! Totally agree be YOU! I am more comfortable in my skin at age 56 than I’ve ever been. Thanks Dominique for being YOU and having this platform to share. ❤️❤️

Nadia Zanchetta: Love this Dominique XOXO Your message to give us courage that we can do and be what we want to be with our lives. Love all the ways and styles that you achieved with your hair. I have always struggled with styling my hair. If I had the luxury of having someone do my hair I would love it I'm enjoying my wavy hair and just letting it air dry.

weigh2funny: Thank you for this posting … For many years, Ive changed my hair color , length, and style daily … through the “magic” of wigs. Unbeknownst to me Ive been slowly changing my style to fit what I think my husband would prefer. As a result, my passion to wear wigs as an ever evolving accessory has dwindled. The once blonde one day, brown or red the next woman started questioning herself. Well, no longer! Now I see I was not being true to myself and my “me”, my essence was being smothered . Thank you again, the fire is burning again from within- my “me” tank is at full again. I’m back!

browneyes1952: I loved this video. turning 70 this year life has come with challenges. being on a fixed income is very stressful. after working 44 years cleaning houses my body last spring said enough is enough. I have enjoyed my summer in my gardens and doing what camping we can afford. I do love winter but my body tells me differently. I have learned that my local library is a place I enjoy to go and don't feel guilty sitting still for a while and enjoying a book. we have become home bodies since corvid. I have never wore a lot of makeup but always put on mascara before leaving the house. like you said my face has become my grandmothers whom I loved so i think of my wrinkles as a sign of the wonderful years I have had. thank you again.. .

Shaye Henderson: And when you lose your hair to chemo (breast cancer) it can be as devastating as the cancer itself. Yet you are told "It will grow back", "You should be grateful you are alive", "How vain of you." So thank you, for acknowledging that a woman's hair means so much.

KS R: This all really hit home. I've been unhappy with my hair style for a while now and overall I just feel bad about myself. I'm 57 and have found this stage in life to be difficult. I'm at a place of not knowing how to "do me". I'm not sure who I even am. I also struggle finding clothes that are age appropriate and youthful at the same time. I'm under no pressure from anyone to be or look a certain way but am my own worst critic. Thanks for this video. ❤️

pamela kud: Gorgeous! Love your confidence and love your energy. Thank you for the powerful words

Norine Fitzgerald: Really great conversation today Dominique. I’ve felt that inner wrestle for while and now I know why.. I choose me, the new inspired me , that’s calling. Much appreciation Dominique for this post.

Maria José Silva: Hi Dominique!!! I’m lacking of words to express how much I enjoy your wise advices to help other women how to get out the best of “you”. It’s the best part of our lifes when we finally be ourselves. God bless you my dear Dominique Love from Portugal

Kathy Blake: I’m 67 and still have dark hair. Pondering going gray but I’m not ready. Your mom still has dark hair and looks beautiful as do you! We have to please ourselves. I’ve gone back to getting my nails done because it feels good!❤

Julie Martell: As always I love your tutorials! You speak from the heart and give us awesome advice, ideas and support. Yes we should be ourselves and feel free to explore new looks. (And I loved your color lipstick )

Cheryl S.: I have wanted to cut my hair off like yours for so long, but I admit I have let others convince me not to because "men won't be attracted to you" (they're not exactly flocking to me now) or "you'll look too butch" UGH. No I won't. I will look fabulous because I will feel fabulous being true to myself! So, I made my appointment. Saturday morning, the big chop is happening. Thank you so much for making this video! It's just what I needed!!

D B: Dominique you get more beautiful every day, I find you to be just lovely and inspirational. I hit "that age" and really wanted short hair and I just did it and it makes me really happy and hearing this video made me understand why and feel even better about it
