Hey, I'm Steven a salon guy and welcome to my new show on my youtube channel, called trh Total Request hair. This is where you guys send me: requests on haircuts and sort of things you want to see, you simply make requests and then I come through and do them for you. So today's and our first official episode is a request of Lisa Rinna who's got amazing, hair and I've gotten a lot of requests to do this haircut. So, as you can see in my mannequin here, I'm going to actually make this mannequin over and give her a lisa rinna haircut. So, let's get started using my shears. I'M going to do is I'm going to establish the length throughout the whole head, starting throughout the bottom section here, I'm using the fine teeth, as you can see here, and I'm just going to determine where I want this to go and I've seen very different variations Of her hair, so we'll go with something around here. That starts pretty much right at the nape. All right and again, you see me to do this before just basically comb it down no tension and cut a straight line all the way across now that I've established a base into here. What I'm going to do and, as you know, she's got pretty layered hair throughout the whole thing, but she still has some length to it. So it's it's short, but doesn't look. Super super short. So here is where I went up one more section right below the occipital bone here in the back and I created the base. So it's a little more solid down here now. What I'm going to do now that I have a solid base? Is I'm going to put pull everything out vertically from the head and, as you can see, here is the bottom layer down here. This is the length that's the very, very bottom, so you've got all of this in here. That needs to be cut. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to cut vertical section like so, and I'm just going to do this throughout the whole back of the head, and you see, I didn't touch anything on the bottom. This right here is the length not touched sort of preserving that length and then there's all the layers right there, that's what's going to give it that whole flip. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to bring everything back to the previous section and I'm going to basically do this throughout the whole back of the head and when I get into the corners here, just real quick one want to share with you. Guys is I'm gon na bring everything straight back, I'm not going to hold it out too much this way just cuz. I want to keep a little length and weight in there, so I don't create any holes, so I'm just going to go and finish this whole back section throughout the whole head and we're going to stop so we get around here and they'll go over and see What we have going on, I'm just going to recap what I did here so again at the base. I started and I cut the base line just to make it a nice solid base in through here and then what I did is I held everything out vertically. If you went throughout the whole back and just basically brought everything straight out and went and follow the head shape, alright and up here, we're going to have it a little bit shorter throughout the top here. So it's going to work into where this is a little bit longer, but what's going to happen is, as you can see, it's going to get like and a lot of it comes in with a styling. But here's where the flips and all the other stuff starts to come in so you'll see that that creates that that style. What I want to do now is just go back and cut everything and cross-check it horizontally. Just to make sure I am balanced, because this haircut, even though it looks really messy and choppy it's very, very balanced, and even and you want to make sure that everything is pre well balanced and cross-checked, and it just has a nice even flow. Also, as you can see, I'm just going through this relatively quickly, cross-checking can be somewhat depressing, especially if you're not the greatest at haircutting, because you're going to go, oh boy, I need to really fix this up and you know, depending how many drinks you've had while You'Re, cutting it's really going to show your work, so I like to just cross check just to make sure everything is balanced and, as you can see, everything looks really really good. So now that this back is done, I'm going to work into the sides, cut the base length and then we'll work towards layering the sides to I create. I worked up my way from the side here and worked this angle up and right in through the front here, as you can see, and then I'm just kind of chip into it again. This might require some you know going in when it's dry whatever and of course you have to take this a little bit shorter in the front here, but this is how you get that angle into the front. So I want to repeat this on I'm going to continue bringing these sections down like so, and I'm going to bring everything you can see the guide, I'm just going to cut everything to the guide and I'm going to repeat this on the other side, this is The complete right side of the head, which is done on you, know my right side here and, as you can see, it's actually start look like Lisa a little bit: hey Lisa, how you doing girl, I loved you on Celebrity Apprentice mm-hmm as you can see, or Lisa Rena look is kind of coming together here and the flips are coming in. Everything is pretty much coming in. I haven't even layer it yet so what I'm going to do now is actually go throughout the layering process throughout the sides and then the top and believe it or not. Then we do the texturizing and we're actually close to being done alright. So now, for the top, what we're going to do is we're going to actually connect what we did from the back and we're going to do that all throughout the whole front and you're going to be able to see the guide at the top back of the Head and what we're going to do is actually let you always see me do this, instead of bringing it straight up, I'm actually going to take its section like so and find my guide and then cut a piece straight across not horizontally, but vertically. Just so I'm blending everything in because if I were to take a horizontal section and cut it straight across it might create a line on the bottle. You know in the back of the head, which means I have to go in and then redo the whole thing in the in the top back just to kind of blend it all in. So I'm just going through this and doing a vertical section. So I can connect the back and the top all right and that's going to create my guy then so now that I've got this piece right here there it is at peace. I can then take my section, my first section on the top here and find my guide with no problem and there's the guide and now everything I'm going to cut basically horizontally all across the top. All right now, you've seen me: do this a million times? Okay? Well, now that we're done with the top here, what I'm doing is I'm going into the corner all right now. What I'm doing with the corner is because I want to leave the length in through here I'm going to actually bring everything up like so and cut it square all right and that's going to leave the length down in from here. I'M going to repeat this on both sides, all right, combing everything in the bottom and then over directing villages by rotating this, your right elbow or whatever elbow you're holding a shears with, and you rotate it, and that is what creates allowing you to cut the square. Here'S what here's the kind of the fun part here and this words really comes in together. This is what my little secret technique here to what keeps the hair, having that really nice flip and those those layers, because we got the layers all the way back here, which are relatively short all right, and then we have to work them in through here, but Also keep the length. So what I like to do is just leave out a bottom section here: okay and then what we're going to do is horizontally cut everything like so I'll, get rid of all this weight in through here and then blend, and it's going to work itself into the Front right see that's where the layers are coming in and work your way up to the top by repeating the same technique cutting horizontally. I'M also point cutting into this and you'll, be able to see your guide and be able to see the hair that needs to come off. So I'm going to do this working my way up through the head and then repeat this on the other side, all right! So, like I said, the hair will start to speak to you. It will fall into place with these kind of haircuts. You really want to be really aggressive. You want to do whatever you can to have the the flips come out like like. So as you can see here, it's really really coming in nicely. So what we're going to do now is now going to texturize it, and this is really where the fun is going to begin because, as you know, she's got a lot of texture. She had a lot of hair, so this is now going to have remove a lot of the weight and just really really soften it up and then we're going to blow-dry it and style it. The freaky thing is this is actually starting to look a little like Lisa Rinna, which is kind enough nuts. So I'm actually I'm going to start with the razor. The feather razor as far as the first technique of texturizing and all I'm going to do, is just really just scrape off the top layer and really just notch into it, to remove some of that weight and just to give it again that nice remove some of The excess weight make it flip a little more and I'm just going to go throughout the whole thing pretty aggressively and I'm holding everything out horizontally and I'm just kind of notching into it. Just to break it up a little bit and to and keep that texture and keep that separation going, I'm just going to follow through at the whole head and if there was any pieces that are a little bit longer or you need to kind of remove any Excess weight - this is a great way to do it, sort of having to go back in with the scissors and I'm just following the whole contour of the head from side to side, and this is a great great way to just really put the icing on the Cake and again, if there's any parts that are a little bit too long or they're, you know a little more, a little more texturizing and others. This is a great way to do it and quick as well and from Lisa herself even said. She'S got a lot. A lot of hair, so this rule it does need to be texturized quite a bit all right. So now that that's done, I'm going to take my thinning, shear and then and then really start to especially at the front here really texturize and thin this out throughout the front another great technique and you've seen me: do it a million times take the hair and Twist into it twist it and cut into it with with the thinning shear all right. This again is going to give great texture to the hair. It'S going to remove any of any bulk, and it's also going to blend everything in right in a very soft way. I'M going to continue this throughout the whole head and again, don't be afraid you might be aggressive now. The front here is what I really want to get get a little more aggressive with the texturizing, because her steel, that's coming off like this Lisa. You do have a lot of here. So in the front, as you know, you saw her front, it's very, very wispy. So what you can do is really towards the ends here and also you can take as horizontally as well. I mean vertically and really just slice into it, removing an excess weight throughout the front here which is going to really soften up the whole fringe area. This is the best way to kind of reduce the weight and separate that the fringe. What'S crazy is I seriously think this looks like Lisa Rinna, which is pretty scary all right, so one minute no do now is I'm going to dry it and I'm going to use the round brush a little bit to get some of the pieces in through here And and then we're going to put a little paste in it and then we'll be done all right going to use a little tea tree shaping cream here, which again is with my favorite pastes to use, and I got to say this looks pretty amazing, and this Is on mannequin hair, so we want to do is just kind of rake your fingers through everything you know, and you can do it in like a raking method, just like so in the back here. You can just kind of you know, mess it up and rake it out a little bit with your hands. This is the best way to kind of accentuate the pieces just by kind of raking it like so and the top here you can just kind of you know whatever you want to do the top mess it up a little bit and you could spray it if You want you don't have to necessarily, but I definitely think that this is, if not exactly but pretty darn close to Lisa Rinna and her, and one of her many looks that she's had another variation of this is just really just to kind of really mess it Up you know um and I've seen a lot of times. Her hair is just kind of all over there all over the place. It'S not so you know perfect, it's it's really a lot more kind of shattered and messy. You know, but I've also seen it words. It'S uh everything's, perfect to all the pieces, but just go in and mess it up, and you know, and just kind of because of the haircut it's going to give you a different kind of look. So this is another kind of variation of it with it being pretty pretty kind of messy and a little more texturized all right. Here'S my finished look. Thank you so much Lisa. Thank you guys again. Thank you for all the requests keep them coming in and every Thursday I'll be doing a special request that you guys send me so in the comments below leave one, you could also leave it on my channel comments as well, or you can email me Stephen at The Salonga comm ste pH en - and I want to thank you for watching trh Total Request, hair I'll, see you guys next Thursday and don't forget to watch on my other videos on my channel thanks. Shaz Mirshahi: Beautiful tutorial thank you very informative and educational... However it would be most constructive to be able to see your every cutting line which in this case is hidden behind your hand nevertheless still a wonderful education for the experienced to watch you

Yéssica Rodriguez: Did this on my mother she's been asking for it for years, no hair stylist had been able to do it for her, it came out perfectly your instructions were really good and thorough, thank you so much!

Sheila Kercheville: I have done many variations of this cut throughout the years, it is so versatile and works on every hair type!!

Kym Haubrich: I love your videos! They're very easy to follow, easy to understand---there's no annoying music to distract from your instructions, and I'm learning a lot of great cuts. Thank you so much !!

blackmoonpearl: I just wanted to let you know that I did this cut on my mannequin and it came out fabulous! Thank you for helping me become a great stylist with your guidance. My all good things come to you!! Thank you, thank you:)

Alex Flores: I have been looking for this haircut for years. Thank you soo much for sharing your knowledge and talent. I am also stylist but I learn soo much in your videos everytime I watch. Thanks for the education and your time. :)

Dee Jay: Awesome! I love the way the cut itself is the style. You did not have to create the look with a curling iron!

D.R. Storm: I can't begin to tell you what a life saver you are to me! I don't profess to be as good as you, but our cutting style reminds me a lot of my own, which is why I feel so at home watching your tutorials. I know when I was researching cosmetology schools, I finally settled with Pivot Point, because their haircutting system made the most sense to me. They had a bit of a scientific and somewhat exhaustive approach to haircutting - incorporating a bit of physics - making us constantly aware of the shape of the head underneath, and making it work for you and not against you. They wanted us to cut with an assured tenacity - knowing beforehand, the outcome of every cut we made. I never liked to "guess" at haircut, though I've seen some stylists who look like a deer in the headlights while cutting - and whats worse; they don't cross check! I have a friend who is requesting this haircut for herself that I'm doing tomorrow. I was ecstatic when I found that you had a video for Lisa Rinna. I pretty loyal to your tutorials. Keep making a wonderful product, because you help out so many people!

Frico1964: Awesome cut Stephen, thanks for the tip's. You really make it clear for us to follow and reproduce these cuts in the salon.

Ichikirei Number One Beauty: PERFECT! SENT IT TO MY MOM WHO HAS BEEN ASKING FOR THIS CUT FOR 2 DECADES AND NEVER! ENDS UP WITH THE CUT :(

karen slemmons: Perfect! I have been loving Lisa's style forever! I have an appointment with my stylist in a couple of days so I am sending her this link. You gave great directions and I have a talented stylist so I am very excited! Thank you very much!

sheila vidrine: You did an awesome job! Now, I want this cut! Thank you for sharing.

Lyndsay Jaramillo: I knew I could count on you for this haircut! My stepmom said she wants this cut and I immediately thought "I bet the salon guy has a tutorial for that!" Thank you for sharing!

Rebelene M.: Super cute! Nicely done. I wouldn't be as aggressive with the thinning shears, personally. Especially on colored, curly, or fragile hair. Even on the thickest hair I prefer to texturize with my straight blades as this leaves the hair in better condition. I've seen a lot of damaged hair due to hairstylists that think more is better when it comes to razors and thinning shears. They are amazing tools when used properly on the right kind of hair textures. Cheers!

Claudia C: Great cuts, instructions, and interpretation of versatile and sophisticated hairstyles!  I'm eager to try this one out myself and will forward your video to my stylist.  Thank you!!!!

#8472 CubeBuster: Awesome, I watched this video several times, now I hope I can fix my cut ... (my own)... this will help a great deal.  Thank you so much for the detailed information, the intricacies to texture and blend.  Beautiful.

Heaven76Sent: I just got this exact hairstyle the other day. I took a picture of Lisa Rinna with me to get it done. I love this style it's so fun and easy.

Tina C.: Per your instructions, I did this haircut on a client this morning. It turned out fabulous! The only difference is, I used my 14 tooth texturizing shears for the entire cut. Thanks! :)

sandra cornett: You did a great job!! You are right, it actually looks just like Lisa Rinna. Love that look !!I Will recommend this video to other hair stylist that may be asked to do this style.

Michelle R: I love your videos, great educator and wonderful man. Easy to follow and just love your techniques. Thank you, so much M

Lynnie Neal: That's really cool! Thanks for showing how it's done!

Kennedy Floyd: You really do a great job. My Mom is a hairstylist and she subscribed to you. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. You are the best on here, Mom says.

Isabel Stylist: You are the best! Thank you for taking the time to show us how to do these famous cuts.

jekorb: Well done!  Looks just like Lisa's haircut!  I asked my hairdresser at the time (several years ago) to do a "Lisa" on my thick brunette hair; the result was awful.  My head looked like a lightbulb with a flip.  She had no idea how to get the results you did.  So, I've kind of given up.  Any way I can come see YOU??

Eliana Calegare: Love it, looks easy to do it.

K C: thanks a bunch....your cut is great...styling is very close...I love this cut and have not to-date found any stylist who can do it even though I bring tons of colored pictures...didn't realize that a "shag" with 45 degree angles and the piece-y look was so difficult .... its very frustrating

Hellraiser40: Wonderful, thank you so much, I had got a 2nd trade test interview, because if your help, and I was very calm, Did a long layered cut, and was told by the manager when he checked the cut, that it was the best cut he had seen in a long time! I am a level 3 stylist with 1 year part experience, in U.K. X

Janne_: such a great video! love the haircut! so I went to my hairdresser with this video and she cut my hair that way but it doesnt come out with that flip i wanted so much, ( i know a lot of it has to do with styling) ( she also didnt texturized it cause she said that isn't good for your hair. she only did the cutting ) is it because she didnt texturized it that it didnt came out that way?

Shannon Carballo: Looks beautiful now I want the cut but I want you to do it!! Love it!!

wa611ter: Great demonstration, I'v been cutting hair now for about a yr. How long did it take you to learn as much as you know and did you work under someone?

Mali Perera: Hi SalonGuy, you are an absolute genius. it's a pleasure to watch your videos. You explain so well. Is it possible for you to show the short layers as well? Specially for men.

Brenda Powell: obsessed with your how-to videos. My hair is med-tight curl, do you recommend razor & thinning shears for this cut??

Donna Brown: Love it, thank you so much!!!!

Sandi Thompson: Great job. Love it!

Nina Gathergood: I am going to attempt this today on my mannequin. Your the best, I really enjoy & learn a lot from you.

Jessica R Wilder: Sure wish you could do my hair like Lisa's . . . I can't find anyone to do her hair like you DO! I have a ton of hair, but these stylists here only "think" they can do it. They can't. You are perfect!

Jessie Slay: Love this hair style ! Love to watch you cut and style hair...

Jen Finds Fulfillment: I think the concept with this haircut that was hard to grasp for people was the whole leaving the length and having short layers all over. This video explained if perfectly

Denisse Goatcher-Avila: Yup - looks just like Lisa's! Great job!

flavio nascimento: Achei bem prático e bonito....

Jenny Payton: Could someone with fine hair wear this haircut? I love this haircut. Nice job.

DianaKlemen: I love this haircut ❤️

biglouis: Great technique, thank you for sharing your knowledge....

Castro Iliana: You are AWESOME!!!!! love the Lisa Rinna haircut tutorial. Thank you...would love for you to do my hair.

Denise Curran: Love this haircut!!!

Barbara Mcwaters: You really did great and easy to follow

Brandie Woods-Sloan: I love your instruction! I could do this cut now with my eyes closed, however because I can no longer layer my own hair( arthritis and severe numbing in hands and fingers, I have gone through hair dressers like crazy and they just don't get it. I am going to have a non-hair stylist friend watch this, so that she can cut my hair exactly as you show. I have always found I have MUCH better luck having a virgin stylist do my cuts than a seasoned stylist... if that makes any sense to you.... funny, but true!! Thanks so much!

char deplate: That is a good video, one thing that might be helpful for people is to tell us what type of hair different cuts would work or not work with. I had mine cut one time like someone's style, but my hair did not have the texture that worked with the cut. I was really disappointed even though the cut was the same, the look was never there.

SabrinaBrandaoyahoo.combr Brandao: Deveria ter legenda em português

Ginger Sweeney: Love it! Thank you.

hs: Thanks for your videos, they are enjoyable to watch, good sense of humor too,

Sana Rizwan: Great techniques ...simply in love

Karen F: I wore my hair like this for 12 years however it has to be done perfectly and getting more than three times in a row from the same hairdresser was next to impossible, I felt stress everytime I had to get my haircut, im not exaggerating when I say my workmates new the pattern as well , oops its your fourth /even at times third haircut,,yep then id spend the next two weeks trying to get it fixed..it grew out in the pandemic i know have a textured lob that does not need the kind of maintenance that hairstyle required less haircuts means less chances of stress . Im doing the opposite of most woman - long hair when young -shorter styles when older. Ive been short hair since 14 now im a long haired 62 year old.. however that video made really had me thinking I want to go back, but I cant get you, So long hair lady I am now.

Candy Brown: awww I want this haircut!! excellent tutorial

L: Love this cut, I have it, but it got messed up, hairdresser didn't do what I told her, from your video.. your #1

A Holden: Love Love Love this cut!!!!!

Enelia Torres: Love this haircut!!! What brand of paste did you use?

Enelia Torres: Love this haircut!!! What brand of paste did you use?

Teodora Kitova: Very nice cutThank you so much

Jade Thornicroft: great cut!:) I am going to be attempting this cut with advise of your video. just not sure with shaping round the face for the flicks (don't want to take to much off) any advise please

Melanie Hutt: Finally. Thank you. The best haircut I have ever seen bar 1. But how do I find the right stylist to do this haircut. So many times I have lost my hair to someone who gives me a short bob despite requesting that she/he does not do that. Then I have to wait months again before the length is right to try again. I have still not found a stylist to do this haircut. And...what is the color combination from which products. I have read sandy brown? What about the highlights?

Nina Gathergood: I am going to practice this on my mannequin, I really like this hair-cut.

DeerHealer: Hi.   I love this haircut and always wanted it. You did the best haircut just like Lisa's on you tube of her haircut!!!. I wish you could do in total time so we can see every step you do instead of fast forwarding. Also PLEASE that is also the hair color I have been trying to get and no one can get it right...so please can you tell me what color that is for me to ask for or look for...love it. Thanks!!

I'ma Vegemite: I've got a wave in my hair and when this cut is done good on me it turns out great, but most people I go to can't cut, they are hopeless, not the true word that comes to mind I must admit.

MrzBadaBing: Just had someone today ask me to do this cut and I had no idea had to do it so I thought . Now that i watched this i can see that i second guess myself a lot because i actually had the idea right but i was so scared to cut off too much also didn’t help the client was difficult. It’s so true when they say to trust yourself . I had to get someone else to finish the cut because I was freaking out but thanks to this video I feel more confident next time someone ask me to do this cut. She was saying she didn’t want it texturized or razored and I see that this is a crucial step to this look. I need to learn to not allow people to run the show ...they are coming to me to do it so sometimes I don’t understand why some clients try to tell you how to do your job lol no offense I understand that people feel hairdressers ruin some peoples hair but I feel like this is about educating yourself ...I’m always trying to learn new things and I’m glad that I knew I had the idea right my mistake today was not trusting myself

Rosie Duarte: That has always been my favorite cut but I grew out my hair and had a couple disappointments on stylist saying they can do the cut and looked crappy , so I really want that cut again but am afraid of another disappointment, yours looks perfect! Why is it so hard for some to do that cut

Char A: This is like my DREAM haircut but I have 2B/3A curls so obviously I'd have to style it (my hair is somewhat fine but not thin)-- would this be a bad idea for a curly girl???

Dylan Hewitt: Steven you did an awesome job cut and styling the Lisa Rinna hairstyle i wish i could get you to move to windsir ont canada to do my hair this way.

cindy goebel: please show Dianne Sawyer's hair cut and style  thankyou ! Love your videos!!!!
