Hey guys welcome back to my channel today's, you can't already tell from the thumbnail and from the title we are going to be talking about growing my hair into that really short pixie, that I showed on the thumbnail into what I have right now. So I've been growing it out, probably for a little bit over a year now and it has grown a good amount. So I just wanted to give you guys the tips and tricks that I used and kind of insight on it. If you're new to my channel - and you don't already know - I am a licensed cosmetologist, I worked in a hair salon for a few years as a hair stylist. I don't do it full-time anymore. I just do it part-time, but I still have that background, which i think is really vital and important in this kind of a video, and I can give you guys good tips to grow out your hair. Like I did. I know a lot of people. Look up. These videos, before they even cut their hair into a pixie. So if you are one of those people, I did film a video. It was kind of like a pros and cons of cutting your hair into a pixie cut, which is a really good video to watch. If you have yet to cut your hair, I wish I found something like that. It is just everything you need to know and it'll make the decision so much easier for you. It kind of just gives you the rundown on what you're gon na deal with and all the pros all the cons. In my own opinion, I will leave that list in description box, for you guys right away. I just want to say I am very sick, so I'm sorry if my voice is really annoying, I'm trying my best not to sniffle and cough I've taken off of work. The last few days actually took off today hope my boss is watching. I am really sick, but today's the first day I woke up without a fever, so I was like you know what I just got to film and get this up there for you guys. I'Ve been wanting to film this for a while, but I thought that now my hair was that a good like they kind of talked to you guys about it. I did take a bunch of pictures throughout the entire process. I took like a month to month pictures to kind of just show you guys what you will be dealing with in the horrible horrible stages of growing out a pixie cut. It was brutal, but you just got to do what you got to do so with that. I will stop rambling and we'll get right into the video, so right off the bat. I do just want to mention that your hair on average grows about half an inch a month, so in a full year your hair only really grows about six inches for an average person in a year, my hair, about eight inches. So I think I definitely was doing something right. My hair used to grow really fast when I was younger, but then, as I've gotten older, it doesn't really grow that fast. So I think all these things that I'm going to share with you guys definitely did help. So with that, the first thing that I want to mention, which is probably the most important, is getting frequent trims. Now I know a lot people say frequent. Trims makes your hair grow faster, it doesn't make your hair grow faster, but frequent trims does kind of cut off those dead ends that you do have. Even if you take good care of your hair, everyone gets dead ends, it's inevitable. I can't really help it. Obviously, by doing a lot of color a lot of heat products does cause it more. It can't get split ends more easily, but it is inevitable and everyone will get split ends so cutting it kind of breaks off those split ends. So that way, if you do have a dead end, you don't cut it off, it will split and kind of make your hair lose length. If that makes sense, I would say a good rule of thumb would be every six to eight weeks, get your hair trimmed. Unless you do a lot of heat on your hair or you color it a lot or if you see split ends that I would definitely get it trimmed. Even sooner than that. I know it can definitely be really inconvenient. But if you want to grow out your hair that just really helps the process. If you don't do the frequent trims, you'll have a lot of dead ends and they're just gon na break off, so that length that you just grew will break off anyway and you'll kind of notice that it's gon na be staying at the same length for a While which is so annoying, my mom just brought me tea, she's, so nice, so number two is trying to steer clear of coloring your hair. I know it's really hard, especially if you are a color lover and you love to switch up your color. I know it can be very difficult, but really just try to stay away from coloring it coloring your hair can damage the cuticle of your hair, which is the outermost layer of your hair. And if you damage the cuticle, then you can get split ends even more easily, which can lead to breakage and all of that bad stuff. You do not want loss growing out your hair, the fewer chemical treatments, you do, the more it'll grow and the better your we'll be. So that's definitely just a good rule to stick with just at least for a year. You can tell I added some lighter pieces. I actually have a video on how I did it. I just polished my hair at home that was like almost a year after I started growing out. So I did wait over the long time and trust me. It was really hard, but just something you have to do, and then number three, which has to do with number two would be stay away from heat styling, which again is also really hard. If you are going to style it just try to pick one try to let your hair air-dry and then you can either strain it or curl it. I find that crowing. My hair is less damaging than straining it because you know when you're straightening, you really have to get every single piece unless you already have fairly straight hair. For me, I have pretty wavy hair, so curling it. I can kind of just leave out some pieces because I already have a wave to it and when I straighten it, I have to trade every single piece, so I found curling, it was the least damaging, so I would just kind of curl it, and I would Let it air dry, because you don't want to blow dry it and curl it or blow dry and straighten it. Just try to stay away from all that stuff, at least for a few months, or at least just do it maybe like a few times a week. Instead of every single day, and if you are definitely definitely use heat protectant, my favorite would be that it's a 10 miracle leave-in product. This does ten different things to your hair. You'Ll find this and a lot of different stores, I'd normally buy mine online. You can buy it at Sally's, so it does ten things instantly. It repairs, dry, damaged, hair, add shine to tangles controls, frizz seals and protects hair color prevents split, ends, stop hair breakage creates silkiness, it has his natural body and it's a flatiron and thermal protector. So this is one really good spray to spray your hair when it's wet right into the shower and it acts as your heat protectant and also does all those other things. So it's kind of like a one and done product, definitely really good. It'S not too expensive. If you have any other favorite heat protectant definitely definitely use it. You do want to protect your hair from any kind of damage that could happen to it. Number four is taking care of your scalp. Your scalp is very, very important. I don't think a lot of people realize how I think it's kind of like a part on your body, that kind of just gets left out. Your scalp is very important. Actually, your scalp can really stimulate hair growth, so doing cleansing treatments or doing moisturizing treatments for your scalp can definitely help your hair grow. I also really love to when I shampoo or when I condition my hair kind of really get in there and almost massage my scalp, and that really stimulates the blood flow and gets your your blood and energy going in your scalp. And it can make hair growth and stimulate hair growth, which is really cool, and it definitely helps hair production. So that's another really good tip, and it also feels really good when I just want to relax, I just give myself a scalp massage. It'S definitely better when someone else does it. I love getting my hair, shampooed and hair salon. It'S so nice. You guys definitely know that I was a shampoo mer for awhile, and every single person would tell me how nice it is. But that is really just like a small little nice thing that you can do, and it really does help number five. Don'T shampoo. Every single day, shampooing every single day, really drips your hair of its natural oils. I know a lot of people are stuck up on this. A lot of people can't get out of that habit of shampooing their hair all the time, but you really don't want to. I would say two to three times a week: shampoo, your hair. Obviously you can take a whole body shower wash your whole body, but just don't shampoo, your hair every single day. It'S a really bad for your scalp, which, just like we talked about your scalp, is really important in your hair growth. It'S really bad of your scalp, it strips it of its natural oils, and actually it can cause your hair to be even more greasy by stripping your hair of the natural oils that your scalp has your scalp and your body can kind of over produce those oils To make up for that, and it can cause your hair to be even more greasy if your hair is really greasy in the meantime, invest in a good dry shampoo. I don't really ever have that problem, so I can't really recommend a good dry shampoo. I know a lot of people use the batiste, it's a really popular one, but I don't know from experience just go to Ulta. Maybe you could ask someone there go online, read some reviews via that. That really helps, and that can hold you over till your next wash day, giving at least two to three days in between washing your hair really lets those oils penetrate into your hair, which replenishes them and hydrates them nourishes them. The hairs which will help it grow and will help it not break, which is really important. Number six is kind of a cliche, but it really is true. Eating and drinking the right foods and drinks is so important, as you guys have all heard a hundred times. Like I have put good in get good out, it's so true, it's just like your skin. They always tell you if you want your skin to glow, and you know you want to get rid of blemishes on that stuff, drink a lot of water and eat the right foods, because it really does work. It'S the same thing with your hair and the whole entire rest of your body. Honestly drinking a lot of water is so important. If you nourish the inside, your outside will definitely definitely benefit. It only makes sense eating good foods and helping your body and drinking a lot of water and again helping your body, helps regenerate cells and helps production of everything in your body. So definitely take that into consideration and you should already be drinking a lot of footer'. That is definitely my new year's goal. I have been so much better with it in the last few months, just drinking a lot of water. I definitely have to get better with my food choices, but for now one step at a time. I really try to drink a lot of water and I can already notice my skin so much better. So that helps a lot with your hair. Too number seven is getting a good multivitamin that can really help your body help hair nail skin those kind of vitamins. I'M sure you guys have seen them at the store. A good multivitamin to get for growing out your hair would be a vitamin with biotin in it vitamin C vitamin B, all of those really help with hair production and new cell regeneration, all that kind of stuff those vitamins really support. Hair and scalp growth. Also, a bonus of taking something like that for your hair is that you'll probably get better nails and better skin. So that's definitely a huge bonus. Okay. So my last and final tip, number eight is be very careful with your wet hair right out of the shower. When your hair is wet, that means the cuticle of the hair is open, which means it is more susceptible to breakage or damage. So just be very careful with it. I would definitely recommend investing in a wet brush. You could probably get them anywhere. Look online. You'Ll probably get them at Walgreens Target anywhere like that Sally's they're, fairly inexpensive, they're, really really soft, bristle and easy on your hair. Also, I would recommend starting to brush from the bottom up. I know a lot of people just start brushing right at the top, but with knots and stuff you kind of rip out your hair. So you always want to start down here and then kind of work. Your way up so not to pull it out or not to cause anymore, not okay. So right now I'm going to insert all of my pictures from all the different months. I didn't take pictures up until now. I kind of stopped. I think I might have taken like seven months or so I'm something I totally forgot to mention was that when you see these pictures, you're gon na think that the back of my hair didn't grow at all, but it did. I was just cutting the back of my hair because you never want to have a mullet. I'M gon na try to explain this the best I can kind of hard to explain, but so this hair right here when I first started growing it out. It was about this short well, obviously, in my back like the nape of my neck, that hair, if I continue to grow it without cutting it at all, this hair would be way longer than this hair, so it would have been like a complete mullet if that Makes sense so in the pictures you're gon na be like wow, like your back of your hair, didn't grow at all. It did I just kept cutting it, and I cut the back of my neck short until this, and all of these hairs reached that back area, and I want to reach there then from here I just completely let it grow all together. So somewhat one length: it's not completely one length, as you can tell there are some short pieces, but for the most part it's only like an inch or so off. You don't want a mullet guys, so I would definitely recommend doing that. I totally forgot to mention. I and number one went forget the frequent trims, not only just for the breakage and everything because you don't want to so that's very important. I was lucky enough at that time. I was working at a hair salon, so we didn't have to pay anything. I know it could be expensive and that does suck um, but that's just one of the things going out your hair and getting your hair cut into a pixie. That'S why again, if you are thinking about it for sure watch my video on the pros and cons, you do not want to cut your hair without knowing everything that goes into it. But again, I'm going to insert all the months right here with that guys. That is the end of the video. I hope you really enjoyed it. I hope I said everything I wanted to say my head is super cloudy and foggy right now. I hope I got my point across. If you guys have any questions, please let me know I would love to answer them for you. If you use any of these tips or if you cut your hair and are in the process of growing it out some pictures, I would love to see them, and with that I will see you guys in my next video bye, hi guys welcome back to it. Just gon na say welcome back to this new channel um. My favorite is which will get rid of those nuts bin, which means it is more susceptible to breakage. So just be very careful, my god, my stomach just growled so loud, okay, so number eight. My final

Isabella: Tip for if you're growing your hair out. Let the top first grow and just cut or shave the sides a little but so it's easier and less awkward. The top can grow over the sides and you can grow the sides and back with less awkwardness.

pandora everett: Heres a great tip. if you are the least bit depressed DONT DO IT

Victoria :/: The most brutal part was definitely the mullet stage :( yet I never wanted to cut it because I was scared that I was just setting myself back

eyelovelife: I just decided to grow out my pixie for the THIRD time. It gets easier each time you do it lol, and this time I have some cute wigs to back me up so it’s all good. Best of luck to anyone else going through the hair growth journey!✌

TrashCan: everyones regretting it but im justing wanting something new besides short hair

Grey C: Sooo i gotta follow; • 6-8 weeks get a trim • Cut the mullet! • Air Dry, and don’t use heat! • Use cute headbands etc. • Actually learn how to style your hair • Hair masks • Coconut Oil • Wet hair spray product thing? • Moisturise scalp • Massage scalp • Dry Shampoo • Drink and eat healthily - crap my entire diet is icecream, sweets and popcorn and the rare time i drink its full sugar fizzy drinks • Multi-vitamin; vit c, b

iced coffee & house plants: i cut mine into a pixie when i was having a mental breakdown and loved it for the first few months. i really miss my bob length though and actually getting to style my hair. growing it out wouldn’t be so awkward if my hair wasn’t so straight tho

Kadie Rose: I just shaved my head (with a 8mm) and bleached it, after this Christmas season and going red for it, I'll be leaving it alone except for trims to keep it from looking like a mullet (no shade, just not in the mood for one) and hoping that I can stick to leaving it alone. The longest I have ever gone without dyeing my hair has been six months, since I was in third grade because my mom is a hair dresser. So I feel up for the challenge and a lot more equipped this time around to handle the awful grow out stages then when I was younger. Thank you for this, it was very helpful. :)

Katie MB: My hair used to be almost waist length, now it’s a pixie—I love it, but I’m so bored! Can’t wait for it to be shoulder length. Thanks for making this video!

Meowthatsme: I cut my hair a month ago to cut off the parts that were damaged and dyed. Now i planning on never dyeing it again. Seeing this video really made my day better and it was super cool to see how long your grew in only a few months! I my pixie is kinda long, so I'm hoping by september that it will be about the same length you had by that time! Thank you for making this awesome video and thanks for not only making my day better, but also encouraging me to be healthier (for the sake of my hair haha)

Amory Serna: I bleached my nice wavy hair and made it weirdly straight so I cut it all off and am now trying to grow it out! Hopefully it won’t be as awkward as it was when I cut it into a pixie when I was 12 lol

Liz Anna: I'm so glad my hair grows fast. My hairdresser is grateful too as I don't get precious about it. I went from waist length to pixie and she had manager come and chat to me. " are you sure? Has anything upset you recently? We can just make it shoulder length and let you get used to that." Great place, in the end all cut off with two stylists to make sure I stayed calm. My reactions constantly surprised them.

Sandy Carter: Yeah, I went in for a trim when growing out a pixie and the stylist cut it right back into a pixie when I specifically told her her I wanted to grow it out! So I lost like 2 months of growth! so.... not getting it trimmed. No way.

Brooke Grafff: Ahh I had just gotten a terrible pixie cut that was cut way to short! Thank you ✌️

Nightmare Mischief: The only thing i would add to this video is what your hair looked like before the final cut in September. Otherwise this video is perfect. I loved the hair tips in the begining of the video and the pictures are really helpful. I'm growing my hair out myself. I had to shave my head last year due to some bad hair bleaching. Your video made me feel so much better. Thank you

Jules Fett: I'm growing out a buzz cut. It's now at pixie length so this video is great. I do feel kinda smug I'm already doing most of those tips lol

mel a: Just a while ago I was so depressed because my hair got cut shorter than what I wanted... (I cut it into a pixie like 4 months ago and I loved it, I just wanted the same haircut) but now I noticed it doesn't look that bad, might as well embrace it it's hair anyways, it will grow back

mikamustdie: I just got my pixie and I regret it more than anything. I hope this helps me.

Pinky G: You are most informational & it was all truth & excellent advice. Thank you. Your hair looks great & healthy. Sorry your ill. Hope your better real soon

Cory O: This is really helpful. I did a long pixie which wasn't bad. Liked it a lot. Then decided to go a bit shorter and the cut was going to be a bit different. She took WAY to much off. She got scissor happy and used a razor. I looked like a boy and HATED it. I never liked short but my husband said try it and of course decided myself to do something different. Yeah never again. I know remember why I hate super short hair! I can't style it. Though it's now long enough to pull back. Only problem is one side was shaved higher. But done right I can hide it pretty well. I'm staying away from heat (maybe once or twice a month), staying away from dying (growing out the blonde for now). I have a hidden mullet lol. Glad the top is longer. But I do follow all these tips myself. So thankfully I knew what to do. But you talking about it helps more.

octops: i loved my pixie cut and then one day i was just kinda like “okay, i want to grow it back out now”

Brooklyn Does Things Sometimes: I don’t know if I should grow mine out. I looooovvvee my pixie but I HATE not being able to do anything to my hair. I can't even put a headband on, or it just poof's up behind the hair band. I can't braid it bc it's too short. I can't dye it unless I do my hole head, Wich i am not aloud to do ☹️. But I like it bc I like being a bit different than most people, and I enjoy people pointing out that they like my hair, or that mine inspired them to cut theirs, or when people compliment it, etc. I don't knoooowwwww!!!!??? What do u think?

QueenOfThunder7: I had to cut my hair to a pixie because I over bleached and over dyed my hair. I'm 2 months into growing it out and I already have a mullet growing; Thankfully I have hairdresser coming in 3 week's. I can't wait to have my hair back i never realised how much I missed it until it was all gone :(

India Longden: I’m getting used to it…I’ve had hair at least at Bob length almost all my life, and had to cut it into a pixie after a chemical meltdown and a horrible salon experience. The good news is now my hair is so short that all the damage is gone - I just have a soft, virgin blonde pixie!

Lydia B: I'm coming up to 5 weeks of growing out my pixie cut. I have no idea when i'll be able to get my haircut again since we're all on lock down because of the Corona Virus. I may have to resort to chopping off the mullet myself! I'm just wearing headbands at the moment to keep it all off of my face.

ollie the gamer: I didn’t like my pixie cut that i got back in november. I felt like it wasn’t myself. I haven’t trimmed it since March, but i probably won’t. How long will it take for me to grow it into a bob if it’s about to my mouth/tip of nose?

Shaniafan1: I shaved mine a year ago and I miss my hair so much. It’s grown back to the really awkward long stage. plus I have my natural colour back and it’s healthy. I took month to month photos too but this time I will not dye it or cut it. Not counting trims.

Mallory Johnson: Mine is currently growing out it’s been probably like 6 months from my last cut and I’m about to get a trim on the mullet ish part so that it’s pretty even and I’m pretty much half way to longer hair again so yayyyy :)

Anonymous: rn I am going through a mullet type stage and I just want it to grow out before September!!

Olivia Randall: So abt the shampooing too frequently, what if we work in an environment where we need to shower and shampoo daily or sometimes before and after a shift?

Tired Tyler: I cut my hair a REALLY short pixie because I wanted to pass as gender neutral, however, I have my prom next year so I’m planning to grow it out starting now!

K L: I have pretty much what you have in the May picture, but the stylist misunderstood what I wanted and cut the back wayyy shorter than the sides and my head looks like an oval now. It's basically a Karen cut on steroids, thank god for wigs. Luckily I actually WANT a mullet though so it should look nice and 80s by fall :D

Caillean Daugherty: Hi! Thank you for the tips. Im a really natural person. When i had my long hair, i wouldnt wash it everyday. But now i go to bed and wake up and my hair is a disaster. Im not sure how to even begin to fix it in the morning so I just decide to wash it anyway. Do you have any suggestions?

def not connor: I’m transmasc and I showed the lady a completely different hair from a pixie and she somehow found a super short pixie from that I just need to get it long enough to fix into what I wanted!,

Jen Jen: I got my hair cut into a pixie back in October here we are in April and it’s still super short. I haven’t cut it sense then I don’t use heat products on my hair, haven’t been coloring it, not washing as frequent and taking sugarbearhair vitamins and don’t see no difference in hair growth it’s still falling out a lot while brushing or washing and my hair is fine. Is there any other tips you can give me I can’t get trims right now due to all the hair salons being shut down.

S4M81RA: i cut my hair into a pixie cut about 5-6 weeks, and got a trim today, and she cut it way too short, and i need to grow it a little before school starts in 2 weeks, because I honestly look hideous rn. Any tips to grow to a longer pixie cut in 2 weeks? :)

Donna Thornburg: Thanks for the advice.will try all of these tips.

Kayleigh Atkinson: Im in the muller phase and wearing headbands fixes that issue!! With the back of ur hair being longer and the sides back it gives the impression ur hair is long!!

Barbara Mayberry: I just got a really good wig that was the same style and color of my hair. It's to just under my ears. I want to grow it just long enough to put in a ponytail in the summer. Maybe shoulder length. I figure I have another 6 months or so to completely grow out. I liked my hair short but couldn't find a stylist after I moved to texas that could do my hair.

Danger Days: my hair actually grows pretty fast so i’m lucky bro, i’m still in the pixie stage tho

Flydaze Dator: Just cut off my mullet last monday. I waited for a year to dye my hair. Now it's like a small bob. I kept on brushing it and I'm following my cousin's advice to shampoo my hair twice a week. Use conditioner always stuff like that. Wish me luck! I want to have a new look before I go to college this July

ToastedEmo: I cutted my hair one side shaved and one side is still long (Short enough that it cant touch my shoulders) I rlly like it, but i'd like to grow it long again like i used to have it, and i hope it won't look weirdly, so i hope it will work out :P

Vasti Bueno: I have a short little curly pixie cut and it’s longer in the front and shorter in the back. I am trying to wait PATIENTLY for my hair to grow, just so I can cut a mullet. My hair needs to speed it up bruh.

RIP Mom Covid: I'm older and thinking about going short and keeping it short, no longer than a aw length bob, just keeping it neat. The time lapse photos were so helpful.

Kylee Palmer: I have had short hair for a year and a half. I am a junior and I want longer hair for senior year. Do you know if rice water, castor oil, eggs and things like that work? Please let me know. I have not finished the video yet so I'll keep watching. Thanks!

Amber Jo-Lynn: i’ve had a pixie cut for over a year now and i trim it myself a lot because i love cutting hair, but lately i’ve just been cutting the back of it so that it’s not mullet looking

alana!: Thank youuu

Nanette Nilo: Hey great info. When you cut the back ,did you cut it straight across ?

Karen Tsoi: My hairdresser was thinning out my hair too much, I feel really sad, How to grow back my hair thicker again ?

Annie Medosch: “Actually learn how to style it” ... no I just wanna wake up and not have to do anything for once

Iaintlistening: Hi from Germany. I went to two hairdressers within 4 weeks. I had hair way past my breast. The first one cut it into a very blunt bob - horrible. The second one cut it into an inverted short bob - horrible. It got bleached from dark blonde into a very light blonde - looks horrible. Now I started evening out the long part of the inverted bob, so it can grow out, but it looks like rats chewed on it. I also toned my hair into a brown shade, which turned out almost black. All I can do for the next 12 months is hide it under a hat or beanie. I want to cry all the time. I have never looked so bad. And no one has made a nice compliment about it. Also did I mention that I paid almost $600 to look like an idiot at age 35? Ugh :(

Kacey Pagano: So I have curtain bangs at about my chin that I would like to grow to shoulder length. How long will that take? Six months?

noelia b: i cut my hair yesterday and i wanna cry a lot, i'm a mess

Jaymfsena: I have finger waves and I’m tryna grow it out it’s been 4 months but since it’s curly you can’t even tell it’s growing

Laura Wright: I HATE MY PIXIE! i look like a boy and i miss my old hair. i cut my hair to the bottom of my ears one time and a yearlayer it was half way down my back so it goes quite quick

Rachel: I wouldn't recommend any aerosol dry shampoos. Scalp health is important and they contain drying alcohols. Powder dry shampoos tend to be better for that.

ry: I thought cutting bangs would make the awkward 'not quite a bob' haircut cuter... Honestly considering shaving my head at this point.

Randell: I'm trying to grow out my hair. The undercut is the most annoying part for me cause I got it cut so the top was down just past my nose and the sides and back was saved with a gage 2. I currently look like Steve from stranger things

Chanelle Ali: I’m trying to grow out my pixie cut. Feels like it’s not doing anything at the moment just want a Bob so it looks like an actual haircut

Ren: I've had my pixie for about 2 years but I'm growing it out now and currently have a very uneven mullet going on and I want to die. I need to cut it even again god this is brutal. I loved my pixie most of the time, sometimes hairdresser's have done it terribly but a lot of the time it was done well so I will miss it but I do want to have longer hair again

Mÿlløù: I'm trying to grow out my hair so i could get it cut into a scene boyish cut once I convince my mom.

Ontoyou Always: Try course, gray, wavy hair. Not so easy to grow out. But yet it grows at least an inch a month.

Lolly B: I’m so mad I cut my hair my hair was like 2 inches longer than hers and I wish I hadn’t of cut it.
